The Trump campaign left supporters stranded in the dark in Omaha

It’s always said that in the last week of an election, it’s not about convincing swing voters or changing hearts and minds. It’s about turnout. It’s about convincing every single registered voter to cast their ballot. Which is why candidates will often do a blitz of appearances in swing states AND states where they just need to convince their voters to turn out, even if everyone knows they’re solidly Republican or solidly Democratic. That being said, it’s kind of a strange move for Trump to be in NEBRASKA on the Tuesday before Election Day. Nebraska is solidly red. Nebraska has not voted for a Democratic presidential candidate in my lifetime. Trump doesn’t even need to worry about turning out the vote in Nebraska. So why was he there?

So, yeah, Trump threw himself a lil’ Nazi rally in Omaha last night. He actually made two campaign stops, one in Lansing, Michigan and one in Omaha. Michigan is a legit swing state. I’m sure there were probably a million lines which would have outraged me, but these are the ones I’m choosing to focus on:

Just the 1950s vibe of “we’re getting your husbands back to work” especially with record numbers of women losing their jobs during the pandemic… holy sh-t. As for “vanquish the vaccine…” he really struggles to say anything about the pandemic. My God.

Anyway, after his lil’ Nazi rally was over in Omaha, Trump waddled back to Air Force One and got the f–k out of Nebraska. Leaving “thousands” of supporters stranded in the dark, miles away from their cars, in what was apparently blistering cold. Elderly people ended up in the hospital.

Their votes put babies in cages, and many will never see their parents again, so…thoughts and prayers? Best wishes? Warmest Regards?

I really don’t care, and I actually laughed my head off reading that “Omaha Scanner” account this morning. Oh, I’ve turned evil.

    • Wiglet Watcher says:

      This.

      • Chris says:

God bless their heart. My thoughts and prayers go out to them.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

The ONLY ones i feel sympathy for are the infants/children who were dragged there by their Nazi loving parents. THEY don’t deserve it. The rest of them? They can… well YOU know!

    • Digital Unicorn says:

You just know that as soon as he was on AF1, he spanked the little toadstool after his lil adulation fix.

    • HoofRat says:

I searched my heart for an iota of sympathy. None. Not a single scrap, fragment, molecule, nanoparticle. I hope these deplorable called their “socialist” kids for help, and were met with exactly the same response they would give if the situation were reversed.

      Trump debases us all.

    • Stacy Dresden says:

Omaha Scanner, you say? BRB i need a morning pick me up

    • whatWHAT? says:

      “best wishes”? “warmest regards”?

I’m thinking more like “you get what you pay for”.

      suckers.

and I’ll bet that any of those folks that haven’t voted yet will STILL vote for this monster.

(also, I know I always say this, but that GD LINE down the side of his face where the orange stops and the gray/white begins will ALWAYS make me point and laugh. it’s SO CLEARLY defined – how does he think that looks good?!)

    • AnnaKist says:

This is why I love coming to Celebitchy; we didn’t hear about any of this down here. As my teen nephews and nieces would say, “Suck shit to them.”
Eek I looked at the orange twunt. He has piggy eyes.

      • SomeChick says:

Yeah, I’d be happiest if we never saw this orange monstrosity ever again, but fewer photos on these posts would be a great start!

        Down with Twitler!

    • Wetcoastbestcoast says:

@Darla, “best wishes, warmest regards”? Please don’t do Moira Rose dirty like that. She’s a legend. <3 LOL!

    • Leah says:

Agreed. I have no effs left to give for people who would willingly vote my rights away.

    • Bambilee says:

100% THIS. I was gonna say, “f*king GOOD. Hopefully they’ll wake up and realize who they’re voting for.” But just. Yes. This. They put babies in cages, permanently traumatizing them. So yes, they can walk in the cold, in the dark, after they CHOSE TO GO to this stupid rally. F*k them.

    • Nancito says:

Now’s the right time for us all to be wearing Melania’s “I REALLY DON’T CARE DO YOU?” jacket.

  2. Edna says:

Stupid is as stupid does. Wish I could say I felt sorry for his cult followers but I honestly don’t. This is where I am now and I’m not happy about that. Trump cultists are like lemmings following their Orange leader off the cliff.

Oh, and the latest news is that per the Trump White House, the pandemic is over.

    • MsIam says:

I thought they were saying they couldn’t control the pandemic? So I guess the new strategy is to ignore it? Yikes!

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Nooooooo….Mark Meadows went on Jake Tapper Sunday and said, and I QUOTE: “We are NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING about this.” BIG difference between “can’t” and “won’t”

  3. Queen Meghan’s Hand says:

How vile. His supporters are a grotesque death cult. And I do not care that those who wish 3% of the population dead (if maskless-ness continues COVID-19 will kill 2-3%) were inconvenienced.

  4. heygingersnaps says:

It’s hard to muster any sympathy for people attending the orange turd’s covid19 super spreader/nazi rallies. Maybe it will knock some sense into them but I’m not holding my breath.

  5. Zaya says:

Trump leaving his supporters out in the cold…is what he has been doing his whole life. He doesn’t care about anyone but himself.

    • Lizzythe2 says:

I was horrified to read this. But this is really who he and his people are. They don’t really care about their people enough. Also, if they had not put off so many people that might have worked with them, they would have had experienced people who know all about logistics. I was not feeling to sympathetic until I read about the old people. Really I think most of them just listen to what h as been carefully given to them by the news organization that we know does that sort of thing. We know from the scams that is is very easy to fool older people so I do feel bad for them.

  6. Esmom says:

I saw Rex’s (love him, Chicagoan here) tweet as soon as I woke up and I am dumbfounded. He’s exactly right that this is Trump in a nutshell. And they can’t even blame this on Omaha being a “Democrat run city.” Although I’m sure they’ll find a way to deflect blame somehow.

And I laughed at the comments: “Don’t be afraid of the cold, don’t let it dominate you.” and “They’re only getting hypothermia because they’re testing more for hypothermia.”

  7. Bibi says:

Sorry for those who needed medical care, but fir the rest, it’s the best thing that could happen and I hope this confirms their vote. How hard can it be to organize busses going and then back? They can’t even do that, that’s how they’ve been running the country…

    • Teebee says:

Probably only had the cashola for a one way trip.

Satisfy Trump’s ego, then get left out in the cold.

    • whatWHAT? says:

I’m not even sorry for those idiots. play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

those folks clearly don’t give a F about any of the people who are STILL getting sick with Covid (and, in fact, some of them were probably infected and spreading it at this rally), so why should anyone care about them needing medical attention. they can FRO.

and Teebee, 100%. that’s all he cares about. he gets his, and F everyone else.

    • liz says:

Nope. They choose to go to that event, with their walkers and their wheelchairs. The only ones I feel sorry for are the kids who were brought by their parents. They had no say in the matter.

  8. jessamine says:

I will never not be heartened by this campaign’s absolute, abject, p***-poor staff work.

    • MaryContrary says:

Right? Jesus-this is so emblematic of how they run everything! They do a shoddy job, leave their own people by the wayside, and do.not.care. And to just echo everyone else-I do not feel one bit badly for those cult members who went and got stranded. This is exactly Trump in a nutshell-wake the fuck up.

  9. Teresa says:

Yea… Sorry not sorry. I’m sure every single one will still vote for him and probably think more of him for it. “He just gets it. He’s ain’t gunna baby no body. He’s so important and I’d do the same.”

  10. Mia4s says:

I don’t know, free buses seems a bit *gasp* socialist!!!! Maybe they should pull themselves up by their bootstraps and solve the hypothermia and seizures themselves? I mean…are they going to pay for that medical care they are getting? 😏

  11. Courtney B says:

Nebraska gives their electoral college votes proportionally. (As all states should since we’re not going to abolish the EC which would take a constitutional amendment. This move is up to the states themselves. Clinton would be President if more states, or all states, did this. ) They EC votes may not be a lot but he can’t lose any. And Omaha will likely go Democratic and they have the largest population area. Even Texas and Georgia are super competitive which is why Bloomberg is pouring in millions in ad buys and Biden was in Atlanta. I hope we have HUGE turnout and EC surprises to keep him out of court and trying to steal the election.

  12. Feedmechips says:

Honestly, I think this is great. If anyone deserved it, it’s these bootlickers.

  13. Lauren says:

I wonder if the trump campaign’s credit card got denied so they didn’t pay for the bus rentals as expected so the charter bus company said screw you and left.

  14. StephB says:

As a former resident of Nebraska, I guess I’ll point that Omaha is always at play. Nebraska is one of those states that splits electoral votes. Omaha/Douglas County is super purple so if he wants all 5 electoral votes from Nebraska he must win Omaha just like Obama did in 2008.

It always comes back to Obama who I will point out would never leave Americans aka his constituents stranded …I started seeing Facebook posts last night from my Omaha friends and sadly all I could muster was “what has Velvetta Voldemort done now?”

This was reckless, callous, and heartless.

  15. TheOriginalMia says:

Wow. I giggled last night when I heard the first reports. I mean…I don’t care. These people are supporting a man who wouldn’t associate with them if he didn’t have to and doesn’t really like them. He thinks they are beneath him. They’ll still queue up to vote for him in spite of his obvious lack of concern for their well-being.

    • Christin says:

It’s so obvious they would never be allowed in his presence unless there is something in it for him.

I truly do not understand how so many think he / his party understands or cares about their lives when there is current, significant evidence to the contrary.

    • portlandjan says:

My guess is that most of them already voted for him, and were lost causes even BEFORE the rally.

    • Emm says:

I talk with my husband about this all the time because our entire family are magas, and my FIL is the grand wizard maga of them all. I don’t understand how anyone can honestly believe that a man who has never had to do anything resembling a typical working class life, actually GAF about or understands them and they are the most die hard for him. I mean just your everyday things like grocery shopping, cleaning the kitchen counters, fixing the cabinet drawer, taking your car in for an oil change, picking up kids from sports or school, paying bills lol, putting kids to bed, making doctors appointments, doing yard work, actually raising children and everything that encompasses. I mean the man has absolutely no idea what a typical American life is like because he hasn’t lived one so how on earth do you think he knows about your hardships and what to do about them? He thought you needed an ID to buy groceries FFS. He can’t relate to any one of those people who would clearly give their own damn lives or the lives of their family members for him. It’s just something I will never comprehend.

      • H says:

They don’t care that Trump understands middle class problems because he’s “owning the libs” and making them (and their 401K) money. It’s all about the $ for most educated MAGAs.

      • olliesmom says:

Emm and H – both perfection.

  16. Insomniac says:

Just cackled like Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker and said “You get what you f–king deserve!” after reading this news. Every single person who got stranded in the cold is still gonna vote for him anyhow.

  17. Lightpurple says:

The taxpayers are going to be stuck with the bill for that fiasco and it won’t be cheap. I hope the state Democratic Party really amplifies this story and how much this cost the Omaha police department unexpectedly

  18. Enis says:

Nebraska is a split elector state based on the congressional districts. Trump is currently behind in the district Omaha is in.

    • lucy2 says:

Winning over the Omaha district would only give him one more electoral college vote, right? What an excellent use of his time…

  19. Sofia says:

Call me a cold blooded and heartless bitch but I can’t muster any sympathy for people who attend his rallies. Sorry.

    • BayTampaBay says:

“Call me a cold blooded and heartless bitch”

You are not alone. We are both card carrying members of the “cold blooded and heartless bitch” political club!

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

Schooch over on that couch, I’ll join you; I’m a card carrying member…joined in mid-Nov. 2016. (And I have coffee for now, and wine for later!)

    • Becks1 says:

      Co-sign.

    • ethy says:

Only people I feel bad for are reporters or any other that had to be there for their job.

    • lucy2 says:

Same for me. Not only do I not feel sorry for them, but I find it kind of hilarious, and a perfect metaphor for his whole administration. An unnecessary rally to boost his ego, a lot of nonsense word salad and racism and sexism, and then leave them worse than he found them. And they’ll still vote for him.

I do hope anyone who needed medical treatment is ok, but other than that, I hope they all had a long, cold, miserable night.

  20. Courtney B says:

My husband added that the only reason it was on the airfield and not the parking lot in the first place was so he could have Air Force One in the background. He’s all about optics. They could’ve set up the stage in the parking lot otherwise. Such an egomaniac.

    • Sankay says:

Optics and the fact that he can’t walk too far.

    • Roo says:

I read an article that said that it was also because the campaign is so low on funds that they can’t rent any arena space. The airport is the cheapest option. LOL

    • windyriver says:

Given the set up where those private terminals are, and the narrow road around the airport to get there, it’s a no brainer this was going to happen. Airport itself built between a lake and the river. I’ll bet it was damn cold.

I wondered why they didn’t rent an indoor space. Wasn’t sure if it was money, if they didn’t want someplace too big in case it wasn’t filled, or if he just didn’t plan to be there long enough to bother spending the extra time to get someplace else in the city (since he couldn’t even get his ass over to the parking lots).

    • olliesmom says:

And supposedly his campaign is out of money to pay any venue, so he’s having his rallies at airports.

His campaign wouldn’t be out of money if he and Brad hadn’t skimmed a little off the top.

  21. Chill says:

This is a metaphor for the Trump Administration and last 4 years.

  22. phaedra says:

“If they really wanted to get out of the cold, they’d make the effort to get out of the cold.” — Jared Kushner

  23. Chris says:

I feel crazy for saying this, but is he TRYING to kill off his followers? He did previously tell people to inject themselves with bleach.

  24. fluffy says:

    I REALLY DON”T CARE, DO U?

  25. Busyann says:

Nebraska splits its electoral votes like Maine, so if it comes down to a tie 269-269, there’s a chance the district including Omaha could go Blue, give Biden 1 point, and put him at the needed 270. Trump is trying to stop that. I’m scared, dont get me wrong, I feel like we’re so close to being free that Im almost panicked to even think Biden will win, but I kind of think he will and it’s not even going to be a tie.

Also, serious question, does Trump even want to win? He’s not desciplined, but in 2016 he knew how to shut up long enough to let the Comey damage tank Hillary. Its like now, he and the dumb people around him are purposefully not being quiet. Mark Meadows and Jared Kushner put their foot in their mouths this week bigly. Was that on purpose I wonder?

    • Esmom says:

You’d think they are trying to lose. And I think Trump himself would be fine with losing and get back to his grifty life except that he likes to win. By all typical metrics they are losing but unfortunately Trump seems impervious to consequences the way pretty much any other candidate would be. His supporters are dug in so insanely deeply.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

He won’t go back to his “grifty life”… he’ll be facing charges and the rape case. He is scared SH*TLESS about that.

    • aelione says:

I’m a long time lurker on this website, but I felt like I had to reply to this comment because there’s a significant thing that you all are missing. Trump definitely wants to win — HE WANTS TO WIN — losing is not an option for a narcissist, plus he knows that once he’s no longer President, he can be charged for his crimes (and prosecuted by the SDNY for his crimes there, which would not be forgivable by federal pardon because they are state charges). So, he wants to win… but now with the Supreme court finally locked in on his side, HE IS BANKING ON THE COURTS DECIDING THE ELECTION. The Republicans have known for decades that they will never win votes with their policies (that are majorly unpopular) so that is why they have been engaged in voter suppression tactics, gerrymandering and also in packing the courts with Republican nominees for the last 20 years in the state elections as well as national elections.

Most of the state courts and legislatures are Republican now due to gerrymandering and voter suppression — this is not by accident, this is by design. In addition, Mitch McConnell purposefully kept a ton of federal appointed judiciary positions open during the Obama years — preventing Obama from appointing those judges – so they could be appointed by a Republican President so that Republicans would control the end decision process in a contested election, among other key decisions. This is going to be like 2000 Bush vs Gore on steroids– even if Biden wins the popular vote by a landslide, I guarantee you there will be a contested election because shenaniagans will go down somewhere in a key district, and that decision will end up in front of either a State Supreme court or the Federal Supreme Court. This is why the Republicans were so rabid to get Amy Barrett in so close before the election — it’s not just about GLBT Rights and Abortion, it was about the election. They needed Trump-loyal judges on the Court in the majority so that when the decision is put before the Supreme Court, they will get a favorable decision. Remember that the popular vote doesn’t matter at all in our elections because of the Electoral College. Clinton won the popular vote in 2016 by 3 mil votes — which is a crazy huge margin! – but since she lost the electoral college due to less than 1,000 votes or something (can’t remember the exact amount) she lost the election. Gore lost by a crazy small number of votes in ONE DISTRICT as well, even though he had the popular vote. It’s still extremely possible that Trump will win, and he believes he will win, or he and his campaign would not be so cavalier. The only thing that will save us is voting in such extreme numbers that the gerrymandering set in place by the Republicans is overwhelmed and we are actually able to carry the electoral college without contest. This is how Obama managed to win.

So now, Trump doesn’t feel like he has to perform he cares about anyone, which is why there was this insane situation in Omaha. Soo… seriously get ready people. Like, have-a-go bag-and-safe-plan-ready ready. Because it’s very likely that we may see an attempted (hopefully attempted) coup on the part of Trump and his supporters. The thing I’m concerned about is… if we do have a coup situation, who will the military support?

  26. Izzy says:

Zero sympathy for any of them. He doesn’t care about any of us, he doesn’t care about life, health and safety. These people got exactly what they voted for. Elections have consequences. In the case of the 2016 election, death is one of those consequences.

  27. Deanne says:

They are a death cult who worship a lying sociopath. They have no problem with the way he cages children, promotes racism and encourages white supremacists to engage in violence on his behalf. They don’t care that 225,000 of their fellow Americans are dead because of his total failing to deal with the pandemic. I don’t care how old any of them are, they deserve exactly what they get. The thing is that none of them will care. They could have had an elderly family member freeze to death trying to find their care and would still lick Trump’s boots. They are pathetic.

  28. pixiestyx says:

He held 3 super spreader events yesterday. He was at the La Crosse County Fairgrounds in Wisconsin.

    • LightPurple says:

And his wife had one in Pennsylvania and his daughter had multiple superspreaders in Florida.

    • Esmom says:

Yeah, he went to Lansing, next to where one of my kids goes to school. I was surprised he’d go to the same city as “that woman from Michigan,” Gov Whitmer. And my son was scared to look at footage and see people he suspects to be Trump supporters.

      • Rapunzel says:

Esmom- i read that at that rally, he was casting doubt on whether anyone really tried to kidnap Whitmer. Disgusting.

      • whatWHAT? says:

Rapunzel, and in the same breath, he talks about how appreciative she should be that HE PERSONALLY stopped the kidnapping plot.

and his deplorable cult base doesn’t bat an eye.

      • Joanna says:

Dang, it gets cold up there! My mom had a work assignment in Saginaw and I went to visit her. It was so freaking cold

    • Swack says:

      And there are more today.

    • Betsy says:

Gaahhhhd I’ve got (non Trumper) family in La Crosse, people I really love, and La Crosse already had an enormous surge there a few weeks or months ago.

  29. Tiffany says:

    So.

    And?

  30. AmyB says:

    “Vanquish the vaccine” LMAO

    He really is fucking stupid!!!

  31. Ann says:

Good. Whatever discomfort those idiots felt is what they deserve for going to a packed Klan rally during a pandemic to shout racist shit at another shitty racist. I have no sympathy for any of them.

  32. Juxtapoze says:

This story sums up Trump’s presidency – Trump is full of lies & empty promises, his incompetent staff attempts shoddy organization, there are zero plans for the future, and they ends up leaving people out in the cold to fend for themselves. Welcome to Trump’s America!
    #voteBLUE #BidenHarris2020

  33. KC says:

Hi! I don’t normally comment, but Nebraska’s second congressional district does get an electoral vote independent of the rest of the state. I am living in Omaha right now, and there are Biden signs everywhere. I understand why the president stopped here. Biden is ahead in the polls in this district and it’s pretty exciting!

    • Esmom says:

That is exciting. I hope you guys deliver for Biden!

    • molly says:

I’m in Omaha too, and it was bitter cold last night. (And this morning, but bring on the 50s this afternoon!)

The signs have been really interesting around here, at least in the suburbs. Plenty of Don Bacon signs, which I’m reading as Trump voters with enough shame not to actually put up the Trump sign. I’d love to flip NE-2 back blue, so we’ll see if we can do it.

    • Kjodz says:

I live in Lincoln NE and there are Biden signs everywhere. My husband and I have two proudly displayed in our yard and have gotten so many compliments from our neighbors.

    • ChillyWilly says:

That’s awesome to hear, KC! 👍

  34. Caroline says:

I live in Omaha, NE and it was freezing cold here – we just had a snowstorm Sunday night into Monday morning. With our COVID numbers in the city, this is guaranteed to become a superspreader event. People are just so stupid, an unfortunately the list of stupid includes some of my friends that went to this event.

    • Christin says:

Stay safe. I am sorry the super-spreader tour came to your area. No doubt people in the crowd will further seed the virus when they get home.

    • windyriver says:

I’m not in NE, but my sister is a healthcare worker affiliated with the Med Center. She says their ER is already seriously overcrowded, just for general reasons. This rally and the likely Covid cases that will result was the last thing they needed.

      Likewise, stay safe!

      • Christin says:

My heart goes out to your sister and all workers who have to face this virus daily.

      • Liz version 700 says:

There will never be enough done to say sorry to the health care workers that Trump has put in harms way over and over again.

      • windyriver says:

Very kind of you to say so. And my feelings exactly towards all of the other healthcare workers out there.

My sister is part of a gerontology practice; the majority of the older people that make up their patient population (hopefully not including any of the ones from last night) have been taking advice and staying inside. So overall she hasn’t been exposed to too many known Covid patients. However, the flip side is, significant numbers of these patients are suffering from loneliness and depression, because of the isolation required to stay safe, and a lot of her time is spent working with these issues. As winter sets in, this is likely to get worse.

  35. Mabs A'Mabbin says:

Good. His words…… Stranded supporters….. The sooner the burial…..

  36. Hope Rutten says:

Fresh out of sympathy for those folks.

1). They are CHOOSING to support the moron despite all logical reason.

2). They CHOSE to not only attend a Nazi rally but to attend during a pandemic that this moron mishandled on every level.

Leave them out there to get themselves out of a situation of their own creation. If any children were dragged along – pick them up – but every adult chose to be in that situation.

Maybe after a cup of coffee and a bagel I’ll feel more generous in spirit but after these last four years the well is running dry.

  37. Sayrah says:

“Get your husbands back to work?” I guess so we can eat ice cream and watch soaps in peace in between our household chores? God he’s such an asshole.

  38. HK9 says:

They deserved to be stranded-every damned step.

  39. Nic919 says:

Blaire Erskine has a funny video about this.

If you are elderly and going to a crowded outdoor rally with temperatures below freezing then you are an idiot. And add the fact that is for that monster… yeah that’s on them.

    • TeamMeg says:

Blaire’s very funny video is how I found out this Omaha stranding event happened. Glad to see it being covered here, too.

  40. Sarah says:

The exclamation mark on the screen in the header pic. My god. Does he/whoever runs his Twitter also write the stuff that goes on those screens? I know in the overall scope of the horror that surrounds this piece of filth this is microscopic but it also feels symbolic of how there are zero professionals who know what they’re doing anywhere near him.

As for the rest of this story, this is totally on brand for him. He really doesn’t care either, they just don’t do that coat in his size.

  41. Kateeee says:

“Trump leaves supporters stranded” is the tagline for his entire presidency.* Yet all those good little Republicans, they continue to vote for him against their own interests. I’ll never understand.

    * Let’s be real. His entire life.

  42. Jezebel's Lacefront says:

I honestly don’t care. When you dance with the Devil, you cannot complain about the burns, or in this case, freezer burns.

  43. manda says:

If I thought that the majority of those people had empathy or sympathy for other people in dangerous, unsafe, etc. situations, then I would for them. But I doubt they do. Some people up above commented that these people are all fine with babies in cages and hateful rhetoric. So, eff ’em. Hopefully some of those old people haven’t voted yet and won’t be able to get to the polls. Sorry not sorry

I thought he was going to paint AF One a different color?

His supporters will blame someone else, not trump for this. He left them frozen to a Nebraska highway with a 3 mile walk back, if anything to me that proves he doesn’t like them all that much. Many of them had to go to the ER, but they’ll vote for him anyway, frozen toes and all.

I heard that the bus company wasn’t paid so that’s why they didn’t go back for the morons. Not surprising, same thing happened in DC a year ago. They (women for trump) didn’t pay for the buses either, and they blamed the liberals instead of the credit card that didn’t work. They fail to understand that in this country you have to pay for things like buses to run. If buses ran for free that would be socialism and trump supporters don’t like socialism.

  46. Jay says:

Such a perfect encapsulation of his entire worldview: preying on gullible people with promises of success, taking their money/votes, and then leaving the ensuing for chaos for the government to clean up on their dime. He’s a conman, sure, but he’s also really bad at it.

  47. Liz version 700 says:

Why is he even going to Nebraska? This is not a swing state or a key state? Why did he have a rally in the freezing cold in Nebraska? It had to be for his ego fix, which makes the suffering of his followers even more disgusting. Open your eyes Omaha your Emperor has no clothes and cares not a whit for you.

    • molly says:

Nebraska splits electoral college votes. We have three congressional districts and five total votes. NE-2 is Omaha, which is purple, and very much in play. A few maps have Trump needing that vote to win.

      • molly says:

Oh, and we’re across the river from Iowa. The airport is literally right next to Council Bluffs, so it was really two states in one.
(That said, I feel not one bit sad for those morons who froze their faces off last night. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.)

      • Liz version 700 says:

Got it thanks! But seriously no way would I freeze my butt off to see anyone. No sympathy at all except for the kids dragged out there.

      • Liz version 700 says:

Ahh got it thanks. Jeez no one is worth being treated like this.

  48. Renee says:

Sorry but no sympathy from me for his supporters that were left stranded. If you are his supporter, he already left you stranded since 2016. Nothing new here……

  49. Traveler says:

I haven’t read all the comments so I’m sure I’m not saying anything new here but anyway……………….First of all, how utterly discouraging that there were thousands that attended and, secondly, this is a metaphor for his entire presidency.
How low must your self-esteem be to accept this type of treatment and actually support it?

  50. yinyang says:

I don’t care about Trump. Kamala and Joe need to be everywhere right now, the only thing Trump has over Biden is the recognition that comes with being a president for 4 years and his acting career. I am not leaving anything to chance like last election when Trump won from left field. Biden and Kamala need to be everywhere this last week. Please post more articles on Biden and Harris thank you!

  51. Valerie says:

    And still they adore him.

  52. Aimee says:

If you are an “elderly” person going to one of these stupid rallies then you deserve what you get.

  53. Diamond Rottweiler says:

District 2, where Omaha is, went for Obama in 2008, I believe. Because it’s been trending bluer and bluer, Republicans gerrymandered the shit out of district 2, adding a huge swath of rural Sarpy County, to try to keep that electoral vote. Omaha is like what NYC is to rural New York. If you’re from “the city,” the rest of the state doesn’t think you’re actually a Nebraskan. Lol. It’s actually a pretty great city—educated above average, a strong local economy, arts, restaurants, music venues, and beautiful architecture the preservation society fought to the death to keep from being bulldozed in the late 70s. I’ll be so thrilled if Omaha gives Grandpa Racist the finger this Election Day.

    • Chris says:

It probably will because trump killed or maimed off all of his voters there after this rally. Apparently he’s done something similar to this in NC.

  54. ChillyWilly says:

This is just so funny to me. The campaign probably didn’t want to pay for shuttles back to their cars because Trump has pocketed all the campaign money. You got what you deserve, Magats! This man doesn’t give two craps if you live or die, but keep on risking your lives to see him, ya morons.

  55. olliesmom says:

They will do anything for their leader. Even die for him from either Covid or hypothermia. And he doesn’t give a damn about any of them.

And all of these stupid flags. How much do those cost and what are they going to do with them when he loses by a landslide in disgrace? Burn them? Or will they still fly them proudly?

  56. FF says:

So nice of him to unnecessarily tie up health care and emergency workers during a pandemic, with totally avoidable cluster****ery.

  57. holly hobby says:

Thoughts and prayers! He got your vote and now he doesn’t care if you live or die. Truth!

  58. Guest with Cat says:

So, do Republicans for Trump have low self esteem? Suicidal tendencies? WTF would anyone go freeze their asses off for anybody, let alone this ass?

Say for the sake of argument I actually liked this orange fungus, I still wouldn’t haul my butt out of a warm house to stand out in the dark and freezing cold to listen to him. I would just sit and binge watch Apprentice and fill out my ballot and drop it in the drop box in town.

It’s not like going to a concert. You’re going out there to watch a man babble about vanquishing vaccines. What does that even mean?

I am all for Biden Harris and I am voting for them tomorrow. But even for someone who, Lord willing, will be our first woman VP, I am sorry but I am not going into the freezing cold to hear her speak during a damned pandemic. And the best part is, I know Joe and Kamala wouldn’t want that for me. Because they’ve got empathy and concern and don’t want me to die. I feel so sorry for them for the messes they’re going to have to clean up when they take office.

If I were inclined to conspiracies, I would have to wonder if Trump is part of a conspiracy to kill off the kinds of people who make up his base. Otherwise I can’t see why a genuine leader who wants to do good by the people who look up to him would promote the kind of behavior likely to get them killed.

  59. Caty Page says:

I never thought I’d be this person. But I literally hope all the adults present die of hypothermia before they can vote. I post with my real name, so that’s an intense statement to choose to stand by.

But all of the adults in the crowd know who he is and what he stands for. I’m Brown. They are actively saying my life doesn’t matter, my safety doesn’t matter, my humanity isn’t real. I am objectively less safe because of them. So they can all go off to wherever it is Nazis go when they die.

    • Joanna says:

Girl, they are fucking POS! I live in a Trump area and I can’t stand them. I just want to let you know that there are white people who will stand by you. I’m white, I’ll stand with you and so will others. I’m not gonna stand with the racists. I was married to a mixed man, I saw what he went through, many more mixed relationships and families now than ever before. The world is changing and we’re not gonna go backwards.

  60. Ohlala says:

    Karma

  61. Lizzie says:

Only evil people plan to attend a super spreader event, don’t care what happens to them since they don’t care to whom they spread this plague.
Thank you God, my family are people who care if others live or die. I am truly fortunate.

  62. BountyHunter says:

I live in Michigan. I taught public school in Grand Rapids for years. Now I work at a library in th U.P. Which is that much closer to the Canadian border in case this asstwat gets re-elected. Fuck. He is Chucky in “Child’s Play,” but less intelligent.

  63. Alex says:

Wow- really vile comments! I’m not a Trump fan but yikes!

  64. Kristin says:

Am I a massive asshole for seriously not giving a shit that any of these douchenozzles had to walk several miles in the freezing cold after their savior abandoned them? How’s the saying go, “you get what you pay for??”
