Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt encourage 3-year-old Shiloh’s acting dreams

Brad Pitt and Shiloh are show in Cannes in May, 2008.

When Shiloh Jolie-Pitt isn’t busy single-handedly rescuing a village of children in Nambia, it seems the three-year-old is dreaming of becoming an actress. The Enquirer is reporting that Shiloh has started telling everyone that she wants to do “what mommy and daddy do” and that Angelina and Brad are encouraging her. Shiloh’s first gig was in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, with her dad, and for now, Brad and Angelina want Shiloh to only work in their projects. They’re even considering enrolling her into a performing arts school:

[Three-year-old Shiloh] has already caught the acting bug – and has the full support of her movie star parents.

“Shiloh’s the product of the two best-looking actors in the world – she was custom-made to be in the movies,” enthused a longtime friend of the couple. “Her parents are already grooming her to be an actress. Brad and Angie were skeptical when Shiloh first started telling friends and family, ‘I want to do what mommy and daddy do.’ But they made a vow a while ago that they’d let each one of their six kids pursue their dreams and would encourage them to follow their passions.”

Asked at the LA premiere of Inglourious Basterds if they’d permit their children to follow in their footsteps as actors, Angelina promised she and Brad would “support” their youngsters’ career ambitions.

[Shiloh] made her big-screen debut in papa Pitt’s 2008 flick, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. And she’s already receiving a steady stream of movie, TV and commercial offers.

“At first, Brad and Angie laughed off the interest, but as she’s grown older, they haven’t been able to help but notice how Shi constantly poses in the mirror and puts on her own mini-plays,” said the friend.

“As a result, they’re looking into getting her an acting coach, and they’ve decided to ease her into the film world by first securing her small roles in their own pictures. They’re even batting around the idea of putting Shi in a performing arts school program.”

Although Shiloh is a natural ham, her siblings don’t yet appear to share her fascination, say sources. When Angelina was filming Salt in NY this past spring, Shiloh pestered Brad about going to the set.

“When she got her wish to see her mom work, Shiloh sat in her own director’s chair – eyes glued to all the behind-the-scenes action,” confided the friend.

Concluded the friend: “Shiloh was born to be a star, and her folks are doing their best to give her an early start on her dream.”

[From the National Enquirer, print edition, August 31 2009]

I wouldn’t be surprised if Shiloh ended up an actress, that’s why I believe some of this. I’ll also buy that Angelina is the kind of mother who would whole-heartedly encourage this dream – after all, Angelina’s mother did the same thing. Marcheline Bertrand enrolled Angelina in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute when Angelina was, like, nine years old or something crazy like that. As for Brad, I doubt he wants “daddy’s girl” Shiloh to jump into being some kind of crazy child actor. Although it’s said he was the one to suggest then-baby Shiloh for the small part in Benjamin Button. So maybe he would be cool with it, but only when Shiloh works with either him or Angelina. As for the other kids… well, my guess is that the rest of them are preparing for cabinet positions during Empress Zahara’s reign.

    I can not get over how much she looks like her grandfather.

  2. Praise St. Angie! says:

    man, their kids sure are cute.

    Edit: to Taylor B…I was going to comment on how much Shiloh resembles a young Jon Voight. I wonder if that ever irks Angie when she looks at Shiloh, considering their tumultuous relationship.

  3. Mave says:

    no roots and a child star…haven’t they seen the celebrity rehab shows…they are filled with this exact formula….For people who claim they are so smart..I don’t know.

  4. Beth says:

    Shiloh’s scene in “Buttons” was for three seconds. If I remember correctly the baby who was supposed to do the scene was sick or fussy when they were about to shoot. They probably could have used a doll and nobody would have noticed. I doubt Shiloh has dreams of being an actress or anything else. Kids at the age always want to be an actress, dancer, fireman, etc. It’s completely normal.

  5. elisabetta says:

    This sounds like wishful thinking on the part of the author of the story…

    I highly doubt a 3 year old sits on set with her eyes glued to the behind the scenes action. She probably doesn’t go to set, and if she does I’m sure she runs around and makes her own action. 3 year olds are very busy little creatures.

    I also don’t think Brad and Angelina are going to let their daughter become a child star. Maybe well see Shiloh in some films when she’s 18 or 19, but probably not before she has finished school. Brad seems too protective to let Shiloh become the next Lindsay Lohan.

  6. boomchakaboom says:

    I wanted to wear a tutu and ride horses bareback in the circus when I was a kid. My parents didn’t share the dream. Nipped that one right in the bud. They thought I should get something called “education” and I spent years in this thing called “school.” Much to my surprise, there were many, many, others whose parents held the same beliefs. Bizarre, huh?

  7. fizXgirl314 says:

    damn, that kid is so cute. Jolie seems to have it all these days… fame, fortune, family…and incredible genes… lucky biotch :-p

  8. Jen says:

    Regardless of how much they move around (which I personally think is great for them), their family seems very secure and close-knit.

    Besides, little kids usually start off saying “when I grow up, I’m gonna be just like mommy/daddy”, don’t they? If mom & dad are both actors, doesn’t it stand to reason that a 3-year old would pick that?

    Must’ve been a slow tabloid week, huh?

  9. Aviatrix says:

    They don’t need to ride the coattails of their childrens’ potential fame, so I don’t think we are looking at Dina Lohan and Billy Ray Cyrus. They appear to be the kind of normal parents that would embrace whatever talent that Shi has (regardless if it is acting, singing, athletic ability, saving villages, etc) and encourage her.

    One thing is for sure, she seems as if she was genetically engineered to be a heartbreaker.

  10. Lys says:

    They went to France to escape the POTTYGATE!

  11. MyThoughts says:

    This is some serious 3 year old stuff here…A gal that knows what she wants and all at the tender age of 3….Shiloh is ready for her closeups Mr. Pitt…

  12. Rosalee says:

    Well most 3 yr-olds dream of being just like mommy and daddy. Then at age 7 reality settles in and parents become uncool..what I find interesting is the Jolie/Pitt children are from an advanced race..they save villages, rescue children, emote on cue and have Oscar desires before entering pre-school..

  13. Antony says:

    This kid is never smilling!

  14. Catherine says:

    What a darling little girl! I highly doubt at the age of 3 that her dreams are all that serious to be noted as newsworthy.

  15. Kat says:

    One would hope that Shiloh’s parents have more smarts than White Oprah.

  16. tessa says:

    Aviatrix, I agree that Brad and Angelina wouldn’t need Shilohs income as some other child actors. They seem like wonderful parents and will encourage them to follow their dreams. There a a few child actors who haven’t messed their lives up.

  17. DonnaInMichigan says:

    Hey they pimped the child out when she was born. Continuously use the child for PR, it would only be the logical next step, is to pimp her out to Hollywood.

    That 50 million/35 room Chateau is costly in upkeep. And Brad and Angelina’s career isn’t going to last forever.

  18. Katyusha says:

    I can’t wait to see her when she’s in her 20’s…

  19. Anak says:

    Someone please take the pot away from him! Now he is saying trash over Cruise! My friend, Cruise is married, have regular number of kids, do not do drugs and do not have a mistress who is a serial homewrecker! You are really uncool!

  20. Lys says:

    And here are more lies! Every time they are not seen with good eyes (Potty Brad) they use the children. Poor kids. Be hidden all the time and them showed to get good looking for the “parents”. They can not even have friends to play as they are always fying from one country to another.

  21. Annie says:

    She probably does.

    She probably also wants to be a doctor, a vet and an astronaut.

    At 3. Kids want to be everything.

    Total nonstory.

  22. TaylorB says:

    Rosalee wrote “Then at age 7 reality settles in and parents become uncool”

    Ahhh, the good ol days… granted I didn’t start thinking my parents were uncool until I was about 11, and man alive were they the epitome of ‘uncool’. 😉

    When I was 3, if memory serves, I wanted to be a princess.

  23. Helen says:

    Potty train her first, and then talk about acting

  24. TaylorB says:

    What is ‘pottygate’?

  25. oh my says:

    “At first, Brad and Angie laughed off the interest, but as she’s grown older, they haven’t been able to help but notice how Shi constantly poses in the mirror and puts on her own mini-plays,”

    as she’s grown older?! dear lord, she’s three!

  26. Zoe (The Other One) says:

    That child is divine. Just beautiful. It’s stunning how much she looks like JV.

    As for 3yr olds knowing what they want to be when they grow up I’m fairly sure 99.9% of them would answer ‘like mummy and daddy’.

  27. Nono says:

    And I wanted to be a mermaid when I was 3.

  28. gorganzola says:

    this is horsesh*t. 1. This story would never have been leaked if it was Zahara, Pax or Maddox “wanting to do what mommy & daddy does”. But Shiloh is the progeny of the two most beautiful and successful people in Hollywood blah blahblahsnore. I guess the adopted kids just don’t count? So f*cking typical….
    2. What 3-year-old is cognizant of their parents’ career anyway? Especially when it’s as weird as being an actor. When I was 6, I still thought little elves lived in the TV.

  29. Essie says:

    This made up story is from the National Enquirer. Surely none of you actually believe it!! I seriously doubt Angelina or Brad want their pre-school child to go into acting and I’m also sure they both are intelligent enough to know that children want to be everything and nothing!! As someone said, must have been a slow week in tabloid-land and somebody decided to print this non-story. After all, the Jolie-Pitts sale magazines!!!

  30. rop says:

    Shiloh is a cute kid. Kids of this age think the world revolves around them. Tell me what three year old doesn’t enjoy being the center of attention. “This story, like most is so lame” enthused a longtime friend of ROP.

  31. Bill Hicks is God says:

    Right on. Wouldn’t want her to grow up and be a truly contributing member of society or anything. That “is ridiculous.”

    The cure for cancer might never be found because its discoverer was too busy with their sights on larking around in front of a camera with their head entirely up their arse like their parental units.

  32. Bill Hicks is God says:

    “Daddy, what’s ‘science?'”

  33. Hannah says:

    like most have said, what 3 yo little girl doesn’t want to be the center of attention and pose for cameras? good lord! The wanting to go to work with mommy? again, totally normal, not some divine sign, she wants to be with mommy. And eyes glued to behind the scenes action? prolly cuz a kids attention span is like 3 minutes, so whatever has the most action is what they pay attention to, can’t imagine she really has interest in the detailed production of a movie. I’m sure by next week she will be directing…

  34. dee says:

    THE IDIOT PARENTS OF THIS CHILD, ARE NUTS–PLAIN AND SIMPLE

  35. rop says:

    “Daddy, what’s ’science?’”

    Pitt: “Sweet pea, science is how genetically gifted our family is. It has been tested and the hypothysis has been accepted.”

  36. moo says:

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    sorry, but I think those words are too big for Brad’s vocabulary…
  37. ME says:
    Actually I think Shiloh is boring looking. “Blonde…wow. Blue eyes…wow.” (sarcasm)
    But Nahla Berry, THAT is one stunning baby.
  38. DD says:
    “product of the two best-looking actors in the world”
    oh my that is a rather ambitious statement. While I do think the A word is beautiful, I don’t consider the B word to be good looking at all. Although I’m sure that’s how they want to be perceived, with all the fake and non fake family portraits they love to share.
  39. DD says:
    now if the A word hooked up with Colin Farrel like she should’ve I might not have scoffed at that ludicrous statement.
  40. BRUSH HER HAIR says:
    If they do stick her in a movie, I hope she plays the part of a little girl who looks like she has taken a bath in the last month or so, has her hair brushed, and is wearing clothes that fit her.
    Seeing how her parents have no issue pimping her out for publicity stunts, I could see them releasing this story.
    FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, BRUSH THAT CHILD’S HAIR.
  41. Cali says:
    The most pimped child in Hollywood is Violet Affleck, her parents aren’t even that famous but there are pictures of her literally every day, you don’t see Shiloh or the other kids half as much. Jennifer Garner could teach a master class on pimping your child for publicity.
  42. Shanny says:
    DD she did hook up with Colin, he was smarter than Brad and knew he did not want the nutter long term, he just took her for a few “rides” and got the heck out of there.
    Elephant rides, yeah.
  43. Maritza says:
    Good for Shiloh! I believe being an actress is the best job in the world. They are over paid and hardly work, they travel the world and live in luxury, what’s not to like?
  44. Kiki says:
    Am I alone in thinking that Shiloh and her sis are going to make Ryan O’Neil’s kids look well-adjusted by comparison?
    She’s a cute kid-I think all of the J-P kids are are cute-but I would hardly call her the most beautiful child I have ever seen.
  45. Rosalee says:
    All the JP children are darling, but the most beautiful..no, my daughter and granddaughters carry that title. 😉
  46. t-t says:
    can she be any more beautiful?…the only one who can compete is halle berry’s daughter nahla…
  47. Denise says:
    They better not put Shiloh in a scene where she plays a normal little girl playing kickball in the backyard with her neighborhood friends while her mommy washes dishes in the kitchen. Shiloh will think this is totally bizarre….
  48. pst says:
    Zahara is most likely the one who’ll be in the showbizz world than any other jolie-pitt child, if not as actress than as a model
  49. lway says:
    Gorgeous Kids. Shiloh is so beautiful
  50. JazzyB. says:
    I Do NOT Get it First U ppl say she’s Not seen enough THEN you say they show her ALL the time and are PIMPING her out??? Really?!?! Whatever I LUV The Kids their SUPER Cute
  51. frewt says:
    Hey ‘ME’! You’re an asshole.
  52. Hmmm says:
    Okay, whomever wrote this little piece is making a grand leap in calling Brad and Angelina “the two best-looking actors in the world”. Huh? I think this is the best example of subjective viewing that I’ve experienced in a very long time. I’ll leave it at that.
