I just loved her in Arrested Development and Archer. She had such impeccable comedic timing…I’ve been watching Arrested Development on Netflix again, and honestly….she’s the best part of the show for me. Rest in peace, Jessica. You’ll be sorely missed.

    • Tiffany :) says:

She was incredible in Arrested Development.

I’m still really pissed about what Jeffrey Tambor did to her, and how Jason Batement/Tony Hale made excuses for him. She was a treasure and they made her cry. I hope they feel terrible today.

      • Emm says:

Agreed! Down with men! Ugh, seriously though.

      • Mrs.Krabapple says:

Yes, only Alia Shawkat showed her any support. I suppose I didn’t expect much from Bateman and the others, but I was particularly disappointed by Tony Hale because I expected more compassion from him (given how spiritual he is). If they were caught off guard, they could have stayed silent instead, and just let Walter tell her story.

      • Gillysirl says:

That was one of the worst examples of men minimizing other men’s actions. They obviously had their own agendas and it didn’t include recognizing that they were wrong. I think a lot of women immediately saw themselves in that interview. It struck a nerve with me.

I’m so sad about Jessica, but what an icon and legacy. I watched some of her best AD moments last night, just sheer perfection.
I love Uzo in that green dress.
That link about Issa Rae is a good read – she is just crushing it, and bringing many others up along with her, which is just awesome and how it should be.

    • Golly Gee says:

What a loss. She really was amazing in Arrested Development. “That B*TCH!” LOL! And her facial expressions.

  3. livealot says:

Yes was saddened by this news. My respect for her grew even more when she discussed and spoke out about her unfair /harsh treatment on the Arrested Development set.

  4. MangoAngelesque says:

There’s no way Lenny and JLo would ever be a thing. She’s all about materialistic high-living power things, and he’s running around barefoot in the Bahamas, growing gardens and dogs for a lot of the year.

    • greenmonster says:

I don’t know why, but I really don’t want to see this happen.

    • lucy2 says:

Yeah they seem like polar opposites to me.

    • Kyla says:

Having seen some of Lenny’s homes in Architecture Digest, he also has a fondness for very expensive things.

    • Bibi says:

Jlo is all about bling, high lifestyle, success, love and diamonds while being clean and strong as a woman. She wants to be the image of perfection and thrives for people to see her as a goddess we all must loo up to become. (lol) Lenny is low maintenance, chill, carefree, drug & sex vibe. Jlo doesnt fit his bill, and he doesnt check all that’s on her list, but then again, she did go out with Casper, so she definitely would go out with Lenny – but Lenny would lowkey say no thanks.

  5. (The OG) Jan90067 says:

It always comes in threes: first George Segal, then Jessica Walter, and today we hear about Larry McMurtry. 💔

RIP… deepest condolences to family, friends, and fans…all who loved and admired them.

  6. Keats says:

Jessica Walter was the best part of AD by far. Every glare, every screech, every snide quip was absolute perfection. I had no idea she was 80. RIP you timeless comedic queen

  7. Christin says:

Jessica was a good dramatic actress as well. She was an earlier version of an affair partner that refuses to be ignored in Play Misty for Me.

    • Merricat says:

She played a stalker, and she was brilliant.

      • Christin says:

Yes, she was definitely great in that role. The character was similar to Alex in Fatal Attraction, only I think Jessica played her part even more convincingly.

    • Poisonella says:

I forgot that! It was way ahead of its time that’s for sure! She was in “The Group” when she was a young actress and she was so good- and she was stunningly beautiful! She wasn’t afraid to act the parts where she was mean or petty or even silly- she was that good. Bet she had a lot of interesting stories to tell too- She worked with everyone!

  8. Sandra says:

Sad about Jessica but happy for Emma and husband. Circle of life… I also appreciate how low-keyed they have been about her pregnancy and now about the birth. Wonder how long before we know the sex and name… just proves it can be done.😚

  9. nicegirl says:

She was so amazing in Play Misty for Me and I’ve loved her since childhood. Saddened by this loss. Thank you ladies

  10. Robin says:

Oh, this is sad. I only know her from Arrested Development. She was my favourite character. I’m going over to youtube to watch a collection of her best AD scenes.

  11. JJ says:

So SAD about Jessica!! Archer and AD are shows I re-watch every year, I’m really feeling this one guys 🙁
I also took up Murder, She Wrote when the pandemic started and she’s in a few of those too! So fun to see her.

  12. Ang says:

Brilliant, beautiful, hilarious, iconic Mamma Bluth. 💔

  13. Colleen says:

Rest in Power, Jessica. I will drink a vodka martini in your honor tonight. 🙁

  14. psl says:

A little gem from the 80’s – “The Flamingo Kid” with Matt Dillon, Richard Crenna and Hector Elizondo is where I first remember seeing her. I was 13 years old and thought she was gorgeous. She was so talented, and I of course love her in both AD and Archer.

I gasped and yelled, “NO! ” and a few curse words. This one made me really sad. Especially right after George Segal, like a 1-2 punch to the gut.

  15. smee says:

I found her her Bluth character hilarious and so great that her biggest role was her last…..

My only “complaint” is that funny woman of certain age must be drunk….Mrs Bluth, Karen Walker, Moira Rose from Schitts Creek, etc

    RIP
