Rebecca Romijn on John Stamos’s book: ‘I was kind of blindsided’

John Stamos’ memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, came out back in October. He showed his ass by sharing some eyebrow-raising stories, including how much he hated his ex-wife Rebecca Romjin after they got divorced, how he started drinking heavily to cope with his jealousy over her flourishing career, and a random, wild story about catching his former girlfriend Teri Copley in bed with none other than Tony Danza. In response to that tale, Copley released a 19-minute video to her YouTube account, denying portions of it, saying, “[John] certainly didn’t come into my house and find me naked in bed. None of that happened. None of that is true.

Well, now it’s Rebecca’s turn to speak out about some of the terrible things that her ex-husband said about her, which also included him dubbing her “the devil” and accusing her of infidelity (I’m sensing a theme here…). Rebecca and her Star Trek: Strange New Worlds costar Anson Mount were chatting with ET’s Deidre Behar at the Critics Choice Awards this past weekend when Behar asked how she felt about Stamos’ book now that there’s been some distance from the headlines around it. Rebecca replied that she was “incredibly shocked” and “sort of blindsided by it.”

Rebecca Romijn is opening up about her ex-husband, John Stamos’, October memoir, If You Would Have Told Me. The 51-year-old actress spoke with ET’s Deidre Behar at the Critics Choice Awards on Sunday, and broke her silence on Stamos’ book, expressing that she was “blindsided” by its content.

“I was very surprised by all of that, incredibly shocked actually,” she admitted to ET. “I was sort of blindsided by it. But you know, I don’t really want to help him sell his books based on those headlines. So that’s all I really want to say about it.”

In the memoir, Stamos accuses Romijn of infidelity, describing the emotional turmoil of betrayal. While promoting the book, Stamos openly spoke about his challenging feelings toward Romijn during their divorce, confessing to Howard Stern that he felt “emasculated” as her career soared while his struggled.

The couple, who tied the knot in 1998 after meeting in 1994, parted ways in 2004. Despite the revelations in Stamos’ memoir, Romijn maintained her silence, until now.

However, Romijn’s husband, Jerry O’Connell, made it clear in November that he had not read Stamos’ memoir and had no plans to do so. Speaking on Andy Cohen’s SiriusXM radio show, he stated, “There was an interest in my household, but it’s so funny, after hearing his interview beginning to end on The Howard Stern Show, any interest of reading the book went away.”

I really cannot believe that Stamos thought he’d get away with writing so many things about the women in his life and that no one would push back at all! I bet Rebecca has a whole lot more to say regarding what John wrote about her, but she’s taking the classy and PR savvy way out by not giving it more oxygen. “I don’t really want to help him sell his books based on those headlines.” LMAO, good for her!

Behar also asked Mount his thoughts about Britney Spears’ autobiography, which came out the same day as Stamos’ did, but he didn’t take the bait! (P.S. How on earth was Crossroads 22 years ago?!) Anyway, John should be leery with what he considers to be fair game in memoirs. I am sure that there are a lot of women out there who could write some things about him in future memoirs that he would not want being out there.

Uncle Jesse is clearly a man child, who does not see the common denominator in his failed relationships is his actions. Good for Rebecca and Jerry for not wasting oxygen.

I agree. He really seemed nice from the little I knew of him before, and after this book that perception took a big hit.

Definite man child behaviour @cheshire sass, Stamos is so messy and has the emotional maturity of a marshmallow. By all accounts Bob Saget was a sweetheart and might have been the good friend to stop Stamos from making an absolute a** of himself with this memoir.

But also…the publisher…how was this book pitched and who did they think was the audience for this??

My aunt met him in California in his heyday- she said he was so kind to her. I roll my eyes at the recollection now.

It seems karma enough that his book came out the same day as Britney’s.

The more I learn of him, the more I think he’s a full on creep.

Happy she hit the jackpot with Jerry O’Connell. Loved him in Sliders. Still miss that show. Let’s talk about Hollywood’s good guys more often.

He was desperate to sell a book which is why he included that detail (true or not) of Teri Copley. There was absolutely no need for it. Nothing to be gained other than…..click bait and headlines which tells us all everything we need to know about Stamos.

He has always seemed smarmy to me.

An actor who can’t handle having a famous or more famous partner? I am SHOCKED.
