Aaron Taylor Johnson supported his wife at the premiere of the Amy Winehouse bio-pic

For weeks, people have been horrified by the first clips and trailers from Back to Black, the Amy Winehouse bio-pic. Before this week, I had no idea that the film was directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, also known as Aaron Taylor Johnson’s much-older wife. Sam and Aaron actually met when she directed him in Nowhere Boy, when Aaron was only 18 years old. That’s when they got together as well. So, she’s doing another musical bio-pic… and this one looks completely tragic.

Marisa Abela stars as Amy Winehouse, Jack O’Connell plays Blake Fielder-Civil and Eddie Marsan plays Mitch Winehouse. I can’t believe Jack signed up for this – I think a lot of Jack’s acting talent and I can understand why playing Blake would be a unique acting challenge, but this sh-t looks awful. Oh God, Leslie Manville is in it too! She plays Amy’s mother.

Anyway, here are some photos from the premiere. Aaron Taylor Johnson came out to support his wife and everybody looked terrible. I’m also including a trailer and a clip. Please don’t make me write about this, this looks so offensive.

Kudos to whoever cut the trailer. They managed to make it feel much less awkward than the actual clip. (The clip is so bad.)

That Zoolander pose is not it.

WTF is this…?! Amy is clawing her way out of the grave as we speak. 😬

I don’t know why this movie is being made and I’m baffled at the casting. I don’t know much about Marisa Abela, but this role really doesn’t seem to suit her. Not her fault or anything but again, who asked for this movie?

    The trailer doesn’t look bad.

It’s like they’ve watched Bohemian Rhapsody and thought “how can we make this but worse ?”.
Also STJ did an interview with The Guardian and she had questions about ATJ and all of her answers were cringe. She again tried to pull the “HE pursued ME” line which is still very much gross.

I can understand the young man older woman. Because both of them were probably at their sexual peaks when they met. And I can get a young actor wanting to be around and talk to an older director about acting. I just don’t get it continuing for this long. But maybe he’s just one of those people. Because he’s gotten so much flack from the relationship. He’s just stubbornly not going to leave her now. Just to show everyone up.

Leslie Manville is a National Treasure. How and why in the world she is in this mess of a movie is beyond me?
I have so much secondhand embarrassment just from the trailer.
