well, that sucks. I like her music. Bought both her albums….
Apparently her spokesperson quickly put out a statement saying she’s not re-negotiating her contract “yet” She’s acting in a Neil LaBute play next.
I think she was just reacting to the criticism railed against her on the Blog she set up. I was following the Blog, she wrote to a lot of other artists to get support for anti file sharing then she published the email replies sent to her by other artists.
The sh!t hit the fan when it was discovered that she’d done a cut and paste job with her initial statement,(she stole it from another website) and the original author of that statement commented on her Blog all in good humor, then it reached the media and she looked like a fool.
She effectively pirated the work of another writer without giving him credit. Oh the irony!

Then someone on the blog revealed that SHE had released MP3’s of herself covering other artist’s songs a few years ago on her own website. Twice. Distributing them. Illegally. To the masses. Without asking the Artist’s permission. You know, pirating the damn things.

Its really ironic that in her condemnation of people who had no intention of profiting from shared music, Lily has been not only caught pirating in the real sense of the word, but also unintentionally disproving her own argument against the practice (it makes it hard for new artists to emerge).
Sorry for the long post guys, but I’m glad I got that off my chest.:-)
