Bella Hadid on the plastic surgery rumors: ‘We can do a scan of my face, darling’

2018 Monaco Grand Prix - Celebrity Sighting

Bella Hadid has a new interview with InStyle Magazine, and my guess is that this was some sort of promotional (interview/advertisement) piece for Dior Beauty, since Bella is a face of Dior Beauty and she name-checks the brand in the interview. What’s interesting here is that she specifically denies having plastic surgery and fillers… and I don’t really know how I feel about that. You can read the full piece here. Highlights:

Learning about beauty from her parents: “I learned about beauty from my mom, though mostly in terms of skin care. She’s always said that good skin is so much more important than the stuff you put on top of it. My dad, meanwhile, never wanted us to wear makeup, so we didn’t. I rode horses, and my sister [fellow supermodel Gigi] played volleyball. In my family, it wasn’t about how you looked; it was about how you competed.”

Her craziest beauty moment: “I’ve gone through a lot of phases. When I was 16, I really wanted to make a point of whatever it was I was trying to do, so I had grills before it was cool—I was definitely not cool—and I dyed my hair blue with pink underneath. And I had rainbow hair at one point too. It was hysterical. In terms of makeup, I really didn’t know how to do anything on my face until I started working with Dior and Peter Philips. I had no idea how to blend or how to do my brows. I look back like, “Wow girl, you’ve really learned.”

Her awkward teen years: “Yes. I had a small waist and big hips and was kind of chubby. I love them now, but I was always self-conscious of my hips—whereas my sister had a six-pack and was very athletic. And I thought I had such a weird face. I remember very distinctly getting bullied because of my features.

She denies having surgery or fillers: “People think I’m very confident, but I really had to learn how to be… People think I got all this surgery or did this or that. And you know what? We can do a scan of my face, darling. I’m scared of putting fillers into my lips. I wouldn’t want to mess up my face.”

[From InStyle]

Can you do a scan of someone’s face and see the fillers in their lips? I truly didn’t know you could do that. So if that’s true (??), then sure, maybe she doesn’t have lip fillers. But you can bet your ass that chica had a nose job. And I don’t get why that’s such a big deal? A lot of people have nose jobs. Just say “I had a deviated septum fixed when I was a teenager” and leave it at that. Don’t create this web of lies about how you’re all natural when the photo evidence exists. Also: I used to think that she had a boob job too, but I remember one half-naked photoshoot Bella did and I thought, at the time, “Oh, I see, her boobs are real!” So I do think she probably just had the nose job, and maybe some minor lip work and that’s it. It’s mostly subtle and natural-looking, so there’s that.

urgh how is this nothingburger a model

  2. Kezia says:

“Subtle and natural” work in what what world?!! She looks like a cat woman. She’s had all sorts of fillers all over her face, an eyebrow lift along with several nose jobs and god knows what else. Come on! Here we go another thing we can thank Kim k for- scans of body parts to “disprove surgery” which does no such thing. These celebrities must think we are so stupid, honestly.

    • Naptime says:

ITA, not subtle at all. She looks like a half-human 40 year old who’s fighting aging with all her might.

      • Lisa says:

This! I have an acquaintance that works on the models at fashion weeks and she said that Bella and Kendal Jenners faces are so full of fillers it really odd looking up close. But apparently Gigi is all natural and stunning in the flesh.

      • magnoliarose says:

I know right. Gigi has had work but nothing even close to this level. Bella B Natural looks like a 45 year old trophy wife married to a 70 year old Hollywood type who has his eye on a 19 year old ingenue. A few more procedures and she will be on the edges of Wildenstein territory.

      • minx says:

I almost hate to compare the two but Gigi is naturally pretty and has a unique look.

    • KHC says:

I have never once looked at her without thinking about her surgically altered face. Cosmetic surgery could hardly be LESS subtle than this. She’s basically a cobbled-together person.

      • minx says:

Same. She looks like a bunch of assembled parts.

      • Anika says:

KHC: Exactly, she looks like she was assembled in a factory. Really, just about every single feature appears manmade. Her cheekbones, lips, nose, jaw: a terrible and overt plastic surgeon (or several) is behind this so clearly, you can practically see the outline of their scalpels through her face. NO IDEA how such an obviously “done”, still borderline homely girl can be a top ranking model…Oh, right. Her billionaire father bought her an IMG contract, and paid for her modeling jobs. And social media, of course, did the rest…And all the people who are eager to be brainwashed, who hear “beautiful” attached to her name and artificial, manufactured face so often, they begin to imagine it is true.

    • AnnaKist says:

Spot on, Kezia. These celebs forget that we have eyes, memories and Google. They think if they tell the lies enough times, the lies become facts, and perhaps to them, they do.

      • Jan90067(aka imqrious2) says:

Sounds just like Dump’s Deplorables: say a lie enough times, and they believe it (Dump’s MO).

  3. Naptime says:

Go away, darling. All of you and your lot are fake, fake, fake. Smoke and mirrors, “contouring miracles,” photoshopped, lab created fakes. No one over 15 believes you.

  4. B says:

lol she’s bringing more attention to it by taking about it.

  5. tracking says:

Her surgeon went way too far with her nose, what a shame.

  6. K says:

    Bless her heart.

Edit: “In my family, it wasn’t about how you looked…” Well that principle went to sh*t quickly then. I also don’t believe this is the case in a family that has Yolanda Foster/Hadid/van den Herik in it.

    • Jan90067(aka imqrious2) says:

IKR??? In her family, looks are ALL that mattered! Girlfriend had her first nose job at 16!

  7. detritus says:

Lol ‘a scan’? What type of scan, dear heart?
Even ultrasound would only tell you if there’s implants, tmk fillers are undetectable from a ‘scan’ lol.
Didn’t Kim K or another K say something similar? Fat injections will also be unscannable.

    • AnnaKist says:

detritus: I think that’s exactly why she said it. And who would take her up on it?

    • Jan90067(aka imqrious2) says:

Didn’t KimK do that, when people said she got butt implants? She took an x-ray and said, “See? NO implants”… yeah honey, FAT INJECTIONS won’t show on an x-ray. Again, HOW can they possibly think ANYONE believes this shizz when there is photographic proof out there nowadays?

      • Harryg says:

What a waste of x-ray machinery and technicians’ time that idiotic stunt was.
Yeah I totally judge. I judge people like Bella Hadid and the Kardashians as long as they pollute my internet with dumb selfies. I judge, judge judge. If you don’t want to be judged, too bad.

    • Moneypenny424 says:

Ugh, I know. What, do they think that we think implants are made of steel or something?

  8. Jussie says:

I don’t think she’s denying everything, just denying a lot of the more recent claims that she’s pretty much made of fillers. I’ve seen a lot of people list like 50+ procedures she ‘definitely’ had, and talk about how she had a dozen procedures done in a day recently etc. and a lot of sites pick that nonsense up like it’s real. Every time she does something a little different with her makeup people start talking about all the new work she’s had done.

In reality she had a very obvious nose job that changed her whole face, but beyond that she looks the same. Maybe some lip injections about a year ago, but those are gone now.

    • bella says:

“In reality she had a very obvious nose job that changed her whole face, but beyond that she looks the same.”

That made me laugh. She got a whole new face. Generally requires a lot of what she’s denying.

  9. Barry Iris says:

Bella had the same treatment Kylie had.

    But Bella used better surgeons!

  10. Zapp Brannigan says:

Don’t need a scan we have eyeballs and photos of you pre-surgery plastered all over the interwebs, darling.

I cry for the days when Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Naomi (Duck!) Campbell were modeling.

    • magnoliarose says:

This newish fakery will pass and is passing as we speak. It just takes time to trickle into the mainstream.

  11. Reef says:

Of all the lies celebrities tell, the plastic surgery lie is the most infuriating. It’s so easy to disprove.
Bella seems so corny to me. She has as much personality as a sack of flour.
The new crop of early 20’s models makes me long for 80’s-90’s supermodels. I just want the Hadids, Baldwins, Jenners and the Delevingnes to get off my lawn.

  12. Henny In My Hand says:

I wish people would stop asking her this. Whether she did anything or not, she looks absolutely fantastic, and it’s her business. I personally think she’s gorgeous, and seems sweet/harmless.

    • Red says:

People keep asking her about it because she’s a model. Her face/body is her selling point. It’s not like she’s an accountant. I don’t think people would care if she just admitted the obvious work she has had done. She has millions of followers, mostly young girls, and it’s incredibly harmful to lie and say that everything is au natural when it’s not. She has clearly had more than a nose job and lip fillers. She looks sooo different than she did a few years ago, and that is not just from getting older. Just admit you had massive work done and move on. No one cares that she did, we just care that she is blatantly lying.

      • ka says:

I tend to agree: how harmless is it when young women and girls hate themselves that they weren’t born as beautiful as Bella is “naturally”? Isn’t it harmful that they can’t see the beauty in her original more “ethnic” nose and less cupid-y top lip but can see it with their newly retrousse and poutier replacements?

Plus, it is troubling that she had to go through hours of painful, expensive and invasive surgery just to get her career. That’s not a great thing, tbh, and it puts beauty up there as *the* most important thing in the world because, if it wasn’t, Bella wouldn’t have gone through these surgeries to look “absolutely fantastic” and be fawned over in photographs. She would, instead, have got herself another career or done something else with her life, even if that something else was just buying racehorses and couture as a wealthy socialite heiress. However great she looks (and she does look good, even if her surgeon was a bit overzealous with her nose) it’s not a harmless precedent or message.

She doesn’t have to be responsible for these answers or be a spokesperson or anything like that (although coyly fudging answers like she did is a little disingenuous), but it is an interesting/worrying topic to think about generally.

  13. Rachel in August says:

Eye-lift, chin work, nose job, buccal fat removal … another one who’s full of it, lol.

    • bella says:

Yeah, the nose job, buccal removal, and lip fillers are obvious. The eyebrows are definitely different, but was it an eye lift or some crazy Botox? They can do all kinds of stuff with Botox. Either way, the girl is a liar!

  14. Panda says:

She’s on record saying she had a nose job, with no bs medical excuse so… I’m guessing she’s responding her to the “whole new face” accusations. She right, different nose, same face with time thrown in. She is one of the few I wished had kept her middle eastern nose… it’s a travesty cause I think she’d look stunning now. Reminds me of an Iranian director who had to get an actress from the diaspora did his film cause everyone had gotten a nose job. Full disclosure: I love big noses!

    • Danielle says:

I’ve never heard her go on record with the nose job. Maybe it would be better if she did. Then she would have more credibility when denying other work done. Cause the nose job is obvious.

    • lol says:

She never said that… I like her nose.

  15. K-Peace says:

“When I was 16…I had grills before it was cool.”–Give me a break; she was 16 only 5 years ago in 2013, when grills were already passé & a cliche! So ridiculous.

As for denying having had no plastic surgery: Anybody can look at photos of her from just a few years ago at which point she had a COMPLETELY different, much bigger nose. (There was of course nothing wrong with her original nose; she looked just fine before.) Wow, she thinks we are all idiots and I think that’s pretty insulting.

    • Naptime says:

My exact thoughts. Child, sit down. Madonna was wearing grills when you were still in diapers. And that was years AFTER hop hop culture had made them “cool.”

    • K says:

I always forget how young she is. She looks a lot older.

    • whatWHAT? says:

didn’t Flavor Flav have grills back in the Public Enemy days?

like, 10 years BEFORE SHE WAS BORN?!

And, as others have pointed out, it ain’t just her nose that’s different. her upper lip is much fuller than it was when she was young teen, and she either had cheekbone implants or had fat removed from her cheeks.

      • Sigh... says:

She probs knows NOTHING of him or Paul Walls, Nelly, etc

That whole industry was built, bumped, & bastardized before the rest of her baby teeth fell out. 😄

    • bella says:

Yeah, what is that? By 2005, I’m pretty sure grills were already “cool”. I was a young teen back then pretending to be cool with my tin foil grills…

    • Ange says:

I’m pretty sure she meant before it was cool in her waspy, rarefied, rich white people world.

  16. Ellie says:

But, but… you can fix a deviated septum without changing the outward appearance of a nose. And people take such issue with her nose job because it looks like her bridge has collapsed and you can’t unsee it. I agree with the people who think she’s had much more than that done. Google a “before and after” — that can’t all be explained by aging.

    • whatWHAT? says:

yeah, the first time I saw her my first thought was “SHE is a model?!” (not that she’s ugly but she’s nothing special and kind of dead in the eyes) followed by “what a terrible nose job” because of exactly what you say. it looks like her bridge collapsed and, in one photo I saw, the tip looks weirdly bony.

    • Becky says:

Yes! I had a deviated septum fixed when I was a teenager, and people always think I’m saying I had a nose job, even doctors. I’m fine with how I look, but seriously: I do not have anyone’s idea of an “after” nose! It’s fairly large and has a small bump, so I can’t imagine what kind of monster schnozz people think I must have had before!

      • Jan90067(aka imqrious2) says:

I had a deviated septum fixed and I didn’t get a nose job with it. I didn’t even know that was an option (DAMMIT! lol). So, no, you don’t get a whole new nose just because of that.

Years later, when my dad had to have his septum fixed, he was asked if he wanted his bump in his nose smoothed down, and he declined. So again, no, you don’t have to have a nose job with a DS surgery.

  17. Samab says:

Of course nothing wrong but nothing model material either.IF we want to believe that’s the only thing. But we should be blind.

  18. Courtney says:

typical young Hollywood liar why pay attention to these no talent girls

  19. Bsb says:

This is so funny. Why does she constantly deny it when there are pictures of her old face??? She looks completely different.

  20. endoplasmic_ridiculum says:

“Not about how you look, but how competitive you are.”

Phew. Competitive is so much better!

  21. Samigirl says:

I had a septoplasty done in 2014. My septum was over 90% deviated. Regardless, I had a cute, pert nose. I voiced my concerns about my nose shape changing due to surgery and he said nowadays, a septoplasty alone will not change nose shape. So even that argument is bunk. If you want to change your face, do it and own it. I respect you much more for that then those who act like their changing looks are just natural.

  22. Veronica S. says:

I mean, I get the frustration of getting asked about your looks all the time, but she’s A MODEL. It’s literally her job to look good! It’s not like we’re going to be asking her about nuclear physics.

And girl, COME ON, we can look at pictures at you from five years ago and see the radical differences in your face. There’s nothing wrong with that. Most of us, if we had that kind of money, would probably have found something to tweak, too. Plastic surgery is a non-controversy at this point.

  23. JennyJazzhands says:

Correction: You had grills before white people thought they were cool. They’ve been worn and cool since before you were born.

  24. minx says:

    “Darling” this.

  25. Tess says:

SURE JAN! Or maybe I should say Sure Kim!

  26. Shannon says:

I don’t doubt that she’s had a nose job – unless your nose is just naturally “perfect” I think that’s practically a right of passage for rich, young girls. But honestly (and I don’t have an eye for plastic surgery) she doesn’t look all that ‘done’ to me. If I passed by her on the street, I a) wouldn’t know who she was because to me she doesn’t really have a very distinct look and b) wouldn’t think “OMG that bitch looks like catwoman!” I’d probably just thing, ‘Wow, that’s a tall young woman.’

  27. Jordan says:

I like her and the surgery she’s had is fine. Her face still looks like her face which is less than what we can say about Kylie.

    • Jenna says:

I agree! Out of all the current famous models, I find Bella so gorgeous (and she was pretty before surgery too!) Most of all, she doesn’t seem as fake and empty as some other current celebs (ahem, Kylie).

  28. Adrien says:

Reminds me of the time Chinese popstar Angelababy had a doctor publicly examine her face, presented a CT scan result to prove she is all natural and that her face change was a result of wearing dental braces in her youth and that her 1/4 Caucasian DNA has finally emerged.

    • Sigh... says:

      ((snort))

No, I literally snorted. That’s funny, cuz that’s EXACTLY how genes, braces, and Japanese potatoes (might as well throw that in there) work, according to *some.* 😏

  29. lobbit says:

Just say no comment, man. You don’t have to explain or justify your body or your beauty to anyone, but there are images of your original face all over the internet. It’s so stupid to lie about it–and given the impressionability of your young fans, it’s irresponsible, too.

  30. gobo says:

Minimum work done: Nose job, jaw shaved down and eyes look like they were probably lifted to. I’m all for the wonders of make up but she has clearly undergone major structural alterations to her face.

  31. Happy21 says:

I am SO sick of these reality/insta stars lying about what they do to their bodies like we all are a bunch of effing idiots. It is really, really insulting.

    • Harryg says:

It really is. And then they whine and wonder why they are “hated and bullied.”

    • Moonpie says:

Just imagine how they would look like if they ever managed a classy response with a twinkle in the eye: “My career changes and life changes and so does my body”. If you hold up their actual answers against such a simplistic statement you get an idea how pathetic these people are and how much the media does improve the perception we have of them.

  32. emma peel says:

She’s basically a younger Jocelyn Wildenstein – I call BS on her plastic surgery denial.

  33. Elisa says:

hahahaha, good luck with having all the photo proof of your plastic surgery removed from the internet!
I don’t get why she doesn’t own it – she looks great! Maybe because her sister is a natural beauty??

    • whatWHAT? says:

“I don’t get why she doesn’t own it – she looks great! Maybe because her sister is a natural beauty??”

I think that’s EXACTLY why. her sis is naturally pretty. she was NOT ugly before her surgeries, but she was not as pretty as her sister. she doesn’t want to admit that, in order for her to be “model pretty” TOO, she had to have mom and dad’s money pay for it.

      • Moonpie says:

Allow me to continue that story:

Bella was moderately pretty and she needed her parents’ money to become model pretty and to get into a modeling career. So where exactly are her own merits? I bet without her parents she would just be one pretty girl as there are so many? Is there anything about her which makes her stand out but isn’t a result of her parent’s money?

  34. Rebecca says:

Nose job, upper lip lift and jaw shave.

  35. effeff says:

She has no choice but to lie. Her face is only a commodity if it is vaguely unattainable to other women. Advertisers need to convince us their product is going to make us look like Bella. If she just came out and admitted we could all go buy her face at the surgeon, she wouldn’t get any more work.

  36. Ash says:

Whatever she did, can I get the same thing? Lol. I actually think she was just as pretty before. At least whatever tweaks she did look natural. Bella and Gigi are both stunning. They’re the only nepotism models I actually find interesting to look at.

  37. Naddie says:

It’s so funny how these models never talked about looks until an agency comes and tell them to. They all were a bunch of tomboys, or girls who were all about sports/nature/books, no make up, no mirrors. Plus, the “I had small waist and wide hips…” Are you f#%@ serious? First, this is the standard. Second, chubby people don’t have “small waist”, that’s one of the carachteristics of being chubby. And I won’t even start about surgery cause everyone here nailed on it perfectly.

  38. Jules says:

She’s such a liar. Her entire face has been surgically and/or cosmetically altered with fillers. She’s had a least 1 nose job. Why not just be honest about it?!

    • Moonpie says:

      Exactly.
Alternatively one can do a Madonna: “I don’t have a problem with cosmetic surgery. But I do have a problem talking about it.”
Good one. Not being dishonest. Not admitting anything. Kind of fair and funny in a slightly sarcastic way.

  39. Laura says:

Her nose job is not good. Other surgeries are.

  40. raincoaster says:

Yes, she competed in riding, and there are photos of her at horse shows competing, wearing a full face of makeup.

  41. Mimi says:

Oh darlin’, we’ve all seen your original face. Scan that.

And she’s had more than one rhinoplasty. My guess she’s on her second nose job.

  42. Moonpie says:

    You gotta be kidding me.
that is what I don’t like about bella: not really honest. And I don’t buy that the didn’t know about makeup before. She is the daughter of a socialite and model and she is rich: money buys help and advice and professional.

  43. Lisa Giametti says:

Ummmm, Grillz were popular with rap artists YEARS before this girl was 16. Ombre and bi-color hair were around as well. I guess, in her young mind, she believes her lies.

She has definitely had a nose job. So have I. I am not ashamed to admit it either. Not sure why a nose job is so taboo to acknowledge.

  44. Jenna says:

If you google almost every famous actress, model or singers name plus the words plastic surgery, it may shock you to learn almost ALL of them have had nose jobs, and other subtle work. And none of them talk about it, either. This is unbelievably common for celebs. At least Bella’s work was tasteful, and suits her well. I think she looks incredible, and seems to have a cute personality too.

  45. Patty says:

This bitch. LMAO. The fact that she is denying the obvious makes it worse. Just own it. Or maybe, just maybe, she doesn’t know she got plastic surgery….maybe she just woke up like that one day and doesn’t know what happened.
