Chrissy Teigen & John Legend made each other cry at the Glamour WOTY awards

Chrissy Teigen was one of the honorees at Glamour’s Women of the Year Awards. She was fortunate enough to be given the award by her husband, John Legend. Fortunate not just because it would be amazing to receive an award from John but because he gave a lovely speech that honored her, “full awesomeness.” While remembering a night at the Time 100 awards when Chrissy said she didn’t feel like she belonged among the other honorees, John got choked up telling Chrissy that Glamour and Time and everyone else obviously knows she does. It’s sweet. You can read the speech here but here’s a clip:

I guess it was contagious because the usually caustic Chrissy also got emotional when speaking about how much John means to her.

The 32-year-old model is known for poking fun at her husband, John Legend, from time to time, but on Monday night at the 2018 Glamour Women Of The Year Awards: Women Rise in New York City, the mother of two got extremely choked up after the 39-year-old R&B artist presented her with the Woman of the Year award.

“I joke about it a lot, but I truly have the most incredible husband on the planet,” Teigen said, looking visibly emotional. “You are our everything.”

he went on to reflect on her five years of marriage to the “All of Me” singer, saying, “You completely made me a woman. We’ve grown together. Our family’s grown together. Our careers have grown together.”

True to form, however, Teigen wiped her tears away, adding, “This is so sappy. I’m sorry. I hate it. I didn’t cry during our wedding. I hate you, John, I really do.”

Prior to accepting the award, Teigen spoke to ET on the red carpet, saying, “Really it is an honor, and I see John accept these things all the time. You know, he has a whole shelf full of them, so now I have one too, so I’m very excited.”

Chrissy claimed she, “was ready to be the light-hearted one,” and begged Glamour, “Please don’t show that I cry or have emotions!” I believe both comments. Not that I think she actually does not have emotions but she does not like to show them in public and uses her ‘light-hearted’ mannerisms to mask them. No judgement in that comment, by the way, that’s how I handle myself publicly as well. But that’s why I also find Chrissy’s inability to hide her emotions about John even sweeter. I wish she just went with it, but I get why she deflected. I know Chrissy and John can be very in-your-face with their relationship but moments like this are still nice to witness. Maybe I’m just sleep deprived today but I have no shade for these two… except, maybe, for Chrissy’s dress. That needs to crawl back into the ’80s where it came from – and take the earrings with it.

Here’s the clip of Chrissy tearing up:

That was sweet. I’ve always loved John, and since I love John, I have come to love Chrissy, too. She is pretty out there with her realness, yeah. And I share with her the need to be funny too often, especially when I’m near tears. Good on both of them and their beautiful little family.

They seem to suit each other.

I don’t mind Chrissy’s dress, but for her not to go body conscious, she either feels like she still has pregnancy weight (I don’t see it) or maybe she’s pregnant again (which would be sweet).

  3. SM says:

Gwen and Blake better pull their shit together before we start thinking there is another celebrity couple more in love than them.

  4. Snowflake says:

So adorable to see two people so much in love. They’re little kids are so cute to Luna’s adorable

  5. Esmom says:

Aw, so sweet. I didn’t really follow her until I joined twitter and she’s really grown on me. They both seem like good people and their kids are adorable.

I don’t mind the dress either, it works on her.

  6. M says:

She is funny, but has in the past posted nasty comments about Avril Lavigne. Can’t seem to get past that.

  7. Original T.C. says:

I hate crying in public and would have brought in some sarcasm too to stop the tears.

Absolutely – And the “I hate you. I really do,” comment is really cute and sweet to me. It’s the same way my BFF and I say “I love you”. As she and I discussed years ago, you have to love someone an awful lot to be as vile and insulting to them as we are to each other 🙂

Neither of us are so good with the expressing feelings… lol

This was so sweet, I’m tearing up! You can tell how much he genuinely loves her, and SEES her. You know what I mean? That sounds so lame, but truly being seen in relationships is so important.

What did she do to her face?? Her lips look so off. They annoy me almost as much as Pete and Ariana did. Thank you, next!
