Who is the guy in the top pic?

I can’t go through 11 minutes+ of analyzing looks with Bella. the book is like over an inch thick and she turns the pages so slowly. lol I just can’t. Watching the first minutes I just wondered how old she was because she looks like she’s 36 but I know she’s muuch younger than that. Probably an old soul. She seems to have a very cute personality.

    • LovesitinNM says:

I respect your reaction but for me it was surprisingly watchable. I wouldn’t have guessed it was 11 minutes long. I appreciate her talking about mental health and being grateful to be happy. I’ve been through that struggle. I especially love when she says Happy Bella and like kisses her or says we love her, something like that. Self love. She also seems very in love with her career as a model which is #Goals right?

    • Jules says:

I barely lasted a minute. Vacuous comes to mind. And I don’t understand this trend for women in their 20s to plastic surgery themselves into 40-something year olds.

I’m so dismayed by the Afghanistan mess. It was a bad decision by Biden, a weird misstep by such a shrewd decision maker.

    • Annaloo. says:

I am dismayed too… I feel like it would have been a disaster with any leader we have,

IT takes me back to when Obama was trying to help Syria.. I knew he wasn’t going to get the help from the US bc we were OVER Iraq and Afghanistan. Beyond that, looking at the perpetual tribalism and inequality in these areas, I have never felt more hopeless for the Middle East and the provinces near them than I do today. After 20 years, Afghanistan should not have fallen so quickly.

I’m not a foreign affairs expert, but Hong Kong, Venuzuela, Afghanistan…too many countries are ceding and losing their democracies or chances at democracy in recent years. It’s scary. It makes Jan 6 and how enemies have interfered with our process even more scary.

Democracy is incredibly fragile and the most precious thing we have, even if it is not perfect. I hope they are able to get everyone out in safety. I don’t know what our future brings now.

      • Desdemona says:

It was Trump who signed an agreement of sorts with the Taliban on February 2020 in Dohathat the US would leave the country … Biden just followed what was already a commitment between both countries…. He , Trump, also released 5 thousand Taliban prisoners at least..

      • JanetDR says:

@Desdemona right?! Funny how everyone seems to have forgotten that. We should have left when the rest of of the NATO coalition did, or better yet, never gone in.
I do think they could have been more quietly sneaking people out though.

      • Linda says:

Not to mention that Trump arranged a ‘prisoner swap’ with the Taliban that freed 5,000 prisoners, one of whom led the Taliban to victory. I’m not saying Biden is without blame. I cannot believe we’re leaving the people who helped us behind and that’s on Biden. But never forget who legitimized the Taliban by talking one on one with the leader and freaking inviting them to Camp David on September 11th, and signing the deal to leave the country by May 2021 – that was Trump.

      • Eurydice says:

@Desdemona – Biden overturned most of the things Trump did, he could have gone back on the agreement with the Taliban, too – especially considering the Taliban had already violated the agreement. Not really criticizing because I’ve thought the US should never have gone in at all and I agree that there could never have been an easy way out – just saying that this is pretty much the one thing that can’t be laid at Trump’s door.

    • ME says:

It’s extremely sad. I understand what Biden was thinking. They spent 20 years and billions of dollars training the Afghan army. There are about 300 000 soldiers in their army. The Taliban has around 75 000 members. They thought the Afghan army would be able to handle things. Unfortunately, the Taliban is a powerhouse. I can’t see this ending well…looks like a war is about to begin. I don’t know how as humans we can handle all this. A pandemic, climate emergency, brink of another war. It’s too much. Too much suffering. No end in sight to any of it either.

      • Anne Call says:

It’s very similar to our decades in Vietnam. Billions spent, thousands Americans dead or injured and a situation that is basically exactly the same as when we invaded the country.

    • Natters says:

It’s a lose/lose situation no matter how you call it. I feel so sorry for the women of that country who had a taste of education and now are back in the dangerous dark ages.

      • schmootc says:

As many above have said, there was no way to come out of this ahead. And yeah, I don’t think we should have gone in to begin with. Thanks W. And Cheney, can’t forget that jackass. But we certainly should not have left people hanging. Anyone who assisted us in any way is going to be murdered. And I don’t care how long they helped for – I read the minimum was two years, but it should have been much shorter.

@Natters – I did read some commentary about how it may be hard for the Taliban to shove women down to where they were before. I have no doubt that they will try, but I hope they don’t succeed.

    • The Recluse says:

Washington Post has had a series of articles about Afghanistan, including the great odds our military/government faced in creating a cohesive army for the people.
It was and remains a no win scenario.
I feel sick about what the people face.
We have places in this country that need more population and need employees. These refugees would be perfect as new citizens.

  4. Robyn says:

All things considered, I’m just glad I don’t have to hear about yet another celebrity not washing enough today.

  5. Suri says:

Why would anyone buy a piece of mouldy cake?

  6. The Recluse says:

Free Guy was fun and it has one amazing, fabulous cameo that I won’t spoil. It got a reaction from those few people in our matinee showing. (We always go to the first matinee: less people)
But if you watch the credits there are a few more cameos, aside from another unexpected appearance toward the end, but those other cameos are voices, so watch the cast credits.

    • K says:

I loved his little cameo moment! “Free Guy” was actually a lot more fun than I expected.

    • LightPurple says:

I had so much fun watching Free Guy, which was filmed near my office. Boston looks great.

  7. slope game says:

Overall, I’m just pleased I don’t have to hear about another another celebrity not washing enough today.
