Rob Pattinson on biting fans: “It depends on what you want to get out of it”

Robert Pattinson was on David Letterman last night doing some needless promotion for New Moon. He was very funny and charming, and the more I see of this kid the more I like him. Sure he’s descended into levels of self deprecation that are borderline ridiculous, but there’s something very genuine about him. I don’t get the feeling that his overshares are a put on like Megan Fox.

Interviewers have been asking Pattinson and his co-star Kristen Stewart about their rumored romance, and they’ve so far avoided the question. They’re also inevitably asked about their experiences with hardcore Twilight fans. Pattinson shared some funny fan stories with Letterman, and I found myself laughing out loud a few times. He said that fans often ask him to bite them and that they’ll even present him with their babies to bite:

On guys asking him to bite them
In addition to [mothers as fans] there were a couple more guys…

There was a maybe 230 pound guy who was at the premiere kind of hispanic looking, and he was asking me to bite him as well. So I did, and the surprising thing was I kind of liked it afterwards. And I’ve been out to dinner with him a couple of times.

On whether he bites people or not
It depends on your mood really. And it depends, you know, what you want to get out of it in the end. There’s variations of biting.

On biting babies
That was before anyone asked me to bite them at all… Someone handed me this child to do whatever with. Initially I thought they were just giving it to me. And somehow I ended up biting the baby on the head. There was a photo of it afterwards.

On if he’s dating Kristen Stewart
I’ve been so kind of cryptically avoiding this question throughout the entire press tour.

That was really cute, and while I’m a little burnt out on the New Moon hype I definitely will go see this film when it hits theaters here in Germany next week.

People Magazine has advance details of Pattinson’s appearance on Ellen’s show, which airs today. When asked about the craziest thing a fan’s ever done for him he said he jokingly told a girl in a crowd to take off her clothes – and she did. He explained that he felt really bad about it afterwards. “She stood there and frantically started taking her clothes off and got dragged out of the room by security. I never felt more terrible.” You know that girl is calling up all her friends squealing “OMG, Edward remembered me!”

Here’s Pattinson on The Today Show this morning. He said he regrets changing his teeth for the first movie, but that’s “the only regret I have” about fame. He was responding to a question by Matt Lauer on whether he’d like to “put the genie back in the bottle” in regards to his massive fame. This interview kind of goes into the self-deprecating style, but then it starts to get fun again when he talks about the tabloid rumors and says they’re all true. He also reveals that he was about to quit acting before he got the audition for Twilight.

Agh, stop making me.. like him! That’s not what I come here for *sniffle*

What does he mean by regretting changing his teeth? Veneers? How weird is it that he goes around biting random people because they ask?

Now is there location condition to him biting fans? Because I might ask him to bite me but I think the placement might be hella inappropriate on the street…

@snowball. He had his teeth filed and spaced, I think he was supposed to wear some sort of braces and refused to wear them, that cause him some problems.
He didn’t really bite that guy, he was just kidding around, but he has said before that he fake bit the baby for a photo.
He tells ridiculous stories, that’s just his thing.

It’s impossible to not smile when he’s telling these goofy stories, he’s obviously having fun with getting to do all these appearances. I like the guy, and I find the way he sits all hunched over very endearing.

I am his fan and not of Twilight.
Here’s the trailer for his next film “Remember Me”. It looks amazing.

lol The interviews were funny. Especially the last part about you can’t really quit if you’re not getting jobs… it’s more like surrendering. He has a nice sense of humor.
