Mariah Carey says her 12-year-olds are ‘good, nice kids, they’re kind-hearted people’

I really do find myself subscribing to Mariah Carey’s holiday ideology more and more as I get older. Like, as soon as Halloween is over, I’m ready for the Christmas season. I’m fine with a two-month-long “holiday season,” which includes Thanksgiving for Americans. I used to be like “why are they pumping Christmas music into every store on November 1st?” But now it’s lovely to me. I love this time of year, minus my least-favorite holiday, Halloween. Anyway, Mariah gave an exclusive interview to People Magazine to promote her new ad campaign with The Children’s Place (a kids’ clothing retailer), featuring her two 12-year-olds, Monroe and Moroccan. Dem Babies are on the verge of their teenage years! Some highlights:

Monroe & Moroccan turn 13 next April: “Don’t rush all of our lives. They’re still 12.” According to Carey, getting to watch Moroccan and Monroe grow into young adults is “actually really beautiful. They’re good, nice kids. They’re kind-hearted people, and I really enjoy being around them and watching them grow up into the people that they’re ultimately going to become.”

The kids are involved with sports: She doesn’t “want to be that overbearing person that talks about all the stuff that they do…[but] They’re into activities like physical sports and stuff like that, which I was hoping they would be, because when they were little, I had them doing that. Then, when it was COVID, they really couldn’t go anywhere and do anything. So now they’re both really enjoying activities and sports and all of that.”

Her holiday plans: “I keep that part as secret as possible until we get everything set. It’s just one of those things I do every year, where I make everybody wait to play Christmas music until I’m ready to take it in and feel like, ‘Okay, now it’s time for the holidays.'” Carey also says that she, Moroccan and Monroe “do the holiday season a little bit differently than most people,” but notes, “We have a great time. We have our traditions, like rolling in the snow, jumping in the hot tubs — stuff that most people don’t do, but it’s just that we’re all kind of daredevils. We also sit and play games, like Heads Up! or Taboo. For the past four years, I’ve been trying to make my traditional Christmas meals, like my dad’s recipe for linguini and clam sauce. I like to make sure Monroe and Rocky come in and cook with me.”

She hopes her kids love Christmas too: “All of us spending time together is more than enough as a gift for what I want for Christmas, and what I want for my kids for Christmas is to just enjoy themselves, be happy, enjoy being with family, and feel loved.”

She sounds almost subdued about Christmas! But you know she has something amazing planned. I hope that her kids are good and well-adjusted. I’ve talked a lot of sh-t about Mariah over the years, but I do think she’s a good mom who is trying to provide her kids with the lives and experiences she dreamt of for herself. It also sounds like Nick Cannon barely has anything to do with his firstborn children, mostly because he keeps having babies with other women. Anyway, can’t wait for November 1st, the official start of the holiday season!

Her kids are absolutely adorable! For no particular reason I believe she’s a great mom. AnywayI want it to be true. Of course Mariah is on our Christmas playlist, All I Want as the song the entire extended family will sing and sway along with, all ages.

    Gorgeous children!

Rolling in the snow and jumping in hot tubs is not a daredevil activity – and pretty commonplace too when you live in a cold weather climate. But admit those are some really adorable kids!

Christmas can start on November 12, but IMO Remembrance Day, November 11, needs ALL the attention after Thanksgiving. In Canada, we’ve already had Thanksgiving. Next is Remembrance Day, THEN Christmas!
Halloween is also my least favourite holiday. The only thing that makes it palatable for me is to watch “Coco” (Pixar) which celebrates The Ancestors and Elders instead of ‘evil’.

Why don’t people like Halloween? It’s my favorite, although I don’t like the gory stuff folks seem to get into sometimes.

I might need third party verification about what Mariah’s saying about her kids. I feel like they’re probably kind and easy going compared to a diva (although I don’t know anything about her kindness level).

Dem Babies™ are too cute! They’re 12 years old already??

I remember reading somewhere that Mariah had said that Dick Cannon doesn’t spend a lot of time with their kids. How could he when he’s so busy “going forth and multiplying?” Mariah and their kids look like they have a lot of fun in most photos. i like that she’s saying they’re kind-hearted people bc that not a description used a lot these days, not for most kids or adults.

I disagree about many/most kids being kind-hearted (I know some lovely adults, but also so many who are mean-spirited, divisive, and selfish so I don’t say that about most adults.) My kids and their friends are all very kind, polite, and sweet, and my general experience with the youths is that most of them are that way. I love the Gen Z kids and their energy!

My daughter has decided that Halloween is super-cool this year (she’s 11) so we did some limited home decor and she was super-extra about her costume (which came out looking great, so good job!) but she has ALWAYS been a Christmas-lover, and I am, too! She’s ready for it on November 1 and I already overheard her singing “All I Want For Christmas Is You” (her fave, hands down!) over the weekend. I’m ready for it as soon as Thanksgiving is over. The tree goes up the day after Thanksgiving at our house.

I hope Mariah and the twins have a fun and festive holiday, and I agree, she seems like a good mom and the kids seem like sweet kids. Can’t believe they’re almost 13!! I also can’t believe I have a tween and a teen, either, so…

They are adorable kiddos. They have a lot to deal with considering their dad. I just hope when they start to go pursue their adult lives they don’t get ripped apart by all the obnoxious nepo baby critics.

Cute kids who look happy. It’s nice to see.

I think it’s telling, in a good way, that she talks about them being good and kind hearted.

Can you imagine most celebrities saying that about their kids? No way.
It’s mostly about how talented, handsome or beautiful they are.

Mariah is proud that they are kind. I love that.
