Did Donald Trump father an ‘illegitimate child’ with a Trump Tower employee?

Another day of Bigly Meltdown Watch 2018. Politico reports Trump’s mental state as “panicked,” for good reason. I describe Trump’s mental state as “vegetative, petty, childlike, and grossly stupid.” I’m still feeling like we’re not going to exit this week without someone at the Department of Justice getting fired. Will it be Jeff Sessions, the KKKeebler Elf who is currently hiding under a rug? Will it be Rod Rosenstein’s head on the chopping block, which is what Steve Bannon is apparently recommending? Or will it be Certified Zaddy Bobby Mueller? Here’s a fresh new tweet:

Horsesh-t. But that does bring me to a fundamental question I keep asking: why NOT fire Jeff Sessions? Trump hates Sessions and Sessions hates his life at Attorney General. Why not fire him?

Meanwhile, Ronan Farrow dropped this story about Michael Cohen working with the National Enquirer on another “catch and kill” story:

The gist of the story is that the Enquirer paid a former Trump Tower doorman $30,000 for the exclusive rights to a story, then the Enquirer killed the story. The story? The doorman claimed he’d heard a rumor that Trump “had fathered an illegitimate child with an employee at Trump World Tower, a skyscraper he owns near the United Nations.” Everyone involved is denying the story except for the doorman, but it is clear that the Enquirer paid the guy $30,000 and that Michael Cohen was involved in some sort of way. Just think: there could be another Ivanka or Tiffany or Eric Trump out there. *shiver*

  1. Darla says:

Would they have paid him if the rumor wasn’t true? I don’t know. This ties back, in my mind, to that very strange portion of Stormy’s contract. Something about paternity.

    • B n A fn says:

Yes, there was a line in stormy contract about paternity. Stormy said she was never pregnant by him. The word on the streets is that was a standard “form” and they forget to delete the paternity line. Also, more Word on the streets, there are dozens of NDA out there. And to think that the dirt bag, con artist, liar brought out those women and sat them across from Hillary during one of the debate to shame her for what Bill might have done, when it appears he’s a thousand times worse than Bill, jmo.

      • Esmom says:

Yeah, clearly the Clinton debate stunt was yet again him projecting. Dirtbag is right. It’s infuriating to have been watching this train wreck for so long and be so helpless to do anything.

      • Darla says:

My stomach sinks every time I think about what they did to Hillary that night. And the media extracted no price for behavior that was beyond the pale. Behavior so low, it should have immediately disqualified him.

      • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

All that aside, who in her right mind would *want* to f&ck this guy????

      • Darla says:

That I have no answer for.

      • AnnaKist says:

I came on to ask the same thing, Not So. Willingly. ??? There are not enough UGHs in the universe… 🤢 🤮

      • BoniBunny says:

Totally convinced that Michael Cohen is Trumps 1st illigitamet child. He would have been 18ish at time of birth. Cohen has his nose and a strange need to protect and be loved by trump.

      • FLORC says:

        Notasocialbutterfly
        … ikr… money… alcohol… idk… but omg gross.

And who didn’t see this coming.

      • IluvUk says:

So true Darla. My stomach sank when he brought women to debate to try to shame Hillary.

What bothers me is the outright HIPOCRYSY of Trump and the Republican base.

I feel sorry for the alleged child, having Trump-bat-crap-crazy pants as an alleged father.

    • Kelly says:

There has to be more than hearing a rumor to pay $30,000.

      • Horsforth says:

Especially given his fondness for defamation suits. I expect that there are many, many NDA’s and payments out there….

      • velourazure says:

This Jerry Springer presidency needs to END.

      • jwoolman says:

The doorman has been quoted by name as saying he passed a polygraph test at the time. I guess he figures any agreement is toast now and so he’s speaking out. He’s insisting it wasn’t just a rumor.

    • jana says:

And if that housekeeper he impregnated happens to be Hispanic, Karma is real, and it has perfect timing.

  2. Rapunzel says:

And he’s backtracking on the Syria “get ready” tweet, saying

“Never said when an attack on Syria would take place. Could be very soon or not so soon at all! In any event, the United States, under my Administration, has done a great job of ridding the region of ISIS. Where is our “Thank you America?””

    FML, he’s so damn ridiculous.

    • Kitten says:

      Ridiculous is too kind.

Ok so they got rid of ISIS.

      Now what?

I mean, what’s the next step in the plan? Because that’s the easy part (as proven in Iraq) but the hard part is the work that comes afterwards. Do we stay there and continue to fight? Do we assist in the rebuilding process? Do we withdraw completely and only supply humanitarian aid? If we withdraw entirely a vacuum will be left to be filled by the next terrorist group.

But this is how 45 operates: rash, impetuous decision designed to produce short-term results. Only ever thinking about tomorrow instead of next year or five years from now. He went into the White House skeet-shooting and hasn’t stopped. There is no method here, only madness.

      • Swack says:

I doubt we give any money to help them rebuild. Trump has already complained about the amount of money we have sunk into this fight. As far as ISIS being gone – he may want to think about that. They could be out of sight but not gone – regrouping and getting more recruits.

      • Kitten says:

As I said below: I do believe that ISIS is gone, I just don’t think it’s the *Major Accomplishment* that Trump’s sheeple seem to believe (certainly not as major as Obama’s takedown of Osama Bin Laden). And ITA that a new terrorist faction will reform, probably under a new name.

      • jwoolman says:

I doubt they got rid of ISIS. There have been reports for a long time that recruitment continues. They lost territory but are still around and working to continue their mission.

Donald said during the campaign that he knows more about ISIS than the generals. To quote Hillary Clinton’s response to that statement: “No, Donald — you don’t.”

One major problem is focusing just on a military approach. Our actions really did create and encourage ISIS. Regime change is extremely risky when done by foreigners. Saddam Hussein’s Ba’ath Party turned out to be a stabilizing force – it was secular, and included people of different faiths (different types of Muslims and Christians) in high positions as well as women. Ironically, what attracted the US military to taking over Iraq to get permanent military bases was its secular government and relatively tolerant culture. Saudi Arabia was very uncomfortable and pretty impossible for military women and military families. The US invasion and occupation and destruction of the government changed that. Plus for some odd reason people don’t like being bombed and occupied and some of them will react badly. Who knew?

Every drone and missile launched, every bomb dropped, every civilian killed as alleged “collateral damage” just increases the likelihood that ISIS will successfully recruit another person. The only benign thing foreigners can do in bad situations is to welcome refugees and provide real humanitarian aid.

Military action has a strong tendency to backfire because civilians are always on the front line and modern warfare destroys what civilians need to live (clean water, housing, schools, businesses, medical facilities). The US military has been claiming they have smart bombs and smart missiles and do carefully targeted strikes as far back as WWII. It wasn’t really true then and it still isn’t now. Dead is dead, Mr. President, and people in other countries have much longer memories than you do.

      • Tiffany :) says:

ISIS isn’t gone. ISIS has lost their “caliphate” aka the land they were claiming as theirs, but they still have an incredible presence online. That is actually where they can do the most damage, because they can inspire lone wolf random acts of terror that are nearly impossible to predict.

      • noway says:

Even if ISIS is completely gone, which I doubt, there will be another one unless we work at the underlying causes. Remember ISIS was just a creation of Al Qaeda, and before that was Hezbollah which still exists. If it wasn’t so sad it would be funny how it seems the Republican Presidents are the one who celebrate fake victories. W. shouting victory on a carrier and now Trump and his ISIS victory.

    • Chaine says:

He’s such a freaking loser. No follow thru whatsoever except with the promised nominations of racist homophobic misogynist judges.

    • NotSoSocialButterfly says:

They seriously weakened ISIS, they did not destroy ISIS, hence the generals’ frustration about pulling out prematurely, which would allow for a resurgence.

He’s so fn gross on all levels. Some days it is hard to get out of bed and face the news.

      • Rapunzel says:

I’m not entirely convinced ISIS is even really weakened. Not permanently.

      • Nopity Nope says:

Exactly! ISIS isn’t gone – they play a long game a helluva lot better than the idiot who sits in the Oval Office.

      • Kitten says:

Actually, they have eradicated ISIS for the most part. If you follow NYT reporter Ben Hubbard’s Mid East coverage for the NYT, he’s pretty clear about the success of the current administration pushing ISIS out. But again, that is the EASIEST PART. It’s the work afterwards that is the most difficult.

Saying “ISIS is dead” means very little. We said the same about Al Qaeda and most recently, Hezbollah’s Syrian faction. These terrorist organizations just re-form and re-brand themselves in the vacuum that is left by the prior group. They re-emerge under a new name and continue to terrorize. It’s a cycle that Trump is far too unprepared to tackle in meaningful and lasting way.

      • magnoliarose says:

ISIS is no longer the threat they were and are pretty much dead as an organization, but that doesn’t mean anything as far as terrorism is concerned. They find a new “home”.
The US had no business destabilizing the Middle East, and now we have an incompetent, corrupt idiot in charge making everything worse. Now with Bolton involved it will just become even more of a mess.

  3. minx says:

Politics and current events are “guy stuff?”

    • minx says:

      Responding to deleted comment.

    • lucy says:

I was just about to reply to that ridiculous comment too, but it appears to have been deleted. To say politics and global affairs are ‘guy’ things, is to send women back to their fainting couches, unable to participate in adult conversations because our wandering wombs make us too hysterical, and we’d best just focus on pretty dresses and hairstyles.

Honestly, that comment made me SO mad. Well done on all that ingrained misogyny, girlfriend.

      • Kitten says:

Oh FFS it was a WOMAN? Just assumed by Minx’s comment that it was some dumb bro. Damn.

      • U.S and them says:

        Jkkk

      • magnoliarose says:

@ U.S ^ I have no idea what that means?

      • jwoolman says:

Didn’t see the original comment (and by the way, people do lie about their gender om the net, and I could be a cat who has learned to use dictation software).

But the King of the Mountain approach to politics (and everything else) does seem to be guy stuff…. Don’t know if it’s nature or nurture, but it’s very annoying and counterproductive. Yet another reason to have at least equal numbers of women involved, regardless.

      • Lucy says:

@jwoolman – the original comment was complaining about this site featuring pieces on politicians because it is ‘guy stuff’ and they wanted to focus on fashion etc. It was the assumption that an interest in the very important events that shape our world and society are just for ‘guys’ that infuriated me.

      • jwoolman says:

Lucy- what baffles me is that some people can’t just ignore stories of no interest to them but feel compelled to shut down discussion instead. If you’re at a party, you don’t Insist that everybody talk about the same thing. If you’re not interested in one conversation, just slip away and join another one.

  4. Rapunzel says:

He doesn’t seemem to use protection, so I can totally believe there’s an illegitimate child out there. I also think he paid some women to have abortions. It’s all coming out.

    • StartupSpouse says:

That might be the thing that would finally alienate his base: him paying for abortions. Someone got on finding that info – STAT!

      • Beluga says:

The response would be telling! I think we’re going to irrefutably find out what fuels his base as he crosses more and more of their supposed red lines and keeps their support. Process of elimination. Probably leading to racism and misogyny.

I would bet on at least one abortion in his past.

      • Merritt says:

I doubt it. The GOP base is really good at excusing behavior when it is convenient for them.

      • Rapunzel says:

Merritt- yep. So long as Fox News feeds them the parrotable excuse, they will justify.

      • Me46 says:

As long as he brings about End Times/the Apocalypse and he most likely will, they will support him no matter what.

      • Lara says:

They will somehow find a way to make it the womans fault.
She will be the evil woman who seduced a married man. The old Eva story about the women who brought sin into the world or some stupid s*** like this.

      • Kitten says:

You guys are depressing the f*ck outta me.

      • magnoliarose says:

His base isn’t leaving, and in my opinion, they have been paid enough attention. These people feel important because of it, and they aren’t. They are a small segment of society who are too stupid to recognize they have been used and fleeced. There will always be about 30 percent of the population that are fringe dwellers and racists or whatever they are at this point.
We know who they are now and they stand for nothing. All along their “beliefs” were just a cover for bigotry and self victimization. They won’t care if he forced a thousand women to have 5 thousand abortions. Fox will come up with some outlandish excuse, and they will twist their brains to make sense of it.
Let them follow him off the cliff. They are a lost cause.

      • gatorbait says:

From experience dealing with trump supporters, I can tell you they will say that he has asked God for forgiveness and as long as he has done that who are they to judge and then they will judge us for not “forgiving him” too. My mom has said nearly that exact line to me when we were talking about him cheating on his wives in the past. I am seriously depressed about the state of the world.

      • Megan says:

Evangelicals are inseparable from Republicans. Trump finally managed to kill a man on 5th Avenue and they didn’t care. It wouldn’t matter if he fathered 100 illegitimate kids and paid for a million abortions. He is still better than any Democrat in their minds.

      • imqrious2 says:

Oh hell… it came out that he told Marla he wanted her to get an abortion, and his base didn’t even bat an eyelash. Those batsh!t crazies make excuses for EVERYTHING he does. It is beyond comprehension (and it makes my blood pressure BOIL!)

      • oh-dear says:

I heard an interesting commentary from a reporter who reports on Trump’s base. The reporter said that Trump has their support despite being such a hypocritical idiot because they have a social contract with him. As long as he appoints conservative judges who are anti-abortion so they have control over the federal judicial system for the long run, they will tolerate his lunacy.

      • The Other Katherine says:

They won’t give a flying you-know-what. As others have noted, he wanted Marla to abort when she was pregnant with Tiffany, and everyone has known this for decades. They’ll either say that the women are lying or that Trump has found Christ and been forgiven, and it won’t matter a whit whether they genuinely believe a word of it. As long as he supports the Christian Taliban policies they want and is a reliable upholder of white supremacy, they will forgive literally anything. ANYTHING. He wasn’t wrong when he said he could shoot someone on 5th Ave. and not lose supporters. The people who fervently support him don’t support him because they actually believe deep down he is a man of good (or even remotely decent) character. All we can do is turn up to vote in bigger numbers, because if there’s one thing white evangelicals do, it’s VOTE.

      • Mari With An I says:

I am not even sure a paid-for abortion would alienate his idiot base. Google Scott DeJarlis, R-TN. He not only campaigned against abortion as an evangelical conservative, but paid for his mistress to have an abortion. When it all came out, he was still re-elected. Thank goodness he doesn’t represent my district. I just do not understand people for vote for these idiots.

      • agnes says:

        There definitely were abortions. Plural.
But even if one of the women would step forward and tell the story, Twittler’s deranged base would demonize solely her and completely ignore his part in it.

      • Elkie says:

        @gatorbait:

Trump said – out loud – that he has never asked God for forgiveness. The words are literally right there on videotape coming out of his upper anus!

I cannot wait for the 23rd, when the Rapture is apparently coming to wipe the Talibangelicals off the face of the Earth…

      • Veronica S. says:

hahaha no it would not. Evangelicals get abortions all the time. They just hide it and find excuses for why THEIR abortion was acceptable and everybody else’s wasn’t.

    • smcollins says:

This^^^ Didn’t he want Marla Maples to have an abortion? I seem to recall her claiming that.

    • holly hobby says:

Of course he won’t use protection. He’s a selfish bum. Of course he’s paid off women for abortions. Marla was a big example (sorry Tiff). I don’t know why idiots deny these facts.

  5. RBC says:

Not surprised, with the stories about how he never used protection with the women he had sex with, it was a matter of time before a story like this appeared. I would bet that the reason he is so upset about the FBI raid on his lawyer is the story of a child he fathered being made public.
Might also be the reason why Melania is so angry. Could he have fathered a child around the same time she was pregnant with their son?

    • aquarius64 says:

I was thinking the same thing. If this is true, that Trump fathered a child on Melanie’s watch, that would be it for Melania if it goes public. Mueller uncovers the payoff, the DNA results, and other information that can be handled off to the public attorney that handles child support enforcement after contacting Mom. Mom may not engage because it means her child will be branded, but she may go for it to make sure her gets what he/she is entitled by law.

      • RBC says:

Melania might have found out earlier this year. Remember the time period where they didn’t acknowledge their wedding anniversary and she seemed more cold /aloof than usual with him in public(slapping his hand away)? She was furious and to keep her in the marriage, probably negotiated some extra funds to keep her from walking. This news being made public would throw any agreement out the window. This is going to get messy

      • jwoolman says:

Not sure that Mueller would bother going after Trump for any hidden sperm donor events. Not really relevant to his investigation unless campaign funds were used.

  6. Jenns says:

LOL that Bannon weaseled his way back into the picture. After all the candidates he endorsed lost and everyone figured out that he really is a loser and not some strategic genius, he’s trying to stay relevant.

    • MVC says:

Last I heard Bannon is now working for a extreme right-wing party of Spain called “VOX” to “combat separatist propaganda outside of Spain” go figure… A match made in heaven.

    • Parigo says:

I think Bannon will be able to weasel his way back in since he remained pretty tight lipped and the Jvanka faction has been weakened. His main adversaries like Kelly are gone now too. All the semi-sane people have left and Trump will probably reward him for not turning on him.

    • Christin says:

The big bad wolf is back to blow the house down! Seriously, we know things are desperate when the other blowhard shows up to help.

So many have left, and others are missing in action. Where is the super couple? Shopping for a new address overseas?

  7. Beth says:

If this is true, will this be the last straw on the camels back for Melania?

    • oh-dear says:

I think she would be justified in leaving a contract if this is true (not justified in my eyes, as I think she has always been justified). Trump could acquiesce to letting her leave, whereas I don’t think she could right now without giving up access to Baron.

  8. minx says:

He looks just terrible in that top signing picture. Gives me hope that this is all getting to him.

    • Rapunzel says:

It totally is. Did you see the Newsweek article titled “Trump Is So Angry, He Mostly Just Eats and Watches TV: Report” ? I can’t link it, but dang it’s good. And we know it’s true.

      • Indiana Joanna says:

Read it and really confirms what has already been stated about him.

      • minx says:

        Yes, I did.

      • H3NightOwl says:

Crazy that a true news article these days is like something out of the Onion

      • Swack says:

If you read his daily schedule there is not much to it. Today he has:

        9:00 AM
Pool Call Time In-Town Travel Pool Call Time
        11:00 AM
President Schedule The President meets with governors and members of Congress Cabinet Room
        Closed Press
        1:45 PM
President Schedule The President gives remarks on tax cuts for American workers

According to his schedule he has not had an intelligence briefing since Monday and does not have one today – at least a formal one they put on the schedule. This is so unacceptable it’s not even funny anymore.

      • H3NightOwl says:

Maybe it is better that he does not have an intelligence briefing – less to leak to non-allies?

  9. MVC says:

Imagine discovering Trump is your father…

    • Beth says:

That would be soooo embarrassing. I don’t care how rich and powerful he is, knowing that my mother touched him ,and I had his genes, would be humiliating. Thankfully my mom has better taste in guys

      • MVC says:

Not even his money would make me want to take that surname. Forever tainted. The only one that has my sympathy is Barron.

      • Beluga says:

@MVC I’d take it. That much money and media attention? I’d be criticising his every move in the press, making massive donations to women’s shelters and Planned Parenthood, becoming besties with Hillary with loads of publicity… Generally being a pest that won’t go away.

      • MVC says:

@Beluga: Now that you say that, I take back my comment. 🤣

      • jwoolman says:

MVC- my prediction is that Tiffany and Barron will eventually change their last names to their mothers’ original family names. Tiffany will certainly figure out that 1) studying hard will get more certain $$$$ than expecting any money for her to be left in her father’s will and 2) the name Trump will be a liability in her career.

    • smcollins says:

      *shudders*

    • Kitten says:

It would be like when Luke discovered Darth Vader was his dad, except Darth Vader was a kinder and more likable guy.

      • Rapunzel says:

Kitten, Darth Vader also had better style. None of these ill tailored suits with too long ties scotch taped to his shirt. Vader also had a better voice. And Trump needs his face covered too.

But don’t mention Vader around Trump . He might decide to have his “space force” build a Death Star instead of the wall! It’d stop illegals and attack Syria! His base would love it.

Oh, and we all know the character from Star Wars that most resembles Trump is Jabba the Hutt. Ivanka in a gold bikini, anyone?

      • Kelly says:

And Vader sacrificed his life to save his son. Trump is likely to do the opposite.

      • Kitten says:

Hahaha yeah Jabba is a far better comparison. Also agree about Vader having more style that Trump The Dumpy Frump.

    • Kelly says:

We should all look in the mirror and make sure we don’t have the weak Trump chin and anus-mouth.

      • stinky says:

        correction: fish-lipped anus-mouth
(I think the known term is “parrot-mouth”)

      • Beth says:

Ugh. It’s amazing how his anul, parrot-mouth looks so tiny while talking, but when he’s done, it’s a shit eating grin that stretches across his entire orange face. That Trump family chin looks like a tumor

  10. Sassyfrass says:

He’s going down like a ton of bricks.

  11. Nicole says:

He probably never wrapped it up so I’m sure there are several trump kids running around. Or would be kids. Gross

  12. Parigo says:

I wish he’d just make up some health excuse and quit…but then there’d be Pence.

    • smcollins says:

Right? The epitome of who’s the lesser of two evils.

    • Beluga says:

Given the choice between a vile man and a vile man who could declare nuclear war via twitter any second…

    • Rapunzel says:

I’ll say it till I die: Trump should’ve resigned before the electoral college voted. It was the perfect solution. Say “Hillary won the popular vote, and I wanna step back and let the people’s choice lead.” Then, go back to Trump Tower and start Trump TV to criticize Hillary’s entire presidency, always reminding everyone that she is only in charge cause he was so magnanimous.

With his rabid following, he could’ve created the new Fox News, only more powerful (though more sleezy). Now, he’s just gonna watch his whole world crumble.

It was so dumb of him.

      • Esmom says:

Yeah I hear you but it’s not in his makeup to concede like that, especially to “Crooked H.” As someone said, he didn’t want to win but he also didn’t want to lose.

      • Rapunzel says:

Esmom- +1 to your comment, and I’ll add that going against his own best interests makes him like his followers.

      • Parigo says:

Yea, he’s such a narcissist that he wanted it both ways. I think his dream was to win the popular and lose the electoral, that way he wouldn’t have to actually do the job but could forever brag that he was the real winner and it was alllll rigged. Well, it was, in his favor.

  13. Svea says:

So more interference in the election and news suppression, this time from within by the original progenitor of fake news American Media. If I thought y’all bought those rags I’d say boycott them. Sadly, the Trumpsters will probably only buy more National Enquirers since they want to reward the man who protects their hero.

  14. Eric says:

Sessions is a tough choice for Emperor Zero.

On one tiny hand, if he doesn’t fire him, EZ has to deal with Sessions’ perjury talk, his admission to talks with Kislyak, and the recusal over the “Russer” thing.

On the other tiny hand, Sessions has a lot of friends in congress due to his lengthy stint in Alabama. Firing Sessions would leave a bitter taste in the GOP’s mouth and could instigate impeachment talks via Sessions complaining.

    • Jenns says:

Also, Trump is a coward and doesn’t like firing people. Even when Comey was fired, he waited until he was on the West Coast and made the announcement through the TV news.

If he doesn’t like someone, he pulls this passive aggressive move until they quit. But Sessions isn’t going to quit, because he hates minorities more than Trump. So he’ll take being humiliated if that means he can make black people’s lives harder.

Bo Jeff has supporters that may leave Nazi island if he dumps him, so he is afraid, and then, of course, he has to worry about him talking to the special counsel.
Other reasons aren’t apparent yet, but something is holding him back that I can’t figure out. I think it goes beyond the investigation.
I don’t think he will fire Mueller because I believe he is betting on pardons and he can’t do that with state charges.

    • jwoolman says:

And the Elf might be negotiating with Mueller. If not now, maybe after getting fired by the Orange Maroon. The Elf gave up his Senate career for this.

We are pretty die-hard bleeding heart damned happily atheist libruls who are not exactly huge fans of republican intelligence officials, but have honestly started contemplating the prospect of a little tiny household shrine with an icon of Mueller once all this is over…

And coming to CB is helping me stay sane during this Cheeto Benito administration for sure!

      • jwoolman says:

Lindy-I was trying to find a Catholic patron saint for you to start your little shrine early. Catholics traditionally like to ask saints for a little intercession with the Chief in troubled times, although contrary to Protestant mythology that doesn’t keep them from communicating directly with the Chief. Just a nice little connection with those that have gone before. (Heretical me almost converted a Protestant minister to Catholicism accidentally when I explained this tradition in detail to him, he was so enchanted by it. Or so he said.)

Didn’t find anything specific for investigators, but Wikipedia lists these three that might work:

Thomas More – politicians, statesmen, lawyers, civil servants, court clerks. Feast Day is June 22. Also is the patron saint of difficult marriages (just for you, Melania). Seems quite relevant to the Trump Administration antics, considering that More got his head chopped off for resisting Henry VIII who allegedly said in exasperation “Will no one rid me of this meddlesome priest?” in a haunting foreshadowing of those meddlesome kids in Scooby Doo, who were definitely investigators.

Yves – lawyers (aka Ivo). He is also the patron saint of abandoned children and the poor, which both sound kind of relevant to me in reference to Trump’s various family dysfunctions, the current topic of his hidden child or children, and his Presidential activities against the non-1%. Feast Day is May 19.

Genesius – actors, comedians, clowns, dancers, theatrical performers of all kinds, also attorneys, barristers, lawyers. Feast Day is August 25. Also patron saint of thieves, epileptics, and torture victims which seems rather relevant to the Trump Administration (minus the epileptics, unless some people with epilepsy are reporting that Trump triggers seizures just as he may be a migraine trigger). A rather interesting combination, since Mueller is investigating a clown.

From my state and he is totally denying it as a conspiracy against him and is a “political witch hunt” Sound familiar? Trump endorsed him and he has NO political experience going into the governorship of Missouri. Trump has been here a couple times endorsing the republican candidates.

      • Kitten says:

YES! I saw the clips (didn’t know you were from Missouri, Swak!) and it’s just surreal…it’s sort of like a Sinclair script where these guys are trained to use the same effin language to deny their transgressions and manipulate their mouth-foaming base.

I was thinking when I listened to him of John Edwards’s extramarital affair and how greatly that damaged his public image. Then I thought of Trump, Roy Moore, Pruitt, and all the other Rethuglicans who have misused campaign money, been accused of affairs or molesting underage women, accused of sexual assault or harassment, and the myriad of other accusations of corruption…and nobody on the Right seems to blink an eye.

It just blows my mind how arrogant and entitled these thugs are–no remorse, no accountability–these aholes actually DOUBLE-DOWN on the excuses and blame everyone else except themselves. Meanwhile, the party of family values (both politicians AND constituents) looks the other way EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.
        It’s uncanny.

People here are die hard republicans – especially in the rural areas. Greitin is also pro-Right to Work and dismantling unions.

  21. Becks says:

Sessions, for all his faults (or maybe because of those faults) is very well liked by the senate, especially people like Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham. Firing him would really piss off the people in the Senate who support Trump (by actions if not words), especially because they lost his seat to a Democrat.

I have also read – and I cant find the source now – but that if Trump fires Sessions, the next AG has to go through a senate confirmation. If Sessions quits, then Trump can move someone else into the AG spot who has already been confirmed by the senate for another position (so…Scott Pruitt, or DeVos.) So that would explain why Trump is goading Sessions, but wont fire him.

    • Christin says:

Can’t believe I am giving Jeffy Beau credit for something, but last month’s public dinner with the next two higher-ups (Rod R and the next in command) was actually a brilliant move.

They were photographed dining together (in a DC restaurant sans gaudy gold lettering) right after one of the tweeting meltdowns and it supposedly infuriated Mr. Taped Tie.

    • The Other Katherine says:

Yes. Sessions, for all his vile policies and views, apparently has great personal charm and is still tight with a lot of Republican senators. If he has thought about it, Trump probably doesn’t want to end up in an impeachment situation where there might actually be 2/3 of the Senate willing to vote for conviction. More importantly, Don McGahn is just bright enough to understand how much sh*t would rain down if Trump fired Sessions to impede Mueller’s investigation, which is why Sessions isn’t gone already.

Steve Vladeck had a good explainer on Slate on what would happen if Trump fires Sessions. Rosenstein would become acting AG by default, but under the Federal Vacancies Act, Trump could theoretically shove anyone in there as acting AG if they have already been confirmed by the Senate for *something* (e.g., Scott Pruitt). The uncertainty arises from a lack of case law as to whether the Federal Vacancies Act language applies when the previous occupant of the position was fired. The White House lawyers would of course argue that it does and Trump’s hand-picked acting AG would most likely fill the role while it got hashed out in court. Regardless, the Federal Vacancies Act constrains a successor who is placed in the role this way (as someone who was confirmed for a different post, then shunted over) from taking the position permanently. Trump could try to put Scott Pruitt in under the Federal Vacancies Act and then do a recess appointment of a different permanent AG in August to avoid those pesky confirmation hearings, and that recess appointment would run through the end of the next Senate session (Jan. 3, 2019). But I don’t think Sessions is going anywhere. Rosenstein — well, we’ll see.

So what does all this mean for all of Hollywood with NDA’s. Like Beyoncé etc. ? Just wondering. I guess that they should not use them anymore? That would change the world can you imagine if all their stuff about Jay Z affair got out because we all know there is an NDA on that!!! I say all of them should be invalid and raid all of Hollywood lawyers etc. Would you not love to know all the junk about Angie and Brad. No wonder none of Hollywood can run for President. You know Orphah has them too. Interesting.

    • Tiffany :) says:

It doesn’t mean anything for Hollywood (or Corporate America’s) NDAs. From what I have read, the reason Trump’s are an issue is that legally, money paid to someone to keep a story from becoming an election issue could be considered a campaign donation and a violation of election law if it isn’t reported or is over a certain amount.

      • jwoolman says:

Yes, using campaign money to cover up his mistress and their child was what destroyed John Edwards. He was in legal trouble only because of the money issue. Even though not convicted (deadlocked jury), he had a different level of publicity over it did that reason.

Trump’s problem isn’t all the hidden Trumplings and abortions but rather potential violations of campaign finance law. That’s also why it matters if foreigners (Russians) contributed to his campaign either with money or with valuable items/services (hacking, Wikileaks etc.).

  36. Jules says:

His compulsive lying and corrupt dealings make this plausible. He himself — not the media or his enemies or his advisors — routinely demonstrates a deeply flawed and unethical character that makes payoffs and deflection more consistent than upstanding, honest behaviour.

  37. Suze says:

So I’m confused. Then the idea of the love child and the door man isn’t an issue because it is was years ago right? And if you pay someone money so they don’t talk about your affairs and you are running for office that is a donation? I honestly don’t understand. I do think now though that these NDA ‘s will be looked at in a different light after Weinstein and Trump. Seriously would you not love one of Brad and Angie’s nannies to talk. As well aren’t people who threaten to talk about someone blackmailers??

    • jwoolman says:

Trump wouldn’t get into trouble because of the child and the mother. It’s the 2016 money transfer to kill the story that is the problem. That is a valuable service for the campaign but was not disclosed as a campaign contribution.

  38. why? says:

I feel like we have heard this maid love child story before. So when the press suddenly drops a story, it’s because the Dotard had his friends at the E silence it.

The Pompeo hearing was a joke. He wouldn’t answer any of the questions that the Democrats asked him and as usual the republicans turned the hearing into a praisefest. Cornyn was praised by the press as the voice of reason and for standing up to the Dotard, but today he showed that he is nothing more than the Dotard’s puppet.

Based on the reports that are coming out, Mueller has indeed been coddling the Dotard. We already know what his report is going to say because the Dotard and WH have been bragging for weeks that Mueller said that he isn’t a target and that there isn’t any information to convince him of a crime. I just wish these republicans would stop falling into the same complicity trap over and over again. Everyone had so many high hopes for Mueller, but it looks like he is going to let the Dotard go. What is it going to take for them to do something about the Dotard and his corrupt family? I still don’t understand why Mueller hasn’t done anything about Nunes. It was reported that Rosenstein met with the Dotard today. The last time that Rosenstein met with the Dotard, it was because the Dotard requested that he write a letter to support Comey’s firing. So Rosenstein is going to fire Mueller.

The press once again is failing us. The Dotard verbally attacks everyone and now they are upset because Comey threw some shade at the Dotard(talked about his small hands, orange color, and questioned his germaphobe nonsense). This is why we have the Dotard as the president. The press is also guilty of coddling the Dotard.

    • jwoolman says:

If asked by the person or their attorney, the FBI has to tell them which category they currently fall into: target (prepare to be a defendant, you’re most likely being indicted soon), subject (we’re still investigating you but are not close to indictment, no or insufficient evidence yet for criminal activity), or witness (you know something that might be relevant so we want to chat with you, but you are not under investigation yourself).

A subject can shift to being a target in an instant, or may be cleared. Unless you are sure you have never engaged in criminal activity, being a subject of an investigation is not cause for celebration except in Trumpland.

Mueller is not coddling Trump. He is operating by the book. He is sharing with relevant state authorities and state convictions cannot be pardoned by a President. Because the DoJ thinks a sitting President cannot be indicted (they are probably wrong), his plan is likely to hand over a thorough report and evidence to Congress for impeachment. He is handing out plea deals like candy in hopes of getting that evidence on the top, in particular Donald and maybe Pence. This isn’t a tv show. It took two years to get to the point of impeaching Nixon for Watergate unless he resigned.

By the way, we don’t really know that Nunes isn’t in Mueller’s sights. Mueller’s team doesn’t leak.

Trump’s true base is full of people who are not going to change their minds. They’re stupid. Lots of people voted for Trump as a “one-off” – for many it was an I just don’t like Hillary vote – and many of these folk have already seen the error of their ways.

I think a whole lot of the “Trump’s base” talk is relevant to Republicans only at this point. Which is just fine with me. Trump’s base candidates can be beaten by a well placed middle of the road Democratic candidate, as we’ve already seen in the Roy Moore loss in Alabama and the Democrat Lamb win in the Western Pennsylvania special election.

Trump’s latest problem: His lawyer Cohen has a reputation for tape recording his telephone calls. Oh, how wonderful if true! Supposedly Cohen often talked to Trump at midnight. Gee, I hope the recorder was running.

Now supposedly Cohen is calm throughout this. Because he believes no harm will come to him since his buddy Trump can pardon him? Ha Ha Makes me think of Nixonian former Attorney General John Mitchell. He was sure Nixon was going to pardon him. Even all the way through his trial he thought a pardon was coming. It never came. The ONLY one who got a pardon was Nixon – all the rest were convicted. Many went to jail. Including former Attorney General John Mitchell.

    • Tata Mata says:

Well, a lawyer who tapes phone calls would have to be an i**** if those tapes would get into the wrong hands. I expect him to hide them well. And yes, such a lawyer can expect a presidential pardon because else those tapes would surface somehow and damage Trump and/or his business.
