There have been several moments this year where I’ve realized that too many of you ladies have been inside too long. Getting hot for the Grinch? Ladies, come on. Calling Bernie Sanders “daddy”? Please stop. But there’s nothing like the online thirst for Tyler Perry. It came on rather suddenly, as people had been working from home for months and suddenly Perry posted a couple of photos of his weight loss and women were sliding into his mentions. As it turns out, Perry is single now – he split up with Gelila Bekele, who was his longtime partner and mother of his son Aman (who is six years old). He posted something on social media bout how he’s “51, single and wondering what the next chapter in my life will look like.” People Mag had the confirmation of the split:

Tyler Perry revealed he’s celebrating the holiday season as a single man. The entertainment mogul — who started dating model and activist Gelila Bekele after her meeting at a Prince concert in 2007 — shared on Instagram Wednesday, “I’m 51, single and wondering what the next chapter in my life will look like.”

A source tells PEOPLE Perry and Bekele, 34, “amicably split some time ago and remain close friends.”

“Their focus is on being the best parents they can for their son,” the insider adds.

The duo welcomed a son, Aman Tyler, together in December 2014. “There’s no other person on this planet that I would want to be involved with or have a child with because she’s amazing,” the Madea creator told PEOPLE in 2017, adding that he learned about Bekele’s pregnancy over FaceTime.

Despite captioning the new mirror selfie, “This is what a midlife crisis looks like,” Perry expressed optimism for what comes next. “Whatever it looks like I’m going to walk with God, be the best father and man I can be, hold my head up high, and try to look my best doing it!!” he continued on Instagram Wednesday. “In a world with so much sadness, please try and stay in the good! Merry Christmas and let’s look forward to 2021 bringing us peace!”

This is sad to me! Tyler and Gelila were such a lowkey couple, and they were together for long. So, Tyler Perry is single for the first time in more than a decade, and I really doubt he’s in a place where he wants to start dating again, but that didn’t stop all of the thirsty ladies from sliding into his mentions on social media. There were women posting photos of themselves and asking him to DM. Ladies, are you serious??? I mean, he’s rich as hell, I get that. But he’s still Madea!!
