Brad Pitt isn’t retiring anytime soon but he’s ‘over that hump of middle age’

I still can’t get over how TIGHT Brad Pitt’s face is right now. This isn’t just a chemical peel or “good hydration” or whatever. It’s not even fillers, at least I don’t think so. I’m used to seeing people with fillers and you can really tell from the puffy stillness of their faces, and their inability to make regular facial expressions. Again, this is something else, like a high-quality facelift. My guess is Pitt went to a French surgeon, probably the same guy used by Gisele Bunchen and Sharon Stone. That guy does really good work. Anyway, Brad is still promoting Bullet Train in Europe. The cast already hit up Paris and Berlin and I’m including those photos in this post. Brad is definitely going through an odd fashion phase too. I like the theory that because Brad doesn’t have a girlfriend, he doesn’t know whose style to copykeen. Brad is also doing interviews and here are highlights from some comments he made to AFP:

How he told GQ he was in the last phase of his career: “I’m not getting out by any means. It seems that might have been taken as a statement of retirement. That’s not what I was saying. I’m over that hump of middle age and so I’m looking at that last leg… how do I want to spend that time? At my age, you’ve made enough mistakes… now there’s a comfort in applying that kind of wisdom.”

He sees Bullet Train as somewhat inspired by Jackie Chan’s movies: “It’s much more fun than the regular punch-up. It’s infused with humour and character. I can’t say enough about Jackie Chan and what he’s done, and to be in that arena, even close to that, is something I hadn’t done before.”

Pitt is not wedded to the nostalgia of movie theatres. “I like the dichotomy, the streamer as well as the theatre experience, because films were getting so expensive to do and to market that it was either big tent-pole movies or very small intimate movies and there was no room for anything in-between. Streamers have opened it up for more voices.”

After he won the Oscar for Once Upon a Time, I worried that we would see a revival of Brad Pitt-the-actor, but it never really happened. I still wonder if Brad is getting as many scripts as people think. I wonder the same thing about George Clooney too, although Clooney was smart enough to lean into “older man” roles long ago. Brad Pitt was always more of a character actor masquerading as a leading man, and now he’s kind of too old for most of that. I don’t know, I really wonder what he is being offered now. As for what he says about theatrical releases versus streamers… that’s fine with me, I don’t have a problem with it. He’s right – streamers have been so good to the many mid-budget movies which would have never been made by the studios.

Don’t see anything wrong in what he’s saying. Not the biggest fan, but I might see him in a flick where he’s playing a grandpa. Women age out in flames in Hollywood and men get more of a grace period.

  2. HeyKay says:

He just can’t accept the fact that he is over 50 can he?
Hollywood fact, 50+ means younger talent is right behind you.
Time to move into producing or whatever.
Also, films are being replaced by streaming.

In Brad Pitts case, many of is no longer give 2 hoots if he’d just go away.

    • nina says:

@HeyKay, You are being generous with the over fifty. He is two years short of 60. So probably 60 already, we all know that actors chop some of the years off. He is on his way to old age. Middle age is waving in his rear view mirror. AARP and funeral service insurance companies have him on their lists of potential clients to contact. Just saying.

      • NorthStar says:

As a 58 year old woman, I find your comments rather harsh.

      • Skyblue says:

I agree Northstar. Really harsh. Are those of us over 50 supposed to check out of life altogether? There is an ageist misconception that creativity, intelligence, vitality and desire just dries up after 50.

      • Thinking says:

Not gonna lie— I found this depressing to read ha ha.

    • Andrew's_Nemesis says:

He’s grotesque. Peter Pan man-baby, and abusive to boot.

  3. MangoAngelesque says:

I think he looks pretty good. I wish he wouldn’t tan so much, but that’s just a skincare issue. Beyond that, I don’t see much to complain about here.

  4. Noki says:

Unpopular opinion i have never really been blown away by Brads acting other than Legends of the Fall and i guess Se7en final scene. His cameo in Friends was awful too.

    • Mslove says:

      Same

    • shanaynay says:

      Same.

    • TeamMeg says:

He’s the same in every role. You never, ever forget who you’re looking at when it’s Brad Pitt on screen. That said, I think he could still be playing leading man-type roles for a while. At least another ten years. Why? Because older moviegoers enjoy seeing people in their age/peer group doing romantic, exciting and adventurous movie things. We ain’t dead yet. And BP still looks fine enough to watch. No matter how big of a sh*theel he is as a husband, dad, disaster relief do-gooder or whatever. Not saying I will pay money to see one of his films. But many will.

    • Lizzie says:

He’s good in a comedy. I really liked him in Mr. & Mrs. Smith. I’ll probably see Bullet Train.

  5. C says:

I’m never going to forget when he talked about seeing Luke Perry with Leonardo DiCaprio and said, “OMG! He was that icon of coolness for us as teenagers!” when Luke Perry was 3 years younger than Pitt.

  6. JoJo says:

Woah. Haven’t seen him in a while. His face looks great. Agree, whoever did it did amazing work. Really natural. He still looks just like himself. I want to know who did it so I can go to. 🙂

I’ve just come to accept that Brad Pitt is one of those actors that’s always “Brad Pitt” (vs. the character) in whatever movie he’s in. I did love him in Once Upon a Time … still Brad Pitt acting like himself in a movie but it worked that time.

    • Poppy says:

I loved him in River Runs Through It. He was so beautiful, and it was such a touching and progressive story.

      • dj says:

I love the movie A River Runs Through It too. Robert Redford directed it and if you look a Pitt’s acting it really is a Robert Redford role. Brad Pitt is great in it because he is simply acting like Robert Redford. Love that movie though. The words are so so beautiful as is Brad in it.

      • elizabeth says:

Me too. I just rewatched it during the pandemic, and I cried. (Granted – I was also tipsy), but he and that movie are perfect together.

  7. Thoughts says:

Brad’s been talking about “retiring” for years now, including when he was with Jolie, but he always backtracks it. Also, there’s something off about his promotions for Bullet Train and he seems like an old man trying to hang out with the cool kids; and like there’s something deeper going on with him, but he’s not getting the help he truly needs.

    • Queen Meghan’s Hand says:

      He’s no longer sober.

      • Southern Fried says:

Agree and beginning to think his publicist must drink right along with him. I’m thinking in particular of his ‘I’m an artsy-fartsy deep guy’ interview and photos, really really awful.

      • Lady D says:

Explains him karate kicking his way on stage in the previous set of pictures.

    • AD says:

👍🏽 so right, it’s all for attention fooling people to watch their movies!

  8. Rea says:

He needs a stylist, his looks are being wasted. Kuddos for whoever does work on his face, they do an amazing job very few celebrities look natural. I wish that person who worked on his face could have done McGowan’s.

  9. Larelyn says:

Yesterday’s links post had Tom Cruise (BP’s contemporary – 60yo). Comparing the two, it’s clear to me which one is comfortable enhancing their looks and which is fighting it HARD. Just not sure I’d want to see anything from either of them right now.

  10. Merricat says:

Honestly, I think he’s a case of arrested development. Not the humorous kind.

  11. Oye says:

Icon superstar HE. some just whine whine without a real point needs cheese with it thats all..lol

  12. elizabeth says:

If I could get plastic surgery and look like Brad and Sharon Stone and Halle Berry (and I had the money for it), I would get it in a heartbeat so I too could look equally refreshed and well-rested.

  13. Lizzie says:

I’m sure Brad is wondering what Lizzie thinks, lol, but my advice is look for great scripts and take whatever role is offered. Please don’t ever have a love interest where your age difference is counted in decades. And get a stylist cause sloppy is doing you no favors.

  14. AC says:

I don’t think he is over his mid life crisis and I don’t think he’s sober. His face is starting to look like leather
