Benedict Cumberbatch & Sophie Hunter attended the ‘Spider-Man’ premiere

Sony Pictures Spider-Man: No Way Home Los Angeles Premiere

Here are some photos of Benedict Cumberbatch and his wife Sophie Hunter(batch) at last night’s Los Angeles premiere of Spider-Man: No Way Home. Benedict returns to the Marvel universe as Doctor Strange, and he has a huge role in the whole “multiverse” thing, please don’t try to explain it to me. All I know is that Bendy’s got a stand-alone Doctor Strange sequel coming out next year called Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. That sequel is reportedly going through huge reshoots because – at least partially – there are major script/story issues with “the multiverse” and which stories are told.

Sophie and Benedict will celebrate their SEVENTH wedding anniversary next February, in two months. Crazy how time flies on this one. It feels like it was only yesterday that Sophie was discreetly hiding a bump on the red carpet. Now they’re parents to three boys and Sophie still comes out to Bendy’s premieres! She’s probably going to lots of awards shows next year as well, as it looks like Bendy is a sure thing for Best Actor nominations for The Power of the Dog. Yesterday, he was nominated for a Golden Globe and a Critics Choice Award.

Bendy ran away from security so he could spend some time with all of the fans who came out for the premiere:

They seem really comfy and happy together. Honestly they seemed really well suited from the beginning, I think it was jus tthe Cumberb*tches that were calling for them to fail.
Always good to see a stable famous family.

It was a weird slice of Sherlock fandom who could not wrap their brains around the fact that a) Sherlock and John were not a romantic/sexual couple settling into out and proud domestic bliss at the end of the show and so took pleasure tearing apart anyone and anyone associated with the show (see also the way they tried to tear down Mark Gatiss to whoever was hiring him on his next projects); and/or b) that BC and MF were not in fact a couple or besties IRL, even though they got on fine as colleagues.

Add in the warped mindset that causes some people to have an overly entitled possessive view of their chosen internet BF, to embrace ridiculous conspiracy theories and to enjoy trolling, trash talking and obsessive over fake babies and controlling “narc” women (see also 1D members and many other male stars), and those whose real lives are so empty and sad that they decide to measure their personal worth by playing a key role in spreading, tending, generating nonsense about strangers and take a leadership role in those dark SM corners, and you wind up with a batshit bog of ridiculous.

They seem happy together, but fans of Benedict were concerned as she is known to be a not so nice person with a short fuse. There’s even videos of her huffing and puffing at events, rolling her eyes, storming off, pushing past people, scowling at others, etc. That and her very bare bones resume – bit acting parts and vastly over padded festival organisation claims. Some fans thought that she would ‘use him’. Maybe she has changed with time?

Anyway, I am glad that they have lasted and have their three little ones.

I had never paid attention to Cumberbatch as a actor and omg, I was blown away . Give him all the awards for The Power of the Dog

  3. Jezz says:

He looks really good. What’s different? Is his hair lighter, or is it just the beard. He looks gorg!

  4. Mcmmom says:

They have three sons??? I had no idea. They certainly seem well suited physically – they resemble each other or at least “match” nicely.

  5. Lucia says:

This look is a bit too RDJ-esque of him, but I don’t hate it. I like to think he did it as some sort of joke/trolling 😉

    • North of Boston says:

I thought so too. There have been some people (press?) who claim BC’s character will be filling the Ironman role in the MCU in this next phase… and he’s like “sure, fine, I’ll step into RDJ’s shoes … on the red carpet LOL!”

      • Bendy Windy says:

I’m giddy at the idea of seeing more Doctor Strange. He’s one of my favorite characters in the MCU.

    • Red Dog says:

I third this, that’s some serious Tony Stark cosplay!

  6. Bendy Windy says:

I low key love her dress. It’s not my usual style. I prefer more tailored looks, but she looks really great.

  7. Digital Unicorn says:

I like her, esp her style and they seem like one of those rare stable celeb relationships.

  8. Kt says:

You might want to add a Spoiler Alert. The reshoot link you tagged has big time spoilers in it

  9. Harla says:

    What a gorgeous couple!

  10. Harla says:

Okay I to rant for a minute….it was not warm and balmy in LA last night so why, why are women in shoulder less dresses and men get to wear suits? It has always bugged me that at premiers and award shows women are wearing slinky dresses that certainly cannot be keeping them warm while the guys are nice and cozy in their tux’s and suits. So unfair!!

  11. K says:

I love him always have always will. She looks fantastic

  12. Lila says:

They’re cute together. They seem happy and stable, which is an awesome thing, particularly in Hollywood.

I understand why the beginning was rough. Her rollout was rushed and felt pretentious. But for what it’s worth, Ben interviews awkwardly too, so maybe that’s just something that have in common. And Amal Clooney was totally a thing right then, so there may have been some PR people trying to spin Sophie as the second coming instead of just letting her be a (normal) accomplished person.

  13. ClaireB says:

He’s a great actor and I wish him the best! I was always weirded out by their relationship because they look so similar and that always freaks me out, celebs or no. They seem both private and stable, so I am happy for them.

  14. TeeMajor says:

I love me some HIM!! however I had no idea he was so short. still love him and his wife looks damn good!

  15. It's me! says:

How the times have changed (and for the good!). I remember when they first got together, people on this website lost their sh*t and horrible things were said about her.
