Megan Fox wore clip-in bangs & an ’80s-style Dundas gown to the Met Gala

Met Gala in New York - Arrivals

Hello bangs trauma my old friend. Megan Fox is like a whole new woman since she started up with Machine Gun Kelly. She’s attending events, she’s getting pap’d, she’s leaning into fashion and on and on. Megan has never really been a Fashion Girl. Sure, she wore some important designers, but she’s rarely gone to fashion events like the Met Gala. This was her first time at the gala and she decided to wear clip-in bangs (trauma) and this red Dundas gown. To me, this is Meghan embracing her own energy as an ‘80s-era music video vixen. I could see her dancing in a White Snake video.

Ciara wore Dundas as well – it was designed to give a “football” vibe, and she wore her husband’s Super Bowl ring too. Oh, and “3” is Russell Wilson’s jersey number. Nice. I actually like this acid-green color on Ciara specifically.

Leylah Fernandez is the Canadian tennis player who made it to the final of the US Open women’s singles championship. She and Emma Raducanu got last-minute invites and Leylah ended up wearing this simple little Carolina Herrera party dress.

Gillian Anderson wore Gabriela Hearst. This gets my award for one the saddest and most boring dresses ever. It shouldn’t be this hard to find something that looks good on Gillian! She’s a lovely woman! Why this??

From what I can see of Meghan’s look here I like it. She is recapturing the missed opportunities of her youth. Which would not have been the 80s but that’s definitely the go to decade for authentic rocker chick so have at it.

  2. Scrambled Eggs says:

Anyone else get Blade Runner/Sean Young vibes from Megan Fox’s outfit? Also, she must have laughed herself silly in private afterward to see all the “practically nude” dresses on the red carpet because she did it the day before at the VMAs and made all of these other versions seem boring by Monday.

  3. August Rain says:

Megan Fox seems to be channeling Bettie Page and she has the body, the face and the hair for it. I think she has been rocking this look for a while, the sort of dominatrix-but-funny allure of the pin-up girl. The dress gives her a beautiful hourglass figure but from up close seems a bit heavy, almost clunky in the detail.

  4. Drea says:

I love the “football” vibe comment. It looks exactly like a jersey, there’s no “vibe” about it.

  5. Athena says:

Football is American, so Ciara was on point.

Not covered here but was Natalia Bryant’s dress a take on the disco ball? I thought it was young and fun.

  6. Coffeeisgood says:

Megan Fox had definitely elevated her style and her makeup game. She’s having a great comeback.

    I think Meghan looked great.

i’m sorry kaiser, as a permanently-bangs wielding lurker of your site for a long time, i can’t help but get some kind of weird schadenfreude every time you get triggered by bangs lol. forgive me…

oh and this is just my personal preference, but i actually don’t like rockabilly style bangs, even if i am a bangs wearing bangs advocate. they can look beautiful on beautiful people but…idk just not my taste!

Bangs look great on some women, so you are probably rocking that look.

I suffered jagged bangs trauma all through my youth, because my mom cut them and I look horrid in bangs anyway. No boy ever looked at me until I left home & grew them out. So i feel Kaiser’s pain. Hair stylists seem to love inflicting bangs on women, maybe because they require frequent trimming. If I don’t say something, I’ll look up and, crap, bangs I have to grow out again.

I have bangs, too. I love them and I look better with bangs than without. I do think there are a lot of bad bangs out there, but there are also a ton of sad haircuts, and lots of haircuts that could benefit from a bang. I don’t get the bang hate. Isn’t it fair to say that they look great on some people and with some cuts ad not to great with others?

In this particular case, I think the clipon bangs make this outfit look badass.

  11. NotSoSocialButterfly says:

The cutouts in Gillian’s dress completely ruin a simple and classic halter dress.

    • L84Tea says:

Those cut outs are awful and look so unflattering. Cut outs have to be done very well to look good, and this looks like she just hacked at it with scissors on the way there.

      • BothSidesNow says:

I know @ Emma! I adore Gillian Anderson and I am surprised that she just dialed in her attendance this year. She would fabulous in jewel tones as the dark tones wash her out, plus it’s not fitted at all for her.

I love Ciara’s look!! Love the color, the reference and the dress/mask combo!! She nailed it!!

Meghan Fox has a dominatrix vibe going on, to me. And I certainly agree on the Blade Runner reference. And yes, the dress looks much too heavy for her frame.

  12. tanesha86 says:

Leyla’s dress is meant to pay homage to Carolina Herrera dresses originally worn by Venus and Serena back in the late 90s

  13. Digital Unicorn says:

Am loving Meghan’s fashion of late – she’s clearly living her best life since dumping that controlling douche BAG. I think she’s living a youth that she feels she may have missed out one.

She happy and it shows, plus she also seems to be working more.

    • LaurenMichelle says:

Megan looks stunning. I truly feel that she lost 10 years of her life/career while she was with BAG. 3 gorgeous children, but she seemed sad for years. Megan’s confidence is back, and her career is too.

  14. Bella says:

Megan and Ciara look amazing! Definitely some of my favorite looks!
