Jessica Chastain wore Carolina Herrera to ‘The Good Nurse’ premiere: cute or nope?

I never would have thought to put Jessica Chastain and Eddie Redmayne in the same movie, but now that I’ve seen them together… I bet they got along really well. I bet they like each other a lot. I’m not saying that in a shady way – both are happily married to other people, both are parents of young children, etc. I just think their personalities probably complement each other and they seem like they would be fast friends.

Chastain and Redmayne star together in The Good Nurse, which will have a brief theatrical run before it debuts on Netflix on October 26. I thought maybe this was something Chastain nurtured and produced, but no – she was just an actress for hire on this one. The photos in this post are from last night’s New York premiere/screening. Chastain wore this completely hilarious Carolina Herrera cocktail dress which consists of a white tube and four large bows. Even though the dress is very bad, Jessica is sort of pulling it off in a weird way? Redmayne decided to sartorially compete with Jess by wearing some kind of deconstructed suit.

This film looks really good, and I’m looking forward to seeing their double-act, which will probably be an awards contender (if they promote it the right way). Apparently, Redmayne and Chastain did two weeks of nursing school so they could properly “act” the nursing scenes. The trailer is very good.

her dress actually works with the suit.
a more staid version of deconstruction, perhaps

I love this on her! I really liked the moment in an interview where JC admits to never having watched The Fantastic Beasts crap.

I like this dress. It’s actually fun instead of Herrera’s usual subdued designs. I don’t like the heels though. I think she should have done a different strappy heel.

She looks fine. The nope in all of this is Eddie’s artsy-fartsy unfinished suit. It’s not fashion if it looks like fashion-in-the-making. Sorry, not sorry.

Dress is fine (especially compared to Redmayne’s monstrosity) but her face is GREAT. She looks fresh and so pretty.

ETA. no idea why this has appeared as a reply here, sorry! Drives me nuts trying to post comments on my phone…

Meh it’s ok. She is so gorgeous though. They look like brother and sister.

Too much material and too fussy imo. Not terrible.

One bow would have been plenty. Two might have worked, but four? Ouch. Two or three too many… Agree that the black shoes are wrong. OTOH, I love, love, love the deconstructed suit on ER.

    I think it’s hideous!

Truly horrifying trailer. This so called nurse is a straight up devil! I won’t be seeing it. I can’t stomach the thought that people like him walk amongst us.

  11. Anastasia says:

I’m going to go against the grain and say NOPE. I know the bows are supposed to be over sized, but they look a little too oversized for her, it’s distracting.

  12. Eurydice says:

I think they both look great, but they also look like their luggage was lost and they had to patch together outfits using the hotel sewing kit and whatever fabric they could find in their rooms.

  13. Kirsten says:

I think it’s kind of cute, and she looks fantastic. She actually just talked in an interview about how much she liked Eddie and how much she enjoyed working with him.

  14. Emme says:

No, Eddie, just no! You look like a tramp.
