An Alaïa-clad Taylor Swift went to dinner at Nobu with Cara & Brittany

Taylor Swift stepped out in New York on Tuesday night, sorry I didn’t post these photos on Wednesday! She was out with Brittany Mahomes and Cara Delevigne, what an odd friend-threesome. While I didn’t see it at the time, apparently Cara joined Taylor at the Chiefs-Bills game on Sunday night, along with Jerrod Carmichael. Is Cara becoming a football fan too or is she just supporting Taylor? In any case, these three ladies had dinner at Nobu. Taylor mixes it up with her New York hotspots – it feels like she doesn’t have one particular favorite dinner place.

Taylor looked pretty good for the most part, although I’ll never understand why a tall woman like Taylor wears chunky/platform heels. Those things are ankle-breakers and my feet hurt just looking at them. Her dress is Alaïa and I like the gold belt and the gold jewelry. It’s a solid look overall. People think she’s making another sartorial reference to Reputation (Taylor’s Version), with all of its dark, serpentine energy. Or maybe she’s just dressing like a New Yorker.

Meanwhile, this clip from Howard Stern’s show went viral this week. Stern was chatting with Stephen A. Smith, the ESPN commentator, and the conversation turned to Taylor and Travis Kelce. Stern says, “First of all, Travis Kelce has to marry Taylor Swift, right? He will then get a movie career. He’ll be bigger than The Rock. I mean, this is it. This is his chance.” Smith disagrees that Travis “has” to marry Taylor for all of that to happen, because Travis was already on that path pre-Taylor. Smith is basically like: Travis is a handsome and wholesome white boy, he can have any career he wants. Which is true. Smith then went off about how much he loves Taylor.

Kaiser I used to wear super high heels when I worked in corporate America and it ruined my feet. Now if I wear heels they are chunky boots or platforms because they are actually leaps and bounds more comfortable than a traditional heel. I suspect this is why Taylor wears them too. You get the look and feel of a heel without the pain. They look uncomfortable but they really aren’t because the arch and balls of your foot don’t have as much pressure on them.

    • Changing my name because I can says:

      @Ameerah
      Absolutely this!

    • Cecil says:

Yeah, the heel wearers amongst us know that platforms with a chunky heel are the most comfortable type of heel, and a good way to get height without actually putting your ankles at risk. It’s thin little heels and zero platform that are the real killer!

  2. Tisme says:

Those chunky boots popped right out of the 90s.

    • Megan says:

To quote Dolly Parton, it costs a lot to look that cheap.

    • Lolo86lf says:

Thank God Travis is 6’5″ so Taylor can wear platforms shoes as high as she wants.

      • SarahLee says:

Lolo, how about “Thank God Taylor is free to wear platform shoes as high as she wants.” Nothing to do with Travis. Her choice as an independent woman.

      • Ellie says:

Really irks me when people tell tall women not to wear high heels. Or that they can only do so if their boyfriend is super tall. Not our problem you can’t handle a giant goddess in six inch platforms 🤷🏼‍♀️

      • Lolo86lf says:

Of course Taylor is free to don shoes as high as she wants. Come to think of it, maybe that’s one of the reasons she chose Travis because he is so tall and she really will feel free to wear platform shoes. Honestly though, very few men will feel comfortable dating a woman taller than him in heels. They can’t help it.

    • Veronica S. says:

The platforms are back in with the big designers. Versace and Valentino had sky high collections last year. I’m glad to see a few sneak back in. I prefer a simpler heel most of the time, but chunky platforms bring a lot of whimsical fun to a style sometimes. I’ve got some chunk Tory Burch boots that are fun to walk around town in.

    It’s an Alaia!
    An a whatta?
An Alaia. It’s like a totally important designer!

  4. Becks1 says:

this is better than that green velvet thing from a few weeks ago, not as good as the Row dress from…..last week?

and lol at Kelce….I literally just said that to a friend of mine at work…..dating Taylor Swift has been the best thing for Kelce’s post NFL prospects. He was famous before, he was a Superbowl winning well known tight end, Mama Kelce was a big focus at the SB last year…….but this has definitely elevated his status. I dont know if this means he’s going to be a movie star, LOL, but I definitely think he’s got a lot of companies banging on his door begging for him to be in their commercials, and he wasn’t really hurting for that before.

  5. Mimi says:

I’m sure he’ll get cast as a superhero soon in some ensemble movie. He’s fit and cute. I can dig it.

    • Lolo86lf says:

Maybe he should learn to speak with an English accent and become the next James Bond! With his debonair good looks he would be a very sexy agent 007.

      • Lucy says:

I don’t think he can do a British accent if his life depended on it 😂. One of the SNL skits he was in he was supposed to do a British accent and he did an Australian one instead. He knows his range and lane, I think he’ll do Ted lasso type stuff.

  6. Kitten says:

Travis is cute and talented with a lot of Regular Nice Guy energy. I don’t think he’s with Taylor to advance his career, though. He DOES seem really comfortable with the spotlight but I just don’t get succubus vibes from him at all.

Taylor’s outfit is ok. It’s very 90s which is all the rage right now so eh…

    • bettyrose says:

I really don’t have any take on Travis, but something about this does seems like they’re just well suited to each other. Anyone in Tay’s orbit is gonna need to exist in the spotlight, so even better if it’s someone who basks in it. It also seems like they’re both comfortable going against the grain as far as more right-leaning fans. Tay started out in country. He’s a football player. Both seems comfortable being vocal about more left-leaning positions, so maybe this really is just a great match.

      • Smalltowngirl says:

Pat McAfee (who is a friend of Travis’s) had a good take on this this week and pointed out they are just both in the right stage of their lives for a serious relationship. They are both 34, they are at the top of their respective careers and the stars seemed to align for them. I think Travis enjoys the attention and the spotlight, but I also think the relationship is real. I think it is just two people, looking for the same things and meeting at the right moment.

  7. L4Frimaire says:

She looks great. Love her outfit, especially the boots. Love a good platform shape. The original Alaïa ( RIP) was truly a genius who never got his full due.

  8. Jais says:

So, you never know what life is really like behind the scenes. But man, Taylor’s life looks like a lot of fun. Football games, dressing up cute and going to nice dinners. Sign me up, for real. She’ll be back to touring soon, which is a lot of work, but still, her life is just looking hella fun in this moment.

    • Lisa says:

Yeah I would agree but then you read about the stalker they have arrested 5 times in a week outside her house in New York and the death threats she was getting from Bills fans and it sounds slightly less fun.

But the parts she highlights look amazing and I’d love.

  9. Louisa says:

I don’t watch or know anything about football, so this may seem a silly question but with the suites that she sits in a invites friends to… are the families of all the players also in that suite? Does each player have their own suite? I just ask as Travis seems to have a whole bunch full of people at his games so where do the families of the other players go?

    • bitsycs says:

Players buy the suites for their use and then the tickets are theirs to distribute usually. For KC home games, he prob has that suite for the season. For away games it depends on availability but it seems like one is always available. Plus if you pay the season ticket price you can always sell your tickets to someone. Plenty of rich people have season suites and don’t use them. For the playoffs I’d guess there’s access first for season ticket holders (which in KC, Travis is).

Anyway the suite is an individual choice that a player opts to pay for. Joe Burrow does a season long suite ticket purchase but this year he was injured. He gave his backup access to the suite for his friends/family and his backup was saying how that’s not something he (the backup) does at the beginning of the season due to cost and the fact that he’s a backup so there’s not much demand from his family/friends to come to games.

      • Becks1 says:

@bitsycs DONT MAKE ME LIKE JOE BURROW! that was really nice of him though. (Its just the baltimorean in me that doesn’t like him, nothing personal, lol.)

Does he split the suit with Mahomes? Because Taylor and Brittany are always in the same suite, right?

      • Lisa says:

Thank you ! I didn’t know that and was curious too

      • Louisa says:

Thank you. That makes sense. I wondered if maybe it was just the “star” players that were given the suites but didn’t know they had to pay for them.

      • backyardmogul says:

@Becks1 I’m curious about Brittany too… she seems to show up mainly in the second half. I did read somewhere recently that she likes to hang out with Taylor because the other wags found Brittany’s celebrations too over the top. So she can be herself with Taylor and not feel judged or whatever.

    • Becks1 says:

I have an update on this. Taylor bought a suite for the ravens game on Sunday, she apparently paid enough that the person she bought it from said it covered the cost for the next two years.

My husband is going to the game and he says it’s the closest he’ll get to a Taylor Swift concert 🤣🤣

    • Smalltowngirl says:

Travis and Pat Mahomes each have their own suite. It is apparently part of their contracts. Taylor has been in the Mahomes box but generally watches from Travis’s. Travis has a large tight knit circle that comes in for games.

For the Buffalo game, they rented a suite and the Mahomes and Kelce families and some friends were all there together.

  10. Lisa says:

Why can’t a tall woman wear heels? I am tall and I love heels? Also a platform is on trend this look is incredibly on trend, and the platform makes her foot flat so it is more comfortable and less arched.

Also while I loathe to agree with SAS because you know it’s hard to agree with someone who blames women for being victims of domestic violence, but he is right Travis doesn’t need Taylor. He is incredibly charming, handsome and funny at minimum he would have had a Michael Strahan career post football. Now do I think Taylor launched him to another level yep I do, but I also think he is with her because he likes her and they have fun together and not for any career advancement.

  11. bettyrose says:

I wore shoes like that in my late 20s/early 30s, but I’m short. I think I would have cared about style much longer if not for the pandemic, but now I dress for comfort. I still wear docs but not platforms. Welp, off to put on jeans and a tee and head to my home office.
ETA: Tall women should wear what ever TF they want, just as all women should. Only pointing out that I’m short because I wore chunky heels with every outfit to elevate a bit.

    • delphi says:

I am 5 foot 2 on a good day, and I remember wearing shoes insanely similar to these when I was in in high school/early university. But not designer. I am pretty sure mine came from Dillards or Shoe Carnival, lol.

Alas, my old lady feet no longer permit me to wear heels of ANY kind, so tall, short, woman, man…ROCK those chunky heels. I miss them so much and hope the next generation’s plantar fascia fare better than mine.

Also…damn it, I am enjoying this pairing. I have a massive soft spot for the Kelce brothers. I love seeing Cleveland natives make it out there in the world, especially when they are as funny and charming as these guys seem to be. Travis is like all of my male cousins rolled into one, and I am here for this era. I also seem to be developing a soft spot for Taylor as the years go by.

  12. Normades says:

Her shoe choice doesn’t bother me as much as my opinion that she usually doesn’t pair them very well with what she’s wearing.
She would look super cute in a pair of flat Mary Janes which are super popular at the moment.

  13. QuiteContrary says:

She looks great. I have to laugh at Baltimore rolling out the red carpet for her … I saw a very adorable video of senior citizens at a Baltimore nursing home offering advice for what she should see while she’s in town (it was smart marketing on the part of the facility, but also genuinely sweet).

And as I’ve been saying, Travis has been on an upward trajectory for years — he and his brother Jason will have their pick of opportunities when their football careers are over (Jason is going to be a great football commentator, if he wants to be).

    • Becks1 says:

People are photoshopping her all over Baltimore, its hilarious. My guess is if she comes she’ll fly down Sunday morning and go back to NYC or KC that night. If she’s just in NYC now I can’t see her coming down days ahead of time.

  14. MinnieMouse says:

I don’t know if this is standard practice anymore, but at least in the 90s there was apparently an age (I think around 2.5 years?) where the doctor would measure you and double your height and that was supposed to be how tall you were when you were grown. I was an absolutely enormous baby and toddler, and it was predicted I would be 6 feet tall. There are tall uncles on my mom’s side of the family, so we all accepted it and I grew up expecting to be this glorious Amazon. I fully intended to wear nothing but high heels and shorts/short skirts and have legs for days and only date basketball players. I was NOT going to be a tall woman who slouched, I was so excited.

Then at about age 12 I stopped growing and have remained completely normal-sized (and short-legged) ever since. Still not over it.

All of which is to say: support tall women wearing tall shoes if they darn well want to. Support the fact that she is owning her height instead of trying to shrink for other people. What the heck.

(Also, the woman professionally dances and runs around in high heels and stompy boots for hours at a time. Those ankles are industrial-strength.)

  15. Eden75 says:

I am not usually a fan of anything Taylor wears, her styling always seems slightly off to me, but wear the heels lady! No matter your height, wear them!

I am a shortie (5’2″) and you will pry my heels off my cold, dead feet (which I told the pediatrist when he said my heels were one of my main problems) and I love when all of my girlfriends rock them! I have a lot of very tall friends, in the 5′ 10″ to 6′ 1″ range, and I encourage them to wear heels anytime we go anywhere. They look so lovely and statuesque. I don’t care if I look really wee in the midst of them, they are amazing. Also, I have more than enough shoes to go around and most of us have the same sized feet, so I can share 🙂
