Travis Kelce named the host of a new game show, ‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?’

Throughout Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift’s not-even-one-year-long relationship, I still believe one of the most important pieces of media about TNT was Travis’s WSJ. Magazine cover interview. That really was a portrait of a man on fire, the jock who assembled an excellent management and business team around him. Team Trav was looking for ways to grow and expand Brand Kelce. Was Taylor Swift part of that? Travis definitely adores Taylor, but there is also a strategic side to all of this as well. Travis has absolutely parlayed his relationship with Taylor into bigger and better side gigs. Speaking of, Travis was just named the host of a game show off-shoot of Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? The new show is Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity? This has been in the works for months.

Travis Kelce‘s next gig: game show host. The Kansas City Chiefs tight end has booked his first TV series job and it’s hosting a spinoff of the Fox game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader? for Amazon‘s Prime Video. The new show is titled Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, and it will have adult contestants answering sixth-grade level questions with the help of some famous faces. Amazon has ordered 20 episodes of the show hosted by the Super Bowl champ.

“I grew up loving game shows, and I’m excited to be following in the footsteps of so many TV icons by hosting my very first one with Are you Smarter Than a Celebrity,” Kelce said. “The original show is a great success, so to be bringing a new format with everyone’s favorite celebrities to the screen, will definitely be entertaining. I’m just happy to be on the hosting side of the equation here and excited to see how these famous faces keep up.”

“For years, fans around the world have tested their smarts with this fun, nostalgic game show, and we look forward to bring this reimagined format to Prime Video,” says Lauren Anderson, head of AVOD originals unscripted and targeted programming, Amazon MGM Studios. “Travis has proven to be an incredible talent on and off the field, and we appreciate the trust he has placed in us with his first foray into television. His natural, comedic dynamic with our panelists and guests, coupled with some exciting new twists, will keep our global customers coming back week after week.”

In the show, an adult contestant “will rely on a classroom full of celebrities from stage, screen and sports to help them answer 11 questions on a range of subjects, pulled from elementary curriculum, in an effort to win a $100,000 prize. They are not competing against the stars, they’re enlisting their help and, in some cases, can even ‘cheat’ off of them. And on the final question, worth $100,000, the contestant selects one celebrity to discuss the answer with before locking in. The final question is always at the 6th-grade level.”

The most insane part of this is that the show is being rebooted on Prime and not network television. How did ABC or NBC not want a piece of this? The hottest football star, dating the biggest pop star in the world, doing a cutesy game show? How is Ellen DeGeneres not involved? Anyway, these kinds of shows are a relative breeze to film – Prime could easily knock out a whole “season” of episodes in a week or two, which is what I’m sure they’ll do this summer. Travis has a new gig, y’all. How long before he gets a major clothing brand ambassadorship?

After he liked a friends post about Trump (in some way, I can’t remember now) I’m side eying him. Well, that and his temper.

They make a great idea of a couple, but fairytales aren’t real. I hope he turns out to be as decent as his image tries to tell us he is.

You’re right, he shouldn’t have liked the post, I also have a Trump litmus test. But it’s not that simple. The post was not about Trump. Sage Steele is an ESPN anchor who Travis is friendly with and she finally got to attend a UFC event in person when she’d been covering it for years. She was thanking Dana White (head of UFC) for the opportunity. I guess Trump was there so she used a photo with Trump, I can’t stand her politics.

This is about Travis always networking with ESPN and its anchors because he’s trying to have a career after football, he follows all the anchors. Sports is what he’s good at. I’ve seen Travis leave the locker room at halftime to check in with EVERYBODY on the ESPN halftime show?! Athletes don’t do that in their own games. I can hate Sage Steele’s politics and see Travis hustling for his 2nd act, no matter the politics. I’m sure the NFL has tons of MAGA, they got ballistic about kneeling (Travis kneeled from early on but doesn’t deserve a medal for it). Pretty sure the dude who owns the Chiefs is Republican. Jeez, sorry for the book post.

Good for him for building a career post-football. Is anyone else reaching the Kelce saturation point though?

This show seems like the real world adaptation BoJack Horseman’s “Hollywoo Stars and Celebrities? What Do They Know? Do They Know Things? Let’s Find Out!” and for that reason I think Travis is the perfect host as his personality is very Mr. Peanutbutter (minus the urge to date younger, thank god).

I kind of think they are both in it for the long haul here, but hoo boy, if they do split up the narrative after is going to be insane.

Seeing the Swifties completely change their opinion on Joe Alwyn and rewrite history regarding their opinions of him is why I feel this way. He went from the shy, supportive king they stan to he locked Taylor in a dungeon for 6 years and stole her life away. It’s so wild to me.

Also, they are editing some videos of Joe and Taylor with AI to prove that he was abusive. I am sure Joe doesn’t want to disturb his peace, but some of the comments and posts on social media are straight criminal. They literally want their idol to be an abused woman, so they can use her victimness to attack a man they don’t know. It was so smart of him to give nothing to the public to be used against him. I am sure he wasn’t doing it for this purpose, but him being an introvert means they have a lot less material to twist against him.

If Taylor breaks up with Travis, he is dead man on the water. Swifties have truckload of materials to use in a made-up storyline.

I didn’t realize that, how horrible. I hope he has a really solid family and friend group around him, or that he has a great sense of humor to cope.

I personally enjoy how instead of speaking one word about their relationship he posts about Gaza and Palestine.

This actually already filmed over the last two weeks

got to say, really getting sick of these two, can they go away for awhile?

    • KC says:

It really isn’t that hard to avoid news about either of them. I’ve managed to do it for years. The only reason I know anything about Taylor Swift is because I chose to start reading news about her when she started dating Travis Kelce. Just don’t click on stories about them. I give my brother the same advice. He’s been a KC sports fan all of his 58 years and complains about too much Travis and Taylor news while he sends me news clips about them. I didn’t even know they were dating until my brother sent me stories about them.

  7. Moonstone says:

I think he’s extremely strategic and his team have capitalised on the “cute Swifty himbo” vibe extremely well. I don’t doubt that he genuinely likes Taylor but I also think he’s smart enough to see it as a real career-booster.
