The NAACP Image Awards were held on Saturday night and it was a very well-attended awards show. Beyonce did not show up though (she has in the past). Blue Ivy Carter won her first Image Award for co-writing “Brown Skin Girl” and Beyonce won six Image Awards for The Lion King: The Gift album. But let’s talk about Rihanna! Rihanna won the President’s Award for her body of work, including her charitable foundation, her music and more. Rihanna wore this boxy Givenchy dress which… it’s a pretty color! And Rihanna can pull off almost anything, so even though I don’t like the dress, she still looks awesome. Her speech was awesome too – it was all about allyship and intersectionality and how everything is about everyone.

Brie Larson was a hilarious mess in this Rodarte dress, omg. I can’t believe Rodarte did her dirty like this!! Incredible. The gloves!!
Angela Bassett in Azzi & Osta. It’s insane to me that she looks this amazing.

Since Rihanna gained a little weight, she’s been camouflaging with strategically placed ruffles and A-line dresses that are voluminous…and usually looks great. It’s the neckline on this dress that sucks. Too high and round. Great color tho.
Lizzo looks fantastic in that dress!! Her hair & make-up are always perfect but she misses with some clothes…not this time!
Gorgeous color on Rhi’s dress, but yeah…that neckline! Combined with the sleeves, it makes her look as big as a linebacker! Take away the sleeves, halter/V/scoop the neck and it’d be a million times better.

Yeah, I like the bottom of Rihanna’s dress but the top looks matronly. Lizzo and Janelle look fabulous.
IMO, the best dress yesterday was Tracee Eliss Ross’. Best gown I have seen all year!

I don’t comment on fashion posts too often, but I did like that eveyone looked really nice. Ditto on Lizzo in a most flattering outfit. I really liked the way eveyone put on clothes and not naked looking outfits, or just basically walking around in lingerie. Oh, and Janelle Monae, and Angela Bassett are just drop dead gorgeous!
All gorgeous ladies but I don’t like any of these looks. Rihanna is so cool. I loved her speech. She’s very smart and she gets the seriousness of the situation America is facing right now.

Brie’s look is awful. Don’t like Rihanna’s dress. Everyone else looks stunning. I love every look and dress.
I think they don’t care about “looking good.” This is high fashion among the rich and famous. They want outlandish and loud or quirky and reactionary and that’s how its been since the dawn of time if you look through history! I even saw it in myself. When I had a lot less money I just wanted a pretty dress and to look good. Now that I have a few like that, I lean more toward something different, unique, loud, colourful and just a bit off but boss-like. And Rihanna is the queen of boss-like so I think she’s killing it.
Brie Larson’s Rodarte is a “got dressed in the dark” mess! It looks like something the mice and birds in Cinderella made in the dark after a late night drunken party.
Brie looks nice though.
I kind of liked Rihanna’s dress but it looks like it’s meant to hide her shape. I first thought pregnancy Or weight gain, but maybe she just likes it. It’s kind of a weird look but looks cool on her.
I thought RiRi dressed for the award she was winning. I think she wanted people to focus on what she was saying and not what she was wearing.
I like Yara’s look. She’s young and it is a fun dress. She doesn’t seem to take it all to seriously.

I would love for Celebitchy to cover the NAACP more in depth. This site is great when it talks about diversity and social change but the posts are still mainly about white celebrities…

Agree. There are days i scroll through and not click on a single story coz it’s all white, and sometimes there are so many stories on other POC floating around at the same time. Also, Rihanna’s speech was so much bigger than just the fashion, and i am saddened fashion is what was focused on. meh.
