Did Elisabetta Canalis cheat on George Clooney?

91124x5_clooney_b-gr_02

These are photos of George Clooney and his latest girlfriend, Elisabetta Canalis. I couldn’t resist this one, because Elisabetta face is killing me. The other guy is killing me too – but Elisabetta is making the same kind of “WTF?” expression. What is she saying with her eyes? It’s lost in translation – something like “Oh God, act sober, act cool, don’t pull a Sarah Larson.” I’ve had to admit it before, but I’ll do it again – I was wrong about Elisabetta Canalis. I thought she would only last a few months. She and George have now been dating about five months. He’s taken her on red carpets, he’s traveled around Italy with her, he’s busted his hand doing something kinky. It’s true love. Or whatever facsimile Clooney enjoys.

Anyway, Lainey Gossip reported that there’s a rumor going around Italy that Elisabetta is cheating on Clooney. Ha! So much for Elisabetta being a “co-pilot” in Clooney’s life, right? Well… the reports are actually pretty sketchy:

George Clooney took Elisabetta Canalis out for sushi yesterday. The Italian Queen is still very much a part of Clooney’s life even though Italian tabloids are reporting that she stepped out on George recently with Clarence Seedorf, a soccer player. Thanks to Giulietta for sending along the link. Apparently Elisabetta was flirting heavily with Seerdorf and Italian gossips are suggesting she may have f-cked him in the hotel.

The article is amazingly funny after translation. They write with such cheese flair and lack of political correctness, so blatantly and yet (for them) so obliviously offensive it’s actually kind of hilarious. My friend LB who is Italian translated for me. I have not edited her comments which are bracketed because they cracked me up:

When George is away Elisabetta dances. From one moment to the next, everyone expects pictures of George in the company of another beautiful girl. Instead, no. The one to be papped in the company of another is actually she – the beautiful Canalis. The other in question is Clarence Seedorf, of Milan (soccer) and former teammate of Elisabetta’s ex, Vieri. [she dated Vieri? lucky bitch]. The couple, black and white as is all the rage [WTF? italians are so un p.c.] was papped by Novella 2000 and in the photo in question they can be seen in intimate poses, exchanging kisses and tendernesses. [whatever – you know what i mean]. The encounter took place in London where she remained with her assistant for fashion-related work after Clooney’s Up in the Air presentation. The two met at a luxurious London hotel while George was back across the ocean.
So is Elisabetta cheating on George?

Please.

She is many things, but she is not stupid. The others before her? The Sarah Larsons of the world? They were stupid. You don’t get to where Canalis has gotten by being stupid. So it’s doubtful that she’s being unfaithful. Is your smutty sense tingling? Because mine is. Who’s to say she’s not sharing Seerdorf’s friendship with George? Perhaps he’s a wonderful conversationalist. Maybe they have the same preferences. This is how she keeps it interesting, see?

[From Lainey Gossip]

I think Elisabetta “keeps it interesting” by not sugar-coating her relationship with George, honestly. She’s there for sex and to be someone pretty on his arm for the Oscar campaign. She sticks around because he’s great for her career and because he lavishes gifts on her in lieu of an actual adult relationship based on love, trust, and all that jazz. Of course, that’s just my take. I know people are going to start in with the “Clooney is gay” stuff, but I’ll just say again that I don’t think he is. I think he likes it kinky and professional. And Elisabetta knows it.

Not, sure this story is true, the photo of the soccor player with Eli used to the illustrate the ‘liason’ is from 2005 taken in Milan not London. They have been friends for at least 4years, he is by all accounts a happily married man and does lots of charity work in England, I thinks its just muck raking by sleezey tabloids who don’t care who might get hurt by a trumped up story.

The George /Elisabetta romance doesn’t look like its going to last past Christmas so they need a new angle to sell the gossiprags in Italy.

On the Clooney is gay stuff….I don’t buy it, Bi maybe. No man who spends as much time as he does in strip clubs getting lap dances is gay.

  2. sonola trip says:

Clooney hasn’t been traveling Italy to be with Canalis. He’s been shooting a film there for the last two months called “A Very Private Gentleman”.

  3. Pont Neuf says:

This girl Elisabetta seems to be much more level-headed than the usual wasteland hussies that Clooney seems to like.

Maybe their relationship has lasted that long because, as you say, she doesn’t expect from him more than he can give, and takes the relationship for what it is: companionship in exchange for publicity.

Still, I am intrigued by George Clooney. I don’t know whether he is gay or bisexual or anything else, but I find it interesting that he would still have this adolescent outlook on relationships; it’s almost as if he didn’t want to let go of his youth by having lots of ‘friends with benefits’, as some college-aged men do.

  4. bella says:

It would appear that their relationship is also a business agreement, with each getting what they want out of it (a pretty woman on his arm & in his bed; publicity and material things), or it will end.

I don’t think George is gay, but I do think he loves his independence (for lack of a better term) more than the idea of being tied down to any one person or thing (except Italian real estate). And at his age, he’s not likely to change. When he seems able to obtain women who meet his criteria, why would he?

  5. loldongs says:

    @point neuf

Uh, no. George Clooney has been adamant that he’d never get married “again”.

Say what you want about the man, he’s not stupid, and marriage and having children simply don’t offer the same incentives that it once did. It’s built right into the system, instituted by the state.

Clearly having experienced it once was enough for him and he’s taking the next best option.

It has little to do with him appearing to be “developmentally stunted” as you alluded to.

He knows the chips are stacked against men when it comes to marriage and kids and he’s playing the system to his advantage.

    And good for him.

  6. TwinkleToes says:

He’s shallow and if he isn’t gay he’s got some serious issues. I think he and Leo are both probably gay.

  7. Maritza says:

He used to be very attractive but now he just looks old and ugly.

  8. Lauram says:

Call me a hopeless romatic, but maybe they actually care for each other?

It seems pretty jaded to assume she’s only with him to further her career, especially when she hasn’t been talking to the press about their relationship.

I doubt she’d cheat on him. They seem very compatible and she’s definitely a step up from Sarah Larson…

  9. Firestarter says:

Well, when you are a straight woman dating a gay man, it must be frustrating, so she has to get something from somewhere.

  10. Daffy Duck says:

I am sure George knows that if he was a normal business man, she wouldn’t have given him the time of day. These types of women are a dime a dozen and when he tires of her there will be plenty more standing in line. He dates these types for a reason, they are easy, available and will drop everything to follow him. He has always stated his work is his prime focus and doesn’t have a problem with this type of lifestyle. I do think he looked happier with Sarah Larson, they actually looked like they were having fun, he looks miserable with this one. I don’t think she is any better than the others he has dated. On the red carpet she appeared to be a ‘diva’, and succeeded in making him look like a fool.

  11. Nebraska says:

And this is the mullet George from “the facts of life”…sigh

  12. wow says:

Yeah, that picture of Elisabetta and the other dude is old.

That’s pretty sad that they have to dig up old pictures from way back to try to discredit this woman & her relationship with Clooney. Lainey is really slacking on that one.

As for Clooney, are people still getting up in arms over his dates? We should be use to how he plays this by now. It’s fun.

  13. Raven says:

Light bulb’s comment put a good perspective on this situation. I think this woman is pretty savvy.

As far as him never remarrying, Clint Eastwood said the same thing for years. Of course, if he’s gay, all bets are off.

  14. Jojo says:

This is the first time I’ve seen a pic of George where his age is clearly showing. He looks like he could be her father in this picture.

  15. smilelover says:

It’s only another PR stunt. He just needs the attention and the imagine as being straight. But he isn’t. So many gay men are/were married before coming out of the closet. Yawn, old news

  16. Sumodo says:

Clooney dumps ’em before Christmas, so he doesn’t have to 1) buy presents 2) give an engagement ring. Her time is done.

  17. Goddess711 says:

Maybe they agreed to keep their options open and she made good on the option? Don’t worry George, I’m here for ya!

  18. Bete says:

The poor girl is counting down the days until the end of her dating contract with George.
Seems as though not all the Louboutins in the world are worth these celebrity dating contracts. Anything longer than a year and it takes its toll on a woman’s health. Look at Kate Holmes’s series of breakouts, weight losses, etc.

I don’t buy the professional and kinky stuff view. If that was the case, he’d just contract prostitutes. He’ll probably do a Rock Hudson or a George Michael (admit his sexuality when he’s financially comfortable and reaches a point when he’s tired of celebrity – which will probably be never, or maybe posthumously).

  19. Holly says:

Clooney is sooooooooooo GAY! Get it out in the open already will ya George. Man, you are aging badly! You look 58, not 48!

I’ll take Gerard Butler over you any day. He is only rumored to be with strings of women, while George actually dates them. At least GB doesn’t string them along. He does his shiat and then moves on. That’s a straight MAN for ya!

  20. lisa says:

George is showing his age and then some. Especially in that second picture, his neck is going south. And it makes him look like an old man. I used to think of George as the next Warren Beatty but now not so much. Warren found his Annette. George seems to over compensate. His humor is always on. Yes he is charming. But it just feels forced sometime. George seems to have some issues. I don’t get the gay vibe usually with him. Except when he looks at Brad (lol). I also don’t understand why ALL the women he dates seem to be a bit on the trashy side. He seems very refined but he loves the girls like that. And this one does not seem any different then the last, except she loves the attention and knows the game better..

Watch out George. This one may be a problem.

  21. Popcorny says:

What in Holy Age Accelerant has Clooney been drinking?
He’s sportin’ quite the elderly look from the puckered and lipless mouth to his weakly and thin fragile looking shoulders.
I’ve waited impatient decades for this to happen and the title to this article could just as well read “Clooney Finally Ages/No Longer a Global Threat” -I just cannot get past the award-winning pictures!

  22. Velvet_Julie says:

You know what? If George isn’t gay, I really think he needs to meet a Madonna in his life. For those who don’t remember, Warren Beatty starting dating her when they were both working on Dick Tracy. He took her as one of his many women, but things didn’t turn out as he expected. Madonna started being really nasty to him, sleeping around with many other guys and mocking him in the front of everyone else (you can have a sneak peak in the infamous In Bed With Madonna doc). His humiliation was so big, that he finally grew up and understood that he was way too old for his lothario behaviour. This is the real reason why he married Annette Bening, which was the best thing he could’ve done. As Dustin Hoffman, his old friend said, he was terribly scared of dying alone. I hope George will find a Madonna type to put him in the right place, so he’ll find a nice woman to have a family with. Because, it’s just plain sad that a man, after a certain age, has to pay women (with money, presents, glamour, fame…) to hang out with him.

  23. loldongs says:

So Velvet Julie, you’re advocating that women behave in such a pathological manner that men are driven to women out of fear and shame?

That’s incredibly screwed up, what the hell is happening to society.

And in case you hadn’t already figured it out. EVERY relationship whether directly or indirectly involves an exchange of money or resources.

Prostitution is simply more honest, and to be truthful a better option for most men.

It’s laughable for you to extol the virtues of a woman who will cheat on a man they’re involved with and purposely denigrate them, yet castigate men for engaging in what is a more honest representation of what male-female relationships really are.

An exchange for resources to services.

You can deny it all you want, but women are inherently materialistic and whether it’s a man offering a marriage with an opulent lifestyle or a couple grand for a night of fucking, it’s the same damn thing.

  24. la chica says:

the only reason people say he’s gay is because he’s not married. which is so completely stupid because there are tons of married men who step out on their wives with other MEN. marriage proves nothing. George is nothing but a confirmed bachelor. he likes women that he has to pay for. it’s as simple as that.

  25. Trillion says:

I just don’t get a couple of things:

    1. This idea that Clooney is gay.
    2. Why there is any problem with him, or anyone else male or female, playing the field. As long as there’s honesty, there’s no moral issue.

We’re all so lucky to live in this era, where we get to choose how we live our lives. A lifestyle of marriage and children is simply not for everyone. It’s best to just be honest about it and not force yourself into something just because of social pressure.

  26. Rosanna says:

@trillion: way to go, way to go!!!!

  27. @ says:

the man clearly dose not look happy . i doubt she was haveing an affair . we all asume all this wierd crap about all these people . maybe he has problems in his life that have nothing to do with her . i hope they are happy together . i hope it’s not what it looks like . being on the outside you never know what’s realy going on . maybe she would love him if he worked in a gas station . I’ve met the man and you know what i would date him even if he was bald and wieghed 300 lbs ! he has something that goes beyond looks or money . he has a truely beautiful spirit . too bad i am not his type . wish him happiness rather than pain ! stop judgeing him !

  28. brer rabbit says:

The silver fox is definitely ‘the man’, but for someone who’s only in his late 40’s, it looks like the stress of circuswood is taking a bit of a toll.

  29. Lourdes says:

I think Elisabetta needs to come clean with George, because she can bet her on life on it, HE WILL FIND OUT! Those close to the Elisabetta and her gentleman friend, say that he is a very handsome young man, from a very prominent family. They are also saying that his family are not very “please” with this so call affair, she will never fit in their social circle. This is why she is not letting George go for now, but at the first chance this young man committs to something more than an affair, she will say bye bye to George. I feel really bad for him, he is really under the impression, the she is madly in love with him. Wake Up George!
