Lupin season two is coming out next month and there’s a new trailer

Netflix and Disney+ kept us entertained over lockdown. Netflix released several foreign language shows that were absolutely amazing and helped me brush up on some of my Spanish and French. Many of us fell in love with Lupin, starring Senegalese-French actor Omar Sy. Lupin was so good that it was the first French language show to break Netflix’s Top 10 in the U.S. It beat The Queen’s Gambit viewership and was viewed by over 70 million households in its first 28 days. People love a great show and subtitles and dubbing are not a deterrent to that. The good news is that Lupin is coming back. Netflix dropped the trailer and the release date earlier this week. Lupin part two will be returning to our screens on June 11. Below is more information and a synopsis of the show via Just Jared:

The Netflix show, starring Omar Sy, will debut five more episodes on the streaming service on June 11, 2021.

Here’s a synopsis for the second half of the season: Assane’s quest for revenge against Hubert Pelligrini has torn his family to pieces. With his back to the wall, he now has to think of a new plan, even if it means putting himself in danger.

Watch the trailer below:

I personally love Omar Sy. The man is absolutely beautiful. I did watch the first two episodes of Lupin and then the Texas freeze happened and I never got back to watching the other episodes. Seeing that part two is about to drop in less than a month is giving me all the motivation to finish up the series. I guess I will be watching Angelina Jolie on HBOMax and Omar Sy on Netflix this weekend. The cinematography in the Lupin trailer and plot synopsis seem even better than part one. I am sure they filmed both parts at the same time but the editing makes this seem like a whole new show. Lupin reminded me so much of my favorite heist movies like Ocean’s Eleven and The Italian Job. I also appreciated traveling through Paris through the eyes of the characters. I am looking forward to finishing Lupin this weekend and seeing part two next month. I’ll also get to brush up on my French. There’s a hot Haitian guy that I know (he also speaks French and not just Creole) who I want to impress.

Yay! This makes me so happy. I loved the first season 🙂

I binged the whole first season over the weekend. It’s SO good but I’m getting anxious at the thought of a storyline about Assane’s child being in danger.

I loved the first season, but it drove me absolutely nuts when the main character and his accomplice both failed to create a copy of their evidence. I was literally screaming at my tablet. You go to all that trouble and don’t even have a backup copy?? These are supposed to be intelligent characters?? I was stunned and disappointed.

I agree. I liked the show but that was so implausible and maddening and almost nonsensical. Good show but a bit of a plot hole.

Parts 1 and 2 were shot at the same time but I think they decided to release them separately to create more buzz for the show. I can’t tell you how surprised I am that this show was as good as it is. I speak fluent French and have from birth though I’ve never lived in France (my dad is from France). I saw the trailer a few months before the show dropped and I admit I wasn’t impressed. I was thinking “This looks terrible but maybe it might be good??”

My family and I had a blast watching it and we absolutely freaked out in the last episode of Part 1 where Assane’s son gets kidnapped because that scene took place in the incredibly picturesque and classic Normandy town Etretat. You’ve likely seen Monet’s paintings of Etretat, he did a whole series of them. My father is from Normandy (Rouen) so whenever we see Normandy on our screens and it is not some American WWII documentary we get excited. I have been there as a kid and we visited the Arsene Lupin Museum/Maurice Leblanc house (the author of the Arsene Lupin novels) which was a lot of fun years ago. If you love Lupin and are scheduling a trip to France post COVID, I highly suggest visiting Etretat! You can see the beautiful Normandy cliffs and visit the Arsene Lupin museum and the beach.

    Got my wine.
    Got my snacks.

Can’t wait! Omar Sy is fantastic and Lupin is such an engaging story and romp it’s easy to overlook some of the plot holes.

  8. Amy Bee says:

I’ve been waiting for the release date for this. Part 1 was so good.

  9. BeanieBean says:

I had read about this show, but somehow missed seeing the trailers. Wowzers! I’m in! Gotta see season 1, maybe read the book/s, & wait for season 2.

So excited for this! Omar Sy is a fantastic leading man and the first series was easily the best thing that Netflix has put out in quite a while. Can’t wait!

  11. MissMarirose says:

If you like Omar Sy, watch The Intouchables, which is also on Netflix. It’s a really good movie, Sy is incredible, and it’s based on a true story.

  12. Elisabeth Dudo says:

I’d love Omar Sy to play 007 James Bond!!!

  13. Lizzythe2 says:

I loved this show. I had never heard of the character before. Learning about Lupin as the son was discovering the story was a great touch. Seeing Paris apart from the tourist places also was a plus. Glad to hear it’s coming back.

*Thank you* for reminding me Lupin is on my watch list. I missed this when it first came out. Gotta watch season 1!!
