There is ‘growing disquiet’ at Buckingham Palace about Prince Harry’s memoir

Prince Louis christening

You know how I know that the Duchess of Sussex has very little to do with Prince Harry’s memoir? Because if it was Meghan’s project in any way, the information about the memoir would have been kept in lockdown and no one would have announced anything until everything was done and ready for publication. However Page Six/the Murdoch press found about Harry’s memoir, the Windsors have clearly been given a year-long lead time to attack Harry and, simultaneously, panic about what he will write. Kensington Palace and Clarence House have yet to make official statements, but it’s clear both William and Charles’s offices have been briefing against Harry this week. Dan Wootton at the Daily Mail had a lengthy piece full of unnamed palace sources bitching about Harry. Looks like Richard Kay at the Mail got the same calls from Charles and William’s courtiers. You can read Kay’s piece here. Some highlights:

Harry’s not mature enough to write a memoir: This surely is an undertaking that requires reflection and maturity. It is not one to be conducted in the heat of battle when focus can be lost, but years later after the dust has settled, a time when he could explain the actions he took and why. At the moment Harry’s and Meghan’s decisions to uproot themselves from Britain, their bombshell accusations about racism in the Royal Family and their complaints of abandonment in terms of emotional and financial support, are still painfully, brutally raw. The only explanation for a memoir now must be to capitalise on the publicity and huge fame that he has generated ever since Megxit.

This isn’t like Harry’s parents cooperating with biographers: Princess Diana’s collaboration with Andrew Morton resulted in a book written towards the conclusion of a period in her life when she was at the end of her tether. And while Jonathan Dimbleby’s life of Prince Charles did include some criticism of the Queen and Prince Philip, it was an authoritative study of a thoughtful, middle-aged king-in-waiting and his impressive achievements as Prince of Wales.

This is what they’re worried about: Might he name the family member who, according to the couple, made comments about the colour of their then unborn son Archie’s skin? He will surely have to offer an explanation for this most sensational of claims. Will he name the anonymous member of staff who appeared to airily dismiss Meghan’s worries about her mental welfare?

Why do they keep saying this? And then there is the contentious issue of his relationship with Prince William which potentially could be the most damaging of all for the long-term well-being of the monarchy.

Little advance warning: No one was saying yesterday just how much notice Harry gave his brother, father or grandmother ahead of the announcement of the book deal from New York. Very little, according to courtiers I spoke to who fear an avalanche of destructive revelations and inevitable recriminations. As one senior figure said: ‘It takes a special kind of hypocrisy to complain about your privacy and then to co-operate on an intimate memoir covering every aspect of your life.’

Growing disquiet: Might the reason he didn’t tell them sooner be that he knew what their reaction would be? Make no mistake, there is ‘growing disquiet’ at Buckingham Palace at the news and concern about its impact on the monarchy. Indeed, the reaction was reminiscent of that caused by the announcement of Princess Diana’s secretive Panorama interview in 1995.

Wow, Charles is really worried about what Harry will say about Camilla: So who might be in the firing line? Insiders fear the targets could include Charles, William, Camilla and the institution itself. ‘He is unlikely to criticise his late mother or his grandmother the Queen,’ is the view of one courtier. ‘But for everyone else it’s tin-hat time.’…In private he has made uncomplimentary comments about his stepmother the Duchess of Cornwall. In the hands of socially unaware Harry, exploring any one of these in more detail could be incendiary.

[From The Daily Mail]

Kay also insists – as all British commentators do – that Harry only got the book deal, the Netflix deal and the Spotify deal because he’s a royal prince. To which I say “lol.” If being a prince is all it takes, that we should definitely see if anyone at Netflix wants to give $100 million to the Other Brother, or Pervert Andrew or Prince Edward. As for the rest of it… Charles’ people clearly went to Kay and Wootton and laid on the “woe is me” act, mentioning Camilla specifically, as if Mean Harry has just been waiting to rip his stepmother to shreds. It’s a feint. Charles and William are more concerned about what Harry will write about Charles and William. And what Harry will reveal about what THEY said about Meghan’s race, and the skin color of the Sussex babies.

Is it possible Camilla is the one who referenced the color the archies skin, and they’re showing their hand??

    • jazzbaby1 says:

My money’s been on her since the interview.

      • anance says:

There’s a moment during H&M’s wedding when the black preacher was preaching that Camilla turned to Kate to discuss something. Kate kept an immobile smile plastered on her face. But, yes, Camy’s body language — what is this? who are these black people? why are they here?

      • Nic919 says:

Kate had a smirk going on at that moment too. While we could not see what Camilla was doing because the hat hid her face, Kate was not doing herself any favours.

      • MJM says:

Naw Camilla’s concerns about skin tone would be pretty inconsequential. An heir to the throne’s concerns would be a much bigger deal. PlusI don’t think Cam gives an f.

      • MCG says:

        Mine too!

      • aftershocks says:

I agree with MJM. Although Cam ‘The Rottweiler’ is no angel, she has appeared to get along well with Meghan publicly. And Harry has been supportive of Cam in the past, against tabloid attacks. None of Harry’s family members showed any class during Bishop Curry’s lengthy ‘sermon.’ Bottom line: No matter how Camilla truly feels, she has ‘no skin’ in this particular game of thrones. And no power whatsoever to engage in convos with Harry about his future offspring, surrounding titles and lack of security.

We know it was jealous Willy who made the skin color comments, backed up by Charles. Harry may reference the episode in his book, but probably briefly, and I doubt he’ll ever name names. He’s already eliminated who wasn’t involved. Therefore, this is not the mystery those telling on themselves seem to think it is.

    • MellyMel says:

I was just gonna ask that as well. Very interesting.

    • equality says:

Could be that William is deflecting onto Camilla and maybe even projecting what he would say about her if he wrote a memoir.

      • Kfg says:

It was Kate and William. William hates Camilla too so yeah they’re going to be briefing against each other and telling on themselves in the process. I think will is worried about Harry saying Kate came onto him and how will is a double. But hey Betty is petty af. She’s burning the institution down bc she sees how incompetent her heirs are. Plus, Charles getting rid of her advisors and controlling her. Lolol Harry is her revenge too. I’m loving this.

      • Simone says:

I read that Camilla has had a weekly chat with a Sun journalist since Diana was alive – she was very much a part of the Diana character assassination. Omid said it was both KP & CH briefing against Meghan. It appears William & Kate are preparing to throw Camilla under the bus for briefing against Meghan.

      • Sunday says:

I think all the mentions of Camilla are a deflection, but to me what stands out is that suddenly Camilla is being name dropped all over the place while simultaneously there is not one word about Kate. Has Kate finally just decided not to embarrass herself anymore with her keen briefings that almost always backfire? Or are they throwing Camilla under the bus to protect Kate?

Don’t get me wrong, I think Camilla was a total b*tch to Meghan (and before that, to Harry). There were those stories initially about Camilla having lunch(es) with Meghan and I can only imagine the passive aggressive “helpful” advice she gave her. So, I guess Camilla could really be worried about what Harry will say, but to me it’s really strange that all of a sudden there’s zero mention of the ffqc.

      • Nic919 says:

There is no way Charles would be telling the media he’s concerned about Harry’s relationship with Camilla thus putting a target on her and making people question if she asked the skin colour question. So this unnamed source is clearly coming from KP. Charles is not that dumb with his PR to set Camilla up like that. He’s actually protected his spouse, unlike William.

      • Becks1 says:

@Nic and equality – agree with both of you. Camilla’s name is out there as a way to deflect, no way would Charles say “I don’t want anyone talking about Harry’s relationship with Camilla” bc all that does is make people wonder (like many of us in this thread) – well what is the problem with Harry’s relationship with Camilla?

I think this is coming from KP.

      • equality says:

@Kfg William might be happy if Harry said Kate came onto him. It would give him something if he is wanting a divorce. His PR could be “she came onto my own brother.”

      • Christine says:

        Agreed, this reeks of KP.

      • Nivz says:

Exactly. If Charles were worried about this, it would do him no favours for his courtiers to discuss this line. As said above, it shows his hand.

Otoh, it’s a sneaky little jibe for KP to try. Deflects from them, and hurts Camilla. That was my first impression. I would love to hear other theories too.

    • Alexandria says:

It would be a nothing burger if she said it. And HM said that person’s reputation would suffer. Her reputation is not exactly pristine. I’m still going with TOB. He has the most to lose.

    • S808 says:

Yeah I mentioned this in the other topic but it’s really weird that she keeps getting specifically mentioned all of a sudden. Folks say she’s not high up on his shit list to be mentioned but RRs seem real worried about what could be said about her for some reason.

      • Sure says:

Watch Meghan greeting Camilla at the 2020 Commonwealth Day church service. It’s excruciatingly awkward and it’s clear that she makes more of an effort to appear friendly when greeting Charles, Kate and even William than she does with Camilla. That woman did something to hurt Meghan!

      • anance says:

Since the marriage of doom in 1981, Camilla is always been in the background causing trouble.

      • Nic919 says:

RRs fed by William would easily toss her name out there to deflect from William. Because it’s not like William likes Camilla much either.

I am not saying Camilla is perfect, but this is sloppy and Charles is not sloppy with his PR about Camilla.

    • Killfanora says:

Harry lobs a grenade and saunters off, laughing….

      • Liz version 700 says:

Haha yes Killfanora (great name!) Harry seems to have a particular talent and penchant for lobbing grenades at his family and then stepping back and watching them deconstruct themselves for all to see.

    • Lila says:

It wasn’t just one person, there were multiple conversations, so it’s very possible it was all of them. I think the first one to talk about it was William in that “you’re going too fast” conversation. When the tabloids so aggressively tried to portray it as brotherly concern, I knew something was up.

To be honest, I don’t put it past any of them to be nervous about their lily white family becoming less white.

      • ArtHistorian says:

The most damning thing is that so many people think that it could be literally any member of the BRF who made the comments about Archie’s skin tone – deep down, the general public knows that the BRF is racist as a whole.

      • Fawsia says:

Camilla doesn’t get involved in Charles’s kid’s drama! This was someone very familiar with Harry and if isn’t his grandparents it is his father or brother!

      • Seraphina says:

@ArtHistorian, this is sadly very true.

      • anance says:

Comments about a baby’s appearance are common among family members. “She looks just like Great Uncle Hank, poor thing!”

However, for these conversations to be cruel they need to be

        - Tied to racial language or slurs. As in, “What will are our royal photos going to look like with their children in them? We might as well be in a council house with all those brown little ones walking around in diapers.”

        - Tied to preventing the wedding.

        - Several people spoke and it was an ongoing conversation. Charles stating “Harry, everyone gets jungle fever, a discreet affair is fine. But don’t marry her and don’t be photographed with her.”

        - Questions about Meghan’s blackness. Kate stating “She must buy whitening cream by the bucket load.”

      • Maria says:

Anance – it is for precisely that reason that in the interview Meghan did not say the family was curious.
She said there were “concerns” about how dark he would be and how that would reflect on the family.
We already know the message of what was said.
We don’t know the details or who it was, though. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it was headed by one person but he was backed up by the rest.

    • Demi says:

I still think it’s Charles there are many clues during the Oprah interview

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Demi, I think it started with W asking when he told Harry to “slow down”. I also think that Kate was part of that, because she’s always been toooooooo involved in Harry’s personal life or at least trying to be involved in his personal life. PC could have come later, once Meghan was pregnant. Yes, Meghan said that K “was a good person” during the interview. I don’t think anyone here believes she meant that. I do think she didn’t want to leave anyone wondering if K was the person who was concerned about the color of Archie’s skin. Although that would have been more than difficult for Meghan to say about her, I do think that Harry & Meghan went into that interview determined not to out anyone regarding that issue. So, anyone thinking that Kmart didn’t have any comments about that? I believe you’re wrong.

I think we have Camilla’s name popping up because they tried to float Anne and it didn’t work. So, now they start on Camilla? I’m not saying she didn’t think the same way as the others, but I am saying I don’t think she was ever involved in the “talks” with Harry.

    • HeyJude says:

Could be, then again I’m positive there’s been more than one ugly racial moment behind closed doors with these people. Perhaps it’s something we haven’t heard of yet.

  2. Oh_Hey says:

I still can’t get over the complaint that one is blindsided by something with a years notice – and let’s be honest we all know Harry told Elizabeth and she knew to keep it under wraps likes she always does.

I agree that Meghan would have kept this quiet until the book appeared on pre-order but I also think Harry is unbothered at this point. I still think this will be a book of stories about him becoming a man and a father through his military and charitable service. Any tea will be minimal to nonexistent.

    • Alexandria says:

My theory is this is for protection or insurance. If he was secretly writing a book and something unfortunate happened to Harry, we would be in the dark on what would be revealed. Now he’s laying his cards out. They can’t make up an unfortunate incident to prevent this book.

      • LaraW” says:

That’s an interesting theory. Paranoid, but when people are gunning after your children and love of your life, perhaps justifiably so.

God, Meghan is a saint. Like, Harry better be grateful every single f-cking day that she’s still with him because her life was, from a purely press-related and safety perspective, better without him.

    • Lizzie says:

I cannot get over the complaint that they were blindsided by anything Harry does. PC leaves the country when his son comes to town. If Charles and TOB refuse to speak face to face with Harry that is on them. So there cannot be a heads up from Harry, that doesnt mean anyone is blindsided. It’s just news to you.

    • Pao says:

@oh hey: i echo this sentiment and i somewhat hope that any talk of his father and brother will be kept to a minimum. And we know for sure that the queen knew Harpers Bazaar had the confirmation from harry’s spokesperson that buckingham palace was aware.

    • MJM says:

LOL that’s kind of what people said prior to the Oprah interview and we got some rich Earl Grey from that so wait and see.

  3. Snuffles says:

“This isn’t like Harry’s parents cooperating with biographers: Princess Diana’s collaboration with Andrew Morton resulted in a book written towards the conclusion of a period in her life when she was at the end of her tether. And while Jonathan Dimbleby’s life of Prince Charles did include some criticism of the Queen and Prince Philip, it was an authoritative study of a thoughtful, middle-aged king-in-waiting and his impressive achievements as Prince of Wales.”

    🙄🙄🙄

Bullshit. It’s EXACTLY the same. The only difference is that Harry has the balls to put his name on it and take full ownership.

    • equality says:

Yep. Wouldn’t the statement about Diana exactly mirror Harry’s situation now? They contradict themselves.

    • Bloemheks says:

@Snuffles Despite all signs to the contrary they still refuse to accept this is the conclusion. He’s not coming back.

    • Chaine says:

“ his impressive achievements as Prince of Wales”. Bwhahaha meaning the hobbies he pursued with the almost limitless unearned money and undeserved power conferred upon him by the mere luck of his birth into one of the wealthiest families on the planet.

      • Mac says:

Charles founded a huge charity called The Prince’s Trust that has been doing serious charitable work for decades. Also, his line of Duchy Originals, which was designed to promote organic farming and support local farmers in Cornwall, was years ahead of the curve on sustainable agriculture.

      • Elizabeth says:

Mac, that doesn’t remotely address the severe inequality he maintains, it doesn’t excuse his racist treatment of Meghan and it doesn’t change the fact that while he’s selling expensive jams, children in England — a very rich country — are food insecure. The queen is so rich, she and her family could end hunger in their country but they won’t give up their power and money. Performative charity. Best described as a hobby or PR.

      • Maria says:

Charles treats the Duchy of Cornwall as a cash cow and a tax write off. He’s raised rents on grandfathered leases as is his “right” and has put legal roadblocks in place to keep tenants from purchasing their properties. The revenue from the Duchy, that Charles is entitled to, has skyrocketed in recent years and there are no concrete answers as to why when his offices are asked.

The Prince’s Trust has had a lot of shady things going on with it too. Questionable political donations, questionable use of large bequests, etc. It’s done some good for some people. but rest assured, it’s not squeaky clean.

      • Premadonna says:

I actually think you and Mac (the first reply to your comment) are BOTH right. Yes Charles’ Duchy Organics line has certainly had a positive effect on farms in Cornwall, it was still a GIGANTIC protocol violation in that royals are NOT supposed to use their royal status to generate commercial income for themselves. And yet as far as we know NO ONE in the Firm has a problem with this glaring hypocrisy. Not to mention that before Duchy Organics Charles was hardly strapped for cash. And if DO was REALLY just about promoting organic farming and giving a boost to Cornwall farms, then donate the proceeds!!! Donate the proceeds to environmental non-profits. The hypocrisy of it is what kills me the most though. Remember how the RR freaked out when Meghan promoted Clever Blends? Ridiculous

    • BayTampaBay says:

YES! Harry’s book is exactly the same thing as Charles’ and Diana’s book.

      • Nic919 says:

The main difference is that he’s more honest about providing the information. (I still don’t think it will be the tell all that the other books were).

      • Harper says:

Yes, nice try Richard Kay. Diana was at the end of her tether, so we understand her book. And Charles was … uh, er, Kay searches for an apt excuse for two hours and then comes back to the article with “thoughtful” and “meditative” which I guess is an okay way to criticize Her Majesty today.

These rota rats are drooling over what is to come in Harry’s book and their faux concern is extremely transparent.

    • Christine says:

Thank you, I died at “authoritative study”.

Also, I fully bark/laughed at “socially unaware Harry”. Right, the one member of the royal family who oozes charm and ease is definitely not Harry. Not at all. Keep saying it, and I’m sure someone, somewhere will believe it, maybe?

    • Julia says:

I enjoyed that for the other royal commentator Harry is too old for this stuff, and for this one he’s too young and immature. But for ALL of them, I’m creeped out by how they portray the RF as “powerless”. You can’t have it both ways: either Charles and William are at the top of the food chain and they just expected Harry and Meghan to buckle down and accept their place in the family hierarchy (which would obviously justify their desire to leave), OR the remaining royals are truly “trapped” by their unique situation and expected H&M to stay and be trapped, too, but without the prestige of being an heir (which would also justify their desire to leave!)

  4. Ariel says:

Over and over the clearly racist press is concerned about the accusations of racism and how naming the racist will hurt the racist and what a sin/tragedy that is.
Without any thought to the evils of the actual racism the Duchess had to live through.
White supremacy is alive and well.

  5. DuchessL says:

I think this book will expose the link between the RF and the how the press is ROTTEN. How those royal reporters create fiction, how they crank hatred, how they manipulate the Royals, and how royals are jealous petty b!tches who have no loyalty towards one another and throw one another under the bus to uo themselves. Do it Harry, so they gonna be scared to ever talk to the rotten press ever again about you. This is actually the final nail for the RF and british ROTTEN Press

    • Amy Bee says:

I definitely think Harry’s going to talk about this. He started it in the Oprah interview and he will finish it in the book.

    • equality says:

And hopefully some of the staff also. I hope Knauff is worried and Angela Kelly.

      • Ginger says:

I hope he talks about Thomas and his “heart attack” before the wedding. What went on there?

  6. Becks1 says:

The bit about how he’s too young to write a memoir…..lots of people write memoirs after significant moments in their lives (athletes, activists, etc.) I did not expect a memoir from him at this point in time, but I can see the reasoning behind it for him – to close out the royal chapter of his life and move forward with the next chapter .

Anyway the scrambling from the palaces is hilarious. They are so scared about what he might say.

    • Pao says:

Yes they are and what will be revealed by them because of it will be something to behold. I think this book will mostly focus on harry himself and the mistakes HE made. I don’t think he will reveal anything that he hasn’t said already. But we will see what the windsor clan is willing to reveal because they are in utter panic,

    • Elizabeth Kerri Mahon says:

The idea that he’s not mature enough is ludicrous. Harry is older than Diana was when she cooperated with Andrew Morton on Diana, Her True Story. He’s been through some shit, not just his mother dying, but his time in the army in Afghanistan and Iraq, his relationships with Chelsey and Cressida, his courtship with Meghan, his marriage, children, his mental health. I think he’s going to spend more time taking the courtiers and media to task than his own family.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Elizabeth Kerri Mahon, I agree to a certain extent. I think we’re going to learn about his mistakes along the way, the people he met along the way who helped him mature, the charities like sentabale, Invictus, and Endeavor, etc. that he worked to make happen. I hope that we’ll find out the men he met along the way that helped him to become the man he is. I really feel like that’s what he wants us to know. But, he definitely wants to take the RRs and BM down for what they’ve one in the past. He’ll probably go after “the men in grey”. I think interactions with the family are going to be that–not some shots at the brf. So, if Chuck and Walmart are concerned? Well, they should have been better people to begin with. But I don’t expect secrets to be revealed. We’ll all have to wait, however, to read it when it gets published. Then everyone’s curiosity will be satisfied.

    • LaraW” says:

With respect to the timing aspect, I can understand why he’d write it now rather than later. Traumatic experiences have a tendency to meld together into one giant blob to the point you don’t remember what happened when. Prolonged exposure to trauma leads to a fragmentation of a person’s sense of time and chronology. To this day I have to concentrate and think about how old I was for some of the major milestones in life: when I graduated, got my first job, took a year traveling the world. I can’t remember what year it was when I started my current job. For that matter, I have trouble remembering when I got my driver’s license, even though in the US everyone gets it when they’re sixteen. I only know that I didn’t get it when I was sixteen— I put it off. But did I put it off until 17 or 18? I have no clue.

It’s the same thing that happened to a lot of people during the Trump presidency. Do you (the general you, not you specifically, Becks1) remember what year the Mueller investigation started? When Trump was impeached the first time? When George Floyd was killed? The first time covid hit international news? The first major outbreak of covid? Do you remember which order the events unfolded? These are events people would normally remember at least the year, but the four years with the Trump admin are just one blur of tweets and outrage.

Also, I find it telling that the RF is so far up their asses that everything H&M do must automatically be something about THEM. Like, it’s inconceivable to them that Harry might want to talk about his own life, not his life as it solely touches theirs.

      • Christine says:

That is a really excellent point. I can’t put any of the things you listed in chronological order, unless they are no-brainers, like graduating or getting my driver’s license, because I was there at 6 am the day I was old enough to get my permit (15.5 in Oklahoma, at the time) and 6 am the day I turned 16 to turn permit to license. As for the rest? Big blur.

I can’t even remember the order of Trump’s two Secretaries of Defense, and that is downright embarrassing.

    • Lila says:

Their claim that he’s too young is so ridiculous to me. Yeah, he’s 38, but how many 38 year olds have experienced what he has? Even without what happened in the last five years, his life is very interesting. I would love to know more about the work he’s done (and is doing) to get past his bias and all of that.

By the way, I think this is also something that scares the crap out of the BRF, the possibilty of Harry openly acknowledging that he grew up in a racist family. I don’t know if he will, but that’s making them nervous.

    • HeyJude says:

The bit about how he’s too young to write a memoir…..lots of people write memoirs after significant moments in their lives”

Significant moments like say serving under combat in a war? And expedition to the Artic by foot? Living in Africa and working with orphans? Working trying to save elephants populations from poachers on wildlife reserves in Africa.

Like literally any one of these could be a book by themselves.

  7. GuestWho says:

Why is it they are all so sure the book is going to be focused on the royal family. I suspect they will be tangential and not the main focus. Just WHAT has got these people so shook? LOL.

All they had to do was treat him and his much beloved wife with respect and keep their mouths shut once they left. Let them fret and tell on themselves for the next year. It will be like the run up to Finding Freedom – they told on themselves way more than the book did.

    • (TheOG) Jan90067 says:

In his last speech, when he told his charity he was stepping away, remember his words: “If you knew what I know about this family….”

Harry KNOWS where the “bodies” are buried. He KNOWS enough to have them quaking in their custom made boots. Personally, although I’m almost certain he won’t, I hope he blows it all up nuclear, and doesn’t look back.

    • LaraW” says:

Honestly, I love how through this briefing against Harry, they essentially provide confirmation for what he said during the interview. I take this excerpt as complete admission, despite the fact that it’s couched in terms like “according to the couple,” “who appeared to”:

“Might he name the family member who, according to the couple, made comments about the colour of their then unborn son Archie’s skin? He will surely have to offer an explanation for this most sensational of claims. Will he name the anonymous member of staff who appeared to airily dismiss Meghan’s worries about her mental welfare?”

With respect to the skin color conversation, I think everyone talked about it. But I guess they’re referring to the idiot(s) who had the gall to “discuss” it with Harry.

      • Topaz says:

@LaraW that is what I am looking forward to for the next year, confirming every single aspect of the Oprah interview to be true. With all these briefings for the next year we will get all the details confirmed and hopefully the RR will be dismantled into 1000 pieces.

    • heyhey says:

Haha came here for this! Who says its about them?! Oprah was to set the record straight, we know we will get more of that at some point – I don’t think there is going to be much of that in his memoir. He has spent his whole life traveling the world, with access to cultures and stories we can’t even imagine, is a veteran, and has had consistently spoke about mental health in a very thoughtful studied way.

  8. girl_ninja says:

We will hear about this book every single day for the next 2 1/2 years. The UK media is such a dumpster fire.

  9. NCDancer says:

I love that they are bringing back the “dumb Harry” narrative. Because ignorant, socially inept people like Harry manage to get jobs with Silicon Valley start-ups, produce TV specials and attract noted ghostwriters. It’s all so tedious.

    • MF1 says:

Yeah, I LOL’ed at the ” socially unaware Harry” bit. Not only is Harry smarter than Charles and William put together, he’s *easily* the most socially aware person in the entire family. That’s why people love him and find him so charming.

    • Amy Too says:

So socially inept that he was able to immediately connect with, reciprocally love, and marry a woman whose race, nationality, educational background, socioeconomic background, career, life experience, and family situation were entirely different than his own. So socially inept that he’s constantly referred to over the course of decades as everyone’s favorite royal/cousin/grandchild/child/ friend/patron/solider/colleague.

    • Nic919 says:

It’s amazing how they try to make Harry look like the dumb one when there are others who have actually said dumb things like “can you taste the smell by smelling it”. Or be unable to make a brief introduction without cue cards.

    • Ginger says:

They need Harry to be dumb so they can push their narratives. Harry is clearly intelligent and can write a book about his life. They want to push that he is dumb so no one will take what he says seriously. Harry is the only intelligent blood royal in that family. Just listen to him speak, he knows what he is talking about. He wasn’t allowed to be smart, that had to be William ( who clearly isn’t very intelligent if you hear him speak)

  10. Merricat says:

All this kerfuffle and alarm and drama over everything the Sussexes say and do is so damning. No one gets this worked up over foolishness; their reaction says they have plenty to hide.
I like that Harry pays no attention to their reaction from the sidelines. He’s busy getting on with things.

    • Pao says:

It really says a lot about what happens behind the scenes when everytime meghan and harry speak the palace goes into utter panic mode. What did they to that woman that was so bad that warrants this reaction. Clearly denying her help when she was suicidal wasn’t the worst of it.

    • Capepopsie says:

@Merricat this is exactly what I believe too! They are giving themselves away reacting so violently!

  11. Ainsley7 says:

Someone at the publisher’s leaked info about Harry’s memoir. It’s the same thing that happened with the Oprah interview. Although that wasn’t leaked quite so far ahead of time. H&M can only control their people. I’m not saying that Meghan is all that involved in this, but I don’t see how she could have magically prevented it. She wasn’t able to prevent the Oprah leak either.

  12. Lady Digby says:

Best response from royal biographer Penny Junor who has written several books on RF including one on Harry. She believes it is unwise of him to tell his own life story! Yes the hypocrisy of making a good living off other people but denying them the right to speak or write for themselves. Clearly she and Angela Levin believe their reliance on second hand gossip trumps Harry’s lived experience, really you can’t make these people up!

  13. Lizzie says:

Harry didn’t start this fight but it looks like he will be the last man standing.

  14. Gigi says:

“Might he name the family member who, according to the couple, made comments about the colour of their then unborn son Archie’s skin?”

FFS, Harry already said he will never disclose the name and that he doesn’t want to speak on it. Willnot, consider yourself lucky your little brother is able to stay quiet. But even if Harry did mention it was an heir who said, we know that the Tories AND media would close rank around the perpetrator and protect them.

    • Jais says:

Yeah I keep thinking that Harry said he would never publicly say who made the racist comment. Technically he could change his mind and explain why in the book. Like I was never going to name names but then they just kept on, smearing my daughter’s name etc. and didn’t they film the interview before the bullying allegations? That might change his mind. Still don’t think he will but it’s possible.
Also, Kay states that the potentially most damaging part could be anything that has to do with William. Like this is what I’m most curious about. What’s so damaging about William aside from the racism? All this tip toeing around William has got me so curious.

      • heyhey says:

I’m sure its just about his affairs and how dumb he is!

      • AnonyCat says:

There are many allegations of William stealing credit for Harry’s work, then there is also the stealing of the engagement ring and the fact that William made lots of disparaging comments on Harry. He could also touch on potential boundary issues. And honestly the biggest one would be saying that him and William were never all that close past high school.

  15. Trix says:

“Growing disquiet” is a very polite euphemism for “never ever being able to shut up.”

Also what tea does Harry have to tell? We’re on what Day 2 of this? And they’re telling on themselves with all the speculation.

I still will buy this book. Worth every cent of busting this clown show up.

    • Alexandria says:

      I’m definitely buying it.

    • Christine says:

Hee! They are selling me extra copies of the book, at this point. All of the adults in my family will receive it for Christmas, I don’t care if my brothers can’t reliably name a single member of the royal family. I doubt they know Elizabeth is the Queen’s first name, but they NEED this book.

      • Saucy&Sassy says:

Christine, I was just imagining my brothers and if I got this book for them and told them they NEED it! I doubt they could name any member of the brf either. You know, it would be worth it to see their expressions.

  16. Amy Bee says:

The Camilla angle has me intrigued. The royalists have always insisted that Harry accepted Camilla, based off of a statement of support he made years ago, but these briefings have exposed the truth about their relationship. Another thing, the royal source said that Harry didn’t have the maturity or reflection to write a memoir. Harry has been in therapy, I’m sure has done a lot of reflection over the years.

  17. ModeratelyWealthy says:

All they had to do was to write a public apology saying they were sorry not to have helped and protected more, wishing them well, and a heartfelt, private one, vowing to work things out now they were no longer working royals, but NOOO, gotta double down, gotta point fingers, gotta leak, leak and leak and hide behind a 95 years old woman” feelings”, expect Harry to keep quiet to save the old lady from “embarrassment. and now that this fail, well, plan b it is- complaining, complaining, complaing

  18. Calibration says:

Once again his immature, not old enough… It’s exactly the same as his mother’s book. He has a, lot to write about, his life has been varied and interesting and if others can write his biography, then surely he can write a memoir?

I don’t think he’ll out them for skin colour. I can’t see him doing that. I’m not expecting too much tea spilled.

  19. Sofia says:

“ as if Mean Harry has just been waiting to rip his stepmother to shreds.” Well, if he wants to do that, be my guest! He should hold a grudge against her and Chuck (at least I would), but I guess he is a better (and bigger) person than anyone else.
The one thing that I find peculiar is that suddenly lots of people mention Camilla and my spidery senses are tingling

  20. MsIam says:

Who cares? We already know that these racist backstabbers don’t like anything the Sussexes do and somehow they are always wrong! However, I think Harry has had this on lockdown for a while, probably since at least last year with no leaks. Its not like its some thrown together book like these unauthorized “biographers” churn out.

  21. equality says:

He is “capitalizing on his fame since Megxit”? Harry has always been more popular than the other RF members except for the Queen. The RF and BM made him famous by constantly writing about him from the time he was born. All his mistakes were seen and then he apologized so he seemed more human and approachable than the rest. Being Diana’s son was definitely a boost also. And “socially unaware Harry”? He seems to be the most compassionate and relatable of all of them. He certainly doesn’t clench his jaw and give his wife nasty looks in public or send greetings to all the ethnic groups. Also notice that not even William is concerned about Kate and how she will feature.

    • Becks1 says:

Also, that’s literally what people do to make money. I don’t like using the term “capitalizing on his fame” bc I know the RRs are using it in a negative sense…..but yes, that’s what he’s doing. He’s capitalizing on the fact that people know his name, know his family, know his wife, have some idea of his background and story but not the whole picture – he’s not your average Joe writing a memoir about growing up and getting married (but there are plenty of those out there as well.) A movie like the Eternals is capitalizing on Angelina Jolie to bring attention to it (I think it looks good, but would we have posts here talking about it without AJ? Maybe, but its less likely.) Oprah “capitalizes on her fame” all the time to sell her magazine and promote certain projects etc. That’s how you make money – strike while the iron is hot and all that. I’m not shading AJ or the Eternals or Oprah or anyone else who does this. It’s……what people do.

And what did people think he was going to do? Never show his face in public again? Beg for handouts from the royal family for the next 50 years?* No, he’s internationally famous and he’s going to use that to help people AND to make money for himself and his family and that’s part of the reasons Americans are fine with him, because we understand making money.

*I mean, that’s what the royals expected him to do and the RRs, but once they said “we’re out” that was never going to be what happened.

  22. taris says:

what really bothers the palace and their allies in the media is this:
🔸they thought the worst was behind them after the oprah interview, and they were starting to get a little comfortable and were going on offense with the unhinged smear campaign
🔸they were also hoping to hold some stuff over h+m’s heads and act completely hysterical for the foreseeable future – we saw this quite recently with the stuff about baby lili’s baptism, the jubilee (and the nonsense regarding the balcony standing arrangements, like who cares?), as well as the never-ending investigation into the ‘bullying’
🔸now, though – intentionally or not – harry has gone and flipped the script on them; so now, *they’re* the ones on edge for the next year, and instead of framing the narrative and throwing around anti-sussex smear like confetti like they were planning to, they’re back to playing defense, and they’re scared shitless

as much as they like to crow endlessly about the sussex’s supposed irrelevance, they know there’s a global audience to what harry (and meghan) say and do. they’re straight up admitting that whatever harry says about the firm has the power to impact public (global) opinion of the monarchy. and they’re right.
also, because they know harry and meghan have been telling the truth, they keep playing the ‘how dare harry and meghan attack us like this when everybody knows we can’t defend ourselves’ card.
    please.

if the royal family and their media allies were smart, they’d cool it with the hysterics over the sussexes once in a while. they really do tell on themselves when they start to panic and expose themselves like this.

  23. ABritGuest says:

I hope Angela Levin, Phil Dampier & others who have written bios on Harry will not be invited to speak about him anymore as clearly he was too young to be written about. Also Charles’ Dimbleby bio had more than a little criticism of Elizabeth & Philip& even claimed Philip forced him to marry Diana who he never loved but BP backed it.

And I know the palaces who leaked everything from nasty nicknames to the half in half out plans to alleged disapproval over a newborn’s name are not talking about hypocrisy over privacy?

Idea that Harry would drag Camilla doesn’t ring true as feel like he’s been the main one in the family apart from Charles who’s been publicly supportive of her- saying she’s not a wicked stepmother, the public should feel sorry for her & how she makes Charles happy.

I think this is similar to story pre Oprah interview which claimed that Meghan was going to accuse Camilla& Kate’s office of leaking which was just to protect the heirs. So they might be preemptively throwing Camilla under the bus. Whilst I don’t doubt that Harry & Camilla aren’t that close I think his main problems have been with Charles & William. Or they are concerned that Harry will discuss how CHARLES’ relationship with Camilla impacted him post Diana’s death.

Harry said he would never discuss who asked about the skin tone & I think he will stick to that. The press know who it was & who was behind smears & most of their hype around this memoir is they WANT Harry to spill the tea so they can discuss what they already know under the guise of Harry betraying his family.

    • Jais says:

Yeah, I think you’re right in that they do want Harry to spill the tea so they can write about what they really know. Imagine the RR is actually loving this.

  24. Merricat says:

I think Camilla is a distraction. When a person who is not your family hurts you, it leaves less lingering pain than when family members abuse you daily.
She might not be on Harry’s Happy List, but I think Harry has bigger accounts to settle. Putting those accounts on record is him taking ownership of his life away from the rota who’ve tried to steal it and profit from it.

  25. Lili says:

i’m curious, what is the process like working with a Ghost Writer? my only frame of reference was a bit in Madam Secretary where the ghost writer gave her a list of questions to answer, then in the end MS gave up because she felt she was essentailly writing it all her self.

  26. TeamAwesome says:

If all you had to be was a Prince, Edward’s show business endeavors wouldn’t have failed miserably and Pedo wouldn’t have sold his soul and anything else that wasn’t nailed down to fund his lifestyle. Being a Prince may open the door or get you the meeting but you have to have something else to take it the distance.

  27. 809Matriarch says:

Growing discontent at BP? Heck the storms over there are more active than the Gulf Coast Hurricane season. There is always some kind of turmoil in that Klan/Firm bc they specialize in backstabbing with impunity and not being called out. Well we’re all weather ready.

  28. Eurydice says:

Are they throwing Camilla under the bus? If they want to protect her image and prepare the landscape for her being named Queen, this doesn’t sound like what you want as an immediate reaction to the memoir.

  29. S808 says:

Again, I don’t think bombs will be dropped in this book but the fact that they’re so worried about what could be said about Camilla is really something.

    • Jaded says:

I agree. I’ll never forget her sneering smile and sarcastic “course” when asked if she’d miss Harry and Meghan once they stepped down. Add her smirking with Kate during their wedding and that kinda says it all.

    • clomo says:

Their reaction is only fueling fire and selling more books. There is something rotten going on in those palaces.

  30. Scorpion says:

These people are going to trip and cannibalize each other before the book is published. Im betting by this time next next year, we will know who made what comment?

  31. Decaff says:

And this is why in the exit negotiations they should have given Harry and Meghan a shedload of cash to start their new life in return for signing NDAs. But Charles & Wills were too stingy and shortsighted to do it…

    • Christine says:

Were they really? Wow, I didn’t know that, that is an extra layer of stupid.

Queue the “but Charles and William thought they could TRUST Harry, he’s FAMILY” articles, that are surely coming. Right back at’cha, Chuck and Wills. This is like “who shot first”, and the royal family is going to juggle knives to rewrite Harry’s history, while freaking out that Harry is writing about his actual history.

  32. Over it says:

At this point Harry can leave out all the shady shit his family did to him because they will have all revealed it themselves before the year is up.
Shut up shut up , get off Megs back . It’s Harry book. Not hers. Why must we always blame the black woman for everything.? See Harry tried to warn you all on that island in the interview to stay off his wife back, he tried again in the me you can’t see special. He tried on James cordon. And last with Dax Shepard. Not exactly in that order.anyway my point is,they got 4 warnings and still the harassment and abuse and attacks continue. You all just don’t learn. So here, this is my truths in print. Bye bitches

  33. JD says:

“In the hands of socially unaware Harry, exploring any one of these in more detail could be incendiary.”
Socially unaware?! Isn’t it obvious that it is the RF and its courtiers who are ‘socially unaware’???

If they had nothing to worry about, they would do so much better to bite their stiff upper lips and go back to ‘never complain, never explain’. That would take the heat of the entire thing, and once the bio is out, it will likely be a minor storm in a teacup, not a hurricane.
But then, if they had nothing to worry about, they would be one big happy family and M&H + kids wouldn’t live in California.

    • Eurydice says:

Yes, how is Harry socially unaware? He grew up in the same palace and monarchical structure as William. He knows every gory detail of the class structure within the monarchy and which strings are attached where. They make it sound like he was kept in the Tower and shielded from everything his whole life. If anyone was “socially unaware” it was Meghan, who didn’t fully understand how the RF works.

    • Calibration says:

I wonder if ‘socially unaware’ is code for knowing his place in the pecking order and keeping his mouth shut. As though he’s unaware of the requirements of society (in the Georgette Heyer kind of way).

      • Topaz says:

Calibration agreed, I thought the same ‘socially unaware’ from the perspective of these golden standard idiots can only mean he doesn’t accept the pecking order.

  34. Rapunzel says:

Harry knows where the bodies are buried and they are definitely afraid he’ll draw a map. But they’ll do it themselves, trying to stick it to him.

The lead up to this book will be the epitome of “congratulations, you played yourself ”

And they got a lot of nerve saying that Harry isn’t mature or aware enough…when they’ve all criticized him for having too much therapy in the recent past, and just a day ago said he would engage in ” ‘poor me’ introspection.”

  35. Rapunzel says:

If the truth is a bomb to you, you aren’t living right and need to get your shit together.

  36. Asking for a friend says:

I’m sure someone has already said this – whoever is feeding this dumb fu*kery to the press is an example of what happens when extreme privilege and centuries of inbreeding come together in a small group of petty and jealous people. As Kaiser said yesterday (?) if they could just shut it for one month no one would be thinking about this book. But I guess the press actively seeks out stories from these idiots, so that isn’t likely to happen.

  37. Red Weather Tiger says:

This book hysteria is truly over the top. What total lack of imagination do the royals have if they NEVER DREAMED Harry would write a book? Did they just think he’d sit back and stay quiet, like Duchess Keenbuttons?

What must truly rankle them is just how much they underestimated young Harry. It’s delicious.

    • Saucy&Sassy says:

Red Weather Tiger, well, IMO I think Duchess Keenbuttons was one of the bullies at KP, so she has reason to be quiet.

  38. AnneSurely says:

Worst comms team of all time. Seriously. You want to ensure that every woman who followed gossip during the Diana years buys this book? Intimate that there will be inside gossip on Camilla. The pre-sales of this will skyrocket. Idiots.

  39. Over it says:

Has anyone else noticed that there is no mention of Katie keen in these articles? I keep hearing Camilla, but what about Kate? Surely her name should also come up

    • Becks1 says:

Not if these leaks are coming from KP.

      • Jais says:

So do you think KP leaked to both DW and RK? That would be interesting. Isn’t Kay usually Charles’ go-to? Or I guess the article could be a mix of sources from both houses with the Camilla part being KP. But wouldn’t this just tick off Charles? William does not seem at all concerned about Charles right now or I’m reading this wrong.

      • Ginger says:

Richard Kay is a mouthpiece for KP.
It’s clear Richards article is from Will and Kate. It’s also why Kate hasn’t been mentioned. And we all know she did some stuff.

I don’t think Harry will out Camilla or Kate. He may go hard on the media and the institution.

      • Becks1 says:

So I think William leaks to Kay for some reason willingly, even though its usually not very good him. I get confused – I know one of them (either Kay or Eden) was the one who wrote the article after the Tatler debacle point by point detailing what the tatler article said in a way that implied the Tatler article was just so horrible and mean to poor Kate but…..again specifically repeating every single point in the article. And I think Kay is the one that William ran to with the story that the Cambridges and Cholmondeleys were barely friends, but how dare someone imply that they had a falling out!!!!

Dan Wootton to me is weirdly more sinister. Like I think he’s pro-William only as long as William keeps giving him sources and I think he’s actively holding some things over William’s head. He was the one to first mention Rose Hanbury, and it was after THAT that DW seemed to become the KP mouthpiece.

      • Catherine says:

Richard Kay has been W’s lapdog for a while now. Occasionally he labors for C&C. He always criticizes Harry, which is odd as he claims he was Diana’s great friend, and the fact that she made his career.

      • Jais says:

Huh I don’t know why I thought that Charles’ camp uses Richard Kay. I think you’re right that William went to RK to refute the rose story now that I think about it. Who does Charles go to then? Jobsen?

  40. Likeyoucare says:

If anything bad happen to the monarchy and the only way to save it is puching a scape goat.
Charles will definitely sacrifice camilla instead of himself.
No one is more than important than charles.

  41. Melly says:

I would like it if Harry’s memoir covers his childhood and then ends at when he meets Megan. It would drive the RR crazy and keep the RF on edge worrying about a second book.

  42. RoyalBlue says:

there charles and william go throwing camilla under the bus. the married-ins are always expected to take one for the team. diana, fergie, kate, meghan, sophie, king Edward’s wife, all of Henry the 8th wives…..

  43. Jaded says:

If Harry’s going to dunk on anyone or anything in his memoir, it will not be salacious information on immediate family members. He’ll go after the ROTA, tabloids and the Institution for their perpetuation of disinformation, racism and outright cruelty towards him and Meghan. Oh he’ll speak diplomatically about the sad but inevitable break with his father and brother, that’s enough to cement the fact that they took an active part in driving the Sussexes out of the family and the country.

    • Green Desert says:

I tend to agree with this, Jaded. He may give some general information about his family that is unflattering (stuff we already mostly know) but he will really go after The Firm and the disgusting symbiotic relationship with the press. But I do think he’ll write mostly about himself.

    • Lady Digby says:

Harry has been most hurt by treatment of his wife so if Mail on Sunday don’t win in Court of Appeal, then I expect him to speak painfully about Markles s antics before the wedding and then chumming up with Piss Moron afterwards! Tom Markle Junior is replacing Katie Hopkins on Australian version of Celebrity Big Brother. Maybe bad dad will do US version!

  44. Lizzie says:

This is a memoir not an autobiography. I think Harry will be sharing just what he said he would. There is no reason for the hysterics other than for clickbait.
I’m sure he has a thousand interesting/amusing stories. He wants to correct prior unauthorized biographies and my guess frame his wild years and later growth especially in a way he would like for his children to someday read.

  45. NotSoSimpleTaylor says:

These “royal experts” have no understanding of America, do they? Harry’s charisma did the work. If it were his title, they would have given Wills and Charles a deal years ago.

  46. GrnieWnie says:

They really do confuse private life with public life, don’t they? As in, they imagine these are mutually exclusive terms: one can either live a private life or a public one, but not both. They really have no concept of a public figure also having a right to privacy, do they?

  47. Ania says:

„No, we’re not racist! No, we did not lead Meg to suicide ideation! No, we did not /insert all horrible things they did to Meg/ !”
H: oh, so my book will be about my personal growth and how I met Meg…”
