Prince Albert: The Sussexes shouldn’t have spilled tea ‘in the public sphere like that’

Tour de France Stage One

It’s pretty clear that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s Oprah interview sent a chill down the spines of every Windsor and Windsor-sycophant. But was it also a reset for European monarchy in general? Maybe, but probably not. It depends on whether or not a particular royal house has current drama, I would think. For the European royal families which function as, you know, families who love each other and look out for each other, the interview was probably more of an oddity or a soap opera. But take the House of Grimaldi, the royal house of Monaco. They have tons of drama, secrets and weird things happening, currently and multi-generationally. And so Prince Albert was shaken up about the Oprah interview.

Prince Albert of Monaco has shared his reaction to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey and the Monaco royal was critical with his remarks. Appearing on the BBC World News in a rare interview, host Yalda Hakim asked the royal for his reaction.

“I think it’s very difficult to be in someone’s place,” Prince Albert started, adding: “I can understand the pressure that they were under. But I think this type of public dissatisfaction, to say the least, these types of conversations should be held within intimate quarters of the family. It doesn’t really have to be laid out in the public sphere like that. It did bother me a little bit.”

He continued: “I can see where they’re coming from in a certain way, but I think it wasn’t the appropriate forum to have these kinds of discussions.”

Yalda also asked the 63-year-old if he had any advice for Prince Harry as the royal began his new life in America with Meghan, Archie and their upcoming child.

“I wish them the best, but it’s a difficult world out there and I hope he can have the judgement and wisdom to make the right choices,” Prince Albert responded.

[From Hello]

It strikes me that he was like “damn, now I’ve gotta worry about Charlene running to Oprah!!” Can you imagine? I would love to see Oprah sit down with Her Serene Highness Princess Charlene so we could find out ALL the drama with Albert’s other children, the confiscated passport and the runaway bride situation, his side chicks and don’t forget about the insemination chamber. So, yeah, that’s my read of it: Albert was being shady about Harry and Meghan because HE has sh-t to hide. The idea of a high-ranking member of a royal family running off to America and spilling the tea to Oprah just hits too close to home for him.

Plus… The Grimaldis aren’t like the Windsors operationally. Albert actually seems to enjoy having his extended family around. Albert adores his nieces and nephews, he spoils them, supports their choices and doesn’t try to force them out of the “spotlight” out of pettiness or vindictiveness. He gets along really well with his sister Caroline and she’s very active in and around Monaco. My point is that Albert can’t really fathom how profoundly dysfunctional the Windsors are as a family at this point. That’s another reason why he’s so flummoxed by Harry’s moves.

Of all people to open their yap

If he dont sit down somewhere with all his biracial illegitimate children……

    • DS9 says:

      Right? Of course he’s pressed.

      • MMRB says:

See,…. this is why it is questionable to allow people with no life experience to be heads of State,… because anyone with a grain of a brain, would thing… hmmm i should just be quiet, because if i draw attention to myself, they will start to go back in time, and look at all the reels of footage where, my poor long suffering wife tried to escape before our nuptials and then looked dead in the eyes and depressed for years..
Ahem (points side finger at Megan as an example of the verification of those dusty reels).

DUMB MOVE ALBERT. dumb…. I mean, thank you.

    • Victoria says:

@Oatmeal, I literally was about to say, if he don’t sit his rainbow coalition sperm, budget ass dress uniforms down somewhere.

You got a whole wife locked up and trapped with twins and babies in every color and continent but you’re mad because Successes called out the ugly racism that could have ended BOTH of their lives and that of their unborn child.

But you know why he doesn’t care? Because he’s not married to his mixed children’s mothers. It’s out of sight and out of mind for him. His kids aren’t even allowed to be treated as equals to their twin siblings and have to be hidden.

Archie and baby to come Success are children born in a loving marriage and their parents will do everything and anything they can to protect their kids. And if that means running and telling dat on all those musty heaux, so be it.

They have suffered so much and for absolutely no good reason.

      Screw him.

      • Lorelei says:

@Victoria, you have ended me with “if he don’t sit his rainbow coalition sperm, budget ass dress uniforms down somewhere.”

        Rainbow coalition sperm!! I’m dead

      • BothSidesNow says:

I know I am several days late, but if I was him, I would seriously shut his trap!! I have read at length what he has done to poor Charlotte and she IS a prisoner in his home and country. He made a stipulation that should she divorce him, he takes primary custody of the children. She tried to flee TWICE before the marriage, once in Paris, where she was remanded by French police and remanded into the custody of his security detail. Charlotte had her passport confiscated, she wasn’t allowed to travel home for over 10 years and he is holding her hostage. His power over her should be considered crimes against humanity in that should she divorce him, he retains full custody. What country would deprive a mother of her children? Monaco I guess where he does rule with an iron fist and a cold heart. Charlotte cried during the entire wedding ceremony. She did NOT want to marry him, who would!!

    • Oy_Hey says:

Prince SideBaby needs to stop talking and drawing attention to himself. He’s got 2 known non-royal kids and there’s an open suit about a third. His wife is basically a prisoner that was caught at the airport trying to run away.

Why would you invite spotlight on yourself by talking? Why???

      • Where'sMyTiara says:

Prince SideBaby… :melts into a fit of giggles:

It’s the kids I genuinely feel sorry for. To have that racist dry piece of toast for a father…lord.

      • Kelly says:

Because he’s an arrogant ass that is rarely if ever told no.

    • Where'sMyTiara says:

The thing that fell out of my mouth when I read this: “I’m sorry, Captain Paternity Lawsuit Pants says what?”

Maybe if Albert stopped telling other people how to live their lives, he’d have more energy to keep his Little Scepter in his pants.

    • PEARL GREY says:

Albert should worry less about the Oprah interview and more about how many other babies of his are going to come popping out of the woodwork. He can’t even keep count at this point.

    • Kelly says:

Exactly! White trash family with a royal pedigree.

Caroline is married to a pig.

Stephanie had affairs with married bodyguard.

His number of illegitimate offspring are astounding even by medieval royal standards.

      What a hypocritical pig.

    • Madelaine says:

Rumor has it that Charlene’s head shaving directly resulted from learning that a restaurant waitress had just given birth to Sperminator’s …th out-of-the-wedlock child. No indication was given as to the baby’s ethnic background. I bet the palace has locked Charlene’s passport in a safe, just in case.

    • PrincessK says:

With his track record he should have kept quiet but I do think that his comments were twisted and taken out of context and used to make the Sussexes of course look bad.

  2. L84Tea says:

Says the guy who is holding his wife hostage and is probably nervous that his own royal staff might get an idea to start spilling tea…Albert’s got enough tea to fill several pots.

  3. Snuffles says:

Of course he’s freaked. ALL of them royals have varying degrees of dirty little secrets. Probably a good number of criminal ones too. They’re terrified Harry is giving others ideas.

    • Natters5 says:

Yes, there is a good point made in this post that if you have been running your monarchy with secrets, adulterous princesses, illegitimate children and a wife that tried to escape from you that you would not be pleased with someone spilling all the tea on Oprah. There is no regard in his statement that Harry and Meghan did try to settle this in private to no avail and the interview was to simply tell their side of the story. The British RF thought that they could be in control of the media and keep on spreading lies and H&M would keep a “dignified” silence. H&M’s interview made it clear that if they spread lies, they will counter with their side.

    • Isabella says:

He’s also ignoring the fact that the palace is constantly leaking about H&M. This is the first interview they’ve ever done.

So this is backward b.s. “It doesn’t really have to be laid out in the public sphere like that. It did bother me a little bit.”

  4. Levans says:

I’m sure Prince Albert does not want his wife or any of his baby mamas running to Oprah to spill all the tea! Especially if the issue of unfair treatment of biracial family members comes up!

    • Cecilia says:

If they would he would defend himself PUBLICLY instead of keep it private. Im sorry but if im being publicly disrespected im going to defend myself publicly. The sussexes were right to air the dirty laundry

    • Becks1 says:

This is EXACTLY what he’s worried about lmao. He doesnt want anyone who knows anything in his life to get any ideas.

  5. Maria says:

    Glass houses, throwing stones, etc.

  6. Tulipworthy says:

He doesn’t think they should speak, but it’s ok if he does?

  7. DS9 says:

Of course he feels that way. If even 10% of the people who had dirt on him opened up their mouth….

He really should have sat there and ate his food.

  8. Elizabeth says:

Prince Albert, close personal friend of Vladimir Putin. STFU.

    • Natters5 says:

Not to mention all the billionaires who live in Monaco hiding their money from taxes and money laundering that goes on there. They are the Euro Trash of Royal families.

      • agnes says:

They aren’t even royal royal. The closest to royal they have his Caroline’s husband Ernst-August von Hannover and he really isn’t a prize.

  9. Kalana says:

I wonder if the Oprah interview set off a flurry of NDAs being signed and prenups being renegotiated.

  10. Sofia says:

This coming from a man who has 2 confirmed out of wedlock children and is currently in court contesting the paternity of a potential 3rd? Is this the same man who’s pre wedding drama (whether real or not) was tabloid fodder for a while? Is this the man who’s personal life of sleeping with every female who had a pulse was well documented in the tabloids?

He wants to complain about personal information in the public sphere?

  11. Merricat says:

Hahahahaha! I don’t think anyone wants Albert on their side.

  12. Giggles says:

I 100% believe that they confiscated Charlene’s keys and passport and treated her like a hostage.

  13. FancyPants says:

Hakim’s follow up question should have been “Sure, so exactly how much are you paying your wife and all your side pieces to keep quiet hmmm?”

  14. emmy says:

Riiiight. Harry should have had a few kids all over the place instead. Just don’t ask douchey white guys approaching retirement age about this sh*t. Their opinion is not relevant.

  15. Carrie says:

Says the man who is named after a penis piercing and behaves like a dick.

  16. Paperclip says:

“I wish them the best, but it’s a difficult world out there and I hope he can have the judgement and wisdom to make the right choices.”

That’s rich coming from the bareback Prince of Europe.

  17. Mina_Esq says:

Albert isn’t the best person to talk about having wisdom and making wise choices. To start, the man repeatedly chooses not to use protection with his side chicks. But anyway, I would LOVE a Charlene Oprah interview!!! It would be glorious. Maybe when her kids turn 18.

  18. Lauren says:

Says the guy with at least two know biracial children (with laws changed so that only children from wedlock could be considered heirs to the throne, so for sure not the black kids) and a third one who is till in litigation and a wife who tried to run aways three times before the wedding. He should take a stadium full of seats.

    • Anna says:

Exactly. Let’s talk to Nicole Costa and see how she feels about her child being denied his rightful place in the monarchy.

      • Lemons says:

It really is too bad because her son is very attractive and if his charisma matches his looks, he would have been a very popular prince.

  19. S808 says:

Since he felt to the need to speak up he should give us a update on side baby #3.

  20. Amy Bee says:

Yeah, he’s afraid Charlene will expose him in a sit-down interview. Pity the journalist didn’t ask him about his new paternity suit.

  21. missskitttin says:

More like the “royal sources and tabloids shouldn’t have spread lies like that”

  22. missskitttin says:

“Now. About Charlenes new haircut…?” Asked the journalist…..

  23. Myra says:

Deleted cause I never learn about not feeding trolls. lol

  24. Izzy says:

Says the guy who had to be dragged to court over yet ANOTHER child whose mother isn’t Charlene.

  25. Talie says:

The Grimaldis are screwed up in their own way, but they do stick together. I also always liked that they aren’t prudish about the younger generation’s habits when it comes to babies and weddings. They have a more relaxed attitude.

    • bamaborn says:

Was wondering if he might have been smoking something, was getting whip lash just reading those comments.

  26. Lowrider says:

Everyone wants Harry and Meghans attention.

  27. Kitty says:

His own mother spilled tea any chance she got though?

  28. Dee says:

Says the paragon of model behavior.

  29. Lady D says:

Someone in another post, referred to Albert as “community peen” LOL.

  30. Bibi says:

Ouuuuuh I feel some huge sh*t coming for Albert. Albert knows of all people he is the last who can comment on Meg & Harry. With Charlene trying to escape, to ugly crying at her wedding, his fooling around cheating on her, her cry for help haircut. I mean the guy is obviously being pressed to say something like this so that his OWN SHIT wont be discussed publicly. CHARLENE if you’re the one who wants to do it, DO IT! ESCAPE! AND TELL US ABOUT IT ON OPRAH!! YOU ARE HOME IN SOUTH AFRICA, LEAVE!!!

  31. Lizzie says:

First, talk about peope living in glass houses not thowing stones. Second, no they shouldn’t have to say it publically but I don’t think he gets the real security threats this has caused and continues to build. Third, go read the Buzzfeed article Albert.

    • Lizzie says:

Edit; IIRC the palace DID make statements when it was alleged that Stephanie was driving the car when Princess Grace died. They also didn’t have a competing palace telling the media that it was true plus making up a bunch of lies to go with it.

  32. MsIam says:

They all did a big sit down interview with US television though. I think it was with Diane Sawyer? It was when Stephanie was going through some drama and there were rumors that all of Caroline’s hair had fallen out, just lots of stuff. So yeah, have a seat Albert before people start looking that sh*t up again.

  33. Liz version 700 says:

Spoken like a dude with a lot of secrets and a deep abiding terror of Ophra

  34. Sunshine says:

A Charlene interview with Oprah would be EPIC.

  35. Bex says:

His sister Stephanie appeared on Oprah years ago.

  36. Elizabeth K. Mahon says:

Prince Albert? The man who runs to People magazine every chance he gets? The man who has at least 3, possibly four illegitimate children whose mother’s had to go to court to get him to acknowledge them after he denied for years that he was the father? The man whose sister is holding tight to that HRH she got from marrying the German prince who likes to pee on things? That Prince Albert? He needs to take a seat.

    • molly says:

Exactly. Prince Albert looooooves to call up People magazine for a chat. He can take all the seats.

  37. Coco says:

I don’t know much about his scandals, but considering most people would only recognize the royals of Monaco because an American actress marrying in brought them international fame, you’d think he might be less of a pompous ass about this.

  38. Sojaschnitzel says:

Rich white male tells Black female to shut up and suffer silently. Suuuuuurreeeeee.

  39. MMadison says:

Wait……..Prince Albert and Prince Andrew should NEVER speak about ANYTHING

  40. Miss Melissa says:

Yes, keep your secret children and prisoner/wives to yourselves, Royals. Like Albert!

Prince of a postage stamp nation ruled by descendants of illegitimate children with illegitimate of their own, running an economy based on gambling.

Let’s all take advice on being dignified from this winner.

  41. lucylee says:

Albert needs to stop talking. I remember when his parents got married (I’m 77 years old). His daddy needed to produce an heir so with the help of a Catholic clergyman they found the Hollywood starlet Grace Kelly. They met in 1955 and married in 1956(sound familiar). Didn’t he impregnate a 17 year old when he was in his 40s? Maybe he can tell us how much he loves Charlene’s new haircut or if she really tried to escape before the wedding.

  42. Beach Dreams says:

A creep with enough skeletons to fill a palace-sized closet should really keep his mouth shut.

  43. Mel says:

Not this messy AF man opening his mouth to say anything. How many side car kids does he have???

  44. chimes@midnight says:

Is this the point where someone says, “Can it, Prince Albert!!!” ?

  45. Meg says:

Toxic people in my life told me the same line, to remain silent about what they did because all narcissists care about is their image. As if i owed them my silence

  46. Valiantly Varnished says:

Prince Albie is PROJECTING. And OF COURSE he doesn’t get it. His wife tried to flee before the wedding and he took her passport to stop her. A miserable wife isn’t a deal breaker for him. He has far more in common with Charles and William than he ever could with Harry.

  47. beff says:

Y’all did not disappoint in the comments section today. I haven’t even read the article yet, just jumped in here for the popcorn. Happy Friday!

  48. Janice Hill says:

I agree. Great comments. My first thought was there’s so much about the CRASS Grimaldis that we DO know. Can you imagine learning how much they’ve kept under wraps? And by the way, is he wearing a big yellow tape measure in that picture?

  49. Jaded says:

The Grimaldis are Eurotrash with a million skeletons that have emerged publicly so you can imagine how many more they have stashed away. It’s rich that he’s come out opining about the Susseses like he’s some model of royal discretion.

  50. Dollycoa says:

Maybe he thinks all princes who marry a tresses should behave like his father, who locked Grace Kelly up in a gilded cage, living a life of misery until her untimely death.

  51. Keanu's Kitten says:

This – from the man who was allergic to condoms it seems! Take several seats…

  52. Cora says:

He has a nerve…having his own first born, a black son btw, hidden and denied his birthrights…#abolishthemall

  53. Couch potato says:

This is rich comming from the man Pedo Andrew envies because he’s free to do what he want without the press telling on him. With all the shit already known about Albert, I really wonder what’s not reported in the press. Wouldn’t surprise me if he’s been a regular guest of Epstein.

  54. Jess says:

Guess they should’ve just been sneaky and “leaked” information to the press like everyone else.

  55. Laugh or Cry says:

Meanwhile Charlene is in the background blinking twice for help… says the man who was spreading his seed like chem trails 😑

    • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

The marriage was/is a sham from the get go but Charlene has been a willing participant. She’s been spending lockdown with her kids and her cute (not Albert) boyfriend. Albert doesn’t care, he got what he wanted out of it and as long she continues to show up at the occasional event, she can do whatever she wants. If she wants out she is free to file for divorce and she will get her settlement in full but the issue is that the twins will have to remain in Monaco until they’re adults. At least within the marriage they can travel with Charlene to SA and America.

  56. Feeshalori says:

It’s those who have the messy lives and the most to hide who go blabbing to the media and getting all sanctimonious on us. What a hypocrite. William and Kate anyone?

  57. NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

The personal lives of public figures are messy and people only need to know so much provided said public figure isn’t doing anything illegal. I think it’s natural to want to keep family dirty laundry private. I think had Harry and Meghan had their issues addressed privately, there would have been no need for an interview. It never should have gone as far as it did but it is still the failure of Charles that this family dirty laundry went public. If he wanted it to remain private than it should have been legitimately addressed in private.

What Albert doesn’t want is his past demons coming out in the public sphere. His only requirement of his family is that they keep the dirty laundry in-house. However, any member of the Grimaldi family from a lowly 4th cousin on up could schedule an appointment with Albert, Albert would keep that appointment and by God or Hellwater he will help address whatever the concern is in private. This is what every head of a great European household does. Even the Romanovs still act like a family.

  58. tiredoldcrazylady says:

I literally CAN NOT WAIT until all his progeny start talking. Will be the reality show that has no end.

  59. L4frimaire says:

The comments here and on Twitter dragging this man are hilarious and frankly, accurate. The Grimaldi siblings are not good at marriage. Charlene seems miserable and on mother’s little helpers. Even Caroline, who seems like the most stable one, is estranged from her messy boorish husband Ernst of Hanover, who is a distant cousin of the British royals. The younger Grimaldis seem less messy and less drama, or maybe just under less scrutiny and pressure. I definitely think the interview was a bombshell that surprised us in how awful things really were, and how dysfunctional and messed up the Royal family and the whole apparatus is. Part of me does wonder why they did do the interview and the timing, because I wouldn’t have the guts to do it. However,at the same time, the palace kept dropping lies, harassing them through the press and trying to use them as scapegoats, even a year after they left. Losing the lawsuit and the pregnancy really had them wound up as well.Everyone seems to forget that the Royal family have been briefing against the Sussexes for years and smearing them with lies and distortions, while the Sussexes said nothing. Why all of a sudden, when you had unhinged stalkers like Piers Morgan constantly going after Meghan and using national airwaves to harass her for years, is it suddenly a problem? As mentioned before, they definitely held back a lot. Anyway, Albert is getting the attention he craved.

  60. rawiya says:

Nah. Albert. Dude. Your wife tried to leave the country before the wedding. She bawled during the ceremony, so much so that people thought she was being forced to get married. The two of you didn’t stay in the same hotel room during your “honeymoon”. AND, your family runs to Point de Vue every other month to give them exclusives. Out of everyone who should just sit there and eat their chicken.

  61. Brigitte Riley says:

Correction: meant to say “ constructive criticism” ……

  62. Leigh_S says:

Shouldn’t he be in a can somewhere, where we don’t need to listen to him?

  63. Emily_C says:

Abusers always want abuse victims to deal with things “privately,” where the abusers can keep control.

    • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

I’m not defending Albert but this is an issue with any royal family. Don’t get me wrong here I’m not justifying abuse in any way but we got to be careful between birthright duties and what a person is entitled to.

It’s not abuse to want to keep some family info private, especially conflicts within a family with public recognition. There is no line between professional and personal when it comes to royalty. Their palaces are microscopes and they all know it. Look at Greece, minute personal issues brought down their royal family (in fairness having Hellenic royalty was never going to work). Look at “Cousin” Nicky in Russia. Whatever happened with Rasputin in his personal brought him down. There does need to be care in what is disclosed publicly.

  64. Margot says:

He should have just shut up. Monaco should abolish their monarchy. These scammers are all trash

  65. Gaah says:

HAHAHAH This guy. He is such a scumbag. He thinks he is as loved as his mother. Some day his wife’s story will come out and he will really be sorry.

  66. A says:

Hmm. I’m always in two minds about Prince Albert. He’s supposed to be the most personable out of all of his siblings, but he’s also supposed to be a d-ck. I think both of those are true at the same time–that he actually does have a *smidge* more of empathy and compassion in that shiny bald head of his, that enables him to see things from other points of view, but it also isn’t enough to be like, a great person either.

When he says “I can see where they’re coming from”–maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but I think that he truly does mean that in some sense. I think, before he got married, him and Charlene probably had a good relationship. They did have a lot in common, especially because both of them like sports. I think everything was easier for Charlene when she wasn’t living in Monaco. I think, similar to Meghan, Charlene probably had no clue what she was in for, and only fully understood the environment she’d been placed in in the run up to her wedding. I think Charlene had no clue just how awful the people she’d be surrounded by could be, especially to her. Monaco is a tough crowd, and I don’t doubt that like Meghan, she also got placed in a shitty situation, and faced something of a culture shock, that she had to navigate and make the best of. Unlike Meghan though, she doesn’t have a husband who has anywhere close to the sort of decency that Harry does, to either protect her, defend her, or get her out of that situation.

From what I know, right now, Albert and Charlene don’t live together. She’s got her own place somewhere on the outskirts of Monaco, where she lives with her kids. I think that was the best Albert could do for her in the circumstances, and they pretty much live separate lives now, like William and Kate. It’s a bit eerie, if not telling, how both of those couples got married around the same time, and how their lives have unraveled in the same way.

    • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

Charlene lives in a secluded mansion nearer to Nice where she can be found almost daily. Her and Albert are friendly and on good terms but they are no longer together. Both are satisfied with the current arrangement.

However, you are closer to the truth than you will ever know unless you are a relative.

  67. equality says:

How does he feel about the propriety of giving an interview concerning other people’s business?

  68. Gk says:

Classic projection. He wishes his secrets would be kept by all those pesky women/ moms and he thinks it is the same thing as H&M running away. Wait he is confusing it with C running away!

  69. Isa says:

Good judgment would be wearing a condom.

I think it’s clear that Meghan and Harry tried to resolve the issues before leaving, much less going public. It’s clear to me they enjoyed their roles and wanted to serve. They just wanted to be treated fairly. It’s why they’re continuing those roles, just without the royal family. Heck, they even tried to continue to be a part of the family, but the family wouldn’t have it.
It’s the royal family that made things worse, not H&M. It didn’t have to be this way.

  70. Hhhhmmmmm. Coming from the man who can’t be faithful!

  71. Well Wisher says:

He is speaking about proprietary ? Interesting. We will hear of his immense wealth when the next scandal emerges.
