Did Michael Jackson’s friend Mark Lester claim he’s Paris’ dad?

Over the weekend, News of the World published a supposed interview with Michael Jackson’s friend, former Oliver! child star Mark Lester. Lester admitted to donating sperm to Jackson in 1996 and supposedly said that he suspects that Paris Jackson, 11, is his biological daughter. News of the World is not known for their accuracy and was caught fabricating an interview with Paris’ mother, Debbie Rowe, shortly after Michael’s death. The claims seemed somewhat possible, though, as Lester is the godfather to all of Michael’s children and Paris and Prince bear a resemblance to him.

Hello! Magazine featured a long interview with Lester in early July, and there were plenty of pictures of Lester and his family with Jackson, including on Christmas. Lester said that Jackson regularly showered gifts his family over their 25 year friendship. Lester was close with Michael’s children, and mentioned speaking to Paris shortly after her father’s death. Lester is 51 and has four children with his first wife: Lucy, 17, Harriet, 15, Olivia, 14, and Felix, 10

According to sources quoted in People Magazine, Lester did give an interview to News of The World in which he admitted donating sperm to Michael, but he didn’t say that he thinks Paris is his daughter. People’s source says that Lester’s words were twisted around to make it a more compelling story:

Longtime Michael Jackson friend Mark Lester is not the father of Jackson’s daughter, nor is he claiming paternity, despite a tabloid report indicating Lester says he’s Paris Jackson’s biological dad, sources tell PEOPLE.

Although Lester could not immediately be reached for comment, sources very close to the Jackson family say that Lester has donated sperm for Jackson and is a longtime friend, but he has never claimed to be the father of Paris Jackson, 11.

“They twisted his words around. He’s not claiming to be the father of Paris Jackson,” says one close family source.

Jackson family attorney Londell McMillan adds that the story is just another unproven and meaningless claim, and the probate court has no reason to go against its finding that the late King of Pop is father to all three of his kids.

“These are just merely claims with no legal standing whatsoever,” McMillan tells PEOPLE.

Sources say Lester, 51, best known for starring in the Oscar-winning classic Oliver!, and Jackson are longtime friends, and Lester did donate sperm for Michael – although one source says the timing doesn’t line up for that sperm to have been used to conceive Paris.

“He has known Michael for many years and his children play with Michael’s children,” says longtime Jackson family associate and past lawyer Brian Oxman. But in all the years he has known Lester, Oxman says Lester never indicated he was Paris’s father.

Jackson made Lester godfather to all three of his kids in Oct. 2003 at a small, private ceremony where all three Jackson children were baptized Catholic with Debbie Rowe’s permission, says longtime Jackson associate Marc Schaffel, who claims to have been among the handful of people present.

Schaffel added that Debbie Rowe has always maintained that Michael is Paris’s father.

Did Lester really say that he thinks Paris is his daughter? He seems to be admitting that he said he donated sperm to Jackson, but claiming he didn’t speculate about the paternity of Paris. Michael’s dermatologist Dr. Arnold Klein is also rumored to be the father of Jackson’s children. Klein was Debbie Rowe’s employer and recently sent an attorney to court during custody hearings to express his concern for the “education, health care and welfare” of Paris and Prince Michael. Klein admitted donating sperm at one point, but said it wasn’t specifically for Michael. It sounds to me like Michael had two of his close friends donate sperm and then never told them if it was used to conceive any of his children.

At least one report claims Jackson used an anonymous donor for his children’s conception, a dentist from Pennsylvania. Those kids know who their dad was, but is their biological dad going to step out of the woodwork and try to have some part in raising them? Klein told Larry King, “If I was the parent, I would spend every moment of the day with the children.” Lester seems curious but unwilling to stake a paternity claim at this point. Hopefully whatever happens it won’t disrupt those poor kids’ lives. They’ve already gone through so much.

Lunatics, one and all. Except for the kids, of course.

If I were betting on the paternity, I’d go with that nutter, Dr. Klein.

    How bizarre.

  3. Nev says:

They do not look alike to me. Sad this guy care about money so much that he disrupts Paris life like this. To bad he didn’t not have the decency to shut the H up and give Paris peace. I guess this guy’s morgage is in default and he is at the brink of financial ruin.
Michael was surrounded by deadbeat vultures. Now the vultures are surrounding his kids.
This jerk should be ashame of himself for throwing his kids picture out like this

  4. gg says:

Did Lester tell anybody (reputable) that he wants money? If not, I would not be so quick to assume he’s only after money. He’s not even given an interview, according to the above.

I do think his daughter looks like Paris – those unusual eyes are exactly the same ice blue color. But then again I thought her ears and head shape look exactly like Klein, so who knows.

  5. Diane says:

The Jackson attorney reminds me of the Howard Stern attorney, “Defend your cause,” because you’re billing depends on it.

I’ve seen pics with Klein, Lester, MJ with kids at holidays. I’ve never seen photos of the Jackson family with the children except at his funeral.

Hopefully, the children will begin to ask and request DNA. They have a right to know.

  6. Enonymous says:

Meh! I seen pictures of him and his daughter and I have to say they do not look very similar with Paris, so I call his claims BS.

  7. Beth says:

It’s unbelieveable what greed does to people. Two months ago nobody cared about the kids. Now everybody wants to claim them, not caring the effect it has on the children.

  8. mel says:

I swear those kids will have issues not because of MJ but because of “Are you my Mommie or Daddy” syndrome.

  9. waldemar says:

The kids will get problems because every male MJ had a connection with one time or another, is coming out the woodworks claiming they have donated sperm and are possibly the father.

  10. Hieronymus Grex says:

He can’t be her father, because I AM !! (since all these guys are jumping on the bandwagon, why not me?)

  11. K says:

In the photos shown above, their noses are identical.

    Good point, Diane.

I ask again — where is it that Lester has given any interview or asked for any money ?? Maybe he just wants to keep in touch with his bio daughter and the tabloids have gotten this and thrust it into the public eye ???

EVERYBODY said this about Debbie Rowe too, and guess what – she didn’t want money – all she wanted was a little visitation! Nothing wrong with wanting to be in your bio kids’ lives and be there for them since their only parent is deceased.

  13. Tazina says:

Why would anyone with a normal intelligence give any credibility to “News of the World?” Good grief.

  14. j. ferber says:

I’d bet anything that Debbie Rowe did get more money, or renewed payments for the money MJ owed her in the past (he had a habit of not paying his bills).

  15. diddy says:

paris doesnt look like him or his daugther because she looks like a carbon copy of debbie rowe with olive skin to T

and laughing at his claim that is it because she has blue eyes.

paris jackson from various pictures and video appears to have light blueish green eyes like joe jackson with black hair.

  16. omondieu says:

There’s a vague resemblance, but juxtapose almost any photos of two people, follow with a statement claiming they’re related, and people will buy it.

  17. RubyKaur says:

Give me a break! She looks nothing like him. They are all going to come out of the woodwork now!

  18. bodil says:

what a mess, poor kids. could someone please remind me why it is that it is suspected that michael jackson did not use his OWN sperm to have his kids? i remember reading somewhere that for the third kid, people do think that his own sperm was used, then why not for the first two? i’m confused, thanks.

  19. hunnybe says:

Just because you donate sperm does not make you a father, but the person who cares for you and comforts you when you are sick, not a person who wants to claim you amid controversy. If he was truly concerned about Paris, this would have been a private discussion.

::“I’ve seen pics with Klein, Lester, MJ with kids at holidays. I’ve never seen photos of the Jackson family with the children except at his funeral.”::

The identities of the Jackson kids were private prior to Michael’s death, so it makes sense we wouldn’t see family pictures. You never see pictures of any of the 30+ Jackson grandchildren with their families either. It doesn’t mean that they weren’t part of their lives all along. Believe it or not, not everything is on TMZ.

::where is it that Lester has given any interview or asked for any money ??::

Well, given that he was a child star over 40 years ago and hasn’t done much since, one can assume that a trip to the spotlight again and any financial gain can’t hurt.

::EVERYBODY said this about Debbie Rowe too, and guess what – she didn’t want money – all she wanted was a little visitation! Nothing wrong with wanting to be in your bio kids’ lives and be there for them since their only parent is deceased.::

Actually, Debbie Rowe is getting money. The Jackson family continues to pay the original agreement she had with MJ. So technically, yeah, she’s still getting hers.

  21. eternalcanadian says:

omg, can’t the family have doctors do a DNA test with Michael’s tissue and put an end once and for all to these idiotic statements about who is whose father!

  22. gg says:

Zoe, the kids identities were kept private so that’s why we now see photos of Klein and Lester and don’t see any with the Jackson brood? That makes no sense.

“where is it that Lester has given any interview or asked for any money ??::

    Makes no sense, either.

Third retort makes no sense either.

Tell me these two girls’ eyes don’t look alike – multiple photos from different times of each girl show the same eyes:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1205288/Is-Mark-Lester-father-Michael-Jacksons-daughter-Paris.html

I’m not saying Lester’s not a famewhore, just that the only scoop is from the damn Daily News, who writes entire “interviews” “for” people. Assuming everybody that has the genes of these kids is surely out for money isn’t really fair when there is no proof, is it?

    just sayin.

This paternity stuff will go on for years. Look how long it took Anna Nicole’s kid to be with her dad.
