Ireland Baldwin: ‘I smoke weed, I eat good food and I mind my own business’

I haven’t paid as much attention to Ireland Baldwin because Hecate has been covering her. I know that she’s open and honest about her anxiety, which is admirable. When celebrities admit that they struggle with anxiety it helps so many people. Ireland recently posted a long message to Instagram, mostly about the hate she gets online and how that’s affected her. It sounds like Ireland was inspired by Camila Cabello opening up about her body image in light of the photos that paparazzi took of her at the beach. Ireland said that grown ass people have attacked her online about her looks and body since she was a child, basically, and that she’s over it. She’s not going to comment on her dad’s umpteen kids (my words) and she doesn’t care. She’s happy and living life on her own terms. She posted four pages and I’ve embedded that Instagram below. Here’s part of Yahoo’s writeup on this:

Ireland Baldwin… posted on Instagram on Wednesday to say that she’s “angry and tired” of being the subject of online bullying. And while she’s been encouraged to “ignore” the hateful messages that she receives, she’s decided that she’s going to take a stand against them.

“I am a person (in case you thought otherwise). Words hurt no matter how much I pretend like they don’t. I know it’s best to stay silent sometimes and let things fizzle out…ehhh but I’m done doing that,” she wrote. “I lost my way. I have been so ridden with anxiety and have worried about how people perceived me. I’ve let that affect my friendships, relationships, life/work opportunities… you name it.”

Ireland went on to say that she was inspired by Camila Cabello to speak up after the singer posted a message on her Instagram about body image insecurities and the pressure that she faces as a public person. “I relate to every word of her post,” Ireland wrote.

“I have been called some version of fat, ugly, worthless and irrelevant since I was a kid. It’s nothing new,” she continued. “Paparazzi have followed me around for whatever boring reason and have snapped photos all up, in, and around my ass, cellulite, back fat, double chin, tits, you name it! It’s invasive and super lame, but out of my control.”

“I get countless messages from people who are kind of alarmingly obsessed with my father and his family. I think a lot of people assume my take on any of this, well here it is for free – it’s none of my business,” Ireland said. “My life is here in Oregon with my boyfriend, 6 dogs, and my new business. I smoke weed, I eat good food, and I mind MY own business.”

So I’m a fan of Ireland’s now! That was one of the best rants/screeds on self esteem I’ve read and I was thinking “right on.” Ireland is 26 and if she’s figuring this out now and can make it stick psychologically she’s ahead of a lot of people. I was probably ten years older than her when I realized I don’t have to get approval from other people and that it didn’t matter. I’m still working on that. I didn’t have her tough education about it though. Maybe she should just turn off her DMs except for people she’s following. I do that and I’ve also limited comments on the posts. My Instagram posts aren’t even personal they’re just stories and photos from CB! I can’t imagine posting a photo where you feel and look cute and getting hate comments.

Good for her! She is gorgeous, love this whole vibe

Yeah, she’s kind of boho and it really works for her. Live your life happily, Ireland, you deserve it! I love my dogs to death but just can’t with face licking, yuck!!

      • Barbie1 says:

She is a beautiful lady. It’s a shame she has Baldwin as a dad. Wishing her happiness.

  2. equality says:

It’s nice that she doesn’t comment about her half-siblings. Those poor children likely have enough to deal with also.

  3. Bettyrose says:

I forget that she’s Kim Bassinger’s daughter because her mom is rarely seen but here’s the proof. Her mom was once poster child of Hollywood beauty and Ireland is stunning. It cannot be easy though. Portrait of a Centerfold (note to young CB’s, if you’ve never seen it check your streaming services ASAP) is the heart wrenching story of how women’s looks are used against them. And her own father contributes to a lot of the awfulness in the industry.

  4. Izzy says:

Her own father has used that kind of imagery against her, he called her a thoughtless pig, when she was a teenager. It’s pretty telling that she: 1) has her mother’s maiden name as part of the full name she uses publicly, 2) is not in the family business of acting, and 3) moved across the country from her father.

    • Bettyrose says:

I’m amazed she has any kind of relationship with him at all. I’d bet that all his abusive behavior is counteracted with apologies and gifts, as abusers do. And it’s hard to fully remove a parent from your life, I imagine harder when the parent is an a-list celebrity.

I’d also guess that, seeing as how she knows what a challenge he can be as a father, she may want to maintain a presence in the kids’ lives in case they ever want to talk to an adult who understands.

      • Bettyrose says:

That’s a good point. When her first sister was born, that was probably pretty cool for her after being an only child. With so many now it’s probably hard to maintain relationships with all but if she’s in touch with the older ones (who may not be online yet but can talk on the phone).

    • Haylie says:

I’m not sure Ireland was a teenager when Alex left that abusive voicemail tirade. She may have been in tween territory, aka, a child.

      • Bettyrose says:

I googled it the other day and he says she’s 11 or 12 (he isn’t sure. Lots to unpack).

  5. Jillian says:

6 dogs?! She’s living the dream

    • Tiffany:) says:

My thoughts exactly! I’d love to go have a little doggie sanctuary.

    • Jillibillijean says:

This has nothing to do with the story, but do people constantly mispronounce your name? Or is it just me and I’m surrounded by morons lol

  6. MerlinsMom1018 says:

When she smiles (which is glorious) THAT’S when I see her Mama, (who is also stunning)
She spoke from her chest and I applaud her for that. I don’t think it will make any difference to trolls but she put it out there and good for her.
Hopefully someone will see that and say “yes yes yes” and apply that to themselves

  7. K says:

    Omg she is stunning. Damn!

  8. mj says:

She is absolutely gorgeous. I’ve followed her for years. She used to come off as clever and good-hearted if a little naïve and defensive regarding her privilege. I think it’s cool that she is a little more realistic about that now. Uses her resources to rescue lots of animals which is pretty cool. It’s been nice to see her mature and figure herself out. She seems genuinely happy now which I love for her. I can hardly blame her for not commenting on her dad’s situation. Regardless of the mess, it’s her father and siblings, there’s nothing she could say that wouldn’t be hurtful towards people she loves. She seems to have a genuine relationship with Carmen in particular which I think is sweet.

  9. Merricat says:

She seems like she’s made some peace with the parts of her life that were chaotic. I think her life sounds wonderful now. And Oregon is beautiful.

  10. Luna17 says:

Good for her. Her dad and his current wife are narcissists who keep ordering surrogate babies as props for Instagram yet won’t admit it and tried to make women feel like shit with her fake pregnancy bounceback posts (seriously the Hilaria Baldwin Reddit has all the receipts and it’s an insane ride!). I feel bad for the young kids but glad Ireland is away from that mess. I read somewhere that Hillary from Boston unfollowed Ireland recently online and Irelands boyfriend posted a cucumber during her live which is making fun of Hillary for pretending to forget the English word for cucumber during a tv appearance before she got busted for the Spanish grift. So I think some shit went down with Ireland and that side of the family and she is taking to high road. Hopefully her mom is a good support for her too.

    • MipMip says:

Omg Luna! I just went down the Hilaria Baldwin Reddit rabbit hole and… holy hell the grift goes REAL deep with that woman.

I hate to accuse any woman of faking their pregnancy- we saw how toxic that can get with Meghan Markle- but that maniática is a lying liar face, using her non-pregnant yoga body to shame actually pregnant and postpartum women into impossible body standards. EW

ETA: I am also now an Ireland Baldwin fan

  11. Heather says:

Must suck for her to have to answer for her dad’s bullshit all of the time. I follow her on tiktok and she had to delete a video using a gun sound trend because everybody was on her in the comments about her dad and the rust situation.

  12. cassandra says:

She looks great with brown hair! I also totally want that dress

  13. JFerber says:

I like her a lot. Good for her to be on the West Coast near her mother and not the East Coast with dad. Big props to her mom for raising a lovely, normal young woman.

  14. Kim says:

She exudes happiness! Wonderful to see. I looked at her Insta and her profile says “Writer”. I wonder what she’s up to with writing? I love it!
