New book claims Michelle Obama is disturbed by Barack’s female fans

President Obama, First Lady host Olympic event at White House

I’ve been reading advance coverage of this new book, Barack and Michelle: Portrait of a American Marriage all day, and I’m not a happy camper. While I don’t doubt some of the material being released from the book, I find other parts to be very sketchy. The author of the book is Christopher Andersen, and he’s not any kind of authorized biographer. From what I can tell, he’s one of those legitimate journalists who tends towards writing soap-operatic-style biographies of prominent women. Looking at his previous works, I see three books about Princess Diana and her sons, two books on Hillary Clinton, two about Jackie Kennedy, and one about Caroline Kennedy. He tends towards two different types of research-driven books: first, [Blank] and [Blank]: Portrait of a Marriage; and second, The Day [Blank] Died. Half of his books fit into those two categories, I swear.

According to Andersen, during the campaign, Michelle Obama was really pissed off with all of the women who “pushed their bodies up against [Barack], slipped phone numbers into his pockets” and whispered things to him. Michelle was not only mad at the women, she would often give Barack the silent treatment:

When your husband is the most sought-after figure in the Free World, how do you handle female admirers grab-happy for his behind?

First Lady Michelle Obama allegedly says, “Get a life” – at least according to author Christopher Andersen in his new book, Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage.

Writing about first couple’s very public relationship and the flood of the Mr. Obama’s very over-eager female fans on the campaign trail, Andersen states – as was first reported by the New York Post – that on a number of occasions, Barack Obama would hide his shock and surprise when women would reach for him, allegedly professing, “Jesus, I wish they’d stop grabbing my ass.”

Understandably upset, Mrs. Obama had words of her own for her husband’s admirers. “I want to tell these women, ‘Back off, get a life’, ” Andersen quotes her as saying. “It’s just embarrassing, that’s all.”

When it came to all the attention her husband received from the ladies, Michelle reportedly said, “He’s loving it. He’s a man, isn’t he?”

And while the book claims that at the time these situations would push the First Lady to give the President the silent treatment, Andersen quotes a source as also suggesting that Michelle personally managed to help remove a particular campaign worker from Barack’s orbit once the working relationship had grown closer than she liked.

A White House spokeswoman declined comment.

[From People]

I wish I could hear Obama say the words, “Jesus, I wish they’d stop grabbing my ass.” As far as the report about this campaign staffer that Michelle was worried about, Page Six had more from Andersen’s book, where he says that the rumors indicated “that it was more than just the random flirting from strangers that was getting to Michelle. Her husband, it would later be reported, had grown close to an attractive young African-American woman [working for the Obama campaign] named Vera Baker. When Baker suddenly and inexplicably vanished from the campaign and resurfaced on the Caribbean island of Martinique, tongues reportedly began wagging. A jealous Michelle, it was suggested, had engineered Baker’s departure.” Baker went on to tell a reporter, “Nothing happened . . . I don’t have anything to say.” What’s more likely, that Obama was nice to a girl who got a crush, and then got fired, or that Michelle engineered something sinister? I tend to think Michelle wouldn’t tolerate anything like that – and Barack knows it.

    I would be too :/

  2. Sassy says:

It’s bound to happen…he’s young, good looking and has a great personality….if this is true, she had to have known it was inevitable….

  3. QB says:

Is normal for a women to be piss off when other female grab and give their phone number to their husband.

Big deal they have a normal marriage.

  4. mel says:

I can tell First Lady Michelle runs a tight ship. Dont mess with her man. LOL!

  5. Iris says:

    I love this woman.

  6. Sudini says:

Who are these a**holes that think it’s ok to grab at/give their numbers to a very obviously married man?

What the f*ck ever. That just pisses me off and I hope they end up running into themselves eventually.

    Go Michelle!

  7. Leticia says:

I don’t like for women to hit on my husband either.

  8. Praise St. Angie! says:

“Who are these a**holes that think it’s ok to grab at/give their numbers to a very obviously married man?”

    amen, sudini. it’s pretty disgusting.

  9. Heidi Ho says:

It annoys me, too, when women do it to my fiance; hit on him, that is. They know he’s in love and engaged, yet it doesn’t stop them from making plays for him and even, in some cases, borderline stalking him.

It’s ridiculous. Michelle was right to send this woman to an island. Women seem to think it’s okay to behave like this with married men. They justify it by saying that, if he goes for it, he’s not happy with his wife. I assure you, these same women will never by happily married because they understand neither the nature of marriage nor the human condition.

yeah, I hate scandalous bitches too

  11. V says:

This is one of the reasons why my friend swore she’d never date a pro athlete ever again. All day long you see women at their worst. Constantly being told how lucky and grateful YOU should be to have HIM in your life. And always watching your back. I’m glad Michelle handled this situation (if that’s what indeed happened), and that she married a man of character. Although, I find this all suspect since it didn’t hit mainstream media or the blogosphere. There were rumblings about John Edwards back in February. I think he was even a blind item on crazydaysandnight.

I am uncomfortable with the very existence of this book. If it was the end of Barack’s term instead of the beginning, I might feel better. But this author is sketchy, for sure.

I won’t be reading this one.

  13. TaylorB says:

Some women, and men for that matter, are just obsessed with the rich and/or powerful and the marital status of the object of their obsession is of no matter to them. That being said, having seen Michelles arms it stands to reason it is best to keep ones hands off her husband, I suspect she could deliver quite the butt kicking if she wanted to.

  14. Kelly says:

Michelle strikes me as a confident down to earh woman who is above petty jealousy. Barack seems to be an ethical man with much dignity. Having said that, I think she should kick to the curb bimbos grabbing her man’s ass!

  15. Rachel says:

Obama cute? Maybe? Most women who are attracted to stars and politicians are more in love with these guys wallets and cameras, not the man.

And as for Michelle supposedly kicking these women, why isn’t Obama doing this first? I’m all for protecting your man, but he’s got to show respect for her (if said rumor is true, which during the campaign I have serious doubts as fear of violent racists was too real to risk, even with women)

  16. hmm says:

If it’s true, I love her even more. I am tired of reading about political wives or celebrity wives who hold their noses while this mess goes on. She is a real woman who values her husband and her marriage and doesn’t put up with any bs. Yay Michelle.

  17. Andrea says:

If it’s true Michelle is entirely justified. Some women can be such savages. If I were to ever work on a political campaign I’d keep away from the husband and stay professional. It’s hard enough for the wife anyway.

  18. LL says:

Just look at the faces of “ordinary” people that manage to get close to the President, or a star for that matter. Male or female, they always look like they are going to wet their pants with the idolation of it all. They’re nuts. She is one strong woman if she can tolerate the BS that is going to go on for his term(s) of office.

  19. Giz says:

Sounds like someone is trying to set Obama up!

  20. Jules says:

Actually the story about the campaign worker is old news to me. That info was out there before the election. Whether that particular incident is true or not, you don’t think this man has secrets? Really? He’s so ‘above it all’? And you think Michelle wouldn’t tolerate it…yeah maybe not if she knew about it.

  21. Yae says:

Giz, you’ll be accused of having a “conspiracy theory”. (Laughs)

Actually I find Michelle’s protective, strong, and natural female role very refreshing to the usually submissive-trained examples we’ve had in the past.

  22. Sana says:

    She is beautiful.

  23. RobN says:

I can’t stand her, but in a similar circumstance I would do exactly the same thing.

  24. xploxite says:

AT the same time that He’s soooooooooo hottttttttt & good looking, he’s soooooooooooooo trustable & first lady doesn’t have anything to worry about, i trust our president in every way possible with anything, he’s a veryyyyyyyyyyyy good man.

  25. Ursula says:

I would too. I know those women who hang around your man and smile even when he says nothing funny. I cannot blame Michelle for something I would do.

  26. Lway says:

I’d be too. I love Michelle. She’s a wonderful lady.

Funny how when a man gets celebtrity status evey skank suddenly wants to bang him? It’s crazy

  27. Tia says:

People are ALWAYS saying she is not attractive at all, and that he is approached by beautiful women all the time. Love is not about looks. He is a successful, handsome man, and women don’t care about someone else in the way. That makes it every more exciting to them. I see it all the time.

  28. For Sooth? says:

I don’t blame her. Every woman would like to put a protective “He’s mine!” bubble around her man. But this is what happens when you set yourself up as rock star. Bubba still glories in rock star status. I’m sure he still gets plenty of airhead – worshipping nookie.

  29. sickofit says:

it must be hard for barack obama seeing every women wanting him. but it is even harder for his wive. so i go with michelle.
something similar happened to me and my husband. i did not have the guts to tell that girl to back off my man. she was my friend then. this is a though issue.

  30. teiara buford says:

they just make her seem like an evil black woman.im a black woman and its hard to find a good black man like barack so i understand why michelle would say that. like hell yeah get a life can’t you see that ring on his hand and his wife next to him.and by him saying’jesus i wish they would stop grabbing my ass” i would be super pissed off like shut up. But it would be a diffrent story if men called themselves grabbing at michelles butt and slipping numbers in her pocket.Barack would be in jail messing around trying to kick there butts. so i understand why she would be mad hel id be like dont touch,look at me because apparently you enjoy this
