Kim Kardashian promotes SKIMS’ latest collaboration with Swarovski

This week, Kim Kardashian launched SKIMS’ latest collaboration, a collection with Swarovski. Basically, sparkly underwear, Skims-branded jewelry and ready-to-wear. Some of the pieces are genuinely cute, although I can’t imagine that the crystal-encrusted bras and panties are all that comfortable. Swarovski will also open its new flagship store on Fifth Avenue ahead of Christmas, and the Austrian brand is desperately trying to shake up its image and appeal to Gen Z. Which is where Kim comes in. Something nice is that this collab is very size-inclusive – the pieces are available in sizes XS through 4XL. Some highlights from Kim’s latest interview with Elle:

The collaboration between Swarovski and Skims: “The collaboration was a natural pairing and dream for me, as I’ve always been a Swarovski girl. The Swarovski crystals and the glamour of the brand make me feel so happy, and I hope our customers feel the same way when wearing the collection. Merging jewelry design and ready-to-wear is something I’ve always wanted to do, so pairing Swarovski’s expertise in crystals and jewelry and Skims’ innovative fabrics made total sense.

Her first piece of Swarovski jewelry: “I’ve had Swarovski figurines and crystals my whole life. Whenever I use crystals, they’re always Swarovski. To this day, my kids even get me the Swarovski figurines for Mother’s Day, because they know how much I love the crystals and shine.

How to wear the pieces: I don’t have one favorite piece, because I love the head-to-toe Swarovski x Skims looks that can be created from layering the ready-to-wear that’s covered in hundreds and hundreds of crystals with the intimates and the body jewelry. My favorite from the campaign was when we styled the classic Skims cotton fabric intimates under the sparkly stretch net dress and body jewelry. I love pairing the sportier cotton pieces with the sparkle and extravagance of the dress drenched in crystals with jewelry.

Many have pointed out that Kim’s partners do the heavy lifting on SKIMS and that’s probably true, but I do find it remarkable to watch as Kim has basically flawlessly executed this one thing. She’s the face of the company, she’s the one doing the bulk of the promotion, and I believe that her vision is central to the label. SKIMS has become a juggernaut and this won’t be the last major collab.

Wow, I thought that was Kris Jenner in the lead photo. 😳 Her body looks so cartoonish to me.

    • NotSoSocialB says:

It’s the kardashian ass of lies, aka “Pinocchio Butt” from days of yore.

    • Elisa the I. says:

      Her body looks distorted. O_o
Also, I’m Austrian, and here Swarovski is consider cheap stuff and not good jewellery. Just good marketing. 🙂

    • Mustang Sally says:

Didn’t that cross-legged pose go out years ago? It makes the person posing look like they’re holdimg in a pee. Add peace sign fingers and duck face lips – its like 2016 all over again.

  2. Athyrmose says:

Design and concept stolen from dbleudazzled, one of Swarovski’s partners. So, shame on them too.

    • girl_ninja says:

Yup. I read this yesterday. bdleudazzled got kicked to the curb because of this fraud and her tooth shaped body. I like her less and less with each day, she is like a vampire sucking the life out of true creators. Swarovski should be shamed for this too.

c.1998 I lived and worked in Paris for a while and had a colleague at the hotel I was working in who had worked for Swarovski and was going through some legal dealings because they’d treated her really badly. I’d never heard of the brand at the time being 19 and from a rural part of the UK but her story has stayed with me ever since. She won in the end.

Not too inclusive with 32″ inseams. No clue where she found 5’10” models with such short legs. Everyone wants to look like they have long legs but no one wants to actually produce pants that fit long legs.

    • SarahCS says:

Trouser length is driving me wild this year. I’m just shy of 5’10” with longer legs and everything I order is just way too short. I hate it. To rub it in further my neighbour is the same height as me but that’s more in her torso so she can wear it all!

      • Tila says:

@sarahcs – I don’t know where you are but try Long Tall Sally for trousers, or maybe reiss. I’m 5’10 with long legs and a shorter torso and have been able to find my fit on their sites.

      • blacktoypoodle says:

Banana Republic “Tall” sizing has 36” inseams, if that helps.

    • Sophia says:

I’m “only” 5,7 / 170cms but with a longer leg to torso ratio and I struggle finding nice full length pants, can’t image the struggle of taller women.
Try combining being relatively tall with being thin (small clothes are shorter than big clothes) and it’s pretty hard all over trying to find fashionable pants. I don’t like the 4/5 pant look at all, it looks messy.

  4. Her Again says:

Lol nice wonky eye you got there, Kim. Those dated as eff bangs are doing a very bad job of hiding it.

I’m going to start calling Kim ‘Wonky Eye McSex Tape’

  5. Samab says:

She did such a stupid thing with that ass…She would look mucho Better, much classier without it
