Hilary Duff claims she got an eye infection from too many Covid tests. Which… doesn’t make any sense, but sure. [Buzzfeed]

I have had a test and unless her tests are different there is no way it would affect your eyes. edited for typo

  2. Coco says:

A friend of mine whose whole family caught COVID for Christmas said they don’t have confirmation on her youngest child who was screaming and struggling too much when the nurse tried to administer the test. Maybe Hillary Duff squirms around like a five year old and the swab stuck her eye.

  3. Case says:

I saw her post this on Insta this morning and have no idea what she’s talking about.

I developed blisters on my eye during a covid infection. I became convinced a hair or something was in my eye then on closer inspection of my eye saw these tiny raised blisters. I’m on a blog called Covid long haulers and eye infections/issues are mentioned frequently

    • kimberlu says:

I’ve gotten those bumps before, so frusterating

    • Charlie says:

I’m so sorry to hear you’re a long hauler. As someone who is disabled I know the impact of the many long-term effects of infection that are going to stay with us. I hate that the buzzfeed headline for this story, “Thanks To Hilary Duff, Now I’m Wondering If You Can Get An Eye Infection From Many COVID-19 Tests” is going to put people off testing and vaccinating. While buzzfeed is getting dragged for that headline, they’re not backing down from it – which is so uncool…

    • GuestwithCat says:

I had this, too. I don’t know for certain that I had Covid because there was absolutely no testing available at the time. My daughter and I had mostly the weird symptoms and didn’t have bad coughing and loss of taste and smell.

But we both are still having irregular heartbeats. My daughter has to go in for an appointment with a cardiologist. That’s next in the list we have for her appointments.

    • Chanteloup says:

I’m so sorry for all you battling covid and the long-term symptoms Sending healing love

    • Jess says:

I’m in healthcare and eye issues are definitely common with covid, but not commonly discussed! Covid eyes get this certain watery redness to them, it’s very strange. I’m sorry you’re still dealing with it:(

    • Tiffany :) says:

It sounds like COVID itself can cause eye issues, but not the test.

  5. KHJ says:

    Hilary…sweetie…you’re an idiot.

She’s also the reason the Lizzie McGuire reboot got canned. Her ego is stuck in 2004.

    • Riley says:

If by her being the reason you mean her pushing for Lizzie’s character to be more authentic to a woman in her early 30s and less of a early 2000s tween, then yes, it is her fault it’s not going forward.

  6. Other Renee says:

I’ve had six tests (all negative) and no eye infection. (My husband is a nurse so if I get a sore throat or cough, I go running for a test so I don’t infect him and he then he doesn’t infect his frail and elderly patients). My daughter has had about 20 (required due to her job). Also no eye infections. They make you stick the swab up your own nose here. I did bleed a bit on one test but it had been dry here and it wasn’t my first nose bleed anyway. I have no idea what she’s talking about.

Right? How do you type “other mothers feel me?” while on what looks like a private jet?

  8. Implicit says:

I am so so tired of seeing these blonde white women flexing their privilege as some sort of victimhood meanwhile people can’t even get tests that need them #Whatever #LifeIsHard

    • Elizabeth says:

Same! It’s really highlighted the disparity and degradation of those in poverty. (I currently am unemployed and don’t have health insurance and the Medicaid and unemployment systems are insane to deal with. I never realized we offer people so little when they are at their lowest point and need help the most.)

  9. Chanteloup says:

That Tanya Roberts link clearly says she has NOT died – ?
    Bless poor Tanya

  10. Chanteloup says:

Surprised the leader of the #poorboys got arrested. Seems to good to be true!

  11. Va Va Kaboom says:

I kind of adore the new Alexander McQueen collection. And to keep it on brand, Kate is totally going to buy a version of the first coat dress pictured. The pleating reminds me strongly of the white McQueen coat dress, which I love, she wore to 2012 Order of the Garter. It was one of her best outfits IMO.

    • Dee says:

My question is how will Kate ruin one of the Sarah Burton outfits by making it “bespoke” and sucking all the edginess out of it. Probably add some beige netting and a couple hundred buttons.

      • Va Va Kaboom says:

Yes. No doubt she will strip every bit of edginess from the design. I don’t know if I agree with “ruin” but I absolutely see your point.

I think the skirt pleats will be smaller and those Anne Shirley puff sleeves will be more traditional coat sleeves.

  12. Jess says:

I get sick to my stomach when actors and athletes talk about how often they get tested, while I’ve been tested 3 times in 10 months, even though I swab hundreds of patients a week and I’m in close contact with positive patients constantly. This country is so fked up on priorities.

    • Chanteloup says:

Yes it is. Thank you for all you do [you can never hear that enough]

    • Grace says:

You are right about that. Our priorities here in the US are completely upside down. So many “essential workers” can’t easily get tests, while celebrities and COVID deniers are tested non-stop and also step to the front of the line for a vaccine. I am so “over” it.

    • Green Desert says:

You tell no lies, Jess. Thank you for being a frontline worker!

    • Lex says:

I cant comment on your actual workers not getting tests (that’s not the case where I live) but she’s back filming her show in NYC and she is pregnant. She can have as many tests as she needs…..

      • jwoolman says:

Obviously she has decided it’s worth the risk, but I wish she wasn’t taking such chances while pregnant. She might have mild COVID now and that might be the source of the eye infections.

The tests she is likely getting are not that accurate and it is a major mistake to assume you are virus-free based on getting them. She could have a viral load under the detection limit but enough to be a problem for the baby or herself eventually. We just do not know enough about the damage that can be caused by this virus long-term even for people with mild cases.

The BRF fucking sucks. Let’s kick off a new year by revealing that Brenda is a petty hag who gets her jollies by snubbing her veteran grandson on a day that’s meant to honor veterans.

  14. HeatherC says:

I get COVID-19 swabs every week for work since May 2020. I have never gotten an eye infection.

  15. SofiasSideEye says:

I mean, she could stay her ass at home and not need so many tests. But, because it’s Covid that causes the eye issue, well… 🤷🏻‍♀️

  16. LeonsMomma says:

I like the Alexander McQueen! It is better than the Gunnie Sax rip offs that Gucci is doing.

  17. Ange says:

Ooh big rumblings about Kim and Kanye…

  18. Alexandria says:

I was in swab operations. Workers in certain industries in my country have to be swabbed every two weeks, or they cannot be allowed to work. So we see repeated faces and they’ve been swabbed at least 14 times and it’s ongoing. We’ve not heard of this side effect from swabbing. Side effect of COVID-19 infection is more plausible.
