Prince William cooked spaghetti bolognese at a homeless shelter today

Prince William

I’ve seen some people complaining about how Prince Harry and Prince William haven’t been criticized even half as much as their wives regarding work schedules and the amount of events being undertaken. For what it’s worth, it’s more than possible that Harry and William are doing a lot more, but their appearances and meetings (private and public) aren’t being discussed or analyzed that much because… dudes are pretty boring. Duchesses are always going to be more exciting to gossip-readers and fashion-watchers. All of that to say, Prince William got off his lazy butt today and did some work.

Kensington Palace started the day by announcing that William had taken on a new patronage: he is now the patron of The Passage, “which is the UK’s largest resource centre for homeless and insecurely housed people. Established in 1980, The Passage has since helped over 130,000 people in crisis through its resource centre, homelessness prevention projects and two innovative accommodation services.” William first visited The Passage in 1993 with his mother. William has long credited Diana with exposing him to the realities of homelessness when he was a very young child. It’s a pretty consistent thing in his life

After the announcement, William paid a visit to The Passage shelter and he made spaghetti bolognese with some volunteers, then he served it to people. Judging from the photos of William in the kitchen… he’s not totally helpless as a cook, but you can tell that he doesn’t completely know what he’s doing.

Kudos Malcolm on your 21 years of volunteer work.

    That is pretty awesome.

  2. Cidy says:

You know what? Nothing negative to say. good on him for doing this. Hopefully we see more of it.

  3. Clare says:

Taking a page right out of Meghan’s (cook)book eh?

*Sorry, had to go there lol*

    • VeryVeryTerryJerry says:

      And that’s a good thing!

    • Princessk says:

Apparently some one asked if he would do a cookbook and he said no that all his recipes would be rubbish and likes unhealthy food like burgers and chips. Does anyone think that this was a dig at Meghan and her healthy lifestyle.

    Finally Worker Will. Thanks Meg❤️

  5. Becks1 says:

William has been steadily increasing his numbers over the past few years. Anne and Charles still lap him ha but he has picked up his numbers, so someone must have gotten through to him that he has to work (or he just realized it on his own).

It’s nice to see him being involved with a charity that he has know for decades. Like someone said above – I’m not going to criticize.

  6. brutalethyl says:

Look at Wills getting a “taste” of how the other 99% live. Spicing up the meal with a little derision and disdain for the homeless.

Maybe he can take some of his spaghetti home to Kate and the kids. haha

  7. Astrid says:

Can’t say I’ve made bolognese recently but the pictures make it seem likes there’s boatload of carrots?

    • sequinedheart says:

My thoughts too Astrid. I stared at that pile of carrots for a moment. I do use carrots in my home-made spag-bol but that pile seemed excessive!

ps. good for Willy working. I have nothing negative to say about this – this is truly a charity I believe he cares about.

    • Caity says:

Bolognese sauce typically has diced carrots, as well as onions and celery, and I’m assuming they are making large volumes of it to feed as many people as possible.

  8. Fluffy Princess says:

    Good on Will!

And, I can see the Meghan effect here too.

  9. Red Snapper says:

Strange that he holds the knife in his right hand, when he writes with his left.

  10. Deedee says:

But what was he wearing? Was that sweater a repeat? How much did it cost? What shoes did he choose to pair with his outfit?

  11. PhillyGal says:

So it appears Meghan is having a positive impact, in getting the lazier royals to step up to the plate. Good on her!

    • V says:

He has been improving his numbers “visibly” for more than a year and it looks like he has dealt with this charitem way before Meghan came on the scene. Let’s not overestimate this alleged “impact”.. on her own husband too.

  12. mint says:

But it does not matter, if the mens work is not as covered as the Duchesses work. At the end of the year they publish the numbers- and for men in their 30s who are fully capable of working fulltime, who obviously are not pregnant and dont need to cut back, their numbers are effin low. Their father, aunt and 90 something grandmother are working more. They are both lazy and should step up their game. Period.

But good for Will for getting out there.

  13. wha1ever says:

He’s actually very chatty and relaxed in the first KP twitter vid which is nice to see.

  14. Helen says:

he doesn’t know how to properly hold that cutting knife. then again, nigella lawson doesn’t either.

the royals should give up at least one of their palaces to house the homeless. buckingham palace as a homeless shelter, that’d justify the hundreds of millions in renovations, at least!
