Sleeping baby animals: the cutest ad ever?

Oh. My. God. Piglets in pajamas. With twitchy curly tails while they dream little piglet dreams. And kittens in pajamas! Asleep! On their backs! With their paws in the air! I don’t know how anyone can ever be depressed with such wonderful things in the world. The only thing cuter than baby humans are baby animals. Because they’re furrier. And the only way to up their cute appeal is to hoist a pair of PJs on them, pop a Benadryl under their tongues, and grab a camera. I have never been so grateful to live in New York as I was when I first saw this commercial.

In this fast-paced world, it takes a lot to get my attention. So here’s a memo to all ad-driven companies out there: Do you know what will always, and I mean always, grab my eye? Kittens. And not just kittens, but kittens…in pajamas…who are dreaming. So thank you, Sweet Millions, for releasing what has to be the cutest television spot of all time. Now, an admission: I have no idea what the commercial is trying to get across. Nor do I really know what Sweet Millions is, because as soon as I start watching this 30-second spot, I transform into a 6-year-old pigtailed little girl who’s squealing like she was just gifted a mini-pony. (Kidding. I know Sweet Millions is a lottery game, and this might be encouraging young kids to gamble, but I just feel more encouraged to buy 15 cats and dress them up!)

[From Entertainment Weekly’s PopWatch]

I made so many embarrassing noises while watching this. I think this should be everyone’s go-to video for when they’re having a bad day. Or just a blah day. Sleepy poufy-tailed kittens in blue pajamas could lead to world peace. I once read that no one can ever be anxious when they look at a sleeping kitten. And yesterday I happened to stumble upon the website Dreaming of Kittens. All kittens. All sleeping. All the time.

But in case bunnies and carnivals are more your speed, the New York lottery has you covered. Bunnies in teacups, their big ‘ol fuzzy feet in the air. Bunnies riding the Tunnel of Love! Bunnies delicately licking an ice cream cone! And best of all, bunnies playing bumper cars! Now to be fair, these rabbits all look a little confused. It very much reinforces the Disapproving Rabbits notion. But they’re good sports, and it’s an excellent way to start your weekend.

I just blew my exclamation point quota for the whole month. Worth it!!!

@ Jaybird – not strange at all! My kitty is almost 4 and I still like to rub & touch his paw pads (okay, maybe not kiss). But when they are kittens they are soooo soft and kissable!! LOL

  15. TaylorB says:

I see kittens, puppies, foals, kids etc. every single day, and every single time my heart skips a beat because they are just so adorable.

Someone once asked me why I went into Vet med vs. being an actual human MD like the rest of my family, and I said, and I know this is horrible but… that I have never met an animal I felt hesitation about helping but there are a few people that might give me a moments pause (ex. Hitler, Ted Bundy, John W. Gacy, and various other scumbags.) GRRRRRaninimals are wonderful, non-judgemental, curious, and while often aloof, still very loving in nature… sadly, the same can not be said for we two legged folks.

I loved seeing these pics, frankly I had a tough day with a little foal with intussusception (basically like gastric torsion) tragically not caught in time. Gotta say I hate days like these…

  16. Renee says:

@TaylorB – I love you for doing what you do for the little ones that can’t help themselves. 🙂

  17. Corina says:

Oh dear god the cuteness overwhelms me! Did anyone ever see the Dana Carvey standup comedy where he talks about his little son? He says when his son was like 3 he came in the kitchen & in an adorable lispy voice said “Daddy, does God have feet?” and then Dana is like “can’t…handle…the cuteness…it’s too much!”.

Exactly how I feel right now 🙂 (sorry that comment was so random btw)

  18. WTF?!? says:

We are of one mind, Jaybird.
Cutest-things-EVER! Even this cold, jaded, New Yorker’s heart melts at baby aminals in human clothes emanating cuteness.

  20. Bellatrix says:

JayBird: will you let me have a playdate with the bumper car bunny in the blue cap? I love him so much…

And the falling bunny is so adorabe too.

Oh, this was just the perfect post before heading to bed tonight. I’m all smiles now.

yaaaaaaaaaaaay, does this mean that women’s bodies will no longer be the only thing used to hawk products? :-/

  22. moo says:

    1-2-3….. AWWWWWWWWW!!!!

  23. JaundiceMachine says:

I thought I was having a heart attack, those animals are so fucking cute!

I want to spank them all! But I guess I’ll just have to settle for spankin’ my 3-year-old “kitten”.

    Fucking adorable!

  24. Persistent Cat says:

I love animals too, especially baby ones (and especially kittens). I hate seeing animals dressed in clothes but whatever.

And yes, I too want to kiss their little paw pads (and their noses).

  25. aury says:

    that was SO CUTE!!! XD

  26. donna dot says:

i want to know how they made them sleep (i’m worried). i don’t like the ending because the puppies are scared.

i don’t like it when animals are dressed up and so on.

and you all have to think about the pigs…they are so cute…but they grow up and the most of you eat meat. think about that. a pig is as clever as a dog. how can someone do that to an animal. makes me sad.

  27. Kathie says:

It is adverts like that one that make me glad I am vegan! My Mama used to say that God made babies of all types especially sweet so we would have no choice but to love them…I agree!

  28. fizXgirl314 says:

those piglets might be cgi… they look a little odd… plus, it’d be hard to get a piglet to cooperate that well, unless you pulled a polanski and slipped it a qualud :/

also, where did people figure pigs are as smart as dogs? I’m not trying to deny it or anything. I just hear the concept thrown out there a lot and not quite sure how it originated…

  29. Cheyenne says:

For all you cat lovers, check this out: Cat goes into the dog bar and wows every canine in the place. It’s too funny for words and the cat is absolutely adorable.

    scary

  31. Dexter says:

Great, animals dressed like they were f*cking dolls. Once again this shows that animals are just toys to “humans”. Disgusting.

  32. donna dot says:

    i agree with dexter

Cool. Something different for a change! Taylor B, I love vets! Just last week my boxer Rosco was falling down and throwing up when I got home from work. He was just fine when I left in the morning. He’s very old for a boxer, going on 14. I thought I was going to have to make a very difficult decision on my best friend’s behalf. I put a hanky in my pocket and gently loaded him into my truck for what I thought would be his last ride with Dad. When I got to the vet he immediately diagnosed an inner ear problem that is somewhat common in dogs, and he sees it not too infrequently. Apparently a lot of dogs are mistakenly put down due to this malady. Now, just a few days later he is back to his old self, wanting to chase Frisbee’s and wrestle with his sister Mitzi, an older red dobie. We are gonna wait on the Frisbee thing for a couple of weeks though. Thank goodness my vet is older, experienced and stays on top of newer technologies and practises. Taylor I don’t envy you when it comes to owners having to say good bye to their beloved furry friends. Sorry Dexter, I totally disagree with you friend.

  34. donna dot says:

@TaylorB: you have all my respect for your job. that’s so great.

@fizXgirl314: i’m glad that you are asking. you can read about the intelligence of pigs on this website:

    http://www.goveg.com/f-hiddenlivespigs.asp
(i hope it’s okay to put a link in my comment)

for those who are interested but don’t want to check the website (quote from http://www.goveg.com):

“Most people know very little about these fascinating animals. In fact, pigs are curious and insightful animals thought to have intelligence beyond that of an average 3-year-old human child. They are smarter than dogs and every bit as friendly, loyal, and affectionate. When in their natural surroundings, not on factory farms, they are social, playful, protective animals who bond with each other,…”

if you don’t agree with the website because it’s for people who live vegan…then search google for (example): pigs+dogs+intelligent

the veg site is not a site by my choice…but my studies about that are in german…so i searched for an alternative website in english (btw sorry for my bad english).

you will find many many websites about that.

i know that pigs are not that cute when they are grown up pigs…but honestly…sometimes it’s the same with humans 🙂

  38. Kevin says:

Too funny FizX!!! I didn’t watch those links because I love eating those links, if you know what I mean.
