David Arquette has long been involved in charities that help find solutions for hunger in America. He’s currently spending time in a plexiglass box above the Madison Square Garden ticket office to raise money and awareness of the issue. He said on The Today Show yesterday that it’s not an endurance test, and it’s just something he’s doing to help bring attention and raise money to combat hunger. He’s not pulling a David Blaine and will eat, go to the bathroom, and rest at another location, and is just in the hot box during the day on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Arquette explained that one in eight Americans don’t know where their next meal is coming from. He is working with Feeding America along with a partnership with Snickers.

The “Scream” star took up residence on the Madison Square Garden marquee Tuesday to launch a campaign to feed America.

“It’s not an endurance challenge, and I’m not David Blaine, but what I’m doing is raising awareness about hunger in America,” Arquette said, sitting in the specially constructed plastic box hoisted on top of a 25-foot-high roof facing Seventh Ave.

“It’s not a homeless thing, these are working Americans that don’t have enough food to eat.”

As passersby snapped photos of the actor, who is married to Courtney Cox, Arquette occasionally left his box and used a megaphone to encourage the crowds to part with their cash.

He hopes to raise $250,000 by spending several hours in the see-through room Tuesday and Wednesday.

“The idea is to come to New York, the epicenter of American corporations and companies and people and tourists,” he said.

“It’s just an iconic place to do something that will hopefully put a blip on the map about hunger here.”

Arquette is chairman of Feeding America’s Entertainment Council, and the “Bar Hunger” campaign is being launched by Snickers.

Arquette came across as committed and humble about his charity work and you can tell that it’s something he truly cares about and that he wants to help make a difference. He has dedicated his time at his local food bank and is now putting himself out there for the cause. Good for him!

Snickers will donate $1 for everyone who joins their Facebook cause at Facebook.com/snickers, and you can also help at Feeding America and Clothes Off Our Back

In related news, Arquette has confirmed that he’ll be working on a fourth Scream movie with his wife, Courtney Cox. He said “We are going to be doing Scream 4. Kevin Williamson is writing the script at this moment, and hopefully Wes Craven is going to direct. I fell in love with my wife on Scream, so the opportunity to bring (Dewey) back to life and for my wife to play that really bitchy character again, it’s just going to be really fun.” The last Scream movie, Scream 3, was out in 2000.

Great another Millionaire wanting my money when I live “pay check to pay check”!

If these celebrities really care so much they would be buying their clothes off the clearance rack, buying their own food instead of having Chefs and eating out everyday, drive a hybrid, no personal trainers, no mansions, no weekly facials, no plastic surgery, etc.

Celebrities are totally clueless and ignorant. The average American is suffering and they want us to give money we don’t have!
