Melania Trump jerked her hand away from her husband again on the debate stage

2020 Presidential Debate at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee

If it wasn’t clear from my earlier post, I didn’t watch the whole fakakta debate. This was only the second time Joe Biden and Donald Trump were on a debate stage together, and only the first time they’ve been on a stage together where Trump wasn’t feverish and insane from the coronavirus. It actually wouldn’t surprise me at all if they gave Trump some drugs to make him calm down a little bit? I mean, he was still insane and lies poured out of his mouth like wine, but he was “calmer” than we’ve seen before. Of course, that didn’t stop his wife from hating his guts. Melania was there at the Tennessee debate hall, making her first public appearance in the three weeks since she tested positive for the coronavirus too. After the debate, Dr. Jill Biden and Melania walked on stage to greet their husbands. This is what happened when Donald Trump tried to hold his wife’s hand:

Another video:

I will say this – there were some tweets suggesting that Donald Trump “shoved” her after she jerked her hand away, but he didn’t? He gave her a pat on the back, more out of disorientation than anything else. He was clearly trying to get Melania to guide him off the stage and she wasn’t about to. Yeah. She hates him. And considering all of the time he’s been spending with Hope Hicks, I think Mel probably already knows that within a year, she’s not going to be around.

People were also wondering if it looks like Mel has a black eye? I don’t think so, I think she was just wearing too much makeup and the lighting wasn’t great.

I really don’t understand why she doesn’t leave while he’s in office. It would be a great “eff you”. But I guess she doesn’t really care, does she.

    • ccsays says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s in a pre-nup somewhere that she’ll get more if she stays with him till the end of his term.

      • Sayrah says:

I’m sure that’s it. They’ll be divorced within 2 years of his leaving office.

      • Sharon says:

Remember she wouldn’t even move from NY and into the White House until she re-negotiated her pre-nup!

      • emu says:

absolutely, they thought this through. Makes trumpy look better to some people – who I don’t know

      • josephine says:

@ emu – I feel like it makes Trump look like he was handed his a** by a woman who had him over the barrel. And an immigrant at that – must really steam his buns to know that he had to renegotiate a deal just to keep her around. Of course, deep down he must know that no woman would want him without a contract. So to me, it just makes him look pathetic, but people who vote for him aren’t exactly thinkers.

      • liz says:

She renegotiated her contract before she agreed to move to DC from NY. I’m sure it includes a “if you stay married as long as he’s President” there is a massive bonus payment clause in there somewhere. They day he’s out of office and she has the bonus payment in her offshore bank account is the day she files for divorce.

      • PixiePaperdroll says:

With what money? Isn’t he 300 million in debt? Is she going to have to haul out the gold toilets herself?

    • DaffiestPlot says:

I’m sure it’s all spelled out in their legal agreement.

    • Becks1 says:

Someone said (I feel like it was a reputable source but could be wrong about that….) that the reason it took her so long to move to DC was bc she was renegotiating her prenup – basically having to be First Lady wasn’t part of the deal. I’m sure part of the new deal was that she has to stay as long as he’s president.

      • Wiglet Watcher says:

That was internet gossip that made it to print.
Personally, I believe the former bff in her book account. That Melania wouldn’t move until all the bathrooms were ripped out and replaced. After the Obamas

    • Snappyfish says:

I can’t imagine how angry she must be. She married this horrible person for his money & now she knows she has been Effing him for free. She is a horrible birther, lying (no college degree we discover) chain migrating, the children in cages have a chest of drawers, evil POS. I have no sympathy for her & laugh at her horrible horrible choice of a “sugar daddy” instead she chose ersatz Don

      • shanaynay says:

She has made her bed and now she must lie in it!!!!

      • ChillyWilly says:

I think she hates him ruining her cushy life. She obviously hates being First Lady and resents him for effing everything up with his Presidency shining a giant spotlight on the family crimes. She will be gone when he loses.
Trump is gonna die broke and alone, never truly being loved or loving anyone but himself. Joe Biden on the other hand, has loved others and been loved his entire life and will leave this world surrounded by that love.

    • julia says:

And in no way do I feel sorry for her. It’s pretty funny that she’s stuck. I wonder if she loses a little bit of money every time she doesn’t look like a loving wife looollloool.

    • Reece says:

I think she’s in it til the end. The very end. 😉

  2. Mrs. Peel says:

No sympathy for Melania, but I understand if she hates him as much as the rest of world does.

    • AmyB says:

@Mrs. Peel – agreed. Especially after those tapes came out where she basically said “Fuck Christmas” LMAO I don’t feel sorry for any of his wives (especially the last two), they married knowing who he was, and for money! He is garbage, and a POS. The only pity I reserve is for Barron.

    • Yup, Me says:

Probably more. She’s smelled his farts. He looks like he eats trash and the resulting stench is rancid.

      She sucks, though, so meh.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Jill came up and hugged her husband. Melanoma came up like she was meeting an ugly blind date.

  3. BayTampaBay says:

I think Hope Hicks is just using Trump for all she can get out of it. There is no way Hope Hicks will become the 4th Mrs. Donald as she has seen all there is to see and knows all there is to know. I am sure does not want to go there and become a long term caregiver for senior citizen dementia patient.

    • LaraK says:

Oh I think for the money and power, she totally would.

But I think she is seeing his debt, his grifting, and his family, and knows once he is no longer president, the money will evaporate in a huge cloud of law suits.

      • Rita says:

Russia and China will pay Donald for America’s secrets he has no problem selling them he’s got debts to pay. Really hope the intelligence services are withholding a lot from him.

      • Diane says:

There is no money. Melania better have a stash of money somewhere because Trump is going to spend the rest of his life fighting prison.

      • Poisonella says:

        – I think you’re giving Hope Hicks too much credit. First she has an affair with the married Corey Lewandowsi- a real prize he is. Then she moves on to the guy who beat up the ex-wives. Don the Con is a step up for her. Also, did her parents never tell her you don’t s**t where you live? At least she didnt wind up with that ghoul Stephen Miller.

      • Sass says:

@poison you are right – however, it is “don’t shit where you eat.”

    • Korra says:

I mentioned this before, but Hope Hicks has spent the majority of her professional career being enmeshed with the Trump family. Regardless of how toxic the Trump family is, her career exists because of them — her stints in their family business, her WH roles, even her gig at Fox News. She is loyal because they have given her so many opportunities and backstage access to their inner workings, particularly Donald.

When this is all over, she apparently has a 50-something, wealthy boyfriend who works for Goldman Sachs; I would not be surprised If she married this guy and had kids, quietly stepping out of public life. Because otherwise, she has very few, if any, career options left outside of the Trump family.

  4. Lizzie says:

Money transferred to her bank account and she shows up. Transfer more if you want to hold her hand.

  5. Merricat says:

She knows exactly who he is, and has known for years.

    • Seraphina says:

Correct. Before all of the PONTUS stuff, her life was of leisure in Florida. And I am sure far away from him. Now she has to deal with him and play the part. she made her bed and now she has to lay on it. The devil always gets his due.

    • emu says:

true, but it is also different when he’s just a whiny ‘rich’ dude who golfs all the time and leaves you alone to shop and gallivant, but when he is getting attention all the time and ramping up his rhetoric, actually acting on his rhetoric, and seeming more and more pathetic, and roping her in… Come on.

      • Merricat says:

        Is it different? Huh.

      • Moonmade says:

I agree, I don’t think she thought she would have to ‘work’ when she got married so she hates him for that more than anything but also –
Wouldn’t you absolutely loathe the person who was so blatantly careless about spreading germs your child gets ill?
        Her statement afterwards :
“Naturally my mind went immediately to our son.” and “When my husband was taken to Walter Reed as a precaution, I spent much of my time reflecting on my family” and
“For me personally, the most impactful part of my recovery was the opportunity to reflect on many things—family, friendships, my work, and staying true to who you are.”
She doesn’t specifically say she was concerned for her husband, it was cleverly worded IMO

      • Merricat says:

If you marry a stupid, racist, rapey man for his money, you get what you deserve–I don’t really care, do you?

  6. Swack says:

Not a shove but more of a get moving pat on her back.

    • Juls says:

I think he was reaching out for assistance. Did you see how unsteady he was? I’m shocked he didn’t fall down when she jerked her hand away. Hes really feeble.

  7. Noki says:

I hope the makers of VICE the Dick Cheney movie do one of the Trumps.

  8. Noodle says:

I saw pictures of them holding hands and her hand on his back before the debate, and truly wondered if they found a Melania look-alike to play her role last night. She was wearing a large mask and it was uncharacteristically warm body language.

  9. jaylee says:

I loathe Melania. She’s completely useless & just as demented as her husband. Can’t wait until she f*cks off & I don’t have to see her stupid blue steel impression whenever she feels like showing up.

    • Anne Call says:

I love that she probably thought she was going to monetize the presidency big time after he left office, but instead he’ll be fighting indictments and no one will be buying the “trump” brand except maybe a trump trailer park in Mississippi or Moscow.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

I remember somewhere she sued someone over trademarks Beckenstein she wanted to monetise her “position”

  10. Tiffany says:

Of course she is salty, there is no money.

    • Snuffles says:

I wonder how much she knew about his finances. Is the fact that he owes up to a billion dollars news to her? Either way, I fully expect her to bounce after the election.

  11. Becks1 says:

He doesn’t shove her, I think he put his hand on her back to try to save face, because his hand was just kind of hanging there after she ripped hers away, so he tried to act like he was intending to pat her on the back all along.

  12. Christin says:

    Nice *sleeveless* dress.

  13. Sid says:

She hates him even more than she did before all of this. All she likely wanted was to live her best vapid rich chick life in NYC in peace, going shopping, redecorating her penthouse, and regular salon visits. Now she’s been “stuck” in DC for 4 years, forced to smile and actually do something akin to work, and with none of the freedom she had before, thanks to her megalomaniac husband. Yeah, she haaaates him.

    • Tiffany says:

She knew. She wanted this. She thought being 1st Lady would help her brand and it did not. Instead, she is a petty piece of you-know-what who sues for pocket money.

    • MF1 says:

Then she discovered he’s broke when the NYT story came out! Bet she wouldn’t have stayed if she knew he was hundreds of millions of dollars in debt.

And then, because he’s too stupid to wear mask, he got COVID and transmitted to her and her teenage son.

I think she’s a terrible human being without an ounce of empathy or goodness, but if she’s got 2 brain cells to rub together, she’ll smarten up and leave him.

    • Gina says:

I agree. She’s moving back to New York without him.

      • liz says:

She will be a social outcast in NYC. There will be no invites to the Met Gala and tickets to the Robin Hood Foundation dinner will be impossible to get for her. The parents from Barron’s old school will have moved on without her. She wasn’t seen much on the society scene previously, but I suspect she burned what few bridges she had. If she stays in the US once Barron is out of high school, I suspect it will be in Florida.
She’s a loathsome person in her own right and can go crawl under a rock somewhere.

      • Merricat says:

New York society hates Trump, and have for years. Being an ex-Trump MIGHT give her a better chance with them, except she’s already shown who she is, so forget it.

      • Lizzie says:

She probably has her next husband picked out.

  14. Teebee says:

It’s amazing she’s suddenly feeling well enough to come to the debate.

Ricola cough drops are a miracle cure, aren’t they? 🙄

    • Mimi says:

I really believe a check for a few hundred thousand change d hands to get her to ‘recover’ and go.

  15. Rapunzel says:

Definitely didn’t push her. Gave her a pat on the back to look “affectionate.”
With all the valid awfulness of Trump, there’s no need to make things up. Ppl

She tore her hand away, but I’m unclear if she’s mad or just wanted off the stage, and knew she could move faster without him. Probably both.

  16. Liz version 700 says:

I have reached a degree of comfort with the premise that she hates his guts, but is also a terrible human being herself. She is certainly no victim.

  17. Lemons says:

At the start of the debate, Trump came out looking dejected, down, depressed. If he could have sat down to cry and throw a mini tantrum, I think he would have. His body language spoke failure.

  18. jferber says:

Of course there is money! It’s illegal money, but it’s still green. Remember, there is the 307 million dollar “deficit” in Trump’s donations for re-election? And all the finger-pointing? Yes, a slush fund in a secret compartment of the swamp. I just read an article in NBC News (I think) where the commentator said Trump will be ripe for a deal when he loses the election. He will voluntarily leave office and not start inciting rioting in the streets if there is a negotiation with him to curb his post-office woes (even eliminate them?) He’s a shrewd survivor and his only real concern is himself, so the newsman reasoned. It’s better for our democracy that our cities are not all on fire and wingnuts in open-carry states are not stalking the streets creating turmoil and murder with police sanction (remember the Wisconsin murders)? I personally feel that I’d rather have Trump make a deal than destroy this country with the civil war he is most capable of igniting. Yes, it’s dishonest and wrong, but our democracy and our lives must go on.

    • Deering24 says:

Ah, the Nixon gambit. Problem with that is the perp walks away with no consequences for the damage he’s caused. Trump has destroyed too many lives and done major damage to our institutions. No way should he get any kind of deal.

  19. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

    I got nothing.

  20. Marigold says:

They both looked sad and unhealthy in those photos. I skipped the debate. I just can’t watch anymore.

  21. AL says:

And all the suburban housewives sighed and said, “I want to be loved like that honey” and placed their bets on 45…or not.

  22. L4frimaire says:

I avoided this debate because I already voted and I already have too much elation anxiety. I’ve never seen anyone treat the job of First Lady with as much disinterest as Melania. She really hates it, but she just openly reflects how the others in Trumps White House are feeling. They’re all so incredibly awful and those in the administration who support them see them as a useful tool to strip the environment and pack the courts with right wing extremists, or really just prioritize their bigotry and self interests in avoiding paying taxes. That’s it.

    • booboocita says:

Those in the administration who support them are jackals, circling the lions to see what carrion they can scavenge. Too bad for them the lions are sick and dying and the carrion is already rotten.

  23. Milkweed says:

I missed this last night. Their relationship is yikes. He most certainly abuses her and I hope she gets away soon.

  24. Franny says:

She knows the SDNY is circling the entire grifter family. It’s just a matter of time before they’re all indicted (fingers crossed, anyway!).

  25. Maida says:

Every time I see Melania now, I hear her voice on that recording talking about how much she hates decorating the WH for Christmas and how she hates pretending to care about the kids at the border who are separated from their parents. If she’s miserable, she deserves to be.

Agree that the pat on the back was just an awkward attempt to look affectionate, and that Melania doesn’t have a black eye, just heavy makeup. The truth is bad enough: no need to get into conspiracy theory territory with these two.

  26. Mindy_Dopple says:

Idk, it does kind of look like he shoves her and it’s a reaction to her ripping her hand away. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Maybe it was to remind her that the contract said to hold hands UNTIL we’re off the stage, but IMO there was just a little more oomph behind that “pat”. The second clip that shows the slow down closer also looks like she wiped her hand on her dress afterwards. Eeek that’s cold!

    • Larisa says:

I agree with you, I see exactly what you see, I also think it’s a contained shove that was an irritated reaction to her pulling her hand away. He realized he couldn’t shove her half-way through the motion, so he lingered to make it look like a pat, but there was, like you said, already quite a bit of momentum there to make it look weird.

  27. Wilma says:

They probably have some kind of dominatrix thing going on.

  28. MissMarierose says:

I hope they’re both unendingly miserable for the rest of their pathetic lives.

  29. Coco says:

First off, I read a couple days ago that Her COVID was still symptomatic – she was still coughing, so she should not have been in public.

Second, I understand that people want to have sympathy for Melania, even if I don’t agree with it. She’s conventionally beautiful, and our culture socializes us to associate beauty with goodness. Everyone knows that Donald Trump treats women like garbage, so we feel protective of the woman closest to him and most likely to be treated poorly all the time. Plus, I think people have felt so powerless in the face of this administrations criminality and fascism that they like the narrative of someone in Donald’s own family working behind the scenes to undermine him. It’s nice to think the enemy of my enemy is my friend. However, to quote Crazy Ex Girlfriend, ‘it’s a lot more nuanced than that.’ This isn’t the Yalta Conference. Perhaps Melania doesn’t like that Trump is in power, but only because it damages the brand and potentially reduces all the money she hopes she and her son will receive. She has no moral outrage about his presidency. Maybe she doesn’t want him to win another term, but that’s because she’s annoyed by Christmas stuff, not that she has a fear that he’s the greatest threat to the nation since the Civil War.

  30. jferber says:

Maida, well said. Coco, Melania couldn’t give a shit about “the greatest threat to the nation since the Civil War.” What’s she’s against is a threat to her personal comfort and convenience. Bitch has priorities exactly the same as her husband. A match made in Hell!

  31. Mina_Esq says:

Melania is upset because she has to start preparing Xmas decorations again. And do we really think Hope Hicks would go for Trump? That’s just so gross. She strikes me more as someone that wants to have a mild degree of attraction to her sugar daddy, so maybe a middle-aged financier. Eh, to each their own. The whole lot of them is despicable.

  32. B n A fn says:

Did anyone noticed at the end of the debate 45 looked dazed as if he was gasping for air, then appeared unsteady when he grabbed his wife hand as if for support. I have not seen anyone saying they observed this at the end. Also, they appeared as if they are strangers, not connected.

  33. Melissa says:

I don’t understand why it’s okay for her with symptoms to be out and about. There should have been plexiglass between the two men for sure.
And Melanie looked like she had dark bags under her eyes. They’re disgusting.

  34. jferber says:

Oh, I think Hope would marry trump in a minute. There are no “values” about it, not even a mild attraction to her sugar daddy. Their minds are like tractors: chewing, shredding, cutting everything down. They leave the chaff and take the wheat. Also, I’d compare them to calculators, but only for their own gain. Even if we were to think of trump as a weed (a stink weed?), their tractor/calculator minds would chomp and compute (mixed metaphor/simile anyone?) and spit out an answer. And the answer is, “Yes, Mr. Trump, I’ll marry you.”

  35. 2lazy4username says:

I don’t understand what purpose the debates even serve at this point. How can *anybody* be on the fence?

  36. Jay says:

Looks like somebody forgot to put public handholding in his prenup!

What do you think Melania will be doing in two years? Publishing a memoir (Becoming Best lol)? Divorcing him and do the real housewives circuit? I’m trying not to consider her anywhere near the white house.

  37. Valerie says:

There was no affection in that back pat, either. It was like, “Yeah, just go.”

  38. Sonia says:

I watched it several times and it looked like he let go first? Her hand was slower to drop and was still turned palm up.

  39. KellySunshine says:

She’ll probably divorce him ASAP, and then make millions on a tell-all book…

  40. Nana says:

    Be best, Melania. Be best…

  41. Nightsky says:

It looks like she’s being held hostage by an orange toad.

  42. Bread and Circuses says:

When her ex-assistant went public (the “fuck Christmas” tapes), she noted that Melania had been known to disdainfully say, “I know who I married,” when someone tried to broach the topic of her husband’s awfulness.

Trump apparently respects her opinion and solicits it, too. Apparently she’s very good at saying, “No, that’s not your brand. This is what you should say instead.”

In other words, she chose this, and she knows what she chose. She maybe isn’t exactly happy, but she’s got no illusions about where she chose to be.

Who knows why she wasn’t happy that night. Maybe she’s just mad he gave her and Barron COVID19.

  43. Marni112 says:

When I see the video, I see him shoving her arm back to her and the not so gentle , push off the stage. Based on the Stephanie tapes , though they seem a match of like minds.

  44. Tursitops says:

I stand by my assertion that the only reason that she wore gloves at the inauguration was to hide her cloven hooves.

They all know the score, always have, and so deserve all the misery coming their way.
