Prince Charles & his sons spoke for two hours following Prince Philip’s funeral?

Prince Philip Funeral

I am, as always, incredibly curious about the way certain events are being reported in the British press. It seemed like as soon as Prince Harry stepped foot on British soil – for the first time in 13 months – the royals were leaking against him and creating these bizarre, melodramatic storylines about him. I hope Harry has gotten enough distance from his family that he saw them in a new light and saw their banal, asinine machinations for what they are. The story in the Sun is that William, Harry and Charles reunited for hours after Prince Philip’s Saturday funeral. The basis for this is that Baldemort, Chuck and Haz didn’t leave Windsor Castle for several hours.

Prince Harry was reunited with brother William for two hours after the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral — sparking hopes of peace between them. They joined dad Charles for the first time since Harry and wife Meghan’s Oprah US TV interview threatened to tear the family apart.

Charles had private talks with his warring sons after the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral — and insiders say it is just what Philip would have wanted. The three met up away from the cameras following Saturday’s televised service. They remained together for two hours at Windsor Castle as they mingled with family members on its Quadrangle. It sparked hopes that the devastating rift between the brothers could one day be healed.

Harry may now stay on for the Queen’s 95th birthday this Wednesday. He has also said he will join his older brother for the unveiling of Princess Diana’s memorial statue at Kensington Palace. Royal insiders hope the ceremony on July 1 could also help ease the rift as they stand together on what would have been their mother’s 60th birthday. A source said: “It’s early days but you’d hope this is exactly the first step Philip would have wished for.”

A source said: “It is not known what was said behind closed doors and when the cameras were turned off, but it’s unfathomable to think Megxit and Oprah did not come up. Harry and William appeared cordial as the cameras rolled and that seemed to pave the way for Charles to join them when everyone had left.”

Harry and William arrived at the Quadrangle together away from the TV cameras as the rest of the family chatted on the lawn. Charles and Camilla, who had led the family on the walk back, strolled across the grass to speak to the princes. Family members split into small groups and spoke two metres apart without their masks, offering “solidarity” and “comfort”, sources revealed. The Queen retired to her private apartments with her Lady-in-Waiting Lady Susan Hussey immediately after the service.

The Duchess of Cornwall left by car without Charles at 5pm. But according to sources, the Prince of Wales and his sons stayed at the castle for an hour after Camilla departed.

Royal biographer Penny Junor said: “This was minutes after the funeral and they were all grieving in their own ways. There might have been some greetings. And even that is a positive start. There is a lot to be unravelled here. This is a falling-out that has gone on for a long time. They need the time, space and the trust. Harry should stay for the Queen’s birthday as it is the least he can do for his grandmother and it gives him even more opportunity to talk to his father and his brother.”

[From The Sun]

It’s incredibly curious to me that the official story from the Royal Rota is that William and Harry were at war and Charles is separate from their beef and acting as some kind of neutral arbiter of the brothers’ dispute. What short memories they have – Harry was (and perhaps is) just as mad at Charles as he is with William. Harry is massively disappointed in his father, he told us that himself. It’s quite something to see the British outlets now pretend that Harry’s sole beef is with William. Anyway, my guess is that William and Charles will both leak their versions of the conversation to the papers in coming days. It will be interesting to see if Harry places a call to Gayle King to correct anything.

  1. Snuffles says:

I swear I also read somewhere that the conversation wasn’t productive this time around either.

    ETA: It was Page Six

    • Kalana says:

Page Six is the Middletons and William. So I guess Will is still incandescent.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

As per usual, the leaks and briefings continue. But that’s ok as long as the leaks are to BM and other affiliated news sources. Harry is free as a bird now. Good luck to Charles, Joffrey and their pebble.

  2. Darla says:

I have no idea but I always assumed he would be at the unveiling of Diana’s statute and think it’s so weird how so many hope he won’t be. Of course he’s going to be there.

    • Lauren says:

Meghan is due around that time. It’s not weird to assume that he won’t be there if he is at home with his newborn child, toddler and wife.

      • Dawning says:

Total disregard and disrespect for Harry’s real family (Meg, Archie and Little Miss Sussex). What does PJ mean it’s the least he can do to stay for Queen’s birthday. Again and again the British tabloids show that they don’t respect Meghan.

      • Brielle says:

@dawning I mean ,are u surprised?nobody on that rotten trio(royal family, the rota, the part of the public who hates Meghan) care about Meghan, they hate her to the core…

    • Snuffles says:

I doubt it. The baby is due around then. I don’t think he’s budging once he gets back home.

    • Bren says:

With Harry attending the funeral and Meghan’s due date potentially around the same time, it takes the pressure off of him to attend the statue unveiling. I would be surprised if Harry attends another family event in the UK without Meghan again.

      • swirlmamad says:

Agree. With Meghan due around then, I would be highly surprised if he comes back for the unveiling. That may even be partly why he’s staying a couple of extra days longer now — so that there’s even less pressure for him to come back then.

    • Becks1 says:

I have said for a while now that the only reason I think he won’t attend is Meghan’s due date. I don’t think he’s going to stay home because of family issues with William or anything. But we also don’t know when Meghan is actually due, if she’s due early June then its possible Harry will go.

      • swirlmamad says:

This is true. It all hinges on when Meghan actually gives birth and it’s futile to speculate now whether he will or won’t go.

      • TeamMeg says:

I agree – it will depend on when the baby comes. Harry can’t win either way with the tabs, so it’s really down to how much that statue means to him whether or not he wants to be present at The Unveiling. He might just “release a statement.” Going forward, he can visit the statue in person any time he wants, Covid permitting.

    • Couch potato says:

That’s not given. Meghans due date and corona can set a stop to that.

I think they’re setting him up for negative stories again. This article claimes Harry said he’d be there for the unveiling, if he doesn’t go, they can make headlines calling him a liar and write tons of articles about how he betrayd his family and country, how disapointed TOB is, how he let down the grieving queen in her darkest hour etc

      • Lucy says:

Couch Potato, that’s what I think. They hyped up how he was coming back for the One Year Review (the Queen is waiting for him to schedule it!) from January until almost the day of the Oprah interview. Then afterwards it turns out he’d started a job in January and already settled everything with his granny.

So I think they only hype when they know for sure he’s already informed them he’s doing the opposite. That way they can keep setting him up as some flake, when really it’s stories about scheduling.

Also, Kate looked stunning in this car shots, but the full body pics were frightening. I hope she gets some kind of help.

    • Amy Bee says:

@Darla” I doesn’t seem that Harry will be at the unveiling. Meghan is pregnant and will probably having the baby just before or around that same time. The desperation from the press for a reconciliation at the funeral tells me they already know that he’s not going to be there.

    • Concern Fae says:

If William gave a shit about his brother being there for the unveiling, he would be moving the date away from Meghan’s due date so that Harry would actually be able to attend. That is what normal, functional families do. Or have the unveiling on the original date, explaining to everyone why Harry couldn’t be there but wanted the ceremony to go on and that he is sorely missed.

This hiring of a crisis PR firm, but with a delayed start date, is just another sign of how little Charles and William understand how to be human in this world.

    • Gabby says:

I don’t think Harry will attend. Even if Baby Sussex 2 arrives in early June, Harry would need to do the full 10-day self quarantine ahead of the unveiling wouldn’t he? He was only let out after Day 5 this time because it was a funeral. There is no exception for a status unveiling. He would not leave his wife/toddler/newborn for that long. Let William have the statue event to himself.

  3. Cecilia says:

Funny how everybody was all up in arms when harry allowed gayle king to set the record straight on air, but its radio silence from the same crew now. How will harry be able to trust is family ever again if everytime he has a private convo it ends up in the papers?

    • Abby says:

      exactly.

    • Ainsley7 says:

The whole idea that a conversation took place is based on Harry, William, and Charles staying at the castle for awhile after the service. For all we know, Harry spent the entire time mingling with everyone and no serious talk was had. How is that the same thing as Harry telling Gayle specifically how a conversation went? Something I doubt he’ll do in the future. I don’t think Gayle was supposed to tell the world about the unproductive talk anyway. Even she seemed on the fence about whether she should say it.

      • Brielle says:

Did you forget why Gale talk about it? Roya nikkah on an article said that the Harry talked to his brother and his father so William leaked to her and Harry only set the record straight….

      • MsIam says:

Gayle is not stupid and she has been in the game long enough and been around more than enough high profile people to know she needs permission on what to say. Harry is tired of the bullshit from his family and courtiers. That is why he said what he said directly to Gayle instead of all of this “it is thought” and “it is believed” crap. It’s why the Sussexes released the statement about the wreath directly. Harry is not playing with these folks anymore.

    • Lizzie says:

And I hope he says so to Omid. Put it out there that the family are untrustworthy.

    • Waitwhat says:

This is ultimately fan fiction from The Sun, cobbled together from assumptions and speculation. Penny Junor doesn’t know what *any* of these people are thinking, and particularly not the Queen. At this point the only real purpose to these stories is to keep the narrative going in order to drive circulation and website traffic for the tabloids and the standard of “reporting” is closer to middle school gossip than any kind of journalism.

  4. Sofia says:

Junor is a Charles mouthpiece so it’s not surprising to hear this could come from Charles. Guess somebody wasn’t happy with the “Kate the Peacemaker” headlines and wanted to insert himself into it.

    • Becks1 says:

      Bingo.

    • Elizabeth Regina says:

Yup. Kate is being put back in her box. The infighting is being taken up a notch.

      • JT says:

I think it’s a little too late to put Kate back in her box. She’s been leaking against Charles for sometime now. The press is calling her the lynchpin of the monarchy and not Charles, the actual future king. He’s been a fool in my opinion, by letting this woman and her family run their own diverging PR. It’s going to take more than this to put Kate back in her place. He’ll have to come out swinging.

      • Brielle says:

KP is better at that game than Clarence

      • Becks1 says:

KP isn’t better, Clarence House just isn’t fully engaging at this point. When they do, we’ll know it.

Remember that Charles took Camilla from one of the most hated women in the country to someone that people think is quirky and want to drink with and love her chokers and now she has a book club on IG. (which I love, I have to admit.) I think even people who haven’t fallen completely for the PR about her are still like “meh, if she makes him happy.” If he could do that to Camilla, he can do the opposite to Kate.

I think when the time comes for a Cambridge divorce, William is going to go to Charles for help.

      • Brielle says:

@Becks1 it seems to me that the Crown did a damage to that image and ppl are now angry about Charles and Camilla again plus Harry’s revelations didn’t do Charles good but maybe I’m wrong…Clarence seems to be at their best when they had Mark Boylen(I don’t remember his name precisely),the one who gave Harry to the rota(when they were listening his conversations with Chelsy),and the one who invented that drug Harry and Charles good father story….now KP is very strong, they are exchanging secretaries with 10 Downing Street ,William went to see all these senior editors of these right wing newspapers and now ppl want him to be King not Charles…in my views he is winning

      • Becks1 says:

@Brielle well CH isn’t really engaging. And I think that’s because a war with William doesnt really benefit Charles.

I do think the Crown damaged Charles’ image and his reaction to that was pretty bad (to say the least, lol) but look at his reaction to the Oprah interview. There was some talk of a point by point rebuttal, some talk he wanted to issue a stronger statement, and then he kind of went quiet. William, on the other hand, is out there pushing this…..really weird….narrative about how he is “The Other Brother” and “I have a black friend, I’m not racist!!!” His PR is floundering because it’s so desperate and obvious. So I disagree that he’s “winning,” I just think he’s louder at this point.

It will be interesting to see if we can tell a shift when the crisis PR people finally start.

      • Sid says:

Brielle, if Charles really decides to go at the Cambridges full-throttle, the Cambridges will lose. It may end up being a Pyrrhic victory for Charles, but he can absolutely do it.

      • Jaded says:

As I’ve said before, Charles is very tactical. He’s letting Can’t and Won’t sink themselves again and again. One of these days, probably after mummy makes Charles Regent or falls off her perch, they’re going to regret all the machinations, leaks and smears they were involved in because daddy has all the receipts and will quietly but efficiently bury them.

      • Christine says:

Becks1, I completely agree with you. This is a case of the squeaky wheel.

    • 2cents says:

Charles needs Harry as a leverage to dampen William’s ambitions to be the next King.

I wondered if it was Charles who advised the Queen to let Harry and William walk together in the same row to the chapel and settle “uniform-gate”? It’s clear from the optics that William hated it and he countered Charles’ action by putting his cousin Peter between him and Harry.

After church the Cambridges ambushed Harry to get their PR “peacemaker” photoshot for their tabloid friends. Charles leveled that indeed with this article leak.

I’m sure Harry is aware of his brother’s and father’s machinations to use him as their PR-playtool. It’s their sandwich tactic to influence Harry, but they don’t have control over him. In his written tribute to Philip he made clear that he is devoted to his Sussex family.

Harry is tactically sharp enough to hold his independent position while negotiating with both of them to stop smearing the Sussexes in the media through the “invisible contract” with the press.

  5. Em says:

Is anyone not asking why there was a rift in the first place? Is everyone forgetting the racism and the suicidal ideation? If Harry and Meghan keep showing up for royal events without these issues being publicly addressed then I’ll take it that they actually don’t care tbh. There’s an active bullying investigation against her, they will keep luring them back for events to push PR and if they keep accepting to go back and smile for cameras then that whole interview would have been a waste of time IMO. There needs to be a broader acknowledgment of what was done, rather than sweeping things under the rug

    • Myra says:

I made a similar comment below before I had seen yours. All the announcements were made publicly, so there should still be a public reckoning before they are all smiles and hugs and photo-ops. This is not just a family rift. There is also some serious institutional failures here that need to be acknowledged and rectified. It cannot be business-as-usual.

      • Elizabeth Regina says:

They will never acknowledge any failures or offer any apologies. Instead, they will double down and keep feeding crap to the press and this will lead to their self destruction.

    • Cecilia says:

@EM im so happy you said it.

    • Brielle says:

These people don’t care…they just want Harry back and to pretend everything is fine…I hope Meghan won’t participate on this masquerade…British people are the worst and that family and their institution are just evil

    • ABritGuest says:

And that’s the thing- the media has shifted the timeline of the feuds so that it’s about the Sussexes leaving & ‘betraying the family’ by doing Oprah. Not about the smear campaign since 2018 & all the issues that led to the exit & decision to do Oprah. The press have gone quiet on the bullying investigation announcement before Oprah too.

Harry has never said he was attending the statue unveiling- his spokesperson said months ago it was premature to speculate on travel plans & depended on things around covid etc. Possible he attends if birth plans etc allows but that would be to honour his mother just like attending funeral was about honouring his grandfather.

However the press etc are seizing on the funeral & possible statue unveiling attendance as signs of reconciliation like the issues can just be resolved after a walk. And now the widowed Liz & likely reports of her need to have family around is going to be centred, so the Sussexes & especially Meghan will be under pressure to perform forgiveness. It is very British to sweep racism under the carpet & actually the press seem to be suggesting that the Sussexes owe the firm an apology! It’s so gross & unfair.

Even if the Sussexes want acknowledgment & resolution to the issues they mentioned in the Oprah interview, notwithstanding the fact that firm don’t seem to apologise& probably don’t think they did anything wrong, they will say this isn’t the time- the queen is in mourning, family unity is the focus etc. In the meantime if the Sussexes keep their distance because their concerns aren’t being addressed- they will be judged as cold/cruel to the widowed Liz. Meanwhile the smears will continue. Sad

      • Brielle says:

But now they are in America and majority here don’t care about the British press and the vast majority here love them from what I see so why do they should care about the British press? The tabloid press with the British establishment are racist and hate Meghan so the narrative about her will never change there

      • ABritGuest says:

@Brielle the US press is still carrying some of the British press narratives. Obviously there’s the slimy Murdoch media who have had on likes of Piers Morgan on Fox & Page Six etc running the British tabloid narratives. But eg CNN had article about reconciliation which said how William needs Harry for his reign. Had no analysis of the complexities to any reconciliation incl what Meghan especially experienced.

But anyway guess we’ll see about reports after Harry returns to US.

      • BothSidesNow says:

@ A Brit Guest, of course they are changing the storyline and timeline as the men in grey suits and the royal rats 🐀 are in the business of having smeared and attacked Meghan during almost entire time in the UK.
The members of the The Firm have no intention of giving a sincere apology as they don’t think that attacking Meghan was wrong on their part so the leaks will continue and the lies will spread. As for Penny Junor, and every other royal rat reporting on what happened on Saturday is pure speculation. And Pennys comment that Harry must stay for the Queens birthday, “it’s the least he could do”, is again, placing all of the blame on Harry and declaring that what has happened was of no fault of them or the members of CH or royal family members, ie Baldimort and Keen Douchness.

    • TeamMeg says:

Exactly. The angle that isn’t covered enough relates to what was actually said in the interview, rather than the fact that an interview (explosive! tell-all! betrayal!) took place. To me, the primary villain who emerged in the HMO interview was the British tabloid press. They are the ones who blew up the “Meghan Made Kate Cry” story BS. They are the ones who published all the racist headlines and Meghan-hating articles, and amplified all the bigoted reader comments, driving Meghan to the point of wanting to DIE. That’s F*cked up!!

True, the BRF didn’t step up to correct the narrative, and they should have, absolutely, found a way. Inexcusable. But the tabloids created this monster. And the tabs want revenge. I don’t see Harry and Meghan wanting to drag out the fight, using Gayle King as a mouthpiece. They said their peace, they have more important things to do—for the benefit of humanity, not to mention a new baby on the way!—and they are moving on. Harry went to the funeral. He’ll probably stay for the Queen’s birthday, then fly back home thank god—I’m sure he can’t wait!

    • MsIam says:

This was not a “royal event” it was a funeral. Big difference. And Harry came for his grandmother, not for his father and brother. That is who he has an issue with, rightly or wrongly. In Harry’s mind at least, his grandmother doesn’t seem to be in control any more so he’s not blaming her. Since he actually lived in that household, I’ll take his word for it.

    • Chica says:

@em not just a waste of time, but also damaging to their credibility. Saw a comment on Twitter that said something to the effect that Family or not, his family represents an institution. They confirmed for the world that it’s still a racist institution. Archewell is promoting anti- racist endeavors as part of its mission, a black woman allowing herself to directly or indirectly promote a false narrative of the RF having become suddenly anti racist and more welcoming to her and her children w/out public atonement (in light of publicly smearing her and rejecting her), by being in their company in excess of funerals, there he helping to restore the name of the RF/monarchy, will be most damaging to Meghan. That cannot be underestimated. That’s what they opened up the world to. The support she gained in the black community…she can damage that if she wants to, but it will be to her detriment. That can’t just be walked back bc they just highlighted the fact the Monarchy has yet to apologize to commonwealth nations for their colonization and pillaging of their wealth and resources.

  6. Keke says:

    They never learn.

  7. Myra says:

How can they ever move forward if Charles and William are not willing to acknowledge their complicity? How could you even begin to forgive someone who put the lives of your wife and child(ren) at risk? These same people loudly announced an investigation into allegations of bullying against Meghan but faintly denounced allegations of racism. Being cordial is one thing, but I really wouldn’t trust any of them. Not Charles and definitely not William.

  8. L84Tea says:

I just can’t with these people. The entire weekend with Harry seen chatting with them and now Kate getting all this praise for it has left me feeling really annoyed and grossed out. Uncomfortable even. I really hope Harry just goes home soon. I’m sick of those ghouls all trying to sponge off of him to save their own butts. I really despise them.

    • BothSidesNow says:

@ L84Tea, I am with you. It’s so disgusting that they are trying to change narrative so that they are seen as the true victims. The unmitigated smear campaign against Meghan and Harry are unforgivable.
Again we see Harry being the bigger man of the entire bunch, including Meghan also being the bigger person, yet they refuse to allow them any peace no matter where they are or what they are doing. They will always fault Harry and Meghan only because they refuse to play the game and they had to resort to saving themselves.

  9. Becks1 says:

Wait, so is Charles the Great Peacemaker or is it Kate??? Can these RRs get their story straight?

I’m not surprised if there was a talk, but I also think that the hopes of “the rift being healed” completely overlook the reason for the rift. Harry isn’t mad at William bc William was rude to him once. Harry is mad at William because he enabled and participated in a racist smear campaign against his wife. And as long as William continues to do that, Harry isn’t going to forgive.

    • equality says:

I’d say Charles is the peacemaker for himself. He’s obviously not worried about William coming across well because this article makes sure to stress that Will is the one the big split is with. Neither Kate nor Charles did anything major in walking or talking with Harry. I’m sure the after-funeral plan was always to meet up at the palace. If they want to “leak” and be effective in peacemaking, they need to leak something denying all the nasty articles that came out about Meghan.

    • TheOriginalMia says:

Kate definitely wasn’t the peacemaker. She & mommy are still weaponizing her tears through Camilla Tominey. It also isn’t Charles because while Harry is disappointed in him, they aren’t at war. The brothers may not have thrown hands at the funeral, but there will be no forgiveness as long as William continues to be a disrespectful twat to Meghan. Harry can be cordial in public and still be wary of his brother’s backstabbing ways.

    • Amy Bee says:

@Becks1: There were no actual talks. The entire family just had the usual gathering that people have after a funeral.

  10. Harper says:

It’s in Charles’ best interest to get the word out that he was talking to Harry this weekend. I doubt that any conversation, if it happened, included William, whose anti-Sussex propaganda has only been put on pause due to Philip’s death. Will’s going to have to feed the Wooten beast after Harry leaves but remember, it’s a new era of push-back from the Sussexes. Out of respect for the Queen, Harry most likely won’t retaliate right now other than a pointed statement here and there clarifying anything too egregious.

  11. smee says:

Hope Harry was wearing a wire for this convo 😀

  12. Couch potato says:

Oh yeah! They had a god looong talk about racism and bullying while mingling with their family right after their father/grandfathers funeral. How tone deaf must one be to even suggest that.

  13. Amy Bee says:

Both the Sun and the Daily Mail are trying the trick the public into thinking that there were talks between William and Harry and Charles brought them together. The reality is the family gathered in the quadrangle for two hours after the funeral and William and Harry was there. There was no reconciliation and the family is still unwilling to face up to the wrongs they did to Harry and Meghan.

So for the stans who were upset that Harry was cordial to William and Kate, you can be at ease that nothing really came of them walking together and Harry hasn’t betrayed Meghan by being mannerly at a funeral. Unlike Kate, Harry has impeccable manners as we also saw at the Commonwealth Day service.

    • Snuffles says:

That scenario makes the most sense.

    • Cecilia says:

How do you know? Where you there? And it was never about betraying meghan. It was about how it looks and how it wil be used against meghan. For all we know harry told kate to F off. But it doesn’t matter now does it? I can be spun whichever way the royals want it to be spun

      • Amy Bee says:

@cecilia: As Meghan said, everything is not always what it seems. Harry being cordial to his brother and wife on the day they buried their grandfather was not an issue for stans to be up in arms about and as it turns out nothing really came from them leaving the church together.

      • Jaded says:

Have you ever been to the funeral of a family member? I have. Several times. Protocol is that after the funeral, family gets together to reminisce about their loved one, to have a cup of tea or glass of champagne, a nibble of something, a polite chat. I’m sure that is exactly what happened and no peace accord was brokered by anyone. The media will extract their pound of flesh but guaranteed it will be based on nothing more substantial than hearsay. Maybe William and Kate will leak their peacekeeper bullshit but by now most intelligent people know it’s nothing but hyperbole.

  14. Indywom says:

I guess I am trying to figure out why people are still so salty about Harry and Meghan. They left the UK, they get no support from taxpayers. Who the heck wants to play second fiddle to his brother for the rest of his life like Margaret did to Elizabeth? i think it is great that he wants to go his own way. I think his mother would be proud if his choices, and I think Prince Phillip probably respected him for his decisions. Besides it is not his fault that Kate and William have no charisma, no fresh ideas and are lazy to boot. Except of the racism part, Meghan did not say anything differently than Diana and Fergie about the royal family.

  15. Well Wisher says:

William is in charge. The reportage is no accident. He wants his supply and target so bad. Harry has to mentally separate himself to survive. This is worse than it seems. Charles, like Harry trust William and it will end in tears. All William wants is to continue to abuse Harry, whether by taking credit for his work, control his finances, his love life etc. Harry needs to see a therapist. With the utmost respect, this is narcissisism in full display. How did the gaslighting with/without the press went unnoticed, all the threats leading up to the first year review? cut off funding ? pull security? threats to banishment from family leading up to the funeral? He envies and despises his brother.

He has announced a co-monarchy by calling a summit to probably amend the King George V Patent Papers to disinherit Harry? and his children? to ensure a reduction of work load for the two charm challenged and work shy royals.

The future of the monarchy is f*cked.

This is about POWER to abuse. All his life he defined himself as being better looking and smarter than his brother, that preception assuaged his insecurity and lack of courage.
But the trusting brother surpassed him in charm, looks and work ethic but especially in getting the girl. In actual fact, Harry grew up, he matured and did the work, he learnt how to love and attract a suitable partner. Bill had the same opportunity and coasted on his minute charm, lost all the women that he found attractive and marry the daughter of status anxious Carol Middleton. The class snobs look like geniuses.

Kate will cut the ground from under one, she has to be Queen Consort. Mommy needs a title and most importantly, she is allergic to work. Fear brought in the tabloid press now the telegraph’s Camilla.

After Harry left, the mistakes began. In the process of healing , they spoke openly about Meghan’s trauma. There is a quote from Zora Neale Hurston – ” If you are silent about your pain, they’ll kill you and say you enjoyed it. ”
Part of the hectoring about the interview, the money and interest it generated. The fear of the BTM. Their definition of a person is not the final say, it is up to the critical thinking mind.
I will add Hurston quote – ” Those that don’t got it, can’t show it. Those that got it, can’t hide it.

Charles will rue the day. Aii those people who do not understand dysfunction and does not care about Harry will want a reconciliation at all costs. A hard pill to swallow, but bring in Andrew, pompous and flawed, but cares more about the future of the monarchy.
    Use what you got.
Find a Christopher Geisht type administrator and delegate. Reinstate the members of the Commonwealth Trust?
Use the available family members and delegate the power among them with accountability to minimize human error.
Concentrate on moving forward and find allies in spheres of influence to deal with the power of the press. Encourage democracy and civic participation.
In other words be a CEO, one that actually understands an organizational chart.
Finally listen to you son, let him love as he wishes.
Harry continue to resolve life’s challenges with love. Let love rule. You had the wisedom to know when to leave and courage to do so. You have the blessings from the people who matter. Stay resolute.
Bill and Kate- “Crickets” and kick rocks.

      Great comments!

My question is, why has the entire family and institution allowed Bill to become like this? Why has NO ONE ever stood up to him and/or told him off? Why have they allowed him to get away with so much? And if they know that Harry is crucial to William’s reign and thus the future of the institution (be it as a workhorse, a scapegoat, whatever) why did they not tell Bill to back down? In other words, why have they allowed Bill’s narcissism free reign at the expense of the future of the monarchy?

@Emile Probably b/c people always kowtow to the heir. Sycophants.

Normally after a funeral the family gather for a meal sometimes referred to as a repast. I doubt if this was a private father and sons meeting. It’s reported that Charles and William are discussing a slim downed monarchy which means the Sussex are not in the negotiations; they are done. The Queen due to ciovid restrictions will see family members in small herds. BM reaching as usual.

    • Brielle says:

The Sussex left the royal family since March 2020,and now live in Montecito and Harry is working in corporate America and they have lucrative deals with Netflix and Spotify so why should they be concerned about a slimmed down monarchy?what are you talking about?the ones who should be concerned are the Wessex…your point makes no sense

      • Jaded says:

@Brielle – No need to be so aggressive, RSamuels makes a good point. Charles has often alluded to a slimmed down monarchy – there are numerous royals who don’t need to be on the civil list, they’re the ones who will be targeted. The Wessexes will continue doing what they do – Sophie is close to the Queen and actually works hard. The Sussexes will not be in any negotiations, they’ve made it quite clear they are not coming back into the fold. The fact that William is said to be in discussions with Charles about a so-called slimming down of the BRF is risible – he and his lazy-ass wife do the barest minimum of work so they’re going to have to up their game big time once covid restrictions are lifted. My guess is Charles, once Regent or King, is going to set out a work plan for them that they will have to adhere to whether they like it or not. The future of the monarchy rests on them doing what they’re paid to do – work for their subjects, not vice versa.

    • Lizzie says:

They reported that the queen was allowed to invite 15 to visit with her after the funeral, covid restrictions allow. I assume she would invite those who travelled to be there for sure, like Harry and the German cousins.

    • Brielle says:

I am not aggressive…I am just not understanding what she is implying by saying that that the Sussex are done and not in the negotiations…but the Sussexes were ahead of the curve and left…Harry understood clearly when they didn’t help him and did that ‘heir photoshoot’ that his family with Meghan was not part of the slimmed down monarchy…the ones concerned are the Wessex…

  17. RedWeatherTiger says:

They’re setting Harry up: if he stays for Betty’s birthday, he has chosen his “true family” over That Hollywood Star. If he doesn’t stay for Betty’s birthday, he is disrespecting the queen–again!– because of That Hollywood Star.

I hope this is okay on this thread…it occurs to me that maybe it should be on the When Is Harry Leaving thread? If so, I apologize.

    • Lizzie says:

I think this is true of every move/word from Harry or Meghan. Darned if they do, darned if they don’t.

  18. Over it says:

Before I read, just from looking at the top picture, Harry is by far the best looking. And he is definitely looking at his father. Now I am off to read this.

    • Sid says:

Yup. With him it appears the Spencer and Mountbatten genes clobbered the Windsor genes and saved his looks. The hair might be going, but he’s not getting the jowly jawline like William.

    • Pix says:

I was thinking the same thing. For a family, all of these men look so different from each other. Charles, Andrew and the other one don’t look a lick alike. Their features and bone structure are so different for one family. This looks like a group of strangers, but Harry really looked like his grandfather when he was young.

  19. Over it says:

It angers me how these people claim to care about Harry and his happiness but can be so dismissive and disrespectful to his wife and by extension his children. If they gave a toss about Harry as a person they would act right and Baldimort and Chucky and the rest of that mentally unstable bunch of racist abusers would say sorry and call off their royal media attack dogs in the uk and Australia.

  20. NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

They existed in the same castle for 2 hours is more like it.

I do think Charles is taking over. And I do think he is doing his best at putting The Great Feud out the public’s mind. Behind the scenes? Nothing has changed. But I also don’t think Harry and Meghan will ever speak publicly about their time within the Royal Family ever again. I do think Charles and his press team saw the opportunity to move beyond this and took it. Now there will be nothing but silence, Harry will return to California, and I would bet we will only see him a handful of times in England while Elizabeth’s alive and then never again. I don’t think Harry is looking back but I do think PWT’s ability to throw press temper tantrums is about to be highly curtailed.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

NotSoSimpleTaylor, I hope you’re right that PWT’s press temper tantrums are about to be curtailed. I can see H&M continuing to sue when appropriate. That’s when they will drop their receipts, which I believe will be highly damaging to the brf. Even if PWT isn’t bright enough to understand that, I think PC is. It should be quite interesting going forward. The real question at that point is: Can they control the BM and the leaks from the palaces. “Cause if the leaks continue from the worker bees, it’s going to get ugly,

      • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

One thing that I do know is that Charles has long wanted to streamline the press offices into a single office for the entire family instead of one for each palace. Back in 2001, Charles’ office began consulting with the Scandanavian palaces about how they run things as none of the palaces have a ton of staff, it’s more historical gatekeeping, museum type of history at Amaleinbörg. Now mind you, it’s different being a royal for a smaller country like Denmark or Sweden vs most of the English-speaking world but I think his mind is in the right place. Regardless, there was never any reason for Charles or William to have their own press secretary. I think Philip knew that and I think Charles is learning the hard way that it was a mistake to give PWT a press office.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

I almost forgot! Who is going to be able to control the Mids? I think they’re still going to be in play, but I don’t know if anyone can shut them down at this point. Another mistake the brf made was letting that family full rein. Idiots!

I had another comment, but clearly I didn’t something that it didn’t post. I hope that NotSoSimlpleTaylor is right and thinks calm down with the BM. I don’t believe H&M will just let them write what they want. If they have to file a future lawsuit, they WILL show their receipts. I believe that will be very damaging to the brf. Let’s hope they have enough control of all of those palace leaks, or things are going to get ugly.

      • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

I don’t think you can but I do think William has the power to control what the Middletons do and can ask them to stop. I also think Charles has zero love for Carole and now that it seems like we’re getting a “soft regency” I expect that Charles will make sure they do fall in line and if they don’t, I think he knows where Carole’s bodies are buried as much as Carole AND Charles know about William. But I think the onus should be on FFK William. He created the mess with the Middletons, he needs to learn how to get out of it.

      • Gabby says:

I would imagine that we are due soon for a decision on whether the DM / Assoc Newspapers will be able to appeal the judge’s summary decision that went to Meghan’s favor. The Sussexes are probably lying low as far as reacting to the media until that happens.

      • Monster Carole should take a sit, shut up, and be put in her place. She’s grown too big for her britches.

Do you know how big that place is?
    2 hours?

.30minutes to walk and manouver from on place to another before entering the car.
    .15 minutes toilet break
. 30 minutes civilies reception drinking and mingling.
. 30 minutes To set up a meeting because of the carnival of experts love them ceremonial protocol.
. 30minutes to be soothe willie because he was in tantrum mode.

That was not enough time for a meeting. Who is this source anyway? The security man at the gate?
