Michael Jackson’s kids will star in multi-episode A&E reality series

Looks like we may have had good reason to worry about the care and exposure Michael Jackson’s children received after his death. Us Weekly is reporting that Michael’s three kids will appear in the new A&E reality series The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty. From the way Us Weekly talks about it, they make it sound like the series has already been filmed for either a 5-episode or 10-episode release. Considering Michael took extreme pains to limit his kids’ exposure to the media and to the world, the choice to include the kids in the series is causing some controversy, even within the family:

The Jacksons are at odds over the inclusion of Michael Jackson’s three children in an upcoming A&E reality show about the famous family, Us Weekly reports in its latest issue (on newsstands now).

A source tells Us Weekly the buzzed-about program will include Michael’s kids — Prince, 12, Paris, 11, and Blanket, 7 — though not everyone’s happy about it.

Eldest sister Rebbie, 59, who has refused to be in the series (called The Jacksons: A Family Dynasty, tentatively set to air in December), “feels Michael would spin in his grave if he knew his kids would be on this show.”

While Janet, 43, is on board, mom Katherine “is just going along with things,” the source continues.

Still, one of the creators of the program — which will be either five one-hour episodes or 10 half-hour episodes — says the family shines on the series.

“We have 23 cast members with the last name Jackson,” executive producer Jodi Gomes tells Us Weekly. “They’ve done a great job opening up about losing a brother.” (A Jackson family rep couldn’t be reached.)

[From Us Weekly]

What son of a bitch reality A&E programmer thinks this is a brilliant idea? Because they should be fired. And Katherine Jackson shouldn’t have allowed this stuff. I don’t care if it’s handled in a classy, respectful way, they shouldn’t include Michael’s children in this stuff. If Michael’s brothers and sisters, all of the adult members of his family want to do a series, fine. God bless. It’s their choice. But don’t bring the children into it.

of course they will. because that’s just what they need! wow! the parenting skills & family values in Cali continue to shock & amaze me!…i guess that’s why i watch! jeez

  2. CiCi says:

right. cuz this is EXACTLY what michael would have wanted for his children. sigh.

  3. Lantana says:

Oh. My. God. Those kids have been so sheltered their entire lives, and the world they know (knew) has practically disappeared in the past few months, from where they live to how their father is perceived and many other things. Couldn’t they have waited to drag the kids into this? Let them be grieving children that miss their father for a time, not an extension of the Jackson family freak show. Shame on them. All of them.

  4. hatsumomo says:

    (gasp)
You cannot be serious! Who the hell singed off on this? And Janet is on board?! The woman who values her privacy so much no one knew she was married! That Janet? Why why why why? I swore I recalled Kathrine making a big deal that she was capable of taking care of those kids and this IS NOT THE WAY TO DO IT! Dont they have plenty of money? I cant imagine the reason for the show is financial gain. Hopefully this is a moment of jumping the gun before the deal was done and signed. Hoping something happens and the show will never make it to the air.

  5. Firestarter says:

    SHAME ON THESE PEOPLE!

Michael spent his time as a parent shielding those children from such things. Naturally the grandfather has his fingerprints all over this and Katherine Jackson, as usual, is going along with this farce!

Rebbie is the ONLY one with decency and sense in that family!

  6. Nicole says:

    Well said Kaiser!

  7. Green Is Good says:

This is evil. Exploiting the children for money. Grandma Jackson is just as bad as Grandpa Joe. SHE’S their legal guardian.

  8. CandyKay says:

    Calling Debbie Rowe!

  9. barneslr says:

I’m thoroughly disgusted. How dare their grandmother permit this? These kids have been through enough without their own family exploiting them. This is truly horrible.

  10. Stephie says:

Just when you think they can’t sink any lower…they do. Must have been good $$$$ involved. Or just ANY $ would’ve been enough. Just sick.

  11. Firestarter says:

I do think Debbie Rowe needs to chime in on this one.

  12. Concerned says:

Don’t do it. Just please don’t do it.

  13. Victoria says:

Debbie Rowe is not going to say a thing she’s too busy counting her money.

  14. Firestarter says:

Well Debbie may be counting her money, but that doesn’t preclude her from stepping in on this. The money she got was from Jackson, not Jackson’s estate, so that money and pay out isn’t going anywhere.

She was concerned enough back in July to step in and make sure that the old bastard grandfather had very little contact in their day to day life. She is still their mother and I think she will have something to say about this. She didn’t give up her rights to step in.

  15. Icecat says:

I think the whole world is interested in these children, and the only way A&E could get the ratings they need, is if the children are on. Very sad.

Brutal truth: No one is interested in any other member of the Jackson family, with, of course, the exception of Janet.

    And I totally agree..
    Shame on Catherine.

  16. Tia C says:

I really hope they don’t do this. It’s just wrong. Those poor kids have been traumatized enough this year. They need to be left alone, protected and nurtured, not exploited.

  17. mel says:

Is US weekly a credible magazine? I’m not going to be in an uproar until I see the kids on the show otherwise Us wkly is just trying sell magazines.

  18. Firestarter says:

It’s not just US weekly that is reporting this.

  19. Lindsay says:

If it is true it is a bad idea. This is why people didn’t want his father to have custody. Someone in the family should be speaking up for these kids. They lost their father, they don’t need to share their grieving with the world.

  20. Ugh ... please says:

Michael .. spinning in grave …
Joe … finally got his way .. exploit children ..
Janet .. hmmm seems all the females in this family go crazy .. guess she was next.

  21. Anak says:

He tried to keep them far from the circus and they are doing exactly the opposite. Sad.

  22. lucy says:

This is incredibly sad. We did even know what those kids looked like until he died, and now they’re going to be pimped out on a stupid reality show? Right after their whole world got up ended and they lost the only parent they’ve ever known. If episodes have already been filmed, when did they start, at the f’ing funeral??? It’s just cruel.

  23. NIKKI says:

I thought Rebbie had custody? Am i wrong? Why would they do that? Only for profit I can assume. It’s wrong. I mean, obviously he wanted to keep them out of the spotlight, and did a good job of it. Sucks. That’s the problem when parents die before their children, no matter who you entrust with their care, they can turn around and be an absolute wanker. I’m thinking you’re going to have to start including rules on how to grow your children in your wills now (which is sad).

  24. oh my says:

somebody needs to petition the court to get those children an advocate

seriously, I wish they’d change the laws to prevent children from being filmed for “reality shows”

  25. andrea says:

i am so very sad for michael right now.

  26. BitterBetty says:

Kathrine didn’t do a very good job protecting MJ or any of his siblings from being exploited and abused by Joe, so what made him think she would do a better job with his kids? I guess he had no alternative. I’m surprised Janet is on board. I though she was the relatively normal Jackson. this is as wrong as wrong can be.

  27. Ggirl says:

    Appalling but not surprising

  28. princess pea says:

Please don’t watch it. If and when it airs, please don’t. We can write letters to A&E, but beyond that our only way to make the point that this is beyond wrong is Do. Not. Watch.

    Poor kids.

  29. Eileen Yover says:

    I 100% agree Kaiser.

MJ might have been many crazy things, but he totally adored his children and was SO protective of them. How is his mother ok with this???

  30. filthycute says:

This makes me profoundly sad for MJ

  31. Ohlawdy,no says:

Rebbie: I thought that was slang for Debbie Rowe.

I will NOT watch out of respect for Michael Jackson’s life of pain that he tried with everything he had to protect these children – so that they could have the life he never had!

Shame on Michael’s parents and anyone else who allows this cannot pretend to have loved Michael! I spit on them!

  32. hunnybe says:

It is being reported on tmz that Katherine said that the children will not be on any reality show.

  33. Firestarter says:

Well hopefully that is true, but I cannot imagine a network being interested in the other Jackson’s to carry a show. No one cared about them for years, why would anyone care now?

Either way, I hope the show fails!

  34. BitterBetty says:

If Lorenzo Lamas and his litter can score a reality show, so can the forgotten Jackson brothers.

  35. Zoe says:

This has already been confirmed as false, I hope that you update that. I’m alarmed at the number of people posting who were totally convinced this was accurate. It was a rumor which has now been debunked. Katherine is looking after her kids and will continue to in the face of ridiculousness like this.

  36. TwinkleToes says:

Those 3 kids are absolutely, breathtakingly gorgeous.

  37. TwinkleToes says:

Betty, have you see Lamas’ daughter Victoria (the blond one)? She is bright and beautiful. Really spunky. I wish she were my little girl.

  38. BitterBetty says:

Twinkle, I haven’t actually watched the show, but I have seen pictures of the little Lamas girls. Shawna Sand is a hideous skank but somehow she managed to have three adorable daughters.

I do remember seeing a paparazzi video of Shawna asking the eldest if she “wants to do playboy ,too”. yeah, thats right. thankfully the little girl just rolled her eyes and said “no, mom. I don’t”.

So I’m sure ANY of those girls would love you to steal them away…
