Taylor Swift invited several Chiefs WAGs to her NYC apartment to watch the game

Taylor Swift has missed the past two Kansas City Chiefs games. Both were “away games” – one in Denver and one in Germany, so that’s probably the explanation. Taylor seems to prefer going to home games in Kansas City. Speaking of, Taylor is getting in good with the other Chiefs WAGs. Taylor quickly befriended Brittany Mahomes (wife of Patrick) but Taylor went even further than that, inviting other Chiefs WAGs to her New York apartment to watch the Chiefs on Sunday.

Travis Kelce and the Chiefs were playing across the pond, but Taylor Swift and her fellow Kansas City wives and girlfriends still showed support for their men on Sunday … with a group of ladies making their way to the singer’s NYC apartment to tune in to the game!!

Former Chiefs backup quarterback Shane Buechele’s wife, Paige, and tight end Blake Bell’s partner, Lyndsay, were all smiles after K.C. pulled off the 21-14 win over the Miami Dolphins in Germany … exiting Taylor’s TriBeCa pad following the matchup.

Patrick and Brittany Mahomes’ good pal Miranda Hogue — whose hubby, Summitt, played alongside the two-time Super Bowl champ at Texas Tech — was also present for the watch party.

We’re told the fun didn’t stop after the final whistle … as Swift, Brittany and the crew took the hang over to Casa Cipriani (one of Taylor’s favorite spots), where they celebrated the victory for hours.

Of course, Brittany has been spending a ton of time with Swift recently — as we previously reported, they all went out in the Big Apple together the night prior … enlisting Selena Gomez, Sophie Turner, Gigi Hadid and Cara Delevingne for the occasion. Brittany also spent some time with the WAGs on Saturday … sharing some snaps from their quick East Coast trip on social media.

I always think the sports-WAG phenomenon is kind of bonkers. Yes, their boyfriends and husbands work together and the men need to get along and have partnerships and trust. But to expect all of the WAGs to get along and spend time together too? It’s like a neverending office holiday party on a national stage. I’m glad most sports here in America don’t have that kind of European WAG culture, although it definitely looks like Taylor is trying to make it happen. I don’t know, is Taylor genuinely serious about Travis? This is a new indicator and I’m trying to figure out what it means, if anything.

Every time I see WAG just makes me think of back in the day it was wh8res and gold-diggers, not wives and girlfriends LOL. Cannot see it any other way!

  2. Lau says:

The wildest WAG culture has to be the football one in England. The 2000s era was the craziest but it’s still pretty wild.

  3. Mimi says:

Karma for Travis. He’s not that bright so he probably doesn’t know what he’s gotten into dealing with her. She is loving this soap opera.

    • Southern Fried says:

Travis has proven over time before TS that he’s a smart guy, making bank while the going is good. He is definitely no dummy.

    • Normades says:

He carries himself pretty damn well in the media storm. He seems bright to me.

    • Jais says:

I don’t even follow football or Taylor that much but even I can tell he comes across as cute funny and smart. Listen, she’s hanging with friends and going out for amazing dinners in nyc on the regular. I’m proper jealous.

    • Abby says:

I must have missed the part where there was drama?

    • Laura says:

I mean, he pursued her, I think he knows and wants it. Let’s not place the blame on women for everything shall we?

  4. Kate says:

I think making an effort to get to know your partners friends and their partners indicates some level of seriousness. If you’re as busy as she is and it’s just a fling, why spend the time?

Also after hearing those discussions about whether MetLife could be secure enough, wondering if there were security issues at play too for the games she missed. Or maybe she just didn’t feel like it.

    • Christine says:

I agree, I know next to nothing about Taylor, but to me, this is a sweet gesture to support Travis, even when he’s not there. I mean, she’s Taylor Swift, would anyone blink if she completely ignored this aspect of dating a professional athlete? She wants some girlfriends for when she’s in the stands.

  5. Lucy says:

I think she’s found someone who can explain the ins and outs of a football lifestyle to her, and it’s a blending of social groups. Prior to this, all of my Swiftie exposure has been headlines, but I don’t remember her cozying up to boyfriends friend groups immediately (although their moms yes, I think Hiddleston?). Also he probably has the least overlap with her existing friends, just by nature of living in Kansas City instead of NYC or California.

When my husband and I started dating, we spent time with each other’s friend groups, because that’s a great way to get to know each other, especially when it’s people who have been friends a while. I don’t know much about Britney other than she seems a little extra and she doesn’t have great style, but she’s known Travis for like five years and seen him in other relationships.

So I guess, it does mean it’s serious, and she’s probably working to find a circle she can trust in the football groups. I really deeply want her to meet the Philadelphia Kelces and hear what Kylie, Travis sister in law, thinks 😂

I think it’s great. Yep, she’s in it for the longer haul. Hangiñg out with the WAGS is a GREAT example to set. Why aren’t we talking about her potential meet up with Simone Biles, who has already said she would love to meet Taylor?? WE NEED TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

    • Truthiness says:

💯 agree she’s in it for the long haul.

The Chiefs play the Packers next month but it’s at Lambeau field. It would be cute if she made the trip just to meet Simone 🐐 but traveling to Green Bay is a LOT to ask for.

Makes me think of that excellent comedy show about football culture The Game, which involved the relationships of a fictional football team and their wives and girlfriends. All 8 seasons were pretty good (it got cancelled then renewed by another network). It was pretty groundbreaking and had a lot of celebrity guest stars. And those WAGS were also officially a club that supported the men and were called the Sunbeams. I’m laughing just thinking about TS being a “Sunbeam” type gf but stranger things have happened. I could see her taking charge though.

  8. Abby says:

This seems on-brand for Taylor. I feel like she’s one who has people over and bakes cookies as a thing she likes to do. It feels relatable. If I were in her shoes, I’d be wanting to get to know my boyfriend’s colleagues wives and girlfriends as well.

it’s interesting to me how she’s spending her downtime in between two major tours. This kind of makes me feel like she’s serious about Travis.

    • molly says:

When you’re that famous, I suspect you live a pretty lonely life. If I had a massive home and a reason to spend time with regular people I wasn’t paying for a night, I’d invite them over for a cookie party and drinks afterwards too!

    • bettyrose says:

MTE! This is 100% Tay’s brand and more power to her. I don’t see any downside to making friends with the WAGs. If Traylor is serious, it’s a nice tradition. If Traylor ends, she can maintain friendships with anyone she really connected with. The boys aren’t even necessarily close to each other outside of work.

  9. Lurker25 says:

Call me cynical (which, true), I think it’s pre-emptive moves to forestall a backlash. She’s giving the press “Taylor in her WAG era!” headlines so they don’t get bored/mean/itchy and run the “is Taylor overshadowing the game?”/ “Why Taylor is bad for football”/ “LEAKED: why the other Chief’s wives HAATE Taylor!” with all the anonymous sources who feel eclipsed now that the sun has entered their orbit.

It’s very, “oh his sweet and normal and relatable and exactly what I would do and she must really like him” and all the things that make her “just like us!” -: just chilling, watching the game with gal pals, totally a cool girl. So we’re not thinking that in reality she’s someone who could BUY the damn NFL team.

Girl is savvy AF about controlling the narrative. 💐

    • Abby says:

LOL LOL LOL I have loved this whole story arc but I actually didn’t even think about how she’s THAT rich, so rich she could buy (more than one) entire football team. LOL.

I have said it before, but one thing I like about Travis is that he seems confident in himself to where he’s not threatened by Taylor’s fame or wealth. At this stage of her life, I feel like that would be very hard to find in a partner. It’s one of the reasons I really hope they work out.

    • bettyrose says:

You’re right, she is savvy, and she’s not wrong that the press could easily turn and decide to create WAG drama. She absolutely is thinking ahead to curtail that narrative early on. And I love it for all of us. The world doesn’t need another media storm about feuding female celebs.

  10. Mina says:

It looks like she’s not only making friends with them herself, but integrating them into her existing friend circle, which suggests that she/they are indeed quite serious. Did anyone else see that “dusty ex theory” that was floating around back during the rebound debacle in May? To very loosely summarize it, it goes 1) End a serious, long-term relationship; 2) Make a series of VERY bad rebound decisions that make your friends tear out their hair; 3) Meet your husband.

They’re both in their mid-30s and recently out of long-term relationships. I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s looking around and saying, yes it’s early days, but holy cow I’ve met a guy who can actually handle and even thrive on the chaos of being with Taylor Freaking Swift, plus he’s hard-working and successful and I can climb him like a tree. Let’s lock it down.

    • Abby says:

LOCK IT DOWN TAYLOR! Totally agree with all of this.

    • ama1977 says:

I’m dying at “and I can climb him like a tree.” 😂😂😂

Seriously, this just brings me delight. I hope it’s the real thing and would love to see a Swift-Kelce wedding, and IDGAF (under ordinary circumstances!) about Taylor Swift or football!

    • Truthiness says:

Absolutely. Lightning has struck and she is seeing a hunky guy who loves all of her and he can still thrive all on his own with his own money and success. He’s a family guy whose heart explodes around his nieces. What’s not to like?

20 bucks says they’re already locked down about their future.

  11. Libra says:

Will not cost much to serve game day snacks to these women who appear to have never had a decent meal. A grape and and an almond?

  12. kirk says:

Love that picture of her holding her girlfriends’ hands and linking arms. Thanks for it.

  13. NaTalia says:

I would do something like this. I think she has found the one. She is trying to be supportive and make friends. The men are in Germany playing football. Why do the girls have to stay in K.C. waiting for their husbands to come home? Why can’t they have a fun weekend in New York? She seems like a lovely hostess that loves to spoil. I know when I have guests I try to spoil and add some luxuries.

She is in it for the long term. Taylor will move to KC. She needs to make friends and have a circle. It is not like Gigi is going to fly down to KC every month to hang out.

I grew up in Kansas City suburbs, actually right by the stadium. Kansas City is fun but it will never be New York fun.
