Travis Kelce: ‘I’m the happiest I’ve ever been… my glass is all the way full’

Travis Kelce did a promotional blitz yesterday, because nearly every entertainment outlet has new interviews with him. He’s promoting his second annual Kelce Jam music festival in Kansas City, and this year’s Kelce Jam will feature performances by Lil Wayne, Diplo and 2 Chainz. Wait, Diplo?? Does Travis know that Taylor Swift and Diplo have significant beef? Or did they quash the beef? I can’t keep up. Anyway, the story coming out of Travis’s interviews is that he’s really happy right now. Happy with life, happy with his multi-hyphenate career, happy with Taylor Swift.

Travis Kelce is living his best life. Fresh off of his third Super Bowl win, Kelce, 34, tells PEOPLE, “I’m the happiest I’ve ever been. I’m a guy that some people say is glass half full, half empty, and my glass is all the way full. It’s all the way full.”

“I’m oozing life right now,” adds Kelce, who recently got back from a vacation to the Bahamas with girlfriend Taylor Swift. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end says he’s been enjoying all the opportunities that come his way after his third championship in five years.

“It’s just so much fun getting into when you win the Super Bowl, all these doors open, and so I’ve just been going through all these open doors, experiencing life and just appreciating the people that have got me here and also staying high and meeting new faces.”

Soon enough, Kelce will begin preparing for a new NFL season, but right now he’s got a lot more in the works outside of the football field. On May 18, Kelce will host his second annual Kelce Jam music festival in Kansas City with performances from Lil Wayne, Diplo and 2 Chainz. What’s more, production is set to begin this summer on a documentary he’s co-producing about late artist Jean-Michel Basquait, called King Pleasure. And in early 2025, Kelce and his teammate Patrick Mahomes will open a steakhouse in Kansas City called 1587 Prime — a nod to their combined jersey numbers. But Kelce says he prefers to stay busy, especially as he ventures deeper into the entertainment industry.

“It doesn’t feel like there’s much chill in my life. Everything seems to be full throttle and just moving at the speed of light, and that’s how I kind of like it. I like it to be up pace. I like to have just exciting things going on. And sure enough, I’m out here in the entertainment world trying to dabble into that before I get back locked in on football and knowing that that’s going to be my focus until I’m done playing. But to dabble around in the entertainment space is something that I’m really interested in.”

While Travis presents as a happy-go-lucky golden-retriever boyfriend, it’s been clear for a while that he’s using his relationship with Taylor to expand his sponsorship-portfolio and expand his business ventures. He’s 34 years old – he likely only has a few more years as a professional football player. Travis and his management team have been incredibly strategic with their brand-building.

Travis also confirmed, to ET, that he’ll be heading to Europe for Taylor’s Eras Tour dates. He looks really cute here – like he just went to his barber.

“I’ve just never been this happy in my life in all aspects of my life… it’s not just the tour… my life finally feels like it makes sense…” lol.

  2. Koots says:

I agree. Each business move he’s done this off season has been a continuation of things he started last year, Kelcejam, New Heights live show, etc. If he was doing a bunch of brand new stuff I would side eye it a lot more.

Friends from Cleveland Heights who know this family well say that Travis has the real deal with Taylor. He is amazed by Taylor and her work ethic and that they understand each other – they have their own careers and unlike Taylor’s other boyfriends, Travis doesn’t mind the spotlight. He doesn’t need it but it doesn’t bother him. On the other hand, she worries that rubber will hit the road if they are still together when he retires. When suddenly he doesn’t have the same level of day to day notoriety. I think he’ll seamlessly slot into a broadcast role, but that’s not the same as being a football star.

    • Eva says:

      Their breakup will be spectacular.

      • SarahLee says:

It might be a double album! I hope not, though. I admittedly have a soft spot for Taylor and my friends think the world of the Kelce family.

      • AlpineWitch says:

        Nuclear, even! 🤣
I like them together though so here’s hoping they last a little longer.

    • windyriver says:

He’s always going to have a level of notoriety if he continues to be with Taylor. I’d be more concerned about how he’s going to feel giving up the game. That was one of the sticking points for Jason in retiring, he loved playing, loved the team atmosphere. And of course there’s the Tom Brady’s example…

And what about Taylor? She’s 34. How long is she planning/hoping to continue these massive tours, and at what point will the physical toll it takes be less worth it? How much more famous can she be? Does she plan to ever have a (private) family life? Seems like they’re both at the age, and stage of life, where they have serious choices to make about the future. That’ll likely involve some compromises on both their parts – but lucky for both of them, there’s still good career options ahead even if they decide to dial things back a bit.

    • Josephine says:

He wants waaaaaay more than a broadcasting role. He’s looking to be the next Rock.

  4. MaryContrary says:

He hosted SNL before he ever dated her-plus he had that reality dating show years ago-“dipping” into the entertainment space was pre-her. He’s definitely striking why the iron is hot so good for him. He’s a young guy with a lot of post football years ahead.

    • Truthiness says:

💯 and Travis is doing the same things off season that he did last year before he met Taylor. A bit less because of the vacations, it’s just more eyeballs are on him day to day.

  5. Mimi says:

That he’s so effusive lends credence to the engagement rumors. Good for him. You only live once.

  6. GoodWitchGlenda says:

As they say, all things can be true. He can be legitimately in love with Taylor, while also realizing that his profile is raised and he would be a fool to not take advantage.

  7. Rai says:

I just find him absolutely adorable. I also appreciate that he can embrace the crazy. I wish nothing but the best for both of them.

    • mealsonwheels says:

Me too, I’m sure Tay realizes what a catch he is. Love a guy with his heart on his sleeve and a twinkle in his eye!

    • wildwaffles says:

Same! They are adorable together and I wish them well.

  8. Cessily says:

Have to be hopeful for any one who can navigate a relationship in a spotlight like they have aimed at their every move. I wish them the best and hope they defy the odds.

  9. SH says:

While conventional wisdom maybe that she needs to find someone who isn’t trying to use her that hasn’t really worked. It appears that Travis and his whole family immediately and tangibly financially benefiting from association with Taylor may actually be a good thing. It is a lot harder to complain about the negative aspects of Taylor’s fame level impacting you when you are also visibly profiting off of that fame. Podcast downloads are undeniable where credit or blame for things like a movie’s box office performance is more nebulous and agents and managers like to point the finger at client’s famous girlfriends, rather than themselves or their own clients not being compelling when a movie fails to be successful.

    • JulesB says:

I’ve had similar thoughts since the beginning of this relationship. To be with Taylor Swift means living your life in the fishbowl of fame . This relationship works because Travis seems to be OK with the spotlight. Prior to dating Taylor he was making moves to have a post football career in the entertainment industry. Travis doesn’t run away from the spotlight, he seems comfortable with himself and able to always give Taylor her flowers. He is quick to praise Taylor and understands this spotlight is a direct result of her and their relationship. So far it seems to work. I never paid much attention to Joe or their relationship but it always appeared that he was uncomfortable with the fame aspect of being with Taylor Swift. Travis doesn’t appear to have the same discomfort which seems to work for them as a couple.

      • NitSoSocialB says:

I think this is essentially it- their lives seem to intertwine perfectly comfortably. As is there is little effort required, and what a joy that can be

    • Fortuona says:

Kelce the documentary made Kylie a stand out which was made the best part of 2 years ago , she who was on Today this week and was being lauded by Hoda and Bush III for herself and her part in Eagles Against Autism campaign which is ran by the Eagles owner .All of this was pre Taylor

Mama was a great hook during the Super Bowl 2023 with a ton of ads since then and all of these things were prior to Taylor

Travis and Jason have done ads which were filmed a year ago , their pocast was selling out arenas for the live episodes . This year they are filming the live episode at Nippert Stadium where they both played for the Bearcats , Jason is in talks to have a job on Network TV for next season . He flew back to LA with them

Travis had gone into film production ( April 23 ) before Taylor and is wearing the cap of the F1 team he owns with the husband of her bff ( June 23 ) , but all that had already happened before he and Taylor got together

I feel sometimes reading the press that we’re waiting for it to fail, which makes me a bit sad because it kinda reinforces the idea that women can’t be highly successful and also have a decent dude. Not one thing has Travis said or done which questions his respect and love for Taylor. Sure, he’s making the most of his heightened profile but can’t really blame him… I think they’re both at an age in their lives where it does have potential to go the full mile…. That being said it’s a celebrity relationship so you never really know the truth.

  11. Isabella says:

The Jean-Michel Basquait documtary is impressive. Good for him.

    • ChristineM65 says:

Agreed @Isabella that was the most impressive item in this list but I’m a huge Basquiat fan, as is my college aged son!! We went to the King Pleasure exhibit last spring in LA and it’s so worth the time and effort to go if you can!

  12. DianaTheArcher says:

It’s undeniable that “Taylor’s Brand” has made a long-term investment in branding her as a quiet member of the queer community.

Over the years they’ve made thousands of explicit visual and verbal references meant to be picked up by the in-group. For lesbians in hollywood, historically this has been called “hairpinning.”

This branding pattern is different than someone alleging a celeb as closeted.

Beyond Taylor’s Hairpinning Brand Decision, she’s also got a lot of queer rumors and that video of kissing a woman on a concert balcony.

IMO both Travis & Taylor are at least bi (if not fully gay). Travis has long been rumored to be in a romantic relationship with Aric Jones.

I think they’re probably testing out a long-term Lavender relationship or at least open relationship that’s publicly hetero but privately bisexual.
