Wootton: Prince William believes Harry’s behavior is ‘shameful & tasteless’

Prince Harry greets the crowds outside Windsor Castle on the evening before his wedding to Meghan Markle

Prince Harry’s spokesperson ran around for a full 24 hours to brief certain outlets about Harry’s memoir. The spokesperson insists that Harry “spoke privately with the royal family regarding the book’s publication very recently” even though “Harry would not be expected to obtain permission from Buckingham Palace for the project.” I notice Harry and his people are being very careful with what they say about who Harry told, because it clearly was not his father. It’s also notable that Buckingham Palace isn’t commenting on the issue beyond “Any clarification about the book would be a question for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.” Meaning, there will be no on-the-record statements from BP for the moment. Now, off-the-record briefings? Sure. Of course. Which brings me to Dan Wootton, the self-styled Cambridge insider who uses his platform as a Daily Mail columnist to spew hatred at the Duchess of Sussex and write creepy love letters to Prince William. Wootton has a new column about Harry’s memoir and he spoke to several unnamed “insiders.” Some highlights:

Harry torpedoed his chance at reconciling with his family: Multiple royal insiders tell me that there is a ‘growing sense of shock and fury’ among the royal palaces and Harry’s own family members about his book plan. ‘This is the no going back moment – the final nail in the coffin of the Royal Family’s relationship with Harry,’ a senior royal source tells me. ‘The emotional turmoil as they wait over a year for publication is going to be torturous.’

Impossible to fight back!! What has angered courtiers most is that Harry and Meghan know, whatever they say in the book, Prince Charles and Prince William, as heirs to the throne, will find it almost impossible to fight back.

Charles didn’t know: Insiders close to the Prince of Wales have confirmed he did not know about Harry’s book, even though he has been working on it for the past year. Another source explains: ‘Prince Charles didn’t know anything about it. This is really painful, it’s going to be difficult for him to take. The assumption is that he will take another kicking from Harry. The real disappointing thing for Charles is that he used to get on with Harry so well, actually far better than William. He feels so let down by the whole thing.’

Harry might pop off about Camilla: Clarence House is also believed to be worried about what Harry might write about his stepmother Camilla. The source adds: ‘Let’s be honest, Harry has never been close to the Duchess of Cornwall. If he documents their fraught relationship in the book it could be very damaging at a time when Charles is laying the groundwork for her to become Queen.’

Courtiers do not believe a rapprochement with William is possible now. A royal insider says: ‘This is the end of any close relationship with the Duke of Cambridge. There’s nothing more that can be said on that front. William believes his behaviour is shameful and tasteless. Harry’s been going around to people saying he can’t remember his childhood and his mother that much. Now he’s going to write a book about it. How does that stack up? What’s really telling is even the relatives he remains closest to, like princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, are stunned by what he’s up to.’

What kind of damage could Harry do? A royal insider explains: ‘This is nothing like Andrew Morton’s biography of Princess Diana or Jonathan Dimbleby’s of Prince Charles – this is coming from the horse’s mouth. Harry will have to take ownership of every word forever more. There’s no room for deniability. So in terms of the monarchy, this is massive. It’s going to have a big impact. But what’s the worst he can say? Will he name the so-called ‘royal racist’? There’s a lot of worry about that.’

2022 was supposed to be the Windsors’ year: ‘First and foremost, it’s the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. That’s what matters most. But it’s also Prince William’s 40th birthday and the 25th anniversary of the death of Princess Diana. With that mix, it should have been a really positive year for the Royal Family. But Harry clearly doesn’t care. He’s acting like a child. We need to remember he’s a nearly 37-year-old man, not a 21-year-old. He’s on the cusp of middle age.’

Whether Harry will donate his advance to charity: My royal source says: ‘Surely Harry has to make it clear if that advance is going to charity too. Because otherwise the proceeds from the book will be much lower given it has to first cover the costs of such a massive advance.’

Harry is rich now: One royal source explains: ‘There’s a lot going on among the family at the moment. A shifting of the power bases following the death of Prince Philip, with Prince Charles and Prince William both solidifying their power. But Harry doesn’t give a damn. He’s there to do what’s right for him. He no longer cares about how his actions impact the monarchy. He went to California with the sole goal of showing that he will never need to rely on his family for money again – and he’s proven that beyond any doubt.’

[From The Daily Mail]

Let’s do a list!

1. “The final nail in the coffin of the Royal Family’s relationship with Harry” – they’ve been saying that since the Sussexit. The hyperbole has been off the charts since January 2020. No one cares.

2. Charles and William “will find it almost impossible to fight back” – except that they spent the past month telling us that they’re abandoning “never complain, never explain” because William wants to go full clown-show to combat the Sussexes. Will and Chaz are very clearly – in Wootton’s own column – fighting back.

3. Harry might attack Camilla! Harry doesn’t give a sh-t about Camilla at this point. Her name wasn’t even mentioned in the Oprah interview. And if Harry does make a reference to his father’s philandering or Camilla’s role in the gaslighting of Diana, then who cares. We all know that sh-t anyway.

4. “William believes his behaviour is shameful and tasteless.” Yes, Harry should just behave like an Elegant Other Brother and stick his wandering sceptre into any married rose bush.

5. “Will he name the so-called ‘royal racist’? There’s a lot of worry about that.” They’re worried because they are all racists. They’re worried that Harry will name every last one of them.

6. “He’s acting like a child” in the same breath we’re talking about how important it is for Baldingham to have all of the attention on his big-boy 40th birthday, R U serious.

7. Why do “royal sources” care what Harry does with his book advance? He’s under zero obligation to even give the book profits to charity.

LMAO they all were worried about Meghan writing books only for Harry to do all the talking! He’s going to hurt all of their feelings and I AM HERE FOR IT!!!! SEEEEEETHE! 😂😂😂

    • Scorpion says:

I know right 😂😂😂🤭, let the good times roll.

      • lalisa says:

Karma has a name and it’s Henry Mountbatten Windsor 😂😂😂Now it’s them that has to deal with really shitty PR in the long run (no matter how much the RR try to twist this it’s not going to win over the younger crowd bc most of their base are conservative regardless)

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

It’s literally going to be TORTURE for them. The funniest thing, it’s like that “game” you play as a child, when someone does something to “get” you, and then waits for you to “get them” back. Except you don’t. And the expectation of it, the torturous *waiting* for it to happen, at *any* time, is almost worse than anything you would actually *do*.

THIS is what the 🐀s and the Racist Royals are going to go through in this next year. It will KILL them not knowing. And I LOVE it!

      • Lucky Charm says:

@ (TheOG) Jan90067 – as a teenager I got into trouble and my dad told me to go wait in my room for my punishment. The more time that passed the more agonizing the wait got. My imagination ran wild. By bedtime I was a nervous wreck and wishing he’d just get it over with so I could move on. The next morning at breakfast I asked him if he was going to punish me and he said he already did. The waiting and dreading of something that never came was the worst punishment of my life.

    • PEARL GREY says:

They’ve been undermining Harry all his life and are obsessed with pushing the Jezebel narrative that Meghan is the disruptive one pulling his strings. If anything, Meghan is probably the one having to rein him in and talk him down from going full scorched earth.

But if His Elegance thinks Harry writing a book about his own life is shameful and tasteless, then what about his rota bedfellows that have made their entire careers writing about them all? Of course William has to leak his distaste at Harry writing about himself. He must defend the rota he works for and they can’t pay their bills writing their fan fiction and biographies and speaking for royal documentaries if their target is just going to spill the beans themselves and beat them to the punch. Why pay to listen to second hand stories that could be lies when you can hear it straight from the person themselves?

      • GRUEY says:

@pearl grey this is exactly what I think about the dynamic between Harry and Meghan. Meghan’s style is earnest, hard working, professional and clearly informed by a lot of therapeutic concepts that helped her see her way clear through to leaving the BRF rather than flailing about in a futile situation. She is both mature and Zen.

I also think it’s informative to remember who Meghan was and wasn’t before she married in. She was the opposite of one of those starlets constantly being papped and swanning around the pages of US weekly. And she easily could have been. To the English press, red carpets may seem like attention seeking, but they’re simply a professional part of being a working television actress. Meghan’s work seems to be informed by her experiences but far less autobiographical than the direction Harry takes. She honestly sounds to me like someone who worked it all out in therapy a very long time ago.

      • AD says:

Nobody really care what Elegant Bill has to say. I was told released a book after Harry or something to that effect. However, no one talking about it. What does that tell you. He is not that interesting. Sorry! If only Elegant Bill do him a and stay in his lane. He will thrive. No amont of competing wil help their capital to sour higher than H and M

    • Killfanora says:

Those idiots can’t see that talking about all these fears…..is telling us what went on! They’re giving themselves away with their terror of what might come.
And if the reality is Harry just writing about his time in the Forces, meeting Meghan and his life in the US I’ll laugh myself silly.

      • lalisa says:

I’m hoping that the book will be about his time in the forces and his romance with meghan! I just wanna know how these two got together 😍 but for the meantime let these demons be filled with anxiety 😀

      • anance says:

They are worried about what secrets he’ll spill about THEM; not racism, everyone knows that. It does need to be nailed to the mast with clear information.

There’s the adage – you’re only as sick as your secrets. So, a dysfunctional family has so many.

        – Charles has had other mistresses beyond Camilla and, even, whispers of sexual infractions in his household.
        – Andrew – Nuff said.
        – Edward – that rock hasn’t been looked under for a while.
        – William – so nice he took up gardening.
        – Kate – how she is completely disrespected by everyone and the state of marriage.

        They are scared about this.

      • Jais says:

Lol, I’m sorry. Sexual infractions within his household? What?

      • Lizzie Bathory says:

First comment got eaten, so I’ll try again. Re: “sexual infractions within his household,” Google Charles’s former valet, George Smith.

      • Jais says:

Thanks! That google search was interesting. It took me a few different articles to realize this allegation also implied Charles was bisexual but the papers really seemed to embargo that part at the time. And princess diana visited him and taped his allegations but the tapes went missing? And they’re worried about Harry’s book? Lol

    • Over it says:

Me too lalisa, me too .lol

      • GRUEY says:

@anance I wonder how direct Harry’s knowledge is about William’s mistresses. Was he ever asked to lie to Kate? Did will ever bring a mistress to hang out with Harry around? Use Harry as an excuse to duck Kate? I wouldn’t be surprised to see William put Harry in these positions.

      • BlueToile says:

GRUEY, do you remember the “hunting trip” in Spain with Will, Harry, Jecca and a few other blokes while Kate vacationed in Mustique with her family and an infant George? Yeah, it has happened. Harry was there to cover for Will, period. It somehow looks less suspicious if your brother is dragged along because, you know Will would not cheat with his little bro in the next tent. 🙄 It is all How to Cheat 101.

    • marehare says:

Charles and Prince Billy are both cheaters. Charlie is a drink from the look on his red face. I prefer Harry and Megham. Much classier.
Royal palace is racist and never defended Megham against all the racism shown to her in Rupert Murcoch’s papers.

      • North of Boston says:

There are a lot of crappy things that Charles says and does, but his red face is reportedly due to rosacea not drinking. A family member of mine has it and it really does a number on your skin.

      • Amanda says:

Charles does drink, it sounds like quite a bit, and there’s nothing wrong with that, per se. He doesn’t (so far as we can tell) suffer from an addiction.

I personally do not drink because alcohol addiction runs in my family and has been part of some family tragedies. Also, it isn’t good for my health personally. But I would not judge people just for enjoying a drink. Nothing wrong with feeling good.

      • Guildish says:

If it was alcoholism I feel the nose would also be red.

I tend to believe that rosacea is the cause of the red face. A simple solution that I found for rosacea is to saturate a cotton pad with tea tree oil, wipe your entire face, leave for 10 minutes. Wash. Repeat 2x a day for 2 weeks. Then 1x for 2 weeks. Then 1x every couple of days thereafter. This formula has been successful with a few friends of mine.

      • pearliecue says:

You should read about the relationship between rosacea and alcohol use.

    • Liz version 700 says:

Lalisa you are right on point. These racists have spent years attacking H&M and their clown car PR about the book is glorious. Confess to a few more things Chucky and Will. I cannot stop laughing at them.

    • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

Sorry, this is a slightly random thought. Hearing Henry Mountbatten-Windsor feels similar to when David Bowie went from Ziggy Stardust to his Armani suits in the 80s (I’m a huge David Bowie fan). He’ll always be Prince Harry but I just feel that name fits for “Harry the businessman.”

    • macko says:

The very same royalists and haters that said Meghan didn’t, couldn’t write the BENCH, that someone else wrote it for her, NOW say that Meghan is the one writing Harry’s book.
They need to get their hateration together. Poor things. Blinded by stupid logic, the lot of them.

  2. Piratewench says:

If they didn’t have a ton of bad behavior to hide, they wouldn’t be so nervous like this and they wouldn’t be freaking out.

  3. Amy T says:

Well, if anyone is an expert on “shameful and tasteless,” it’s Dan Wootten.

    • Lizzie says:

      Spot on Amy.

    • Merricat says:

      Lol, Amy

    • Over it says:

Fact Amy. I think Danny boy and willyleaks have a relationship we don’t know about. He is a bit too involved with things that don’t concern him

    • Liz version 700 says:

Amy you are absolutely correct. Dan “love letter to William” is soooooo creepy.

    • HeyJude says:

His first tweet on news Harry wrote a book- sight and description unseen was- STRIP HIS TITLES NOW!

The book might be about the war experience or something. And he’s “strip his title ARGH!??!?!!!!”

These fucking people. They really cannot help themselves from enthusiastically helping to write the future stories of today’s tyrannical royals like we read stories of Henry VIII or Marie Antoinette. Every move they make and response they come up with is even more of a caricature of historical tyrannical royals than the last, that will cause them to be the laughing stock picture of crazy royals for ages in the future.

Wooton is actively helping to write the story of “Mad King William”.

  4. Shell says:

Next year was supposed to be a good year for the Windsors because it’s the 25th anniversary of Diana’s death?! Lol.. Celebrate good times, come on!

    • Rmcgrudiva says:

Snort – I caught that, too!

    • Nic919 says:

That stuck out to me as well. Her death anniversary isn’t a positive thing unless you are the family glad she was now out of the way.

    • Becks1 says:

That stood out to me too when I saw this on twitter. To me it says that the royals were planning on capitalizing on her death for more sympathy etc.

      • equality says:

And yet they all want to natter on about how Harry exploits his mother’s memory. And when did Harry say he can’t remember his mother? What was that about?

      • Soupie says:

        @Equality
That was my first thought too. I don’t remember Harry ever saying anything about not remembering his childhood or his mother. These people 🙄💩

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Equality, that struck me too. Where did that off the wall comment come from regarding Harry not remembering his childhood or Mother? I think this is what they’ll be pushing to make people believe that the memories that Harry writes about are not true. I really think they want to undermine him now. What it does make me think is that perhaps Walmart does remember his Mother. Now, that I would believe.

    • Snuffles says:

I bet you some of those evil mutha fuckas DO celebrate her being dead.

    • Lizzie Bathory says:

Right?! Were they planning to dance on her grave? Jesus.

      • HeatherC says:

Decorate her newly unveiled statue with garland and twinkly lights, then trot out the Cambridge kids for a photo op picnic in front of it

    • Over it says:

Shell, this part made me cringe, how is that something to celebrate. These people are sick fucks

    • Agreatreckoning says:

That really was a bizarre comment to include in a ‘good year’.

    • Liz version 700 says:

That comment about celebrating Diana’s death does just sort of reach out and smack you doesn’t it.

    • Lizzie says:

And a whole year? They entire year they will shout OVERSHADOWING THE QUEEN!! at anything Harry or Meghan do.

  5. jazzbaby1 says:

Aw, does he? He needs to go tend his roses.

    • anance says:

That may come out – as in “I felt so sorry for my SIL, Kate, who is a good person and puts up with deplorable behavior from her husband. The children barely know him, George is afraid of him and his tantrums.”

      • clomo says:

That would be a hoot if Kate and the Queen were the only ones he spoke fondly of!

  6. ModeratelyWealthy says:

Looking forward to the book, not to the British Media milking it for a whole year.

For those living in the U.K: this hate watch is even selling? I am sorry, but I do not think they can go on and on about a book that has not been released for so long without driving their clocks down. There is so much soup you can do with but a liter of broth!

More and more I think this is just part of their Brexit/regressive agenda of keeping the establishment in power. It does sound more like propaganda than the usual tabloids rudeness

    • nina says:

Never underestimate the loathsome ways in which they will exploit this. These are people who hacked a dead girl’s phone. nothing is beneath them.

      • SunRae says:

And people on here as early as yesterday were trying to make us believe that the best way to respond to this level of lunacy, is to keep your head down, crawl into a hole and die.

I love that Harry’s got bigger balls than that.

      • Jane says:

Didn’t Prince Charles publish his memoirs? I have no idea what he said, but by God I’ll defend his right to say it. (American here!)

    • Demi says:

I’m not in the UK but don’t think it’s selling people got sick of the coverage around Prince Philip’s funeral& wrote massive complaints to the BBC and that was less than a week of coverage! I imagine they are losing audience for this royal propaganda at this point but the channels and tabloids aren’t willing to admit it yet.

      • ModeratelyWealthy says:

Compare them to the Nederlands and Belgium, both have colonial pasts and monarchies, and yet their whole system does not rely on brainwashing people about their rulers. In fact, they do the gossip bit and they get outraged a couple of times too, but that is it. You get a day to celebrate the Monarch, and not much fanfare.

So, yes, Murdoch and the tories are really hard at work at preventing the Uk from ever leaving 18th century behind.

  7. Frida_K says:

“William believes his behaviour is shameful and tasteless.”

Huh. So Hector the Projector is at it again, eh? Yes, Willnot, your behavior is shameful and tasteless, we already know that.

Meantime, I’ll be looking forward to the memoir with great anticipation. Harry has turned into an interesting and engaging adult and I expect his memoir to be thoughtful and substantive.

    • nina says:

Really. Someone should tell him that most people think that cheating on your wife and treating your brother and sister in law like shit is shameful and tasteless.

      • LaraW" says:

Someone should tell him that his budding diplomatic career as future statesperson has thusfar been “shameful and tasteless” also.

  8. Lauren says:

Harry might have a bone to pick with Camilla. She was briefing her own people about Meghan, she was pretty active in her part of the racist smear campaign. The book will be out 6 months after the Jubilee, and plenty of regular people are asking loudly just what the klan is so afraid of if they supposedly tried their best with Harry and Meghan. They will be outing themselves as they did with the Oprah interview.

    • lalisa says:

Wait Camilla was involved?! 😮 what the hell did that homewrecker leak?

      • Amy Bee says:

The only thing I recall is after Harry and Meghan announced they were leaving, CH briefed to the Mail on Sunday that Camilla tried to give Meghan advice but she refused to listen.

      • PEARL GREY says:

        @ LALISA

I’m not sure exactly what Camilla’s direct involvement entails (but they all benefited so they were all involved), but there was that flurry of stories about Meghan “deliberately hijacking” Camilla’s news cycle by posting a photo from her patronage visit (I think it may have been the National Theatre, the one where she wore the white puff sleeve top and white pencil skirt) on the Sussex Royal IG account. The rota rats immediately got to work claiming that Camilla was upset and betrayed because Meghan was warned in advance to hold off on doing any appearances or work promotion because Camilla was going to be making her big speech about domestic violence around the same time and they wanted her to have the press attention. As usual, Meghan was accused of selfishly ignoring Camilla’s request and taking her spotlight, thus a brief royal feud between Camilla and Meghan was born but the rota rats couldn’t make it catch on, so they dropped it. How much of this was actually coming from Camilla herself is unclear but like the others, she didn’t do or say anything, directly or indirectly, to counter the claims.

      • Lauren says:

There are a couple of the racist articles that were written by the go-to “journalist” that Camilla uses. I’m trying to track it down, but there is so much stuff constantly posted by the squad that I can’t find it on the feed.

      • jazzbaby1 says:

Isn’t Camilla the one who told M to lay low because she was “everywhere” even though she hadn’t left her house for along time?

  9. Belli says:

We SAID that they were worrying about the wrong Sussex. It was never going to be Meghan that would snap and spill. They should have been terrified of Harry from the start. He grew up in the institution and knows where all the bodies are buried.

    • Snuffles says:

Just like they assumed Harry would never leave, they probably never thought he’d write a memoir. They put EVERYTHING on Meghan. But if they paid attention to anything Harry has been saying since his 20s, they would have known this was a LONG time coming.

      • Becks1 says:

My fave comment on twitter about this so far is from LoveLola and it was:

“You Were So Worried About Her, you Forgot About Me: A Memoir.”

        LOL.

      • Eurydice says:

@Becks1 – OMG, that is priceless! How stupid of them to think that Harry wasn’t the one who has experience with power.

      • Merricat says:

I love a bit of poetic justice.

      • Amy Too says:

I like “Prince Pushy: A Memoir that Can Actually Get Published, by The Prince that Pushed Back,” to contrast with Samantha Markle’s attempted “Princess Pushy” about Meghan.

    • Midnight@theOasis says:

You can only poke a ginger bear so many times before he snaps. They should have left them alone.

      • Snuffles says:

Perfect title for the book! “Ginger Snaps: What Happens When the Monarchy Fucks Around and Finds Out”

      • Rapunzel says:

        Other Possible Awesome Titles:

Harry: The Me You Can See, Now That I’m Free

        Prince Harry: Global Citizen

Harry: No longer the other brother

    • Kfg says:

He knew they were going to pull some bs about Lilli. He saw they were trying to kill his wife and son so he could save PWBT and Keen from scrutiny. Her embiggening at Ms expense. He knew he was going to blow it up. Lololol and ill say it again, petty Betty knew too.

  10. Becks1 says:

They are just telling on themselves over and over again. If everything was as the royals have said, and as the tabloids have been telling us for years – then what is the concern? If the royals really were so welcoming, really bent over backwards for Meghan, if they really did encourage Harry to get help for his mental health, etc – then what is the problem?

I also think its very telling that WILLIAM is the one who cannot get over this – WILLIAM is the one whose relationship with Harry is now dead, etc. What on earth is William so afraid of? What on earth does Harry know about William that he is so petrified Harry is going to share?

    • equality says:

A lifetime of things, hopefully with pictures. I am hoping for pictures of what Will wore to the natives party since Harry’s Nazi costume got all the attention at the time. Harry got outed for drug use. He and Will were supposedly tight at that time, do we really believe Will never experimented?

      • Becks1 says:

@equality there are rumors that william is still using regularly, which would be really bad if that info was released.

and to be clear, my questions were almost rhetorical – clearly Harry knows a lot of negative things about William he could spill, and this meltdown from KP just confirms that.

      • HeatherC says:

I can believe that the relationship started to break down as soon as Harry started living a more sober life and William kept partaking.

      • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

TOBB has never *stopped* partying, drinking, or playing around. No one will forget “Dad Dancing” with a group of blondes, when it was a “boys’ trip” skiing. Or Rose Bush trimming. Or being largely absent from George’s first 6 mos. (and prior, when Kate drove herself to the hospital for extreme morning sickness), or saying how he never gets to spend time with his kids (and we find out he’s apparently living at Sandringham, not Amner, with his family). And isn’t there talk of some lawyer now in London??

      • LMR says:

My guess on Will disclosures are:
        – Funny money dealings at the Royal Foundation
        – Active role orchestrating the Thomas Markle shit
        – Serious racist incidents that make asking about Archie’s skin look like child’s play
        – Backroom political activity

      • ArtHistorian says:

Will himself literally said that he partied harder than Harry in an interview years ago!!

    • Agreatreckoning says:

Yes! WILLIAM is the problem. Wootton does not know what Charles thinks, feels or has said. Wootton has consistently been disparaging to Charles unless he can find a way to align Charles with William. The only compliments DW gives Charles are the backhanded variety. Even Wootton’s recent article about the DoE title wasn’t favorable to Charles. I don’t believe Charles and William are allies or that Charles shares his thoughts with William/Wootton. There have been so many articles over the past year by Middletons and Wootton himself about William leapfrogging Charles to be king. Harry and Charles having any kind of a relationship isn’t in William’s best interest. This is more KP spinning wild webs.imo

CH isn’t worried what Harry might say about Camilla. KP and Wootton are more concerned that Harry isn’t going to say anything or if he does it might be positive. Wootton is expressing his & William’s false concern now. The day of the statue unveiling Wootton put this piece out.

I had the misfortune to watch the awful new right wing news station GB News, and Wootton was on there spouting bile and interviewing Tom Bower about his forthcoming book , what a pair! I was left feeling sick over the way they both appeared to be enjoying pulling the Sussexes apart, discussing yet again how long the marriage was going to last. Wootton was fawning all over Bower, it was beyond awful with their mischievous eyes flashing with delight as they seem to be rubbing their hands with glee at the prospect of more Meghan and Harry bashing over the months. It is totally shocking, and to think that the Palace could have put a stop to all this venom if they had wanted to. Wootton is clearly just as obsessed with the Sussexes as that other one who he appears to be replacing at the Fail. Wootton had earlier in his awful programme tried to knock BLM and taking the knee, so we can clearly see what his character is all about.

        @PrincessK said:
“It is totally shocking, and to think that the Palace could have put a stop to all this venom if they had wanted to.”

Right. As Harry said during the Oprah interview, he wants the royal family to “call off the dogs,” i.e., the rota rats. But no, the royals and the grey men only continue doubling down with the smears, and the nonsensical projecting, and gaslighting.

The well has run dry on Sussex leaks. Thus, the U.K. tabloids have nothing to make up lies about unless and until Meghan and Harry announce a project or make a public appearance. The Salty Isle carnival act is way beyond it’s sell-by date!

If Charles is feeling ‘let down by Harry,’ LOL, that’s good! Charles deserves to feel miserable after all the times he’s let down his younger son! The bs about Charles being concerned about what Harry might say about Camilla, is OTT fabrication. Harry was the only son to publicly come out in support of Camilla in an effort to try and stop the tabloids from dragging her. Harry said about Camilla, “We love her to bits.” Whether that sentiment is true or not, at least Harry made the effort to keep media criticism of Camilla at bay. But what did Camilla and Charles do when Meghan was being attacked and Harry sought C&C’s help? They told Harry to take it lying down, and Charles briefed the media that he calls Meghan, ‘Tungsten,’ which is NOT really a compliment. It’s like giving the media carte blanche by signalling ‘she can take it.’

There’s no way that Harry ever said he doesn’t remember details of growing up with his mother. And the bit about Eugenie & Beatrice being shocked Harry is writing a memoir, is also not credible. The Fail and KP know Bea and Eug aren’t going to publicly confirm or deny how they feel. In reality, it’s obvious that the York sisters don’t get along with the Lamebridges, and do get along with Harry.

Wootton boldly acts like he can make these false claims with impunity. He’s obviously holding a lot of leverage over Willileaks.

    • Jais says:

@becks1-what on earth does he know about William? Said this on another post but that is literally the question I am most curious about. So many allusions in the press to William. Obv there’s the cheating and the racism but it just sounds like so much more.

      • Becks1 says:

Right??? To me that’s becoming the big question. There seems to be something about William that everyone is covering up. Is it “just” his huge temper and miserable personality? Is it addictions? Something more?

      • Jais says:

Yes! It seems so weird and possibly such a huge thing. Lol if it’s actually not, but if it is, I wonder if it will ever actually be revealed. There seem to be so many protections in place for William. It makes me so so curious though and I think it’s bc of all the little breadcrumbs left by the RR. I’ve been wondering about addiction but really have no idea.

  11. Talia says:

The thing is, he might be doing this partially for financial reasons. The cost of the security he and his family require is astronomical – it isn’t one or two people on minimum wage, it’s a full team of people with appropriate qualifications (ex Secret Service for example) who can deal with not only fans trying to reach the family but also possible terrorist or organised racist groups planning an attack.

The Netflix deal will give them security long term but they won’t get it all at once and my understanding is that it has to cover the costs of making the programmes as well. He and Meghan and the children need money in the short term and that may be what the advance is for. Obviously it is more than he needs but I can’t imagine he can write his memoirs more than once or maybe twice (a catch up book 5 or 10 years after the first might sell) so the money will have to last for a long time.

The RF can’t put Harry in a position where they aren’t paying his expenses then complain when he finds ways to cover them himself.

    • Eurydice says:

Sure, there’s security – but also the big house with the many bathrooms. And the thing is that Harry is still a prince who has been used to a certain level of financial comfort. That doesn’t mean he needs the crown jewels, but also doesn’t mean he’s going to be mowing the lawn on Saturdays and buying bulk at Costco. I see absolutely nothing wrong with this – he’s doing what he proposed with the “half-in” plan, still a prince, still doing service work, just not within the palace structure.

      • deering24 says:

@Eurydice: “That doesn’t mean he needs the crown jewels, but also doesn’t mean he’s going to be mowing the lawn on Saturdays and buying bulk at Costco.” For some odd reason, I get the feeling he would enjoy that, actually. 🙂🙃

      • Feeshalori says:

I can see Harry mowing his vast lawn on one of those sit-down mowers wearing a John Deere cap. I think he’d get a kick out of it, too.

    • lulubrown says:

Talia, Please don’t take this as an attack on you. Let me speak on something I know a great deal about. I wish the UK tabloids would stop with the false narrative that security is so much. If that were the case, not many celebrities would be able to afford it. 1 secret service gets paid between 135,000 – 148,000 a year. These are facts. Some are under the impression the security costs a million dollars a month. It is like any other job. Police officers barely make that much; Miliary officers barely make that much; so many people think security is different. Protection officer in the Uk makes around 100,000 -140,000 a year. Even if Harry Hired ten security officers, that would be 1.5 million a year; this is a lot when you don’t have a job and living off on an inheritance. Harry wanted to make enough money to house his family and pay the bills, which he could do thanks to the deals he and Meghan made. Harry’s not the President of the United States. Plus, the neighborhood he lives in also comes with security.

      • Rnot says:

There was a great article in Vanity Fair back in 2016 that laid out what world-class security can cost. https://www.vanityfair.com/style/2016/11/bodyguard-security-cost-kim-kardashian-brad-pitt

The cost of providing decent benefits is usually nearly the same amount as the salary for one employee. So it would cost them (or the security company) close to $200,000 per year to employ one person on a $100,000 salary. For world-class security staff I’m sure the benefits are costly. Even just short and long-term disability insurance would be pretty steep for people who have a higher risk of injury on the job. H&M require round the clock security. There are 8760 hours in one year. In order to provide just one guard on duty 24/7/365 they would need to employ a minimum of five people full-time. They obviously have more than one guard on duty at a time.

    • Sigmund says:

I don’t have a problem with him doing this for financial reasons. They’re working for their money, unlike the BRF.

I personally don’t think it will even include the “worst of the worst” revelations, like who made the comment about Archie’s skin tone. But even if it did, so what? If they wanted you to write warmly about them, they should have behaved better.

    • teecee says:

Once things open up more, though, he can make an easy $1 million/year on the speaker’s circuit. That may eventually dry up, but as long as he capitalizes within the next five years and they are smart about saving and investing, they will be fine.

      • nina says:

I don’t know about it drying up. Harry can make good money for a long long time.

Bill Clinton is still pulling in big money for speeches and sitting on various boards. All he has to offer is former president of the US. In 2016, Hillary and Bill released their tax returns when she ran for president and they made 88M in speaking engagements and sitting on various boards.

Michelle and Barack Obama are also making more money now than ever before.

Harry and Meghan have so much more to offer. Their current deals are a drop in the ocean of what they can earn.

      • AD says:

He will also be pulling in bonuses at the end of the year as an executive at BetterUp. Some of the bonuses executive receive are in the millions. So I think he will be fine, He needs to capitalize now

    • Margaret says:

I don’t see any reason why Harry should give his income from this book to charity. He is not a working royal any longer and isn’t supported by them in any way so he has to earn an income. Sure, give some of it to charity but not all of it. Later, when they establish themselves and have plenty of money earning interest they can become more philanthropic, but not now.

  12. Amy Bee says:

I’ll just say thanks Dan for letting us know that Harry and Camilla don’t have a good relationship. Given the history, I suspected that was the case but it’s good to finally get confirmation.

    • Kalana says:

Dan Wooten is William’s guy so did Dan and William just throw Camilla under the bus? William is a little like a cornered animal, he’s going to just keep lashing out at everybody until he feels in control again. I believe the theory that Charles is supporting William’s behavior to avoid any controversy around Camilla so was this a warning shot from Dan and William?

Camilla is more trouble than she’s worth. Charles’ obsession with her has ruined his family. In the end, they don’t even live together full-time, I think only really spending time together at Highgrove before Camilla returns to her own home decorated with blackamoor imagery.

      • Kfg says:

Will is pissed bc it means he can’t divorce keene yet. And he’s going to have to work to prove he’s not a lazy fboy. Keen will dissappear tho mommy is probably like omg what if he tells everyone you stalked will and tried to sleep w harry

      • Harper says:

There’s an odd focus on Camilla all of a sudden. I think it’s Clarence House’s way of saying “We’re not worried about being named as the racist who asked about Archie’s skin color.”

And if it’s coming from KP, which since it’s Wooten it probably is, this is William grabbing the next most vulnerable royal to deflect attention from himself. Will wants everyone tut-tutting about Harry dissing Camilla to keep the focus off his racist comments to Harry and his Rose gardening.

      • Jais says:

Yeah references to Camilla seem like a diversion by William and DW. Want people to think Camilla is the true racist and leaker in the family. Also, it’s interesting that DW and Richard Kay have both not mentioned Kate once. Not to say that Harry is going to go after Kate but it’s just always interesting to see what or who is not mentioned.

      • Sunday says:

@Harper there IS an odd focus on Camilla all of a sudden, and a curious omission of any mention of Kate or any embiggening briefings from camp middleton. Could be she’s been sidelined (or is just f*cking off on holiday somewhere), or could be William/KP using Camilla to deflect from Kate? Idk, to me it’s just weird that all of a sudden Camilla’s name is everywhere and Kate’s is nowhere.

ETA @Jais YES I completely agree.

    • Margaret says:

There was a story of Camilla having frequent telephone calls with meghans father, and sending him gifts. Harry was said to have confronted her about it. That story did not stay up long.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Margaret, but was it true? The problem with the BM is it seems they never met a fact that they liked, they’re much more comfortable making stuff up. I think Camilla is just a diversion. They’re hoping people will believe there’s bad blood between Camilla and Harry. But is that true? I think it’s possible that Harry made his peace with that (as much as he could) year ago, and probably doesn’t spare a whole lot of time thinking about her. Since this hasn’t been floated before, I’m highly suspicious there’s any facts behind it.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

@Saucy&Sassy-That Camilla story was put out by Australia’s tabloid trash New Idea(the BM’s equivalent) back in 2018. There’s zero chance Camilla would have been reaching out to Meghan’s father. New Idea also put out a story many years ago that Angelina & Jennifer A. were lesbian lovers and planning beachside nuptials! They did get one story kind of right in March of 2014. Kate was going to have a baby girl. Only problem-Charlotte was born over a year later in May of 2015.

It is an odd new focus on Camilla and no mention of Kate considering after the Oprah interview it was all about Kate being “attacked” with the crying story and Meghan mentioning Kate apologized with flowers and a note.

  13. Pippi says:

If this ridiculous hand-wringing and whinging goes on in the BM until the book is released, and then the book is all about his military service and his work with his various charities and what he has learned from those he has worked with and for, well, I will laugh. And then go buy the book, because I’d love to read about that.

    • Amy Bee says:

All that will be included, the statement said as much but it’s also going to talk about his childhood and his life as a husband and father.

  14. Merricat says:

    Dear Dan: So?

    • LaraW" says:

Completely agree. I also found this bit hilarious:

‘There’s a lot going on among the family at the moment.

I know this statement possibly reads very differently to someone in the UK, but as a US citizen I’m just kind of like “well yeah, he’s in his mid-thirties, he should definitely have moved out of his grandmother’s house and made his own money by now.” If the speaker is implying that there’s no greater privilege than joining the political in-fighting of a racist institution just to ensure that he has housing and income for his wife and children’s security costs, then. . . I suppose it’s their prerogative to believe that.

Additionally: “He’s there to do what’s right for him.”

I don’t see how this is a bad thing.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

LaraW, when I read it, I thought he was actually getting a dig in at the royals’ expense! As an American, I don’t see anything shady about this at all.

    • Liz version 700 says:

Haha love it! Dear Dan…cry more! LOL Harry is in his 14 million dollar house with the 56 bathrooms making all of the Windsors and tge RR dance quite a jig.

  15. S808 says:

That little tidbit about Camilla is…..interesting. Why would Charles be so worried about what’s said about Camilla? I don’t think it’s in reference to the affair, hasn’t Harry defended Camilla in the past?

    • lanne says:

I think that’s just Ratchet Man stirring shit, and possibly jerking Charles chain to provoke a response. Camilla has outwardly at least been a lot friendlier to Meghan in public than Will, Kate, or Sophie have. I think the only sleep Camilla would be losing over this memoir is having to deal with her spineless husbands whining.

      • Becks1 says:

I think Charles is worried about what the book might say about Camilla for the reasons we have been discussing here – Charles is getting ready to throw any and all goodwill he might have towards naming Camilla Queen. That’s why he was so enraged over the Crown – it did a lot of damage to Camilla’s image for people who maybe weren’t alive for all of that, or didn’t really pay attention at the time for whatever reason – or who maybe “knew” what happened with the affair but not how long it went on and how entrenched in their marriage Camilla was.

I think he’s worried about this memoir re: Camilla for similar reasons, that anything negative about Camilla will hurt his chances of making her queen (and not having there be huge backlash over it.)

Frankly, I think even if Harry and Camilla don’t get along, she’s so far down his burn list, so to speak, that Harry isnt going to waste a lot of energy on her .

      • teecee says:

@Becks1 Do you really think the Crown tarnished Camilla? I don’t. It really made Charles look bad but Camilla came out as clean as “the other woman” could. What happens next season during the divorce/tampon storyline is another story.

      • Becks1 says:

@Teecee I think it did for people who didn’t know the story or didn’t follow it closely. Like realizing that Diana really was expected to just accept Camilla as part of their lives and that she was always going to be around and that she was always going to be important to charles – more important than Diana – I think seeing those things played out again on a screen brought home the Charles-Diana-Camilla scandal to a different generation.

      • Beach Dreams says:

@lanne: I disagree. Since Commonwealth Day 2019, I’ve been suspicious of how Camilla really feels about Meghan. At that church service, she rather curtly greeted Meghan and quickly walked past her to speak with Kate for a lengthy time. Then at the infamous Commonwealth Day service in 2020, Meghan didn’t exactly greet Camilla when she walked in with Charles and the Queen. She smiled at the latter two but quickly turned away when Camilla followed them. There’s also the somewhat shady response from her when she was asked if she’d miss the Sussexes when Sussexit was announced.

    • iconoclast59 says:

This discussion got me to thinking about Diana’s nickname for Camilla: “The Rottweiler.” A lot of people thought it was in reference to Camilla’s looks, as unattractive women are often called dogs. (I know – UGH.) But I think Diana was referring mainly to her tenacity. Camilla refused to end her affair with Charles, even after Diana confronted her directly. Like a Rottweiler, she sunk her teeth into him and didn’t let go.

      • Feebee says:

Just wanted to say I think you’re right about it being about her personality. I always took it as that, never thought it was a comment on her appearance, that didn’t seem to fit with Diana.

      • Thirtynine says:

Me too, I always thought it was about her aggression and tenacity. It didn’t even occur to me it was about looks.

  16. lanne says:

wow. With spokespeople like the ratchets, who needs enemies? So many of us predicted this: the specter of Harry and Meghan will loom over the royal family for the foreseeable future, and will color everything the royals do. Harry and Meghan are the bigger story, and they draw the largest global audience. Every royal story we hear, until the palaces create a functioning media strategy, will have some Harry/Meghan connection. Any discussion of Charles work, any Cambridge story, any story about the Queen will make some spoken or unspoken reference to the Sussexes. I’m still in shock that no one at any of the 3 palaces thought this through at Sussexit. Every boneheaded response of their drives even more discussion about Harry and Meghan. Their smear campaign enlarged the global audience for the Oprah interview, and for the Apple* series.

Charles and William are getting exactly what they deserve as selfish, jealous, narcissistic jerks. Harry was right—they are both severely lacking in leadership and guidance. If they think that the love for the Queen, which mostly comes from familiarity and nostalgia, will magically transform onto them, they are mistaken. I said this yesterday, but “we hate Meghan” is not a good branding slogan for the royal family. It’s not sustainable. They are so lacking in imagination that they fully expected Harry and Meghan, or Harry alone, would come crawling back to them in shame. It never once occurred to any of them that they may need to come crawling to Harry begging forgiveness. If William is that unsuited for the top job, then he surely can’t afford a popularity contest with his charismatic brother on top of his incompetence. He needs to focus his attention on learning how to do his role without his brother backing him up.

    • Amy Bee says:

@Lanne: It’s amazing that the Royal Family let Harry and Meghan leave without some kind of agreement that prohibited them from speaking out about their experience for at least 5 years. The family was so confident that Harry and Meghan would fail and that he would come back to the UK within a year. They did everything to try to make that happen but thankfully they didn’t succeed.

      • Kalana says:

I was thinking this yesterday. They should have cut them a check for 50 million at least (they can afford it), in return for signing NDAs on both sides. Instead they banned them from using their HRHs officially and took away their Instagram account, and took away their security. They cheaped out and went for snobbery and fear instead of making the smart decision.

      • TigerMcQueen says:

I’ve been thinking this recently, they really did think H&M would fail and that Harry would slink back to them with his tail between his legs.

They were short-sighted and incredibly stupid. So in other words, they judged Harry by their own standards and woah were they wrong.

      • nina says:

@Kalana. You are approaching this like a person living out here in the real world. They can only react to what they know. The grey men have always dictated on the Salty Isle and controlled the narrative.

They, and their employers are not curious people. They could not or did not comprehend the world outside their little cocoon has changed. They thought everyone was just going to buy their version and be done with it.

The rest of the world do not view the BRF with the same deference as their subjects. To the rest of the world they are celebrities to be gossiped about that’s all.

      • anance says:

I think the BRF should have given them the same deal Diana got. Along with Commonwealth assignments.

      • anance says:

@nina ITA. The BRF expected H&M to act like the Wessexes, terrified that they wouldn’t have royal duties and lose their income and privileges. That is the bubble the courtiers live in.

You can live bravely in an old unhappy world, or happily in a brave new world.

      • AD says:

I don’t think they have that power to put a gag order on them because they are not employees. 50 million would not have been enough money to sustain them.

Would Meghan have gone for that No! Why because there is potential for making so much more. It would also have defeated the purpose for their independence. Furthermore, you take the money you are bound to silence and I don’t think they wanted to be silent anymore.

“Where you silent or silenced” Oprah. That kind of agreement was not going to fly. And as I have said before those Men in Grey Suits have evolved since Neanderthal days. No new ideas.

    • Nick G says:

@lanne one hundred per cent right. It is incredible that we are watching all of this in real time. All my life I have read about and watched the Royal Family and this…this is the hidden story, that they are actually this blind and unintelligent, prone to blunders and quick to miscalculate and mishandle. I still can’t believe it.

      • SueBarbri says:

This is it, right here. I’ve been a royal watcher for 25 years, and during that time I assumed that the grey men and the courtiers and the palace officials were well-organized and/or good at their jobs. But it turns out, they’re just another group of old white men who don’t know how to deal with the modern world.

They’ve spent a lot of time cozying up to newspaper editors and other traditional journalists, but they don’t seem to have any notion of a social media strategy or even an understand the tidal wave of distaste that is going to drown the lot of them. I can’t believe they didn’t see any of this coming. They didn’t bother to modernize at all. That’s what stands out the most. The RF is still using the same tactics and wearing the same clothes (the exact same clothes, as a matter of fact!) that they used in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. And they look ridiculous. I just…I was looking at a photo of Charles and Cams the other day, and they looked like they were on the verge of withering away. Just fragile and pale and utterly overwhelmed and unchangeable and horribly ill-suited in every way. And Will and Kate are almost comically old fashioned, to the point that she wears the same clothes Diana wore four decades ago and all his sweaters and clothes look like things Philip tossed out in the 80s. How can they compete with Meghan and Harry? This is ridiculous.

      • AD says:

@ Subarbri: you had me on the floor with ” they looked like they were on the verge of withering away”. But you are right, it’s an archaic institution that is stuck in medieval times. Even with SM, they still think the old ways are the best. I do not see how that institution can be modernized, First, they think too much of themselves and pride goes before a fall.

They have never taken the time to have a select committee study the younger genetations and how they think. They are just stuck in their ways. Sometimes they are in their own way like the way the allowed the Lilibet he said she said to go on. Talk about wasted opportunity.

As for Elegant Bill, he is a product of the system so there no hope for him. The most important thing the now generation love authenticity, respect vulnerability and abhor performative actions. But the Monarchy is so full of themselves that they really do not see the big picture. Their form of modernization is to start a youtube channel. Seriously? And you have people Tominey boasting about it. They are just behind the times.

But they will learn the hard way. So that when Charlotte suggests a half in half out they will jump to make it happen.

      • deering24 says:

Hey, the Men In Gray (and Eurocentricism in general) are used to dictating/shaping the future. They simply can’t comprehend that the game would change under their feet–much less that they could lose.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

lanne, what popped into my mind when I read your post was, “they don’t know Harry at all.” I don’t whether that’s because they believed the drivel from the BM or they just framed who he was and how he was to respond and it never occurred to them that he had thoughts and opinions of his own. They had no idea who Harry truly is. I hope they buy his book and learn something. I think they’ll be shocked.

  17. Aidevee says:

Wait, so the RF are wanting us all to wail and gnash our teeth in awe and wonderment over the platinum jubilee, Diana’s death and Wills’ birthday for the entire year of 2022? There are no periods of time during that entire year when we can divert our attention to anything else? These people have breathtaking expectations of their own self-importance.

    • equality says:

      Yeah, that’s what I thought.

    • Kalana says:

It will also be the year Kate comes into her own (finds her voice, her feet etc.)

      • Feeshalori says:

        Finds more buttons….

      • Harper says:

I’m looking forward to TOB’s total mid-life meltdown as forty approaches. For a man who felt trapped in his teens/early twenties, and who still avoids duty as much as possible, we may be in for some acting out that is not focused on Harry for a change.

      • JT says:

It’s especially funny as nobody cared about Bill’s last birthday. It came and went with no fanfare. Hell, I saw more articles about Andy for his birthday than Will Jung Un’s.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Kalana, well, you know that will be interesting to watch. Will Kmart suddenly be doing more engagements and doing the job she’s supposed to do? Or will she take even more time off and be a mother? I guess we’ll find out what the role Walmart will assign her. Very interesting indeed! Either way, she will undoubtedly buy more buttons.

  18. Legalese says:

I think it’s hilarious that these royal experts still think Harry gives two shits about reconciliation – it’s always “look what Harry did this time, oh no William and Charles will never forgive him for everything now!” At this point I think it’s pretty obvious that he couldn’t care less. Even Sussex fans lament that he’s too pro-RF, but I think it’s been made quite clear by now that he’s not looking to reconcile with them, at least as they continue to attack Meghan and refuse to take any responsibility. And I wouldn’t either.

One thing that’s really weird to me is how the tabloids are continuing to talk about the statute unveiling, but no one seems to know when exactly Harry left the UK. Daily Mail originally reported that he arrived at LAX the Saturday after the unveiling, but i’ve since seen articles claiming he left the night of the unveiling. He actually couldn’t have possibly arrived in LA on Saturday morning as Daily Mail said unless he flew private, but that seems unlikely since he flew into LAX. Anyways, not important, just thought it was interesting that the tabs don’t actually seem to know.

    • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

For security reasons, he probably flight hops (takes multiple short flights) and it does take him 2 days to get home.

  19. Water Bearer 💧 says:

They are fearful because they know that Harry can damage the future of the monarchy by turning public opinion against them. That’s what this is all about protecting the institution and keeping the British public onside, family reconciliation is secondary.
No one knows what’s going to be in the book and how truthful and honest Harry will be but going by his Oprah interview and his comments on the Apple series it’s not going to be comfortable reading for the Windsors. They and the institution have a lot to be nervous about should anything be published that turns the British public against them.

    • deering24 says:

As well, William seems terrified that Harry will set up a “rival court.” Which makes no sense whatsoever, but, hey…🙃😜

  20. Gina says:

“He no longer cares about how his actions impact the monarchy. He went to California with the sole goal of showing that he will never need to rely on his family for money again – and he’s proven that beyond any doubt”
It seems that royal reporters and the royal family is finally waking up LOL

    • Merricat says:

Yeah, they’re thick-headed, but it might be sinking in.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

Ha! Right. Hoping grown man moves out and doesn’t sponge off family anymore isn’t on the list of shameful/tasteless behavior.

    • MsIam says:

“Not relying on his family for money again”. Gee isn’t that called being a grown up? Interesting concept. Besides, I thought that was Charles’ ultimate endgame with his ” slim down” plan. I guess he didn’t realize that once he cut the strings he would lose all control.

      • ennie says:

They should’ve gone about it in a respectful, consented way, agreeing when and how to stop security, mainly.
The Futures have all the power of the establishment behind them, H and M have only defended themselves.

    • MF1 says:

I read this part and thought, “Wow, for once Wooton is right about something. Harry absolutely does not give two shits about the monarchy.”

    • swirlmamad says:

This might be the only sane, truthful line in that whole piece.

  21. equality says:

Didn’t Charles and Diana’s biographers interview and consult with them on the books? So how is that different? And Bea and Eugenie are shocked? Have they read Fergie’s book? Interesting also that nobody asks for a minute accounting of royal funds spent but think they are due to know what a private citizen does with his money.

    • Becks1 says:

Yeah I don’t think Fergie’s daughters are shocked that a former working royal is writing a memoir .

    • TigerMcQueen says:

Yes they did. Diana’s biography was in her own words as much as it was possible without her putting her name on the cover. And with Andrew and Fergie as parents, I doubt Bea or Eugenie are shocked at anything fwiw.

    • Harper says:

Andrew Morton’s book is Diana’s memoir as told to him. He is her ghostwriter. And Morton’s book absolutely shook the monarchy so they know what is coming. Apparently, the Windsors treat each other like crap (except for Christmas when they all pretend what went down in the past year is just business and laughingly exchange joke gifts and chutney).

      • TigerMcQueen says:

I’m old enough to remember Diana when she was still married to Chuck, like early on when she was having babies. I was young, but heck she was a beautiful princess who wore the most glamours 80s clothes (I was young like I said lolololol) and my mom liked to follow royal news.

Anyway, I remember my mom being horrified when Morton’s book came out because so much of the narrative in the media had been lies. Like how Diana stayed with the Queen Mum leading up to the wedding so she could instruct Diana on protocol and such BS, and in the book, Diana was all “nope, the old sot left me by myself, I only saw her at dinner, she didn’t so jack s***”.

My mom back then said it sounded like Morton spoke directly to Diana. And the palace’s reaction pretty much showed what was said in it was true…much like the reaction ahead of time to Harry’s memoir.

  22. Courtney B says:

I think Harry is fine with Camilla. It’s not like he considers her a bonus mom or his kids will call her granny or anything. But a lot of years have gone by and he does love his father and I’m sure wants him to be happy. Otherwise he wouldn’t want to make up some day like he said. Their relationship isn’t ‘space’ like with William. They say the opposite of love isn’t hate, it’s apathy. We see that here. Harry loves William but he’s cool and okay with no real relationship. Charles he’s angry at because he wants something more than what he’s been given. He wants him to be a father and prioritize him over the grey men and his own self interest. He’s also been rather sympathetic when you look at the genetic pain comments. He knows the effect his upbringing had on him. (And what Diana’s had on her.) He wants his father to actually care about him more than protecting the monarchy and playing games. He wants a father and not a future monarch. And Charles can’t do that. But I don’t think he’d try to hurt him by trashing Camilla and I don’t think he wants to hurt her either. She’s laid pretty low.

    • TheOriginalMia says:

I agree, Courtney B. I don’t think Harry has a problem with Camilla either. I can’t see him lashing out at her. I actually don’t believe he’ll bash the Windsors in this book. I think he’ll make it about him. The Windsors will show their asses over the next year and reveal all their bad deeds before the book is published.

      • NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

There is one PR lie that has endured for decades that almost everyone knows is a lie. But this lie can cause Charles’ 25 year PR campaign to fall apart and for all credibility for the institution to crumble. It was the illusion Charles sold of William and Harry being close with one another. For all of his faults and snobbery, I do think Robert Lacey was 100% telling the truth when he said the brothers were not really all that close as children (except that Diana tried to force closeness onto them), somewhat close in their teen years during their time at Eton and during the period of their mother’s death (that’s why they share the same group of friends from Eton), but really grew apart after Harry got thrown under the bus for the Nazi uniform at age 19. After that, Harry started going his own way more and more and devoted himself to the military. Also, William got with Kate (and whatever happened there). I just don’t believe Kate and Harry were ever close whatsoever. It always seemed very fake to me. Charles especially has always been fascinated with drama and theatre. It only makes sense that he has created a theatrical narrative with the tabloids. Harry is more down to earth and practical. But even the simple words “My brother and I were never close” getting printed could cause Charles’ very fragile PR house of cards to collapse.

  23. North of Boston says:

News that Harry was writing a memoir was always going to make a big splash.

That being said, it’s the RF/Institution’s OWN behavior that is making this such a big deal:

    1) obviously some ish went down that they’re not proud of, that they don’t want made public. To which I say “too bad so sad” and to paraphrase the banner of a local news tabloid “if you don’t want to see it in print, don’t do it”

    2) if any of the senior royals were actually DOING something of import, maybe the press would have something else to write about. The absolute vacuum of substantial work being done by the RF has left a big gaping hole, so of course Harry actually doing something is going to draw interest. (And no, throwing yourself a big party because you’ve been breathing another year, or traveling from your house in this country to your house in that country and back again, it taking pics of your children and pie charts is NOT “substantial work” actually.)

Also, Wooten is ridiculous and unhinged.

  24. MellyMel says:

Man hasn’t even finished the first draft and they’re already losing their minds. Gotta love when the guilty tell on themselves.

  25. MsIam says:

Yawn. Man, he must have these columns saved in a flash drive. Next!

  26. Over it says:

Every damm point you made Kaiser is 💯 correct. These racist bitches made their hateful beds, now they can all go sleep in them . Burn it down Harry , burn it the F down.
I highly doubt he would anyway unfortunately. These people are all over reacting As normal because they are clowns.

  27. aquarius64 says:

KP is helping book sales because people feel the Windsors have something to hide.

  28. Lizzie says:

Remind me, who was helped more by the daily overblown outrage and ‘fighting back with bullying claims’ prior to the release of Finding Freedom or the Oprah interview? Spoiler alert it wasn’t the lambridges. The book was a best seller, the interview is nominated for an Emmy and they look looney tunes and now have to show Meghan’s lawyer non existent proof of bullying claims. I’m guessing the rf never have a lessons learned meeting. Nope, they just say ‘see that mistake, let’s keep doing it or it will look like we realize we made a mistake’.
After Sussexit they should have said ‘good luck to you’ and just never spoke about them anymore.

  29. Seaflower says:

Shameful and tasteless? Really? What is shameful and tasteless is:
    1. having a painting in your drawing room of black people being subjugated by whites as you entertain the first black US president and introduce your son to him (in his bathrobe)
    2. Wearing as close to white as possible on your new sister in laws wdding day (and deliberately getting it made when it was just a copy or a copy of your standard coat dress you already have in white/cream
    3. allowing a lie about your sister in law sit uncorrected in the press while she is pregnant
    4. turning up to your first meeting with the newly engaged biracial bride to be wearing a blackmoor broach – she knew exactly what she was doing
    5. making the Commonwealth service about you because of your rude and arrogant behaviour
    6. Making Philip’s funeral all about you because you refuse to walk next to your brother/appear like Alexis Carrington with heavy make up and dripping with jewels as you deliberately stare at the camera lens….

    i could go on.

    • Feeshalori says:

Clarification on #4, that was Princess Michael who wore that tasteless brooch, another outright racist in the family.

      • Seaflower says:

True, I meant to add that the person who wore it thinks shes above all the Windsors because of her bloodline, but got interrupted and forgot to clarify is was Princess M

      • Feeshalori says:

        Good summary though, Seaflower.😊

    • Demi says:

Don’t forget showing up without a mask at a vigil of a murdered young woman for PR

  30. lucy2 says:

I have to laugh at all the hand wringing and pearl clutching.
“He’ll never be able to come back to the family now!”
He doesn’t want to go back. That’s why he left for good.
“William thinks his behavior is terrible!”
Explain to me why Harry should care what William thinks about anything.

    • Over it says:

Absolutely. The British press and palaces are a pathetic bunch of clowns

    • TigerMcQueen says:

The “William thinks Harry’s behavior is terrible!” stuff cracks me the heck up.

It’s becoming more and more clear exactly who mentioned Archie’s skin color and there’s likely more things that were said along those lines about Meghan.

So, you know what, Wootey Boy? I’m pretty confident that Harry thinks William’s racism toward Meghan is pretty s***ty too. Go kick rocks.

  31. Over it says:

Can I also say that Harry has been done with Baldimort since he tried to destroy Meghan, so yeah, no need to worry about that relationship. Harry told willy to fuck off years ago.

  32. ennie says:

KP’s leaking to tabloids was shamed and tasteless.
Add to that their obvious defense of those “leakers”, one of them is still there after “quitting”.

  33. Sofia says:

The man who cheats on his wife wants to talk about tasteless and shameless behaviour? Okay.

And as for the Camilla tidbit, there might be something there, there might not. I just think it’s a general fear from Charles that anything less than “Camilla is the greatest person ever and we should make her Queen” is going to be “damaging” towards his efforts at rehabilitating her image.

  34. MerlinsMom1018 says:

Getting themselves all knotted up over a book that ain’t even out yet 😒
(With apologies to Shakespeare) methinks those folk doth protest a bit too much

  35. Rapunzel says:

So they think Harry is pocketing the book advance and only giving the profits to charity. And that he needs to donate the advance or he’s some money grubbing greed monster.

Now, I had thought yesterday that the 20 million was going to charity, and that Harry would have been a jerk not to write his memoirs to make such an amount for charity.

But I am fine with him keeping the advance and any other money that the publisher wants to give him. Whatever the proceeds end up being, it will be a lot for charity no matter what. This will be the biggest selling book of 2022, no doubt. It will easily make millions on top of the 20 million advance or even a 40-50 million total payout to Harry.

The Rota/BRF is just pissed that Harry isn’t going broke and in line at a Montecito soup kitchen. And that he’s still making more $ for charity than TOB ever has- even without donating the 20 million advance.

    • Feeshalori says:

Absolutely, as I said yesterday in another thread Harry is a working man now and he is no longer living on that rarefied royal air. He’s entitled to whatever he decides to keep from those book profits and I’m sick of these ratchets nickel and diming him to death over his earnings.

  36. Lori says:

Dan has this ability to incite that really should be checked by DM. Most of the time they moderate his comment section pretty hard too. And its not just to cut out anything overtly racist. Go ahead and try to say anything about Dan thats not “I agree Dan” and it never appears. Sometime his columns sit for hrs with 1 or 2 agreeing comments that everyone just likes. Then there’s the shares. Hundreds of shares to facebook and twitter where the comments are not particularly moderated at all. Hopefully Dan is being taken to task on those platforms.

  37. Gk says:

Harry he’s just the tip of the iceberg. You know Sophie/Edward/ Peter and so on are happy about this because they now realize they can threaten to do talk/ release the same to get what they want. It’s just the beginning.

  38. kelleybelle says:

I believe William is shameful and tasteless. He can have affairs and be a complete jackass yet Harry can’t write his memoirs? How many people actually give a FF what William thinks? Go home, Dan … and stay home.

  39. Gubbinal says:

It would be poetic justice if Harry writes about his passions and his experiences and barely gives a nod to the BRF. He could speak about his mother, of course (I suspect he will).
What if his siblings and father are merely a minor footnote?

And is Charles planning to give up the balcony crowd scenes which delight the public?

When I think of the rather dour face of Viscount Severn, Edward’s son, I think it might be a gift to him not to give him a bigger title than what he has.

  40. Jay says:

Dan, are we thinking about the same Queen – the one who insisted everyone celebrate her (fake) birthday in the midst of a pandemic? Neither torrential downpour, scandals, natural disasters, an economic meltdown, nor an actual plague has ever kept this woman away from enjoying her special day, and if Harry’s book CAN do that, well sh*t, I gotta preorder it then.

  41. intheknow says:

Shameful and tasteless is pruning your neighbour’s rose bushes without their permission.

    • kelleybelle says:

Wonder what he thinks of his Uncle Andrew’s behaviour … hmm, nothing about that in print, eh? A prolific liar, a pig, having sex with trafficked teenagers, hanging with a convicted pedophile … how would you describe that? Harry wants to share his memoirs and they’re losing their shit? The jokes are writing themselves again …

  42. Cary says:

The Royals can fight back and they will. It will be hidden and difficult to see.

    • Jaded says:

Which royals? William, Charles, Willnot and Kannot? Edward and Sophie? And it won’t be hidden and difficult to see, they’ve been as obvious as the noses on our faces so far…they fight dirty and get the tabloids/rota rats to do their dirty work for them.

    • Agreatreckoning says:

That’s a very cryptic comment. Harvey Weinstein employed similar tactics when the world wasn’t watching. Then the floodgates opened. Harvey’s not in a very good place now.

Curious what the Royals are so worried about.

    • Marivic says:

@ Cary. Just like how the Royals fought back with Diana? That it was the RF who got her killed. Yes that was their ultimate vengeance. Now they’re going to fight back against the Sussexes with the same ultimate goal? I don’t think if RF “takes down” any one of the Sussexes it would be difficult to hide and see. It may be hidden but not difficult to see.

  43. L4Frimaire says:

I think Dan Rotten is shameless and tasteless. The fact that William uses such slimy dishonest people to fluff him up, and has to attack his own family members to hide his own inadequacies and laziness says way more about William than some memoir ever will.

  44. HeyJude says:

When are the royals going to realize they torpedoed any chance for reconciliation the moment they refused to let Meghan get mental health help and were willing to let her die instead? And THEN AGAIN, the moment they pulled security funding for newborn Archie after making him, H, &M targets for racial hatred?!

That was it. It was over then. Catch the hell up.

Harry broke up with you all long time ago (and because you risked their lives, and didn’t just write some book) you creeps.

  45. Carmen-JamRock says:

    @Rapunzel
“Harry: The Me You Can See, Now That I’m Free”

    This one is perfect!
Nothing else needs to be said.

  46. Carmen-JamRock says:

I see a whole ass conversation upthread, started by @Talia (#11) with this opening speculative statement….”The thing is, he might be doing this partially for financial reasons…”

And then she went on to talk abt the cost of their security and then others jumped on that bandwaggon and went down a rabbit hole, etc.

What part of: “Prince Harry will be donating proceeds to charity” …. which came from the horse’s mouth itself (i:e Archewell) do folks not get?

I thought, given that the average commenter on this site speaks from a background of evidence, that such a recent statement would be easily recalled.

I’m shocked that folks arent joining the dots and seeing the significance of this statement……like the monies that M will get from ANL, the Sussexes are making the point that any revenues that, however tangentially, can be said to come from their former life, will not be used to benefit them in their new life but instead, given that it could be used to benefit others, then thats what theyll do: use it to benefit their charities.

This suggests to me that in addition to his life in the military; his mental health journey; and his experiences in setting up his charities from concept to completion (Invictus/Sentebale/Endeavor Fund/Travalyst/Headstart-HeadFit/Archewell/Etc) H’s memoir will DEFINITELY speak to what he experienced as The Spare: what this truly meant on the daily……thats what those f*krs are afraid of.

So because it WILL mention the Institution, he doesnt want that tainted money. So off to charity it will go.

  47. MangoAngelesque says:

Seriously, does William have a secret kid out there or something that Harry knows about? Is that what he’s so friggin’ terrified he’ll spill? Has anyone taken any comparison peeks at Rose’s children, on the Toff-chance any of them have a wonky hairline or signs of abnormally gritted teeth?

  48. Feebee says:

The narcissism and hypocrisy radiating out of the Palaces right now! It’s palpable.

Charles has written a book that more than side swiped his mother. Did he give her a heads up? So history repeats and he’s crapping himself?

2022 was supposed to be the Windsors’ year. EVERY YEAR IS THE WINDSORS’ YEAR. There always something. Ok, the Jubilee… that’s about the Queen and 1) I doubt Harry will be slamming his granny and 2) I think he’ll hold the book until after it. Even though it gives the press and Firm more bleating time and they make sure it overshadows the event.

William’s 40th. Could literally not give less of a shit about Bully-boy’s look-at-me milestone.

Diana’s 25th anniversary. Say again? They had the fucking gall to put this in a “Windsors’ year”? Speechless.

Lastly, this is a book about Harry. It’s Harry’s story. The pearl-clutching and the instant ‘offense is the best defense’ reactions are very telling. What the hell are they so worried about? What did they do to him that they don’t want in print? Are they going to find out about parts his life they didn’t know about because they didn’t give a shit about him when he was right there? It’s funny that everyone seems to be worried. They’re telling on themselves. I do not however think the York sisters are shook about this and I only mention them because they were included in the story. I mean they may be wondering about it but I imagine they’re probably laughing their heads off and thinking they just need to stay out of the way of the fallout.

  49. Leah says:

What’s ‘shameful & tasteless’ is William’s behavior toward his only sibling. The guy shows zero capacity for love or loyalty except when it benefits him directly or boosts his fragile ego.

William was a cute and endearing child but turned into a sour man with personality issues. I hope his children don’t turn out like him, especially George.

  50. Izzy says:

Well, the paragon of virtue has spoken on behalf of his puppet master. Bless their hearts.

  51. Christine says:

“He’s acting like a child” in the same breath we’re talking about how important it is for Baldingham to have all of the attention on his big-boy 40th birthday, R U serious.”

    LMAO! Kaiser out.

  52. Noor says:

What’s up with all these public chest beatings and war dances by palace insiders and reporters like Dan Wootton. Prince Harry is not the first royal or the last to write his life story.

    My take :

1.William has nothing to fear if his conduct is above board. All the shameless and tasteless leaks to defame Meghan as a bad person were mainly from his Kensington palace staff including Jason Knauf, and is a matter of public record.

    2. For Prince Charles and Camilla all the ugly details and self inflicted wounds are a matter of past records. They have survived and is now universally accepted as soul mates who make each other happy.

    3. Prince Harry should bear in mind his father Prince Charles is the next king and has suffered as much as he had or even more .

Be calm and carry on everyone. Best to ignore Dan Wootton and others of his ilk.

  53. Melly says:

It’s nice that Harry is donating the proceeds to charity but I would think no less of him if he kept it ALL. It’s good he’s keeping the advance. Why should he not profit of his own life? I say get money!

William is tone deaf. Harry is tasteless and shameless says the nearly 40 year old man living large on the welfare state!

  54. Curious says:

shameless is William, using his brother all these yrs, when his brother said enough is enough,he send the press after them with negative stories.his wife Catherine is a low class none entity. she thinks she is shinning by not correcting that lie, or many other lies that Meghan knows off. Catherine will be her own downfall. queen consort means nothing. they take no part in what the king does in public/politicians.but in this case Camilla will be in Charles ears , in William case, he won’t listen to a word out of Catherine mouth, she is too dim to be a queen consort. her brains are fried, she is only here so the press can talk about her clothes. she stands for nothing. William can’t control his temper and that will be his downfall. William goes stark mad when he loses control of people around him. he is one sick man, (I saw a VIDEO WHERE WILLIAM SAID, HE NEEDS TO HAVE CONTROL)who thinks he can control people to do his bidding. hell no. this man need to wake up to reality ,in the internet world no one wants anyone ruling over them..
