Julia Garner’s classmates thought she was lying about being in movies

I know Julia Garner from her role on The Americans, and she’s in so many movies and shows. Julia, 25, was on Late Night with Seth Meyers to promote her role in The Assistant with Matthew Macfadyen, which is at Sundance now. I just saw the trailer and it looks riveting but hard to take. Julia told some good stories about the fact that none of her classmates believed her when she said she had been away filming movies. The production schedule is so long that it took a year for them to realize she was telling the truth.

On people in high school thinking she was lying
In high school everyone thought I was a pathological liar. Movies come out like a year later. [I said] I was going to the Sundance film festival. They’re like ‘you’re lying, you’re not in movies.’ A year later they saw me in a trailer. They finally realized I wasn’t a pathological liar.

You got married last week?
It wasn’t last week, it was like a month ago, but it basically was like yesterday. It’s been crazy.

What were you more excited about, the husband or The Emmy?
Everything. It’s really hard because 2019, when it ended I was like ‘it’s all downhill from here.’

[From Seth Meyers via YouTube]

She is adorable and I thought it was so cute that she didn’t know what to be more excited about, her marriage or her Emmy. She won that for Ozark, which I haven’t seen. A lot of my friends watch it but I couldn’t get into it after the first episode. As for her classmates thinking she was lying, that’s so typical of teenagers. To us a year goes by quickly but to them it’s forever and so much can change in that time. Also they’re skeptical and seem to give each other a hard time a lot. My teenager makes me feel old, he really does.

Oh and Julia married Mark Foster, 35, from Foster the People last month as she mentioned. Here’s their wedding photo. I got married on December 27 too. I’m divorced now, but that was my anniversary.

She’s an excellent actress and I hope we see her only become more famous. I didn’t recognize her with her hair straightened and all the eye makeup up though! She is definitely currently known for playing a physical type. She’s scary good in Ozark.

I’m sure she’s figured out by now to not tell anyone anything major until it’s like, just about to happen. Especially in high school because high school kids are total a holes.

Ozark is so good! I love her character in it. There are some great female characters in it. I’m looking forward to season 3 coming out

Season 3 of Ozark will be action packed, probably, because Season 2 was so broody!

I saw her in Electrick Children (2012) which was very good. She was so young but already a striking personality.

She’s one of my favorite young actresses and I want to watch this film but I have to say it’s one of the worst trailers I’ve recently seen

She’s an incredible actress, and she has this timeless old soul appeal. Like Saoirse does.
