KLG leaving is horrible only part of the Today show I still watched after that perv matt took brian G job (yeah I said it..yeah I hold a grudge)

First Man and Widows seem to be out of the game for now. They were supposed to be “intelligent” money makers but both flopped. I love Oscar season for this reason. Assumed winners sometimes fail to even get nominated. Oscars don’t mean shit but for someone who works in the industry, it is stupid fun.

“Widows” has already made it’s money back from pre-post production…it is NOT a flop..plus I don’t think the movie studio even positioned “Widows” to be an Oscarbaiter…I think it was positioned to be a damn good movie with an excellent Director and cast….shot on a small budget…….It’s in the Oscar conversation because it deserves to be….Personally, it’s reminding me of McQueen’s “Shame” regarding the Oscar talk….and I’m here for it! Because that means more folks will see it that probably didn’t even have it on their landscape…

First man was a slog to get through. Widows had a great cast but the story was off. This movie was a word of mouth movie. If word of mouth was good, it would have performed better.

Beyoncé carries herself like she’s above so many things. Apparently for the right amount of cash she’s not above being a wedding singer lol

Cheryl Cole looks better than the little-girl outfit JLo wore!

  5. Lilly (with the double-L) says:

I haven’t seen First Man, but Widows is amazing. I guess we’ll see when the nominations come out, but I also wonder how much clout remains with the Oscars. I know I haven’t paid much attention the last several years, since they’re not very relevant to changing times.

  6. Parigo says:

Poor Ryan, he’ll still have a hundred other chances to win an Oscar.

Guess Tidal ain’t doing so well

    First man is out
My honest guess is all the noise- the beeping etc
Is too much for some of those old academy voters
    With hearing aids
    I’m being serious
I’m not old I’m middle aged
And loud sounds that including banging and beeping are deeply unpleasant if not torture for me

    • Antonym says:

I wear hearing aids (I’m not “old”, at least not imo). My issue with first man wasn’t noises or beeping. My issue was that it was a good bit longer than it needed to be. It certainly wasn’t a bad movie, but it should have been tighter.

I don’t really get the Oscars race this year. There are no clear frontrunners, are there? Seems like a lot of expected nominees are turning out to be flops.

  10. Mandy says:

Ryan makes his work seem effortless and never seems to be interested in campaigning. i doubt he will get a nom, should have won for half nelson. Absolutely brilliant in it

Just here to say that claret color suit on Ryan Gosling is fab. Love the shirt. Love his blank stare LOL! Also I’m a Dakota Johnson stan, I admit it and I’ve never even watched any of her movies. I just think she’s so beautiful and wears interesting fashions. I don’t love this minty blue gown, it’s kind of weird but it is interesting. The longer I looked st it the more I liked it. I give her props for usually rocking something a little unexpected.

I mean, I still can’t get my head around the fact that Lala landed so many awards. It was a movie about jazz with white leads…. also Gosling is no Dicaprio, he is not someone who sill be advocating that acting is ultimate existential struggle, he has a life and what looks like a healthy perspective which does not exactly make the best campaign in bussiness of self involved people. Probably his chances are even slimer when he made that face when the envelope drama unfolded when Lala did not win the best picture. He said he laughed at the fact that everyone reacted and acted if something terrible happened, like someone died, but it turned out they just confused the envelopes.
