OK!: MJ’s kids want to live with Janet Jackson

I think most of us are a little tired with the epic coverage of everything vaguely related to Michael Jackson. The weird thing is that I don’t think I’m alone in believing many of the most scandalous stories, especially if it’s about Debbie Rowe, Joe Jackson, or the money. Since Michael died, and especially since last week’s memorial service attended by MJ’s kids, I have been thinking too much about what is going to happen to those poor children. I find myself saying quick little prayers for Prince, Paris and Blanket whenever I’m reading about the latest hourly scandal. Since Michael died, I’ve written several times about my hope that Janet Jackson is the one to step up and really fight for the kids’ best interests, and fight for custody.

Someone at OK! might have been listening, because this week’s cover story is tailor-made for me. OK! claims that Prince, Paris and Blanket all really want to live with Janet. I guess the assumption is that the kids never spent that much time with Aunt Janet before now, but they’ve grown very connected and “bonded” in the past few weeks. OK! points out that Katherine Jackson (the temporary caregiver, and MJ’s choice for custody) is 79 years old, and that caring for three young children would most likely leave her exhausted after a short time. Team Janet:

While Michael Jackson’s mom, Katherine Jackson continues to fend off Debbie Rowe over the issue of custody for the late King of Pop’s kids, it’s Michael’s sister Janet Jackson who has emerged in the eyes of many as the favored caregiver for the three children. And, sources tell OK!, that appears to be just what Prince, Paris and Blanket want most.

“All three want Janet to read to them at night,” a Jackson family friend says. “They just melt into her arms when she walks into the house.”

The feeling is mutual, adds the insider.

“Janet has completely bonded with those children in the last two weeks,” the friend continues. “She has been their rock. It’s clear to everyone that they are looking to her for comfort and guidance.”

Michael’s will names his mother, Katherine as the children’s guardian, but Debbie, the biological mother of the eldest kids, has expressed interest in raising them. All three currently live at Katherine’s Encino, Calif. home.

“[They] are doing great. Mom and Janet are taking care of them,” Michael’s brother Jackie tells OK!.

One concern raised is that at 79, caring for three kids might be too much for Katherine, a problem eased by Janet’s presence.

“Janet is not only willing to raise those children, she is also the only relative who knows how to protect them,” the insider tells OK!. “Janet knows the value of a private life and knows how to keep her personal life out of the news. She is determined to do that for Michael’s children. She is saying that he would want no less for them, pointing out how far he went to shelter them.”

[From OK! Magazine]

That last paragraph is why I’ve always thought Janet should get custody – it’s not that Janet isn’t as screwed up as the other Jacksons, it’s just that she seems the most well-adjusted to the insanity. And she is intensely private – people didn’t know she was married for years until she got a divorce. Janet would totally be capable – financially, emotionally, structurally – of taking care of those kids and keeping them away from prying eyes. Even though I’m not sure if this is true, I’m really hoping it is.

WHATEVER!! those kids will need mental help soon enough. the entire family is in need of a sit down and listen talk. janet is the least messed up of the clan so she seems like the best fit. what a complete mess.

  2. Jules says:

I agree with you ms, Janet could probably give them a “normal” life. I hate to think of all the things these children have seen and been through and what they will continue to go through. The first I thing I thought of when I heard MJ died was “What will happen to his kids?” Didn’t really care about him.
On another note, who is dying these kids hair? Is that really necessary?

  3. ms truth says:

jules i asked the same thing.. why do the kids hair look dyed? omg that is a shame. the only color in kids hair needs to the one God put in.

  4. jeannified says:

Hmmm…I wonder…she seems to be the most likely candidate. I wonder what will happen!

  5. danielle says:

Janet also doesn’t need to get ahold of the kids’ money.

  6. Kikker says:

yes! this is the best idea by far.

  7. Jules says:

I think someone wants them to all look the same. 😉

  8. mel says:

I hope this is true but who are all of these friends and why are they talking…. I dont trust this until it comes out in the trial. I cant wait til Monday.

  9. dewdrop says:

Love Blanket!!!! He is so adorable.

  10. Zoe says:

Another tabloid article being printed up as if it has credibility. That said, I don’t know why everyone keeps going on and on about how much more normal they will be if raised by Janet. Janet has always stood by her family as has mentioned if her family is considered eccentric so is she. She’s part of the family and has just as close a chance at being normal as any of them do growing up in the spotlight. What is all of this emphasis on ‘normal’ anyway? The Jacksons lives are NOT normal. To expect them to go through their unique life experiences and be just like everyone else in every way is rediculous. They do the best they can under the circumstances, and having met several of them I can say they are quite down-to-earth given what they have accomplished and are as ‘normal’ as can be expected, not that there is even such a thing as normal as it’s relative. Their lives are normal for them. Enough with the rumors and judgment on everything this family says or does, it’s so over-the-top.

I know he was conceived with a donor but Blanket actually looks like he could have been Michael’s son. Poor kid — he looks so sad and lost. Those kids really seem to have a special bond with each other.

  12. raven says:

the boys look like MJ, look at their black eyes. the girl looks like debbie, she’s got her eyes. their skin will get darker and darker…

  13. Orangejulius says:

Are you kidding? The two older kids are completely white.

  14. lrm says:

where were the kids when MJ died, btw?
I have not heard this question posed or answered anyway…
were they in that hollywood hills area house? and did they seem him taken in the amublance? I’m so confused…
Esp. since the nanny has not been with them for several months.
who was? and the home not being as huge as,say, neverland, they would’ve known something was going down with the ambulance, etc. Anyone?

  15. gee_gee says:

I have wanted to live with Janet Jackson for years!

  16. gg says:

Oh dear, nobody is dying the kids’ hair.

The oldest one’s hair was bleached when he was very small but the others look completely natural. Looks like brown hair that’s swum in some pools and hung outside in the summertime, like all kids.

  17. j. ferber says:

I think if the kids’ hair is dyed, it’s to make them look more bi-racial (which I understand they are not). The same could be said for their recent darker skin (spray on tans?). Another question is, what kind of a father could Michael have been for them if he was always searching for drugs/stoned (or under anesthesia) for most of the time? Lastly, is it just me, or do others believe Paris’ “spontaneous, heartfelt” words at the memorial were scripted?

  18. Miffy says:

And Janet doesn’t have children of her own, so maybe this was all meant to be.

  19. morgs says:

uh, I thought Janet already had a child that was given to Rebbie to raise?

  20. pleasestop says:

WTF! people are still talking about a child that Janet NEVER had! leave both her and her family alone! and fyi she would make a great parent to those children:)

  21. Giz says:

Anybody that loves them and will take care of them. I agree that Janet would be a far better choice than the grandmother (Joe), Debbie, Diana and OMG LaToya! I’m surprised MJ hadn’t mentioned her. She’s young enough and as someone else mentioned, won’t exploit them for the money.

  22. Hannelina says:

In Michael’s will he did not specify Janet. He specified Katherine Jackson and if she isn’t able, he specified Diana Ross.

  23. CeeJay says:

gg: My thoughts exactly. So glad the bleach bottles have been banished. Michael always wanted that blond haired blue eyed child and that was his way of fulfilling the dream. I was always amazed to see the one and two year old boys with bleached blond hair and dark black roots. God, they are all beautiful children though aren’t they?

  24. Orangejulius says:

Yeah, they are all beautiful. But, how do you take into account that he wasn’t exactly in his right mind when he was deciding who would take care of the kids?

  25. honey plz says:

These kids are adorable! May God bless them and keep them strong through their pain and sorrow! Janet, please take care of them and continue to give them the best that life and love has to offer!!!!

  26. jayem says:

Wow. Now that we can finally see they’re faces, I realize how cute they are. They youngest one is just adorable. They do seem really close though, so I think they’ll be okay as long as they have each other.

  27. Ursula says:

Awww, Blanket melts my hard heart. He seems so lost and confused. He does look like the Jacksons. I think Rebbie should raise them. La Toya did say that Michael wanted her to.

  28. ogechi says:

these kids look their father…Janet is a good pick

  29. Jules says:

gg- Please explain how 3 children with different parents or even the same parents could possibly have the exact same hair color? And I mean exact. It is dyed, not that it makes a bit of difference in their poor little lives. It’s just sad.

  30. beatrice says:

I just want to see MJ’s 3 kids have a good life like they were with their Dad. MJ didn’t dye his kids’ hair, why now?
Janet will be a lucky woman to receive this kind of love from her niece and nephews I hope she will be their mother figure, and I hope the court will not split these 3 kids away from each others if Debbie will win the battle.
