Blake Shelton tweeted about ‘karma’ after Miranda Lambert-homewrecking story broke

49th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards held at MGM Garden Arena - Arrivals

Yesterday, we discussed Miranda Lambert and how she’s just That Woman. That Woman who has to screw around, that woman who seems to get off on “getting” men with wives or girlfriends. Miranda and Anderson East called it quits in February, at some point. Now it turns out that around the same time, Miranda was sleeping with Evan Felker, the married frontman of Turnpike Troubadours. Felker left his wife around the same time, in February. I don’t know… like, do I need to draw a map? Miranda was banging a married man, and she destroyed her relationship with Anderson and Felker’s marriage simultaneously.

Some of you took issue with me calling her a “homewrecker,” and I hear you: Felker wrecked his own marriage. Felker is responsible for his own sh-t, absolutely. But the larger point was that this was not the first time Miranda has done this. And the larger point is that Miranda managed to exit her marriage from Blake Shelton relatively unscathed – she’s still winning every country music award as we speak – even though there were many rumors about just how thoroughly she had been cheating on Blake. So here’s something interesting… Blake tweeted this yesterday:

He also retweeted this:

blake retweet

The people in his mentions were all over it. They knew the exact story he was referencing. I suspect that Miranda-homewrecking-another-dude is BIG gossip in the country music community and that Blake probably heard about this weeks ago and he was waiting for the story to hit the mainstream. Here’s my question: do you think Blake was truly “taking the high road”? I think he was… to a certain extent. He divorced Miranda swiftly and made it clear that she had done something, but he never really spoke about it. That’s his version of the high road. Tweeting half-cryptically about karma isn’t really the high road though… but still, God bless him, because I’m enjoying this messy saga.

Except she didn’t force you to cheat on your spouse with her?? So yes karma but for you too idiot

    • Snazzy says:

Well exactly. I mean she is who she is, fine. But he cheated too. It’s not like she forced him

    • Zapp Brannigan says:

I wonder if Blake’s karma for cheating on his first wife is being stuck in the ninth circle of Gwen Stefani hell.

Lambert will get professional fallout for a messy personal life that a man would never see. He would just be a good old boy.

      • Shotcaller says:

Jeez, what has Gwen done to warrant this? She wouldn’t even be with Blake if Gavin hadn’t boinked the nanny. She hasn’t hurt anyone here.

      • Kelly says:

Thank you! Miranda rightfully gets dragged for being a messy, vicious woman but Blake somehow walks away shining clean. He cheated on his first wife and he almost certainly cheated on Miranda as well-he just managed to get the sympathetic edit. He’s due some karma on his end, if she is.

      • Merritt says:

I have to agree with Shotcaller. What exactly has Gwen done? And if he doesn’t like being with Gwen , he can break things off.

      • isabelle says:

Some women be jealous of Gwen apparently.

      • Anon33 says:

NO ONE is jealous of Gwen. I wouldn’t touch Blake (or Gavin, or Tony) with someone else’s vagina, not even if you paid me. And her look is played and outdated, so no, I’m not jealous of her supposed “beauty” either. What we are, are former fans who are disappointed that she used to be a kickass public figure and role model for women and now she’s this cheesy reality mess.

      • ... says:

        Hahahaha!

      • ... says:

Yeah…no ones jealous of Gwen. She’s a mess. Most people think they are in a showmance anyway.
She’s got three kids and seems very out of touch, very shallow….very self centered. Frankly her appearance is downright ridiculous most of the time.
She was cool in no doubt years ago….but we’ve all grown up. Including no doubt. The young people aren’t into Gwen.

      • elle says:

        co-sign Anon33.

    • Delta Juliet says:

Yeah, I mean I understand, but don’t be TOO proud of your self Blake.

    • Shaz says:

      Thank you Nicole. Exactly!

  2. Millennial says:

I think you are right that Blake has known for a while, and I can’t say I blame him for gloating. It’s also just his personality.

I don’t see things working out for Evan and Miranda long term. Nashville is a small town and it sounds like she’s already burned some bridges in the mainstream realm and East Nashville. Her last album got almost zero radio play even though it sold really well. I’m just saying, she’s primed for a career falloff and country music has no mercy for women artists.

    • Erinn says:

‘I can’t say I blame him for gloating”

Except he homewrecked his home WITH Miranda supposedly. So any cheating that she may have done on him would ALSO be karma. So it’s kind of ridiculous for him to gloat about it when karma also took him down with her already.

      • Millennial says:

I see what you mean. I do generally give celebs a pass the first time they cheat/homewreck because for them it might just be true love. I feel that way about Garth Brooks/Trisha Yearwood for example. People were mad at first but they got over it.

I think Miranda tried to coast on the story that she didn’t do anything wrong and it’s clearly come back to bite her butt. That might be why Blake is taking the low road now.

      • Clare says:

It’s just kind of pathetic for s grown ass man (or woman) to be tweeting this petty shit. It’s just straight up lame. Grow up. No one here comes out looking good.

        Gross.

      • Jen says:

I think the implication in these posts is Miranda may have cheated ON Blake as well as WITH Blake. I can’t say I’m heartbroken for him but that’s my impression.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I don’t think the country music industry is turning their backs on her.

She won the ACM & CMA awards for “Female Vocalist of the Year” in 2017, as well as ACM “Album of the Year”. In 2018 she was ACM “Vocalist of the Year” and “Song of the Year”.

  3. deets says:

If someone’s takes the man you’ve got, why would you want him? He’s not an inanimate object to be stolen, so it shows two things, a lack of loyalty and a lack of responsibility. A person doesn’t get taken, then choose to go.
Beware of anyone who life ‘happens’ to, they do not take responsibility for their own actions.

Anyhow, that ramble aside, homewrecking as a term puts the entire onus on the woman (or the outside partner). It often plays into the male bumbler myth, that’s why it’s so dangerous. It typically puts women as the authors of action only when it’s seduction, and men as the poor souls torn away from their virtuous loves by a evil seductress. Placing men as the poor weak sods, always tempted and unable to control themselves. Bumbler myth.

I’m sure this was already covered in yesterday’s thread though.

    • MI6 says:

Wow. Thank you, Deets. Could not have said it better.
Society conditions us to position women either as victims or villains with no grey area in between. Women are taught from an early age to “get” a man, and not just any man – the richest, best-looking and most successful man. I would argue that many men are exploited in this way. Love is not a bounty hunt where the winner goes home with the biggest and best trophy in any gender.
We are all flawed and human. No one can “wreck” a marriage that isn’t already in trouble. And the “other woman” is not the cheating partner.

      • Summer says:

@MI6 – You make good points about the imbalance of blame and shame that women receive for infidelity. After all, the only person who can wreck a home is a member of that household. Evan betrayed his wife, just like Miranda betrayed her boyfriend, just like Blake apparently betrayed his first wife.

That said, CHEATING IS WRONG. Period. No amount of mental gymnastics or justification makes it right. All adults are capable of ending one relationship before starting another. It’s just common decency. No chemistry or attraction or flawed humanity can justify betraying a partner. And no, a marriage doesn’t need to be in trouble to be destroyed by a cheating partner. All it takes is two jerks with no patience or no conscience.

(I’m sure this sounds like I’m speaking from experience, but gratefully I have never cheated or been cheated on. But I’m just sick and tired of the normalization of adultery. Break up, get a divorce, THEN move on!)

      • MI6 says:

@ Summer: no one is “normalziing” cheating/adultery. It IS wrong.
But people don’t cheat if they’re happy.

      • Carrie1 says:

MI6 – people do cheat if they’re happy. If they’re immature, callous and cruel especially. Or, some have open arrangements I’ve heard. I’ve been cheated on and very familiar with this life experience.

Long story, long ago, but cheating is first the cheating partners fault and second the one who cheated with them.

I think Blake is horrid and he gets no pass from me. Miranda is about the same as him it sounds like. Shame they didn’t stay together. Might’ve saved some other relationships.

    • isabelle says:

A cheater is a cheater, she has done it multiple times, she is not innocent victim. Blake is also a cheater. Both are cheaters but it Miranda the most recently int he tabloids, after-all the gossip is about her, so of course its her we are going to be labeling as the cheater. Why turn this on Blake when she is the one who cheated, her choice her gossip.

      • VirgiliaCoriolanus says:

Exactly. He’s smart enough to keep his mouth shut. Some people are their own worst enemies.

    • BorderMollie says:

Agree. I mean in addition to everything women must shoulder, we also have to keep men perfectly faithful? Come on! So called ‘homewreckers’ often deserve censure, though individual circumstances vary of course, but it’s ultimately the partnered person’s responsibility to not cheat.

  4. Lucy2 says:

Um… didn’t he cheat on his first wife with Miranda? I thought that was pretty common knowledge. Those who live in glass houses shouldn’t go around throwing karma stones.

Miranda needs to stop and get some therapy or something.

    • MellyMel says:

I was just about to say the same thing. He and Miranda are very much alike in that regard.

  5. mellie says:

With all that everyone is stating about his alleged cheating…he probably should have stayed on the self-proclaimed high road and kept his tweeting to himself. He just sounds ridiculously juvenile.

  6. DP says:

    Wow. Definitely a pattern here!
She cheated on Blake too?! Yikes!
I thought Blake claimed, he split with his wife then got with Miranda? Not true?
Crazy, with this pattern… until now she has done fine in the media as far as I can tell… I actually had thought he cheated on her! How’d she spin that?

  7. Div says:

Blake cheated in his first wife and supposedly also cheated on Miranda but took umbrage with her cheating since it was a full fledged affair vs. his casual flings. Basically, everyone in this mess is a jerk (except the wife) and needs therapy to learn how to take responsibility or they should avoid monogamy.

I dislike the term homewrecker since one wrecks their own home (not taking the blame off the other person since they are guilty of acting like a total trashy ass) and it is almost exclusively applied to women. But yeah, Miranda is that type that gets off on getting with people who are taken. There are messy people, messy people who line up jump offs, and then the next level is what Miranda does.

  8. SM says:

I wonder what the conversation between Gwen and Blake looks when they are drunk. Or better yet – if they ever got high together (which I assume is not an option for conservative Blake). They probably just get lost in their own worlds of self-pitty, barading their exes, like: “I put on make up every day for him and he still cheated”
I still can’t believe they succesfully pushed that “Blake is the sexiest man alive” thing….

  9. LaraK says:

I think he has taken the relatively high road. Yes he broke up has first marriage, but that was over 10 years ago! Not saying it was innocent, but it happens – people fall in love and move on. It does happen.

But with this divorce, he was very quiet, while Miranda went all over the place talking about broken hearts. He never went out there to say “broken heart , my country a$$ – you were sleeping with half of Nashville!” So yeah, I can give him a little room to gloat about karma.

I will say that I have a friend in Nashville who works in the country music industry, and FWIW she said it’s common knowledge Miranda will hit on any hot married guy. Its gossip, but one based on observation.

    • Millennial says:

Yeah, I think you put into words what I couldn’t. She really played up that broken heart narrative on her album and during her promotional tour and Blake stayed quiet – probably because his publicist told him too. I think he feels vindicated now. It’s still trashy to tweet about it, but I understand where his feelings are coming from.

      • CosmicCreepers says:

These are lyrics to a song Blake put out shortly after Miranda:

Little words like “I” and “do”
        Lying, cheating, screwed
Yeah all the words I thought I knew
They got a brand new meaning now
She put the her in hurt
She put the why in try
She put the S.O.B. In sober
She put the hang in hangover
She put the ex in sex
She put the low in blow
She put a big f.U. In my future
        Yeah she’s got a way
She’s got a way with words
Yeah she’s got a way with words

So he did have some thinly veiled comments.

      • Millenial says:

Ugh, I had forgotten about that song. It was sooooo bad.

    • Div says:

I mean, there were some shady photos of him with other women and the rumor was that he cheated too…I think that kind of got swept under the rug since the media tends to focus on women and Miranda kind of admitted her cheating. But even if he didn’t cheat on Miranda, he did on his first wife so the karma is dumb and hypocritical. And yeah, Miranda should not have made her album about broken hearts

    • Chrissyms says:

He wasn’t quiet. He was too busy flaunting his new relationship.

  10. NoShame says:

How is he taking the high road? He couldn’t wait to gloat about this on Twitter. That’s the opposite of high road. Maybe his first wife should set him straight about his own cheating. What a douche.

    • Ozogirl says:

      Totally agree! RUN GWEN!

    • LadyT says:

This tweet keeps being misinterpreted. He took the high road by not blasting Miranda for cheating on him. He never said a word. She got to maintain her standing in country music and sing about broken hearts. Now that she’s caught for the third time, her serial cheating behavior is clear to all and her reputation will take a hit. Karma but not by his hands.
I realize he cheated on his first wife and the tweet is probably unwise. But it’s about exposing cheating, not the cheating. He did in fact keep his mouth shut for a couple of years and she finally exposed herself.

      • NoShame says:

But he still didn’t take the high road. He’s running his mouth off on Twitter. If he had actual class he’d say nothing. You know, since she already exposed herself.

Also, the reason he probably never said a word after they split is because he was likely cheating too and didn’t want to expose himself.

      • LadyT says:

You’re right in that he could have continued to keep his mouth shut. I did say the tweet was unwise.

      • Jussie says:

Except he didn’t keep his mouth shut. He wrote a song about her cheating on him, a song so obvious it made Taylor Swifts blind item songs seem inscrutable in comparison.

His sources also did plenty of leaking when they split. Just because he didn’t go on the record calling her a cheater doesn’t mean he wasn’t saying it to every publication that would listen.

  11. HelloSunshine says:

Even prior to Blake, wasn’t there a big thing about Miranda OB a tour of making an album or something and trying to get at a major country star? Idk the whole story, I’m not into country at all but girl is a mess, that’s for sure.

Also I see no issue with calling someone a home wrecker as long as you’re calling BOTH people involved it. So he’s the bigger home wrecker, but she clearly has a thing for married men and is also one.

    • MeNina says:

I don’t mind homwrecker either as long as it applies to both. The last person I’m going to worry about labeling is a cheater. The bulk of blame goes to the person who broke vows in their marriage to cheat. But the other man or woman are real aholes too for cheating with someone in a relationship.

    • Tallia says:

The rumor was about Eric Church.

The song was Kacey Musgraves, “Mama’s Broken Heart”. The really interesting thing is that there were a ton of stories and rumors about how she took the song, but if you look online now? You can find nothing. Maybe just a story about Kacey Musgraves being “reluctant” to give her the song. That’s it.

      • Happy21 says:

        Yes, the Eric Church rumor!
I also remember her calling him out on Twitter for comments he made about people being made stars because of TV singing competitions since she won (I think she won) Nashville Star. She was pretty bitchy if I remember correctly.

As far as the song that Miranda ‘stole’ it was co-written by Kacey and Brandy Clark and they have both said while it is a great song, it is a song that neither one of them could pull off, it was the perfect fit for Miranda.

  12. Chrissyms says:

Miranda’s personal life has what to do with her winning awards? Her music is really good. Also if this guy files for divorce in February do you think that his marriage was in a good place before that point? Were they separated? Do we know anything about his marriage? (Evans) Blake is still hung up on Miranda and him even giving this the time of day is pretty lame. Via tweet? Is this high school? You are a cheater also Blake. Karma is convienent. I am side eyeing Miranda here… don’t get me wrong. But I am not buying the good guy Blake narrative here. If I was Gwen I would be wondering why he cares

  13. Chrissyms says:

Also Male artists get such a pass for this. Kind of stuff. Miranda isn’t the only person in the music biz to act like this. This whole narrative bugs me

  14. Pinky says:

Such hypocrisy for Blake to shout Karma, he cheated on his wife and destroy their marriage when he gets involved with Miranda. His ego still cannot accept up to now that Miranda cheated on him with some random guy. For Man POV, being cheated on means he is not good enough.

  15. No Doubtful says:

This is not taking the high road Blake. This is childish! Plus he has no right to point fingers when he cheated on his first wife!!! What a moron. Gwen…you sure know how to pick em. This is why I have always said that those two are not as happy and in love as they like to portray. They are both obsessed with their exes and that’s the only thing they have in common.. It’s been 3 years, move on.

  16. Jess says:

This does seem to be a pattern with her, and it’s disgusting. Falling for a married man I’ll never understand, maaaaybe once I’ll give you a pass, but twice you actually are a home wrecker. That’s literally what she enjoys, playing a part in breaking up marriages. It doesn’t matter that she’s not the married one, she’s old enough to know better and it’s just as bad. This isn’t her karma though, that will come when she’s truly in love and married and another woman f*cks her husband.

Ugh, I hate cheating. It’s such a hurtful thing to do, and even more painful to be cheated on. I truly can’t be attracted to a married man, when I was out in the dating world as soon as a guy said he was married or with someone anything I may have felt instantly shut down. I would never do that to another woman.

  17. Chef Grace says:

I get so pissed off when one person is blamed for being a homewrecker. It takes two to tango. You can say no. Simple reply.
When cheating starts, it usually because there are issues in the relationship and that is used for the excuse to cheat. Some people like picking someone who is in a relationship because they feel it is secure that the other person will not get serious. Who the hell really knows.

  18. NotTodaySatan says:

Ugggh. Hardly the High road Blake. What happened in your first marraige dude?

He was vexed from appearances that their respective breakup albums received different receptions……..mirandas went platinum, his gold. Hers nominated and won several awards and he sat home the night of ACM awards.

    Sure that pissed him off.

Bottom line for me…….I don’t listen to music (or avoid music) because of the messy personal lives of the artists. Hell, particularly in country it often is fodder for their art.

Team Miranda the Artist here …..

    • ChrissyMS says:

I know he is a huge country star…but I find his music to be so corny and lame. I love Miranda’s music and am not usually into country.

      • NotTodaySatan says:

Me too. She’s the only currrent country singer I pay any attention to, The weight of these wings was one of the best albums I’ve heard in years, Went to see her in concert a couple of months ago, and I haven’t seen a country act in decades. She was so charismatic on stage.

  19. Sherry says:

Look at the lyrics to her song, “Vice” (one of my favorites) and it pretty much sums up her life. It’s as though she knows she’s got problems, but doesn’t know how to fix them. She needs a good therapist.

VICE (written by Miranda Lambert, Josh Osborne and Shane McAnally)
Steady as a needle dropping on a vinyl
Neon singer with a jukebox title full of heartbreak
    Thirty-three, forty-five, seventy-eight
When it hurts this good you gotta play it twice
    Another vice
All dressed up in a pretty black label
Sweet salvation on a dining room table
    Waiting on me
Where the numb meets the lonely
It’s gone before it ever melts the ice
    Another vice, another call
Another bed I shouldn’t crawl out of
At seven a.m. with shoes in my hand
Said I wouldn’t do it, but I did it again
And I know I’ll be back tomorrow night, oh
I wear a town like a leather jacket
When the new wears off, I don’t even pack it
    If you need me
I’ll be where my reputation don’t proceed me
    Maybe I’m addicted to goodbyes
    Another vice, another town
Where my past can’t run me down
    Another life, another call
Another bed I shouldn’t crawl out of
At seven a.m. with shoes in my hand
Said I wouldn’t do it, but I did it again
And I know I’ll be gone tomorrow night
    Mmm, another vice
Standing at the sink now, looking in a mirror
Don’t know where I am or how I got here
Well, the only thing that I know how to find
    Is another vice
    Mmm, another vice
    Yes, another vice
    Ooh, another vice
    Another vice
    Another vice
    Another vice

    • Lara K says:

She definitely needs a good therapist.

But she may think that with therapy her song writing would suffer… No joke, some artists would rather be messed up for fear of becoming normal and losing their inspiration.

      • Jayna says:

Or maybe she’s like a lot of men who continually cheat on spouses or boyfriends, and if the woman is married it doesn’t make a difference. They are selfish and only think about themselves and what they want in the moment and talk a good game about wanting to change, but don’t really want to.

    • Happy21 says:

LOVE the lyrics to that song. I remember when I first heard it, I listened to it as she would and I got goosebumps.

  20. Electric Tuba says:

If karma is real then explain to me what we have done to deserve Blake’s music lol
I’m not sorry and don’t care hahaha
    Ugggh they are so messssay!

  21. j says:

you can’t wreck someone else’s home.

  22. Jussie says:

Let’s not forget just how quickly he and Gwen confirmed their relationship and got serious after her split. Everyone gave them a pass because Gavin’s a dick, but it was obvious Blake was Gwen’s jump-off. So he had no problem hooking up with a married woman.

  23. Emileigh says:

I’m listening to Vice now in a different way. Such an amazing song.

  24. Dingo says:

Am I the only one who doesn’t believe his relationship with Gwen is real?

    • ... says:

      No you’re not.

    • NotTodaySatan says:

Blind Gossip wrote a bl8nd that was clearly him. The basic story was he wants her back, knew her time with east was coming to an end, but he wanted to be sure he’d be next very quickly and without competition before he “broke up “ with Gwen, They’ve pretty much said all along that it’s a fake relationship, Not sure I buy “fake” but I’m pretty sure he isn’t all in, and that Gwen’s gonna be dumped Sooner or Later.

  25. Riley says:

OK, I’m really confused. If Miranda was cheating on Blake and he was cheating on her, how is this karma? Also. if Blake was married when they met, he’s as big of a douche as she is, if she was cheating on him or was instrumental in breaking up another relationship.

I’m old school about this stuff in that the one that’s married is responsible for their own behavior. The 3rd person is wrong as well but blaming them for the actions of the married person is BS. Just like Jolie wasn’t responsible for Brad cheating and Aniston wasn’t responsible for Theroux cheating. These people are all grown.

Anyway, the best I can come up with this Blake/Miranda situation since I don’t really follow them is they are both cheaters and deserved each other.

  26. Jo says:

Anyone who states that they are taking the high road… aren’t.

  27. A says:

I wonder why no one is calling that Turnpike Troubadour guy a homewrecker? By all accounts, he was married as well, wasn’t he? Why does the blame fall solely on Miranda Lambert?

That being said, the country music industry seems to be full of hypocrites. I don’t like LeAnn Rimes, but she basically got shut out of the industry after her scandal, no? And she was talented, by all means. It seems like there are only ever consequences for cheating in Nashville if it comes out in the open, and if you’re a woman. If it’s neither of the two, then it’s a free for all.

    • A says:

Going back to Evan Felker–the man didn’t *have* to sleep with Miranda Lambert. He didn’t have to get with her, or even share the same air as her. He could have turned her down, said no, walked away, gone on a long road trip, done some laundry, changed his sheets, cleaned his house–any number of things that weren’t sleeping with her and cheating on his wife. But he did. What does that say about him and the state of his marriage?

  28. Loca says:

Funny how Blake always responds to something about Miranda. Anyhow he is a cheater too that hasn’t stopped him.

  29. SJhere says:

Gwen Stefani needs to learn how to be happy without being with a man.
Gavin needs to shunned for sleeping with their kids Nanny while married.

As for Blake, I don’t care one fig for this guy. Sexiest Man my big butt!
I think it’s a fake romance between him and Gwen. Granted they may be sleeping together but, if so, he’s with her because she upped his profile. She is with him because she goes from one relationship to the next. And, I bet she was pretty quick to take up with a famous man who showed interest because Gavin really did her dirty and she had 3 very young kids, Blake is good looking enough and successful and why not after her hubby showed how little her cared?

Miranda? I have no interest in her or her career. Except I will say that if she is constantly going after married/taken men, well zero sympathy from me.
