In our post-Oscar haze, we covered a lot of photos from the Vanity Fair Oscar party. Hecate covered these photos of Emma Watson, and many of you put out the Bangs Trauma Bat Signal for me to comment on them. Here’s my comment: OMFG THESE BANGS ARE AWFUL. I kind of think that Emma struggles with her hair? I know she struggles with finding hairstyles that suit her face. I’m still haunted by her attempts to work a pixie cut – it wasn’t so much the fact that she tried a pixie, it was the really awful styling of said pixie cut. I honestly think that Emma has not realized – or understood – that with her face, she really doesn’t look good with bangs or fringe of any kind. But even if she really wanted to do bangs, she shouldn’t do these ratty-looking sad baby bangs, omg.
Anyway, beyond the bangs, Emma seemed to have a nice time over Oscar weekend. I saw on Twitter that some of the Emma-stans noted that she and Chord Overstreet seemed to be looking especially friendly at the Oscar parties. And now Page Six confirms it: Emma and Chord are dating?
“Harry Potter” star Emma Watson is dating “Glee” star Chord Overstreet, Hollywood sources have confirmed to Page Six. Rumors have been swirling since the pair was seen leaving the Vanity Fair Oscars party together on Sunday night, along with a group of friends. They had previously been photographed together at a Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats concert at Hollywood’s Troubadour in February.
One Hollywood insider said, “It’s crazy but, yes, they are seeing each other, although Emma wants to keep things quiet and private.” While Overstreet joined Watson at the Vanity Fair party, the actress was seen mingling with a host of stars including Jennifer Garner and James Corden. Another source insisted of Watson and Overstreet, “They are friendly, but are not in a relationship.” Watson has been single after splitting with Silicon Valley tech company manager William “Mack” Knight in late 2017 after dating for nearly two years.
In 2017, Watson, 27, told Vanity Fair why she wants to keep her romantic life under the radar: “I want to be consistent: I can’t talk about my boyfriend in an interview and then expect people not to take paparazzi pictures of me walking around outside my home. You can’t have it both ways.”
She added, “I’ve noticed, in Hollywood, who you’re dating gets tied up into your film promotion and becomes part of the performance and the circus. I would hate anyone that I were with to feel like they were in any way part of a show or an act.”
Emma’s pretty smart about how she handles her love life, because it barely registered with me that she had a boyfriend for two years and that they broke up in late 2017. It’s been that way for years with Emma – she has breakups and new boyfriends and her most hardcore fans are paying attention, but the gossip world really isn’t. She really does keep it lowkey. As for Emma + Chord… I haven’t paid attention to him since he was on Glee, and even then, I didn’t really care. He’s cute? It seems fine. I’m not getting a “this is a grand love story” vibe from them, so whatever.

She had one of the best celebrity pixie cuts ever. She looked great with it because she has delicate features and she styled it perfectly most of the time. I do think the short bob is her life cut.

I have the same face shape and struggle so hard with my hair. Do I keep it long? Short? It’s fine and sort of thin. I don’t even know.
The bangs styled here are terrible. Baby bangs are awful in general but other photos when they’ve not been so separated, they’re not as bad on her.
@lillil I completely agree. She has such feminine almost dainty features, her pixie style looked great. I think the bangs kinda look cool here too. I wouldn’t do this, but she seems to have the face that allows different styles.
Hope it works out for her. When i see photo’s of her she goes between looking like KStew or Lena Dunham (esp with the current hair).
I love her, but, those bangs are wretched!
She usually only dates Ivy League guys from wealthy families so I wonder what they have in common. He also comes from a wealthy family as far as I know. But they seem very different. He is very open about his private and love life and she is very reclusive. She’s also introverted and brainy and well he is the opposite.
I am really surprised she dates someone famous. She was always very adamant about never dating someone famous.
IMO it really reads as if she’s trying to get publicity to get work, which is … interesting, since she seems so disinterested in acting, etc. and promoting. Though there have been rumblings about her wanting to be a *star* (e.g. that interview with that former UK Elle (UK Vogue)? editor from a couple of years ago).

@QueenB – I don’t have a link to the interview – seems like her people scrubbed it from the web. The gist of it was that she was scheduled for a photoshoot with Elle UK or Vogue UK, but the clothes for the shoot were stolen from the Eurostar. The editor (who is really well known, but I’m blanking on her name) said that EW was really upset about it, and got her (EW’s) personal assistant to call the editor to tell her that EW “has been waiting 10 years to be a star” (or something like that). Then the editor said that the photos* turned out really well despite the clothes and EW drama.
* It was the photoshoot where there was a black and white picture of her jumping on something wearing a long sweater/sweater dress

I don’t have a problem with bangs… these aren’t great but I don’t mind them.
I like Chord. I liked him on Glee and so far no scandalous gossip… so i hope that he’s a good guy. He’s cute too.

I don’t like the bangs but I do like her so I’m inclined to give her a pass. I love her freckles! And I think this length of hair would generally work for her, sans the bangs trauma, of course.
The ugly bangs really show how beautiful her face is and how delicate her features are. I imagine it’s hard for her to find someone to date, especially someone on her level.
She really is making all my fan fiction dreams come true.

Hmmm makes sense. Random online article mentioned a Glee reunion but he and Lea “try hard” Michelle were nowhere to be seen. If he’s dating her (Emma), she probably asked he keep a low profile when their together. Smart on her part, don’t think this will last
She’s not promoting any projects, no? It seems like she’s trying to drum up publicity for some reason (trying to get work?) – for example, she guest edited and was on the cover of UK Vogue/Elle/one of those fashion/women’s interest magazines and she’s showing up to Oscar parties. And now there’s a tabloid article about how she’s dating a fellow celebrity, even though normally she doesn’t do either of those things (leak information about her personal life to the tabloids and date celebrities, that is).
Also, I just realized that she seems to be trying to model her career/image like Audrey Hepburn’s. Her Vanity Fair party look is practically Hepburn cosplay, down to the baby bangs.

I never watched Glee so I only know him because of his ridiculous name. I always think of Knox Overstreet from Dead Poets Society. Chord is a pretty silly name, but I guess it’s good he’s in the music business!
His father is a successful country musician who i believe wrote/produced for some of the the big country names so i guess that’s where his name comes from.

I like the baby bangs. I’ve wanted to get my hair cut similar to hers with baby bangs and my stylist always looks at me with horror when I bring it up. LOL
All I know about him is that he dated Emma Roberts and she was mean to him. Used to call him ch-ord.
Chord very much has a type. His past relationships or hook ups include Lily Colins and Emma Roberts.
