Elle Fanning in a Gucci tuxedo look at the SAG Awards: fabulous or not?

Elle Fanning was one of the “fan favorites” for fashion-watchers at the SAG Awards. She was nominated too, for The Great (she did not win, but she had a good time). Elle usually leans into ethereal-fashion, light, sweet, girly. So it was a pleasant change-up to see her go with this Gucci suit. She told E!’s Red Carpet that she didn’t feel like wearing a dress at the SAGs and she wasn’t the only woman who felt that way – there were several women wearing suits or menswear-inspired looks. Is this my absolute fave? Not really, but I like it on her. I love the detailing on it, the glittery pants, the bow tie, the necklace layered in with the bow tie. It’s very cute.

Hailee Steinfeld came to the SAGs as a former nominee. She wore a somewhat boring Miu Miu gown which was probably on-trend. We’ve been seeing tons of cut-outs (particularly at the waist) for more than a year now. I think this would have looked cuter without the cutouts? I like the idea of a simple ponytail on the red carpet too, although I think her hair is too slicked down.

There’s just something about Elle. I am sure she has some fashion misses, but this isn’t one of them for me.

  2. Remy says:

She’s cute. It works on her.

It also looks like she painted her nails yellow and blue for Ukraine.

I love Elle’s look. I think the hair and the glittery pants keep it from being too severe.

Love Elle Fanning, love this look on her and LOVE her in The Great. It’s such a great series in every way!

The Great is such a crazy show I can’t help but love it. Also the fact that the two leads are super charismatic and have amazing chemistry doesn’t hurt

I feel like Hailee’s Inspo was definitely Zoe Kravitz?

Elle’s lip color! Gotta find out what shade she’s wearing

Elle is so cute, but I’ve had a life-long aversion to tuxedo vests on women – they never, ever fit right. Every other season or so the fashion world tries to bring back vests – “Vested Interest!!” – I’m just “no.”

Elle looked amazing! I liked Hailee’s dress, but wish her hair wasn’t slicked down and sticking to her forehead?

Elle looks great! I like Hailee’s dress but minus the cut outs. I’ve just never been a big fan of cut outs.

Elle here is a rare example of a woman doing a flesh/nude look that doesn’t make her look notably corpse-adjacent. Because the tuxedo top’s pale gold contrasts with her skin’s natural undertone and pink blusher. I’m baffled by these flesh tone awards outfits and how frequently ghastly they make the actresses look when they match their skin. How do they not see this when they look in a mirror? Or is “Corpse, but make it FASHION!” actually a thing??

Elle looks lovely, I like her look and I LOVE “The Great”!! Such a terrific show. Hailee is a gorgeous young woman, but the dress looks like a bikini top under a suspender skirt and would have been better with a more structured top (keep the cutout if you must, but I agree that a simple column dress is more effective.) She has a beautiful figure so she still looks amazing. I also am not a fan of the errant piece of hair plastered to her forehead; if you want to do sleek, slick it all to the side, and if you want to do wispy, don’t, but the combo looks weird. Again, it’s a testament to her beauty that she still looks fabulous even with the odd styling choices.

I think she looks AMAZING! She’s giving us sexy dandy vibes.

I adore elle’s look here. And I love that she looks confident and not like a young ingenue dressed self consciously sexy. Like poor hallee. And yeah that one hair slicked down away from the rest….it is very stylized and I don’t feel like she is confident in pulling it off
