Cameron Douglas’ girlfriend arrested for slipping him heroin in a toothbrush

Ghosts Of Girlfriends Past Los Angeles Premiere
I have to admit to being fascinated with the story of Cameron Douglas. Cameron, 30, is the eldest son of Michael Douglas. He has an $80 million trust fund and comes from a privileged family of famous actors, but still chose a life as a drug dealer to the elite. Cameron’s operation was huge and he regularly traveled across country to deal methamphetamine, often shipping drugs and accepting cash through FedEx. The DEA closed in on him late last month after an extensive sting, arresting Cameron at a hip NY hotel after he’d dealt $18,000 worth of meth. He faces a minimum sentence of ten years and could get as much as life in prison. The latest news in this sordid tale has Cameron’s girlfriend, Kelly Sott, attempting to smuggle drugs to him at his NY apartment, where he was under house arrest. She tried to pass him an electric toothbrush with the battery compartment filled with heroin. The toothbrush was intercepted and Kelly was arrested.

The girlfriend of actor Cameron Douglas was arrested Monday for allegedly trying to smuggle heroin to him in an electric toothbrush, court papers show.

Kelly Sott was busted after passing the toothbrush to Douglas while he was under home detention following a court hearing on his drug charges. She was arrested at the Hotel Gansevoort in Manhattan where she was staying.

Douglas, 30, the son of actor Michael Douglas, was arrested at the same hotel last week and faces a methamphetamine-dealing charge.

Douglas had been on house arrest at the New York home of his stepmother, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and went to court for an appearance Monday. The home is being monitored by a private security company.

According to a federal complaint, a security guard overheard a phone conversation in which Douglas asked for a toothbrush. Douglas “appeared to be very concerned about when the toothbrush would be delivered,” the complaint says. According to another guard, Douglas had already been provided with a toothbrush a few days earlier.

Later that day, Sott arrived and delivered a black bag containing various items including an electric toothbrush. One of the guards searched the battery compartment of the toothbrush and discovered approximately “19 glassines containing a brownish substance that appeared to be heroin,” the complaint says. A field test revealed it to be about seven grams of heroin, according to the complaint.

After Sott’s arrest, a search of the hotel room where she was staying also uncovered other glassines with what appeared to be heroin and small amounts of suspected crystal methamphetamine and marijuana.

The most interesting part of this story is the criminal complaint against Sott, available in PDF form, which includes a first-person account from the DEA agent who busted Cameron with the help of an undercover witness. Cameron is not named, but it’s easy to figure out that he’s being referred to using the code “CC-1.” Apparently Kelly helped Cameron ship drugs throughout the US, and is named as the person who shipped a package containing meth in late July to their cooperating witness. The witness is described as a person who has “been charged with, and plead guilty to, federal narcotics violates, and is cooperating with the Government in the hope of receiving a reduced sentence.” Kelly shipped the meth to their witness by using an assumed name at a mailbox store and paying in cash. The package contained “a gift basket wrapped in cellophane containing a scented candle and bath-related products, as well as three round canisters containing crystal rock-like substances which appeared to be crystal meth.”

It looks like Cameron’s girlfriend is also going to jail, and that they’re both about to go through withdrawl considering how much evidence of heroin use was found in her room. Now that someone’s attempted to slip Cameron drugs, does this mean that a judge will take him off house arrest and put his ass in jail as he awaits trial?

This is why, dummies, you are not supposed to sample your wares.
How cracked out do you have to be to think that’s gonna work?
I would think even Winehouse could tell you a toothbrush is a stupid place to hide your meth. Nobody is buying a meth-head even uses a toothbrush

  2. Firestarter says:

And the dumb b**** award for 2009 goes to………

That must have been one hell of a toothbrush with a battery compartment able to house 7grams of H in little “glassines”.

  3. Diane says:

Needs to be off house arrest and in detox. He appears to be drug dependent, and she may be as well.

  4. Firestarter says:

@Diane-The dude has been drug dependent for years. He has been in and out of detox and it obviously isn’t working. What will work is a nice stint in an actual jail. That will straighten anyone out.

Why should he get a pass and head off to a cushy rehab when other, less fortunate people, don’t have that option? Just because he is celebrity spawn, doesn’t mean he is better than the thug dealer on the street and should be treated with kid gloves.

  5. iced opal says:

Oh my God, what an idiot! His withdrawal is going to be really bad.

  6. Fat Elvis says:

Firestarter: I totally agree. This spoiled little punk needs to be locked up and go through detox the hard way.

Why rich/celebrity parents shower their kids with ridiculous amounts of money rather than teach (and ultimately) expect said children to be self-reliant is beyond me.

  7. Lois says:

My first reaction to this story was how could a judge allow house arrest when that house was also home to young children?? Don’t CZJ and Michael Douglas have two children under 5?
However, the Daily News is reporting he is under house arrest at the New York home of his mother – Michael Douglas’ ex-wife, Diandra.

  8. Praise St. Angie! says:

I agree, he needs harsh detox but, unfortunately, you can get drugs, heroin included, in jail.

  9. Tia C says:

Why is this spoiled useless prick on house arrest? Why isn’t he locked up like everyone else would be with his charges? WTF?! I just don’t get it.

  10. fizXgirl314 says:

damn, that guy must be going to some major withdrawals… i kind of feel sorry for him.

  11. No Sensi says:

Yeah I’m guessing it’s even easier to get ‘arse-compartment’ heroin in jail than the ‘toothbrush compartment’ stuff at home…

  12. Niamh says:

If they want him to detox they should keep him out of jail.

  13. pebbles says:

    wow! 80 million….
i could do a lot of things with 80 million, but heroin, no.

  14. hmm says:

How many people who are accused of drug trafficking are sentenced to house arrest? He should be in jail along with the other drug dealers not some cushy townhouse because he’s rich.

  15. Magsy says:

Shame, he’s got a cute little face. Maybe Robert Downey Jr. could come in and mentor him.

  16. Firestarter says:

He doesn’t need detox, what he needs is jail time, like the rest of us would have if we were stupid enough to sell/traffic/do drugs.

  17. j. ferber says:

I still say he is not doing any ten year stint in jail. No way. Or maybe he’ll do the ten years in his mom’s posh townhouse. Maybe his lawyer will try to blame the girlfriend for everything, too. I also read the girlfriend said she had no idea that heroin was in the toothbrush. Smart defense.

  18. Firestarter says:

J.Ferber- It will be hard for Douglas NOT to do at least 7-10, if not longer, given that it was a three year Federal Drug sting. The only way he may get a reduced sentence, is if he too, works with the Feds and gets a deal to get the big supplier. The only thing is, jail time might seem the better choice than ratting out his supplier, because moving quanties like that means you are dealing with some tough homres, and they do not like to be snitched on. Sometimes a snitch ends up not so alive.

There is no way, after prior drug offenses and this being with the DEA that he will get off. He’ll go to prison for a good stint.

  19. anna says:

Well, at least there won’t be accusations of nepotism in his career.

  20. gg says:

He’s sure got one dumb-looking tattoo down his forearm.

  21. Snoopchew says:

Whatever college he graduated from (I assume he was a college graduate since his elite family would have insisted on it) did not teach “common sense”.
His choices make no sense at all. All that money in his trust and nothing to do with it but establish drug connections with the elite and ruin his life? No sense at all!
