  1. Mignionette says:

These idiot grifters really felt they deserved a second term just like every other real president.

I bet they feel humiliated by their fathers complete failure bc they know it does not bode well for their nurture attempts to get into office.

  2. GuestwithCat says:

Ugh It is hideous Its picture is right over the wonderful Senator Elect Warnock’s photo. That only highlights Its shortcomings. It is giving me severe indigestion that our hard earned tax money goes to the protection and maintenance of It.

I hope all government buildings and The White House will be thoroughly fumigated of Its nasty presence. Inauguration Day can not come soon enough.

  3. Boo says:

Can anyone explain what he means by ‘primaried’?

    • Miranda says:

He means Republicans who oppose his daddy now won’t make it past their primaries next election, and will essentially be replaced by candidates who support him.

      • Carol says:

Ivana must be very proud that she raised 2 complete morons. Ivanka is smarter than her brothers but is simply an a**hole.

    • schmootc says:

It means they’ll put up their Republican cronies against incumbent Republicans during the primary, the initial stage of an election. It’s the party fighting it out about who they want to put forward during the main election against Democrats.

    • Stacy Dresden says:

Eric is suggesting they will fund a same-party opponent who is a Trump sycophant to try to unseat the ones who don’t participate in the coup in their next Republican primary election.

      • jwoolman says:

The Trumps may be too irrelevant and toxic politically, not to mention short on assets and donors, to do much harm in the 2022 and 2024 elections.

The attempted coup for one thing went from stupid to repulsive pretty fast today. I think it was the last straw for a lot of Republicans. It was pretty horrifying for the Members of Congress caught in the attack and also for the rest of the world watching. The game got real fast. And many of the Republicans are quite clear that Trump incited the riots and the attack on the Capitol and the members of Congress inside. He gathered the rally, spent many weeks revving them up, and lit the flame.

They’re lucky that COVID rules limited how many could be on the floor at once, so most were viewing it remotely. Of course, if they were in their offices, they were caught up in it also because the yahoos went scurrying around to mess around with those.

Trump may not even be President by now. Pence is the one who okayed help from the National Guards, not Trump. Either Donald is curled up in a fetal position in the bunker or Pence has started the 25th Amendment process to relieve Trump of duty. There may even be enough disgusted Republicans to try for a quickie impeachment and removal. Or maybe the mere threat of all this was enough to keep Trump uncharacteristically subdued.

The authorities arrested so few people it was ridiculous. But loads of video and photos and even tweets for the FBI to use to track them down. Might take a couple of weeks before the FBI can do much…. But their state governments are looking closely at them because they left the states with criminal intent. Last I heard, they were threatening governors and state buildings as well.

They can be charged with much more than trespass once we get a sane government in place again. These were not nonviolent protesters who walked into the place and did not threaten police who came to arrest them. They resisted arrest. They broke glass to come through doors and windows. They scaled buildings. They grubbed up the whole place and messed around in offices and the House and Senate chambers. They physically threatened our elected members of Congress. They were maskless, so they could have spread COVID with wild abandon also. And they took stuff from desks and drawers. Thankfully the boxes with the state certifications in them were grabbed by the proper people in the Senate as they had to run to safety. The VP had to be scuttled off by Secret Service.

Even Twitter suspended Trump’s account temporarily for 12 hours. They expanded their usual caveat about the fraud accusations being disputed to say his stuff could not be liked or retweeted or replied to for the duration. Gentle slap on the hand, but a start. I think he offended the Facebook gods enough to get penalized there also.

  4. guilty pleasures says:

I am sorry,I have nothing even remotely nice to say. This man was beaten hard with the ugly stick, from the inside out. Go away. Go far, far away from all that is decent.

  5. Athyrmose says:

Dee Barnes suffers from migraines every day, still, because of Dre’s assault. So, I don’t hate that he’s had an aneurysm. 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • Lee802 says:

Having an aneurism is not really an issue. If they found the he aneurism he is fine and can be cured with surgery. It’s when the aneurysm bursts so when the problem starts because you then have a brain bleed or stroke due to oxygen not reaching the brain. He should be fine. Although I wouldn’t be mad if he did have a stroke, you know karma and all. Would be ironic to have ammassed so much money and power and then be rendered disabled and unable to enjoy it. 😳who am I kidding I’m sure he has enjoyed a lot at the expense of many others suffering so….

    • Elizabeth says:

Frankly the fact he got away with beating on a woman and made giant bank from “Beats by Dre” headphones makes me despise him. Women aren’t safe in a society that tolerates this and even glorifies him and makes every excuse in the book. Violence is not the answer.

  6. Becks1 says:

Does anyone listen to Eric Trump anymore? Did they ever? I feel like Ivanka and Donald Jr appeal to some of the Magats, but did they ever listen to or care about Eric?

    • Andrea says:

If you watched the Apprentice, which I am ashamed that I did, he always seemed like the filler child when Ivanka or Don Jr were busy.

If anyone read the nieces book, it provides excellent insight on why these children are the way they are based on how Trump was raised by his sociopathic father. They also are beholden to their father for money because they were left little by their grandfather. So they will preach to the rooftops even if they don’t believe it because they are dependent on Trump financially.

      • lucy2 says:

I listened to a long interview with the niece, and it was very interesting. It’s just a damn shame they turned their abuse out onto the country and world, instead of each other.

      • Eleonora says:

        Yes, the filler child, lol

      • Becks1 says:

LOL at “filler child” – and I admit I did watch the Apprentice, but I think I only saw a few episodes with Ivanka (when she was the sub for Carolyn) – before she became a FT fixture. (I think I saw the first two seasons.)

  7. Veronica S. says:

I’m enjoying the sweet taste of this victory for now before we get pushed into the realities of what likely won’t get done that should. Time to start really focusing on those coalitions at the state level. Abrams is showing you the way – you have to build from the bottom to build up. If we do nothing else, I’m praying at least DC and Puerto Rico get statehood. It’s long overdue, and this presidency highlighted the danger of DC residents not having state rights protections.

  8. K says:

Is anyone else extremely nervous? I am really unsettled…thrilled about GA but nervous about Washington DC

    • Becks1 says:

We’re watching it on MSNBC now and I just keep thinking….if these were BLM protestors…..

      • ATLMathMom says:

Yes, why isn’t tear gas being deployed on these protesters who are drawing guns on lawmakers??

    • Veronica S. says:

It’s almost like feeding people endless propaganda that feeds on fear, terror, and a sense of helplessness during a time of economic and civil upheaval is actually really dangerous because then they actually do think democracy that doesn’t go their way is real oppression. DC needs to be given statehood ASAP. The situation is too fraught for its residents to go unprotected by in the future, not with so much anger aimed at the capital.

  9. nettie says:

He has the most punchable face. It will be so nice to see them all become irrelevant.

  10. GuestwithCat says:

The Capitol has actually been invaded. I can’t believe my eyes. BLM does protests and people in wheelchairs get beaten. But these racist traitors waltz right into the Capitol unchallenged and take selfies and stop our constitutional peaceful transfer of power.

    • LBB says:

THIS IS INSANE! What have we become…… I am speechless.

      • HoofRat says:

Where are the unmarked vans now? Or do they only show up for lawful, peaceful protestors? Any Rethuglican who doesn’t publically and forcefully condemn this is complicit and needs to be dealt with accordingly. This scene both blows my mind and breaks my heart.

      • Desdemona says:

@Hoofrat, they only show up for black people, immigrants,, women, environmentalists etc.. Sorry 🙁

      • Tiffany says:

        Become…..

This was always what y’all were.

I mean, you only pick up on certain parts of history.

    • Miranda says:

What truly terrifies me is that I’m pretty sure that an appalling number of the police who should be controlling these ACTUAL VIOLENT RACISTS WHO GENUINELY HATE EVERYTHING AMERICA CLAIMS TO STAND FOR probably don’t disagree with them. I’ll bet that whatever “control” IS taking place, is accompanied by an awful lot of “right this way, sir. Awfully sorry about this. Yes, yes, MAGA to you too, sir!”

Everyone who actually lives in D.C., stay safe. Goddamn…

      • Traveler says:

I have heard some police are taking selfies with rioters

      • Miranda says:

@Traveler …I really, really want to be shocked by that. Instead, I had to say to myself, “yep, sounds about right.” I can’t wait to see those racist pieces of shit post those selfies to social media and receive absolutely NO official retribution.

  11. Coco says:

I’m so anxious right now. I don’t know what will happen unless the 25th Amendment is invoked as soon as possible.

  12. Angie says:

I’m sick. What the hell is happening.

  13. Ohlala says:

Omg! It is shocking. Non American here. But what I think this will be the end of GOP as we knew it. They killed themselves by supporting and picking Trump. Mistake big big mistake. Oh and every republican c…t that did not vote for impeachment is probably hiding now on Capitol fearing for life.

  14. Holly hobby says:

Where are the Marshals and the National Guard? They need to round up all those traitors and haul them to jail. For any GOPer Congress person who still supports this they are pathetic. He unleashed the mob on them too.

Also some GOPer operatives are pissed about Georgia. They said that orange traitor ruined the party. So yeah, Gums McGee, I’m sure you’ll have people following you to primary someone🙄

    • Digital Unicorn says:

I read on twitter that an initial request from the DC police for National Guard assistance was refused but suddenly they are being deployed on Trumps orders.

Make no mistake he KNEW this was going to happen, why to you think his message was pre-recorded. Apparently the WH is empty. He’ll be golfing tomorrow.

This is just the beginning – once night falls and the NG show up its going to be a blood bath.

I guess this is the repayment to Trump for his pardons to Erik Princes ‘soldiers’. His militia is behind this as there is no way the rednecks would have gotten this far into the buildings as they have without professional help.

This is Trumps coup and civil war – the one that he’s been telling us for weeks will happen.

      • Sula says:

Yes! And people like Prince need to be prosecuted and jailed. ASAP. A woman seems to have been wounded from a shot. Even if noone dies in this act of domestic terrorism, instigators, participants and gang leaders need to be punished accordingly.

      • Lanie says:

Yup. This was definitely an inside job.

      • heygingersnaps says:

It was Pence who ordered the National Guard, dump has been missing in action and out of the loop since he poured more gasoline to the fire.
The woman who died was part of those who stormed in and broke through the barrier.
The inaction of the Capitol Police, FBI, national guard is damning, they are either incompetent or complicit.

      • Miranda says:

If the woman who died was, indeed, a pro-Trump moron, well, she literally chose the stupidest possible Hill to die on.

  15. Margot says:

    This is America.

    • Lady D says:

Maybe now, but I grew up next to this country for 60 years. This is not the America I knew. I don’t recognize this America.

    • Anna says:

This has always been Amerikkka. No surprise. And all this media asking where was the police presence, wa-wa about the “failure”–it wasn’t a failure. The police were in league with the white supremacist terrorists. There is clear documentation of them not only taking selfies with them inside but also stepping back and guiding them past barricades to gain access to the interior. Representatives are speaking now on MSNBC about how they no longer feel safe or protected by the Capitol police. No one came to check on them as they huddled in their offices, texting their loved ones to say goodbye. This fucking country.

      • EllenOlenska says:

And if everyone had been asking tougher questions back in 2016 and not treating the election like a reality show we may not have ever had this buffoon in office. I will call out every “ journalist” who tosses softballs and doesn’t demand follow up when a tough question isn’t answered. This isn’t infotainment.

  16. Lady D says:

Please, pretty please tell me this is over and there is nothing stopping Biden from being President. Seriously I’m ready to cry watching what is happening right now in Washington. Pence is in an undisclosed location? Trump will never be thought of a president again.

    • Darla says:

Nothing will stop Biden from becoming President.

    • jwoolman says:

Biden has been confirmed by Congress to become the next President, they accepted the tally of the electoral votes and he will be inaugurated Jan. 20th.

Congress reconvened at 8pm Weds Jan 6. they all marched in a narrow line flanked by armed guards in riot gear, probably through the tunnel underneath the building, and the boxes of state certifications were with them.

This time they gave short shrift to the objectors, I think they might have quickly finished with Ted Cruz’s whining about Arizona (he had started when the attack happened) and the crazy guy insisted on complaining a bit about Pennsylvania, but Republicans dropped the matter or made a general statement about the others. The original idea actually was to give all 14 of them up to 2 hours to present their objections and vote each time on it, but most people were no longer in the mood for any of this and it was late at night.

I don’t know what else they discussed. There is apparently a way for Congress to form the required body to apply the 25th Amendment and replace Trump with Pence for the next two weeks. Don’t know if Pence can convince the usual first resort (the Cabinet) for this task.

But some House Dems are drawing up articles of impeachment for Trump. It would be nice to get him formally removed before Jan. 20 but I don’t know if it can be done fast enough (even though he is obviously acting batshit crazy and is a danger to them all) or if there are enough Republicans who will vote for removal this time. Maybe, this whole thing scared the hell out of them.

  17. Bibliomommy96 says:

I am ashamed to be an American . This is a sad sad day

    • Lady D says:

Please don’t be. You did the right thing, over and over again. This is not on any of you, and if it helps, the whole world is collectively blaming one person for today. We all know who is responsible.
      Stay safe.

  18. tempest prognosticator says:

What the hell? DC is an Hieronymus Bosch hellscape.

  19. grabbyhands says:

Wait, I had it on good authority that we shouldn’t be calling it a coup attempt and that the rule of law was going to win the day. Someone should probably tell the domestic terrorists that stormed the Capitol building with little opposition.

Weird how we need the national guard out to club and gas BLM protestors, but its crickets when heavily armed white people force their way into a government building.

    • Traveler says:

      Exactly.
BLM participants were deemed terrorists, looters, rioters but these armed thugs, crashing their way into the capitol are innocent protestors. We are falling off a cliff.

    • Coco says:

When you get a chance, please contact your Senators and Representative to say you want statehood for DC and Puerto Rico.

  20. Desdemona says:

Someone has been shot in the Capitol? Wow.. Never thought I’d see all this in a country like the USA.
Fellow sensible Americans, stay safe… Hope this will turn out alright at the end.
    Love from Europe!!

    • cassandra says:

I learned today that a group of Puerto Rican nationalists shot 5 congressmen in 1954, so I guess it’s not the first time.

Certainly the first time it’s been over run by a mob?

Why wasn’t the National Guard there in the first place?

I am horrified and frozen in place in front of the tv right now.

      • ATLMathMom says:

Since DC is not a state, they do not have their own National Guard, as states control their own National Guards. DC’s requests for National Guard have to go through the Pentagon, and they are still “considering” the requests from the mayor of DC and Nancy Pelosi. As a result, the governor of Virginia is sending Virginia National Guard and VA state troopers to help.

I am horrified to be American right now.

      • jwoolman says:

And in 1954, they got long sentences for it. I think one woman got 49 years in a federal prison.

  21. Veronica S. says:

More police support is arriving in riot gear as of 3:30PM ET, firearms have been drawn and fired, and tear gas is appearing. There are also calls for the National Guard and the mayor has declared curfew. But isn’t it telling that they didn’t already have that extra support on hand expecting something like this to happen, eh?

Edit: The DC National Guard has now been mobilized.

The silver lining to any of this is that it finally may be scaring legislators into taking the threat of misinformation seriously and emphasizes the need to push for DC statehood. These residents should not be at the mercy of external forces without state rights.

Edit 2: CNN anchor Abby Phillip is stating out loud the difference in the response preparation between BLM And this seditious riot. Good, somebody needed to say it live.

    • LBB says:

MSNBC also pointed the hypocrisy several times.

    • windyriver says:

I’m sorry to hear the woman shot inside the Capitol has died. It’s a miracle there weren’t more serious injuries. I hope the worst of this is over.

But – I’m glad it, unfortunately, got to this. It’s been obvious this was a real possibility. Now maybe Congress has a taste of reality, after cowering on the ground between seats in the Senate chamber. They though they were safe and protected in their little bubble, that Federal troops faced off against protestors in American cities had nothing to do with them, that they could abdicate their responsibilities and countenance weeks upon weeks of lies, disinformation and threats, for their own political purposes. Screw you Mitch, and your cadre of dimwits and demons. And thank you again, Georgia.

  22. Mimi says:

This is insane. This is trump’s America

  23. Traveler says:

Is it FINALLY time to invoke the 25th amendment? Is it???? What more needs to happen? I can’t believe what is happening and that it was set in motion by and for this lowlife, z-list reality show con man. How much more broken can we get…………..republicans need to be forced to resign their seats.

  24. Tiffany says:

I just saw a great tweet from April Reign that applies to some commenters here.

For all y’all, non Black and Brown folks (okay, white people) out here saying you are shocked, crying and saying this is not America and this country is better than this.

Y’all don’t listen (after we pleaded and begged), never will and cannot be trusted now or in the future.

    • Lanie says:

Counter protesters back in December told the media that the police were protecting violent Proud Boys. Today, the Capitol Police were just letting these tickets into the halls of Congress and taking selfie’s with the Proud Boys inside Congress.

  25. Rise & Shine says:

I can not believe what is happening today. May be our worst day in history. LOVE and stay safe to all.

  26. L4frimaire says:

I am just seeing this disgraceful spectacle and chaos enfold, and am just disgusted with this President and the GOP. They have tainted the word patriot and have tainted our democracy. They should all resign.

  27. Lady D says:

What does Trump’s army plan on doing in approximately three weeks? Does he realize his army is going to follow him no matter where he goes in the US?

  28. Willow says:

Honestly, I’m surprised it took this long for something like this to happen. Trump has been calling for violence before he was even elected and the Republicans have just been enabling him. And the difference in how police respond to white protesters vs black and brown is so blindingly obvious. When will this unending nightmare end?

    • Veronica S. says:

Yeah, unfortunately that is the only surprising thing about it to me – that it waited this long to occur. I’ve been grimly wondering when the violence would spill over from the election unrest. Lot of dark days to come, I think, as we try to survive this next decade. America has always been broken, but now we’ve ripped away the glamour that allowed so many to pretend otherwise.

  29. jferber says:

Yes, they treated them with kid gloves. The person shot was a woman pro-Trumper (it looked at least 90% male to me) and she is dead. Did they even make any arrests? Will Trump do a pre-emptive mass pardon? Make no mistake. This was a seditious insurrection riot mob siege attack domestic terrorism. Incited by the President of the United States. Impeach him and expel the eleven senators and over a hundred representatives in on the plot to subvert the results of a free and fair presidential election. Write to your U.S. Senators and your Congressperson. Trump incited mob violence. He is unsafe even for 14 more days. Unsafe for this country. Unsafe for the world.

  30. Delphine says:

I’ve read reports that it was Pence who asked for the National Guard not Trump, which he is not in the chain of command to do so some are speculating on Twitter that they’ve already invoked the 25th and haven’t told us. He also stood up to him today regarding his role in the electoral certification process. I’m praying so hard it’s invoked and he is out today! This is treason and god knows what other shit he could pull in the next 2 weeks.

    • Angie says:

I think he is President. Only the president can invoke the national guard or else it’s a legit coup. I think they’ve 25th amendmented him and they are not letting us know because of the threat of violence. And he doesn’t have a Twitter, so 🤷🏾‍♀️

      • Louisa says:

How does the 25th amendment work exactly? Can it be done so quickly? Is Pence sworn in and Trump informed he is no longer president? I can’t believe they would be able to keep it from us, especially Trump…. okay I take that back. I can believe anything at this point.

  31. Ohlala says:

Dear Americans! Please write down and remember each republican c..nt that was prepared to challenge today electoral votes. I saw some are backtracking etc. Rats are leaving the ship.
Please do not forget each of then by name and do not let them get away with it. They COMPLICIT

  32. Miranda says:

Oh, NOW Twitter decides to block Trump’s inciting, seditious ass. How f–king convenient.

    • Emm says:

I know it’s an effing joke. The damage has been done, the genie has been let out of the bottle, this is not going to stop him or his mob. These people sitting at home watching the news and on SM all think it’s ANTIFA and BLM posing as MAGAs because they could never see or admit what is actually happening and what has been unleashed by letting this guy and his cronies do whatever the eff they want for the last four years with absolutely not repercussions.

      • Miranda says:

You know, in a way, I feel like maybe we should’ve seen this coming from the moment “anti-fascist” became a controversial stance. It would be insulting to Black people to pretend that there was ever a time or place in American history when they could feel totally safe, but it really seemed like there was a national consensus that Hitler and Mussolini sucked.

  33. Lesley says:

Please be safe anyone reading Celebitchy and in the DC area. This is another good reason to stay at home, indoors.

And in the UK, DM are following but they are still showing the face of the woman who looks like she is getting medical assistance. I find this very distasteful if this is the person who died. Imagine discovering a loved one or family member has died by seeing her online like that?

  34. Your work gives immensely positive energy!! Good Job

  35. teehee says:

“because the MAGA movement is going nowhere- their political careers are over”

IS HE TALKING ABOUT HIMSELF AND FAMILY
and I’m sorry, isn’t MAGA LITERALLY THEIR MOVEMENT and no one else’s?

And seriously, he thinks, that any of them have the power to decide careers, rather than democracy determining political careers.
Like they gonna sit in some imaginary space of power ad wave wands?

I know, they have tried very hard to make that the case. … fortunately till now it has only been partly successful.
I hope the Biden administration brings in much more sever anti corruption and anti-nepotism regulation, and charges all of these “kids” with treason, along with their daddy.

This punk has the AUDACITY and the IGNORANCE to still NOT claim the responsibility and the accountability if it is failing.
That’s all life is to these punks: everyone is their servant, their tool: it is someone else’s fault if anything fails and it is ll their own effort and talents and win if it works.

These rich people think they can buy everything and this totally reflecting in their words and actions incredibly clearly.

Thefted work, thefted success, outsourced failure.

  36. Ragna says:

To be perfectly honest, the utter calm, no surprise I felt when I woke up today and read what had happened should probably be alarming.

However at this point I’m all but expecting a “fifth of November” although every bone in my being hopes otherwise.

But yeah, as a non American watching this and having seen your politics unfold for the past 20 years (I’ll admit to not being as tuned in on what you were up to before then on account of first being less than 10 years old and second not having been born) it’s not surprising it’s gone this way. Not entirely.

It is a little surprising that it didn’t course correct earlier, but I’m not really surprised that it has gotten this bad.
