I can’t wait to see Eighth Grade. The trailer was so lovely and reviews are amazing.

  2. Astrid says:

    I didn’t want to see either movie…

    • SympathyRage says:

Meryl Streep sings like crap. Listening to those people butcher ABBA songs was such a bummer. Movie was great, though.

  3. Kiki says:

I will say this Meryl Streep and Denzel Washington are legends in their acting field along with Tom Hanks, Helen Mirren and countless others. They deserve better

  4. Angie says:

Well to be fair the Mamma Mia 2 looks so so so awful and I can’t imagine anyone wanting to see it .

  5. JFerber says:

Denzel hasn’t aged well. He should keep on top of his looks, just as women in the biz feel forced to do. But no matter what, he’ll still get roles. And women over forty, now matter how amazing they look (Oscar winners, too) will still be scrambling. What a world.

    • eto says:

Maybe he still gets roles bc he’s freaking Denzel??

      • Veronica S. says:

Her point is that successful men don’t have to worry about age and appearance impacting their later career, in contrast to women who struggle to find career opportunities past 40ish, if not younger, regardless of their talent. It has nothing to do with Denzel’s talent so much as observing the double standard.

      • eto says:

I understand her point, I just don’t know that it applies here – Denzel is anything but mediocre, he should be getting just as many parts (and Oscars) as Meryl Streep but his career HAS slowed with age. But old white men like Liam Neeson get to pump out terrible films one after the other, with no end in sight.

      • Masamf says:

Exactly @Eto. Denzel is a POC and Meryl being a woman shouldn’t compare, she is still a white woman regardless of her age. Meryl would be the first to admit that if 2 people (Meryl and Denzel) were stood side by side auditioning for a role, she would get it before Denzel was considered. And yes, Meryl would be cast as a man before Denzel was cast in a man’s role.

    • Mrs.Krabapple says:

I think he looks great. He’s 64 years old, yet he looks better than any other actor his age, or even much younger. And he’s talented too. And has natural charisma.

I agree there is a terrible double-standard in Hollywood, but I don’t think we should demand male actors get plastic surgery and botox and ruin their faces the way female actors feel compelled to do; rather, I think female actors should be allowed to age naturally like male actors. BOTH should not feel compelled to butcher their faces.

Btw, there are digital filters that Hollywood uses on actors to make their skin smoother and younger, and their bodies more toned. Just look at candid photos of actors versus “photos” of those same people as they appear in the movie (for example, see actual photos of Tom Cruise during filming, versus how his character appears in a movie with the filter in use). With this type of technology, Hollywood doesn’t need plastic surgery.

    • chinoiserie says:

I don’t know what you are talking about, he looks great for his age. Which actresses of his age look better in comparison? I think the ones full of plastic surgery do not look good if that is your standard.

    • AmunetMaat says:

Yea, can’t co sign that idea. Denzel looks amazing. He basically looks good for his age. He is also highly talented. His 1st sequel deserved to be top.

    • Betsy says:

I agree with you. He’s begun a peculiar slide into looking very feminine.

  6. Slowsnow says:

Could not care less about either movie but Mamma Mia deserves a special place in hell for almost ruining my beloved Abba songs.

  7. meh says:

Is it just me or does no one seem to care about Real Housewives of the Potomac?…
Its you. This season is FIRE.

    • kkpaso says:

I agree. I have never really watched the other RH shows, but i really like RHoTP. Some of these women are very smart and funny, and they make me laugh out loud in surprise at their cleverness at times.

    • AmunetMaat says:

Omg this season has been fun and entertaining. Like they have no chill.

    • DesertReal says:

This season is definitely the best one they’ve had yet.
Oh my goodness- Ashley’s quips and confessionals are HILARIOUS!

  8. Bubble bee says:

I love Denzel he’s one of my favorite actors and I can’t wait to see the equalizer next week

  9. Snazzy says:

No Purge TV show please. Those movies are terrible, and slightly traumatizing

  10. JRenee says:

Didn’t the Sony leaked info say Denzel didn’t have opening power anymore? I missed him this weekend, but I’ll have to see him to support the senior citizen opening at number 1!

    • WTD says:

No, they basically said no black actor opens well in foreign markets because the rest of the world is racist (not us tho *eyeroll*)

  11. Bc says:

I will always watch a Denzel movie. My first movie crush. And he paid fees for my new bae, ChadBose the Black Panther. Love him.

  12. Flying fish says:

    I am happy for Denzel.

  13. Eribra says:

Back when I was a babysitting teenager, I used to watch the equalizer on TV and scare the daylights out of myself- responsible for kids who were sleeping, creepy synthesizer music. Loved that show and the original guy was not a young man. Saw the first w/ Denzel and it was good. Will probably see the second too

  14. Me says:

Love Denzel, love Meryl, but I will surely see Denzel first, he’s been in so many great films lately and he looks so good for his age.
