The Mail thinks Duchess Meghan is about to do a beauty line & infomercials

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry make a visit to the One World Trade Center

We know that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex traveled by private plane to and from New York. We also know that the British media is obsessed with how they travel yet the same media outlets are curiously silent when, say, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are constantly traveling by private plane or royal helicopter. The Sussexes are paying for their own stuff, and they also have generous friends who help them out sometimes. Well, the Daily Mail did an investigation into the plane Harry, Meghan and their staff used for their New York trip. The Mail learned who owned the plane, so now the DM has a story about what Meghan and Harry could be doing for or with the owner.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle flew back from their trip to New York on a private jet provided by the company that made Cindy Crawford the richest supermodel in the world. Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, Kelly Clarkson and Heidi Klum have all had beauty product lines with direct marketing company Guthy-Renker earning them millions of dollars. The infomercial specialists made the career of self-help guru Tony Robbins and launched cosmetics with talk show host Leeza Gibbons, Dallas actress Victoria Principle, and celebrity stylist Chaz Dean.

Does that mean Meghan is being courted to do an infomercial? Time will tell, but Guthy-Renker has had it’s share of controversies. It has been fined over illegal business practices in California, placed under federal investigation and sued for $26million by thousands of women who claim its shampoo made their hair fall out, and had commercials banned in the UK for ‘misleading’ consumers.

DailyMail.com published exclusive photos of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex disembarking from Guthy-Renker’s Dassault Falcon jet in their hometown of Santa Barbara on Saturday after a three-day VIP tour of New York City – sparking speculation that Meghan could be planning her own product lines with the controversial company.

[From The Daily Mail]

While I have no idea how elite people operate, it seems to me like a lot of companies and rich people own private planes and then rent out those planes for a fee. Very few companies are operating their planes 24-7 for their own corporate interests, and why let your plane sit empty in a hangar when you can rent it out and make some money off of it? That’s what I think this is. But sure, let’s talk about whether Meghan should do a makeup line! I think she should, even though the cosmetic industry is oversaturated right now with celebrity lines. If Meghan wanted to start her own skincare or cosmetic line, I would love that. Now, if we’re really talking about this possibility, I think she should probably sign up to be a brand ambassador of an established line. Like, Estee Lauder or CoverGirl.

LOL!!! Building her clout and reputation meeting with world leaders has all been leading to a beauty line. How’d I miss that on my bingo card?!

    • superashes says:

It is so ridiculous. I think they have pretty clearly stated where their interests lie, and for whatever reason the Daily Fail thinks if they wish hard enough, and write enough nonsense, that it will somehow magically minimize them. Too bad they can’t put all this investigative journalism to work on Prince Andrew. Oh wait, they totally can, they just choose not to.

    • Anners says:

Hahahaha! Right?! She wants to make the world better, especially for women, but that was all just a part of her evil scheme to sell us beauty products.

That said – her skin is perfect and always that right amount of dewy/glowy, so if she did come up with a skincare line (or even just a video of her regimen) she could take all my money.

      • Lindsay says:

Yep. I think a skin care line could do really well, and there’s a 70% chance Kate would secretly use it. But only after some peasant put the products into different packaging, because we all know William’s skin care regime is being incandescent with rage.

      • Jan90067 says:

I would love a step by step tutorial on what she uses, and how/when she uses it for skin care *and* makeup. She always looks “face-flawless”

However, that is not on Meg’s Bingo Card for what she wants to accomplish. At least not for the foreseeable future.

That said, yeah… I *could* see it down the line, if she sets up something like Paul Newman did with “Newman’s Own” food products, with proceeds going to his charity. THIS is something Meghan might do.

  2. Pao says:

Just grasping for straws at this point

    • BayTampaBay says:

The Daily Fail is just picking-up comments posted by the regular haters of their commentariat and making a story out of it. The infomercial “stuff” has been floating around the Daily Fail commentariat since the day officially Meghan came on the scene.

      • Debbie says:

Yeah, as I recall that’s what they were saying about Meghan shortly after their hyperventilation at Sussexit from that salty, dreary isle. Also, that bit about her mode of travel was “sparking speculation” about Meghan starting a product line — when the “speculation” is ALL theirs. No one else’s. Such asses.

    • SaraTor says:

There’s no way in hell that Meghan will do a beauty line on her own! That’s not at all the direction we are getting from her activities. She will invest in a woman-owned business that needs capital to scale up, like the oat milk latte company. But her vibe is not to be the face of a company at all.

  3. mimi says:

Because it is Kaiser’s job. The whole purpose of this site is the writers discuss celebrity news and politics by reading/sharing stories from tabloids/newspapers/social media and then we add our two cents in the comments.

    • Isabella says:

Exactly, Mimi. I don’t read any of the stories, even the excerpts. I only read what Kaiser says.

  4. BlueSky says:

In other words, we are mad we don’t have access and don’t know what is going on so we are just going to pull stuff out of our a$$.

  5. Becks1 says:

LOLOLOLOL. They are so mad. So desperate. So unhinged.

  6. Amy Bee says:

@Simone: IMO, Kaiser’s doing the exact opposite. We’re not clicking on those articles.

    • Alexandria says:

I have the same opinion. She clicks there and we don’t have to go there. We come here and give ad revenue to Celebitchy and call them out here cos lord knows you’d waste time arguing on their sites. I don’t even read the DM or Sun snippets. I go thru Kaiser’s writing or summary and go to comments. They are writing rubbish anyway.

    • Same says:

@ Simone – We usually click , the DM have all the pics, same with the Sun —- this site wouldn’t exist without the DM. But we can pretend we don’t go scroll the pics and read the comments …

    • Philly says:

Yep I almost always click – can’t help myself, I want to see the photos (but I don’t bother with the comments).

    • Truthiness says:

I am a day late reading this article. In almost all cases I read the content here denying the Mail the clicks. I scan their headlines and get off the website. ESPECIALLY if it is anything about Madame Duchess or Harry, I will just get triggered.

  7. Seraphina says:

First off, MY LORD how in the world does Meghan wear those heels. I am amazed and jealous.
And Meghan would not cheapen their brand by making infomercials or a beauty line – so she can be along the same aisle and a Kardashian. NOOOOOO. Meghan plays chess for the win.

    • swirlmamad says:

Right?!?? I was in a wedding last weekend and wore heels (lower than those) for about 15 hours straight. My feet/calves hurt SO bad the next morning, and even weirder, 2 of my toes were numb for days afterward — I seriously think I injured a nerve in my foot or something. I have no idea how on earth she wears those stilettos — I’d probably have to be an amputee if I attempted to wear heels that high!

  8. Amy Bee says:

The British press have no idea how the real world works and live in a right wing, royalist bubble. This piece is embarrassing.

  9. Harla says:

If Madame Duchess created a skincare line I would buy every bit of it!!! Have they seen her skin?! Goals!!

    • MF1 says:

Me too. I would LOVE it if she launched a makeup or skincare line. You know it’d be A++, but you also know it’s *never* gonna happen. She’s got bigger things to accomplish.

    • Marivic says:

Kate should buy Meghan’s skin line if she so decides to have one. Kate’s skin is rough and aged. She should get Meghan’s skin beauty secrets to improve her archaic skin.

  10. EllenOlenska says:

I have no doubt she intends to do neither of these things…but I certainly hope they included Princess Anne’s son’s milk ads and all the other lovely entrepreneurial things members of the royal family seem to do as they pointed out how appropriate or inappropriate it would be for her todo these things.

    • lanne says:

Their racist cracka Meathead Tindall has a CBD line. No comment there DM???

      • Jan90067 says:

TQ has her gin line (although they “say” it goes to operating costs of BP (wonder if that is deducted from the SG?), and she and Anne breed/sell race horses *personally*. Charles has his “Duchy” crap..AND sells honors/citizenship it seems. They ALL are a “for profit” bunch of grifters.

  11. STRIPE says:

Kaiser is correct, there are even several companies that help people/companies who own private planes rent them out when the owner is not using them. I’m sure that’s what’s happening here.

    • booboocita says:

Came here to say that. I have a friend who works as a “gig” flight attendant, working on an hourly basis for a company that arranges private flights on private aircraft. He says the pay is astronomical, compared to what he made flying for Delta. He has favorite planes and favorite pilots, but he has to fly wherever and whenever he’s assigned, so he doesn’t always get his favorites. I’m sure H & M flew by private charter, and the ownership of the plane was anyone’s guess.

    • VoominVava says:

I think so too. Or one of their many friends / associates / netflix has connections to the company and used their plane.
The part that stood out to me was that they just HAD to mention the fact that Guthy Renker had some lawsuits in the past as if that reflects at all on the people who fly on their plane. Grasping much? It’s so blatantly obvious .

      • Debbie says:

Well, they mentioned Guthy Renker’s past lawsuits and associated that to those who fly on their plane the same way they associate the queen to Andrew’s sex lawsuit and the abuse allegations against him, because she was hiding him from the constables. You see how fair they are? Me neither.

  12. Noki says:

She is also going to sign on to RHOH , become an ambasador for SKIMS, do a cooking segment with Paris Hilton and the big finale be revealed as The Masked Singer.

  13. FancyPants says:

So what if she does? She’s free to make her own money now. That company sounds kinda sketchy but I have no doubt if she did choose this path it would be through reputable means. She’s her own boss now.

  14. mariahlee says:

I would love to see Meghan do a beauty endorsement! That doesn’t seem to be her priority rn tho. And I can respect that.

The British media desperately want her to be this thirsty, opportunistic money grabber, taking every deal offered to her, and she’s just not. She’s highly selective and principled, and they despise her even more for it.

    • lanne says:

They would hate her for being a fame-chaser, but they hate her even more because she’s not a fame-chaser that they can easily look down on. Besides, they already have a fame-chaser adjacent to the family. Fergie!!!

      • Debbie says:

Actually, Fergie seems to be in similar company since many of these “royals” have merchandise deals, including Chuck and Petty Betty.

  15. OriginalLala says:

100% no way Meghan is going to be shilling any guthy renker products in their cheesy, tacky infomercials…what are the “writers” at the DM smoking ?

  16. BayTampaBay says:

“While I have no idea how elite people operate, it seems to me like a lot of companies and rich people own private planes and then rent out those planes for a fee.”

This statement is true and correct. I know as my husband is a pilot. It cost almost the same to keep a plane in a hangar unused as it does to have it in continuous operation. The only difference is the price of the gas. The plane must be flown so many hours each month to meet FAA safety standards so a plane this large already has a salaried credentialed pilot in place.

Lots of companies do exactly what Kaiser has suggested in her comment.

    • MipMip says:

More reporting is done in the Celebitchy comments section in one day than the British media does in a year.

  17. Lizzie says:

I don’t think it’s cheap at all to have a beauty brand or be brand ambassador. It’s a business and because it’s a business mostly for women people take pot shots at it. Meghan would kill at it, she has a naturally beautiful complexion and seems to be more stunning every year. OMG, can you imagine the jealousy and rage in the palace if beautiful close-ups of Meghan were in every magazine?
All that said I think they just rented the plane.

  18. Roo says:

If Meghan were ever to be connected to any beauty line, you can bet your ass it would be connected to fundraising – likely for hygiene and beauty products for refugees, women in shelters or women in areas hit by natural or man-made disasters. That would be a beautiful and wonderful thing and I think so many of us would purchase items just to donate to a good cause.

Otherwise, it is amusing to see how much she scares the BM.

    • Charm says:

Now that youve said this, and given her long association with P&G and now their recently-signed multi-year partnership with Archewell, I do agree with you that something like this could be in the works.
M had also wanted to do something with food before she met H and had to nip all that exploration in the bud after she and H became a unit. As everyone knows, she’s a foodie and i vaguely recall a UN spokesperson on twitter welcoming their Archewell to a new partnership…..something to do with food…..dont rmbr the details.

So that NY trip achieved so many goals we hvnt even heard the half of it. Like most other #Squaddies, I’m just waiting for their new-look website to be unveiled.

    • Amy Too says:

I think a capsule makeup collection for something like SmartWorks would be so cool, too! Meghan’s favorite products, or from her favorite lines, or even things she helps to develop, with the buy one, give one scheme. Clothes are an important part of work and interviews for women, but honestly, so is makeup, whether or not that’s fair. And makeup can be both expensive and tricky to know what/how to use. A line of staples that most women would be able to use, that is focused more on looking professional/boosting confidence rather than being full glam like a BB cream or tinted moisturizer, a subtle blush/bronzer duo, an eyebrow product like one of those brush through tinted gels, a mascara, and a couple of lipstick/lip tint choices would be a great basic, confidence boosting makeup line that is more about making women of any age look and feel their best in a professional setting than it is about just using Meghan’s face to sell something like Kylie lip kits.

  19. Jais says:

There was an article a while back that said Meghan’s looks and make-up is one of the most googled. She seems close with her make-up artist, Daniel Martin(I think that’s his name) so maybe she would support something he does or a brand that she feels strongly about, like clevrblends.

    • swirlmamad says:

Maybe a brand like Thrive that stands for certain causes and supports women, but I can’t see her shilling for any of the mainstream brands in commercials, either. Then again, look at Rihanna and her massive success with Fenty Beauty — if Meghan launched her own beauty brand I think she could hit it out of the park too.

      • Jan90067 says:

I LOVE the messaging behind Thrive, but I have to say, don’t like their products. I bought a bunch of stuff to support the cause(s), but I was *so* disappointed in their skin care/makeup.

  20. Eurydice says:

Guthy-Renker rents its plane to a charter service. The DM says they called the charter service and were told there were no rental records for last weekend. That’s all the information they have.

    • Becks1 says:

OMG. They’re so obsessed. They stalked the airport to get pics of them arriving, now they are CALLING THE CHARTER SERVICE to see who rented the plane?!!?!?!?

It’s…..pathetic, but also a little scary.

      • MerryGirl says:

They’ve moved from desperation to downright stalking…Harry & Meghan need to report the UK tabloids to the FBI.

      • Debbie says:

Normally, I’d think that “obsessed” was a strong word but when you consider the fact that Charles’s pay-to-play scandal and Andrew’s diddling of teens stories are just sitting right there, in the BM’s own country, the fact that they cross the Atlantic to spy on Meghan and Harry, well, obsessed is the only word that fits – that or “fixated.”

    • Jaded says:

I understand that who they rent to must be kept completely confidential so I’m not surprised they said they had no rental records for that weekend rather than “no we didn’t rent our jet to the Sussexes”.

      • Eurydice says:

The charter company has a large fleet. I’m sure they rent some, if not all, from owners like Guthy-Renker. Harry and Meghan might have just as easily chartered a plane owned by some other corporation.

    • Isabella says:

The tabloids want them to fly commercial so they can get their stalkers on the planes & have them hang out inside.

  21. Scorpion says:

Lmaoooooo at the desperation from the Fail…
    😂😅🤣

  22. NCWoman says:

Just the fact that people are tracking down who owns the plane Harry and Meghan flew on is disturbing. They are private citizens, not working royals. So it’s beyond stalkery.

  23. aquarius64 says:

Someone at the Fail realized the glow up they gave Kate at the Bond premiere just confirms she’s a shallow fashion plate. This knockdown of Meghan was felt as necessary to “honor” the contract.

  24. Izzy says:

Because it is appropriate to give credit to the source for the material and in the internet age, this includes a link to the source. The APA, MLA, and Chicago Style Manuals are all in agreement on this.

  25. Izzy says:

A simple Google search (like the one I did) would have told them that many companies rent out their private jets. It helps pay for the cost of owning, insuring, and maintaining them.

  26. swirlmamad says:

On the contrary, I like that I can be kept abreast of what these psychos across the pond are saying and I don’t have to give them any traffic or clicks. Kaiser is taking the hit for all of us.

  27. Lilpeppa40 says:

The energy they pour into this couple amazes and frankly, frightens me. They’re minding their own business and these people are literally tracking down the owners of the plane they flew on.

    • lanne says:

I think they need to stay out of the UK completely. Barring that, they should sneak in and sneak out, and don’t let anyone know there were there until they are safely home again. They could troll the British media forever that way. Send them on wild goose chases with fake appearances. Test the royals by giving them fake stories and learning who the snitches are by what gets revealed to the ratchets. Tell the ratchets they have an event in the Orkneys so they all rush up there while Meghan and Harry stroll through London unstalked. Or let the ratchets “discover” that Harry and Meghan’s next major interview, conducted by Michelle Obama, will take place in the Falkland Islands, or in the north of Greenland and watch the ratchets all hurry there. Harry and Meghan send a one-word video message: “Psyche!”

      • Jan90067 says:

I think by ignoring them completely it will hurt them/make them *more* insane than any kind of “goose chase”.

Think about it: when you don’t give a toddler’s tantrum attention, it stops after a while. Now, while I don’t think the Rats/BM will every leave H&M alone, I *do* think the attention will wane for a bit. Then when Tampon takes over it will ratchet up again, same as when TOBB takes over. It will go into high gear for a few years, and settle until the Cam Kids grow up, the comparisons will shift to the kids.

  28. Over it says:

I hurt for the British media and their lack of access to Harry and Meghan. Ahh well. Should have treated them better you racist gutter rags

  29. Marivic says:

No worries. I don’t click Daily Fail. I am not giving it any credence.

  30. Rapunzel says:

Meg should do a beauty line, just to see how Katie Keen would copy that.

  31. L4Frimaire says:

That’s quite a reach for the tabloids and hoping to elicit a response from team Sussex. They are obsessed with this couple. They’re so obsessed and incensed about this NY trip they they’ve stopped talking about the Oprah interview for a quick second. They won’t dare delve into the the funded royals or but will look into every minutiae of this couple, especially their travel. Someone mentioned that private jets only became an issue and obsession once Meghan took one to NY with Amal Clooney. Same reason they price out everything Meghan wears every time she wears it. They were looking up where the oats in the latte company Meghan invested in came from. Oats, y’all

  32. BC says:

Am I the only one who doesn’t think this is such a bad idea. I’m not totally enthralled with Gunthy-Renker, but frankly who cares there are worse distributors. The reality is they have to make money somewhere, and the entertainment or media deals really depend on content. Sure it could be good, but maybe not. It honestly depends a lot on the people they hire and some luck. This seems like a legitimate way to make a living too. I do find the condescending coverage of the British tabloid to be crazy on this. Lots of famous people do something like this, and I’ve had my quibbles with some of Meghan’s fashion, although less than most of the royals, but her makeup and lately hair has been flawless. Why not? Granted sure the Kardashians and likes have all done this, but those seem to be the least sleazy of any of the Kardashian adventures.

  33. canichangemyname? says:

A beauty line would be great, she’s lovely! I’d probably buy. Informercials though … I mean … rly? Please, Meghan, don’t!

  34. AmelieOriginal says:

Meghan left the lifestyle hustle behind when she closed The Tig. I could see her investing in a makeup line/skin care line like she did with the coffee company Clevr Blends. But she’s all about compassion in action and investing in charity work, being a thought leader, that kind of thing. Going into the makeup/skin care world doesn’t seem to jive with that.

    • Jaded says:

Agree. The only way she’d align herself with a skin care company would be around providing products and make-up experts to women who can’t afford it as they job hunt and enter the work force, sort of like Smart Works.

      • Rapunzel says:

Right or helping black owned beauty businesses trying to make skin care/makeup tailored to diverse faces.

  35. Margaret says:

But what about running for president?. I wish they would make up their little minds.

    • Charm says:

LOL If M ever resumes her work with UN Women for Political Participation & Leadership those neanderthals over on struggle island would lose their collective sh*t and explode all at the same time. LMFAO

  36. Nyro says:

You don’t reintroduce yourself on the world stage at a three day trip to the U.N. if you plan on selling skincare and makeup. These people are so stupid.

  37. Nicole says:

It wouldn’t be the worst idea. Estee Lauder is closing their celeb frgrances division so she could find a spot in that world.

  38. DeeDeeBanana says:

@Kaiser, according to a family member in aviation, Guthy-Renker does own their own private jet under GRP (Guthy-Renker Partners) Aviation LLC. However, their aircraft is a charter managed by Clay Lacy Aviation which manages, charters and maintains aircrafts for various individuals and businesses. Basically there is no way to tell if Guthy-Renker was aware or involved in Harry and Meghan flying their plane. If they were involved, you still could not deduct that there is a business deal on the table. Private Jets are bought bcz ppl with busy schedules have travel needs that cannot be met by airlines but Jets are expensive to maintain and will be loaned out when not in use to offset costs. Tabloids are just guessing.

  39. Monica says:

In the absence of actual news about M&H, they’re just making sh*t up. Meghan is also planning to get Gavin Newsom to give her Diane Feinstein’s Senate seat.

    • Charm says:

And dont forget that she’s also planning to run for president. [insert rolled eyes here.]
But this is just an example of the fear and awe in which she is secretly viewed by those mediocres over on struggle island.

      • Agreatreckoning says:

Meghan is going to be really tired. Between the Senate seat, running for President, setting up a whole royal woke court, product lines, infomercials….

Kind of like them admitting that Meghan can do it all in a way. While Kate wore a sparkly dress to really show her.LOL

  40. LRob says:

She can take my money for beauty products, fashion, home design, cookbooks, publications, yoga practice, puppy whispering, chicken chasing, gardening, hiking, traveling or any other darn think she wants. She and Harry already get my money for every charity endeavor they undertake. Never had so much fun spending my money supporting inspiring people. Go go go.

  41. So what if she was? She bounced! And if she is good on her, and the daily mail just provided free ads.

  42. Isa says:

I’ve seen so many articles talking about what she uses with links that probably give a kickback, not to her, but whoever wrote the article. It would be smart to do it, maybe not the company mentioned in the article, but somehow, because we all know some charity will benefit in some way. I haven’t bought anything yet, but I definitely would if it would make me look as good as her and benefit a charity.

  43. Well Wisher says:

Meghan flew via private jet, owned by a Canadian , to Jamaica to attend a wedding with Prince Harry whilst they were dating. As far as what is known, there was no quid pro quo.
This assertion reveals the mindset of the fail’s zero-sum total approach, instead the above mentioned company can simply write the trip off as a donation.

  44. Dee Kay says:

I predict that in 20 years, when the kids are in college or working and Harry is a U.S. citizen, Meghan will be in the running for a major U.S. Ambassadorship. (Harry will relocate with her, of course, he will be a fantastic Ambasador’s spouse.) That’s the kind of career and level of influence she is on track for (and frankly, was since before she met Harry). British tabloids *still* have no idea what kind of person they are talking about.

  45. Melly says:

I like the idea of Meghan linking up with a large retailer or fashion house to do a beauty and make up line. A percentage to go to causes that Meghan chanpions, posters up thread have given some great ideas like Smartworks. And Meghan would also get paid big time! She should not be expected to live off her savings and she is not Mother Teresa and go around in sack cloth and ashes. She is a working woman and also a beauty and a humanitarian and philanthropist. She is a multifaceted woman.

  46. Melly says:

  47. Laura says:

No way should she get involved in the beauty industry. It would add so much fuel to the fire with the british media. They’d use it to degrade her as shallow/looks obsessed and a sell-out. They’d compare her to Kylie Jenner and say she’s using her title to enrich herself. It would be their “proof” that this whole stepping down from her role as a working royal was calculated (even though thats ridiculous). It’s a narrative they’ve been desperately trying to push (that she manipulated Harry so she could live a lavish, famous life in L.A.). While it’s ridiculous and anybody with any knowledge of her already knows that’s completely false, this would embolden those claims. And while it may seem pointless since they already bash her for those things, I think it could give her a “commercial image,” when she’s working so hard in the humanitarian/development sector. I think it’s best she stay away from that. I get that many are like screw it, she’ll never win with the media/British media so she might as well do whatever she wants, but I do think she needs to be smart about her brand and image. I can see the awful headlines comparing and contrasting Kate’s “humble public service” to Meghan’s “shilling expensive face cream.” Ugh.

  48. Marivic says:

William and Kate are lazy two-faced scammers who scam off the British public by living on welfare from taxpayers funds. Meghan and Harry are industrious and self-employed global humanitarian who don’t get a single pence from the British public taxpayers money. But the Brits prefer the parasitical sloth and the indolent. What ?

  49. Cheryl Smith says:

The Brits love the purity of royal whiteness. No work ethic required. Meghan on the scene gave them a punching bag to distract from the laziness of burger king and his side of fries. One need only read the stories before Meghan and see how magically the narrative changed. The press had no problem writing stories about hardworking Harry and Meghan and denigrating them. Meanwhile the Dolittles were just picture perfect. In reality we all know who was the money shot and still is today. Billy and Kate are just going to continue like hamsters on a never-ending reel of look at me not them. Magical thinking for royals.
