Katy Perry spent much of 2017 promoting her latest album, and considering it was her first big promotional tour in several years, she ended up getting a lot of questions about her long-standing beef with Taylor Swift. At that point – 2017 – Katy seemed over it. The Bad Blood era was over and neither woman really “won.” Taylor looked petty and juvenile in the drama (which was allegedly about back-up dancers) and Katy just seemed… I don’t know, like she wasn’t really here for the larger girl-drama narratives. Katy mentioned a few times last year that she “forgives” Taylor and that she wants their beef to be over. Sources also insisted that Katy just stopped giving a f–k about Tay in general.
Well, now Katy is on TV every week with the American Idol reboot. On the most recent show, co-host Luke Bryan asked a contestant to name their favorite artist. The young man said, “I’m sorry for this Katy – Taylor Swift.” Katy’s reply? “You don’t have to be sorry….I love her as a songwriter as well.” Just seeing the words, it doesn’t seem that shady. LOL. Yeah, there’s still animosity. Granted, I do think Katy doesn’t give a sh-t for the most part. But if someone is going to be like “OMG I am ride or die for the Queen of Snakes,” Katy is going to respond with a muted, “she’s a good songwriter.” Hahahaha.

After last week my patience with Perry is at an all time low…but I’m not seeing the drama here – I thought she (for once) handled herself with some semblance of maturity.

Actually just shade is supposed to be subtle that’s the point which got lost when the term got co-opted. Shade isn’t supposed to be blatant. I miss shade court at Jezebel.

Yes! I keep thinking the same thing. Her makeup is soooo heavy it’s distracting. It’s all I can think of when I see pictures of her.

Same here – it’s not cute or flattering. I guess she wanted a change, but darker hair definitely suits her more.

She does not have the face or head shape to pull of this hair. It looks really bad. You need very good bone structure for that.
This is the most boring feud in music history. Sometimes I think Taylor just made it up to make Bad Blood work and doesn’t know what to do now.
She irritates me (Katy). Lately when I see photos of her she is really caking on the makeup and the blonde pixie isn’t doing her any favors.
I really haven’t heard a good worthwhile song from Katy in a while. I’m not a fan and I absolutely hate her hair like that. Delicate though, TS’s new song, I love it. The video is kind of silly, but I really like the song. It’s very catchy.
The whole Idol reboot(?) is just so silly and unnecessary. I tried watching an episode and couldn’t get through it. Also, Katy Perry has just about as weak a voice of Taylor Swift, if we are being honest about singing ability.
I feel Katy was milking (with no succes) the Taylor beef during her promotion tour.
Nobody cares about this feud but Katy Perry stans.
I respond to that sort of thing the same way. She wasn’t snarky. The head gesture seemed more, “To each their own”.
I really need for her to stop with this hair color, cut and this dark makeup. None of it is flattering. She’s adding at least a decade to her face.
