The last time I wrote about the Brooke Mueller-Charlie Sheen marriage/abuse/enabling/stupidity/clusterf-ck, CB and I ended up getting into a slightly heated discussion about abused women and how best to approach the subject of an abused woman making a horrendous mistake. CB thought I was being insensitive when I described Brooke Mueller’s actions as “dumb,” post-Christmas-Day-abuse. While I could see CB’s point (that I’m a bitch, and I sometimes go overboard), I still think that we as a society shouldn’t pussyfoot around pretending that it’s a smart idea to get back with an abusive partner. The motto for every abused woman should be “Hit me once, and there won’t be a second time because I’m leaving and making your life a living hell.”
CB pointed out that Charlie Sheen could be holding stuff over Brooke’s head, forcing her to reconcile or else. Charlie’s media team began releasing damning and unflattering information about Brooke almost immediately after the incident, so I think the chances are pretty good that Charlie is actually attempting to emotionally, financially and publicly blackmail Brooke into staying with him. But, while I’ll believe that could be one factor in Brooke and Charlie’s reconciliation, I truly think Brooke wants to be married to Charlie, even after the abuse.
Okay, all of that was a precursor to this new report from Radar. Apparently, Radar just got the scoop that Brooke went to rehab… while she was pregnant with twins Max and Bob. So… we’re going with the idea that Brooke is a raging alcoholic:
Charlie Sheen’s wife went to rehab for alcohol abuse while she was pregnant with the couple’s twins, RadarOnline.com has learned exclusively.
The blockbuster revelation adds more controversy to the already volatile situation surrounding the Sheen marriage. Charlie spent Christmas in a Colorado jail after being arrested on domestic violence charges.
Both Sheen and Mueller had been drinking that night. Sheen, who has been through rehab twice, has not publicly addressed his relapse.
Now RadarOnline.com has uncovered that Mueller went to alcohol rehab when she was approximately five months pregnant. Sources close to the situation told RadarOnline.com that she was confronted after bottles of booze were found in her car.
When one of the couple’s twins was born with a heart problem, the couple argued bitterly and Charlie told Brooke the medical problem was her fault for boozing while pregnant, RadarOnline.com has learned.
“They both have drinking problems,” said a source close to the situation. “And neither of them should be drinking.”
Mueller has been arrested twice previously, once on an alcohol charge and the other time on a cocaine charge.
Sheen and Mueller both had “sober minders” with them on Christmas, and both consumed alcohol before their physical altercation. Mueller told cops that Sheen held a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her.
She’s hired Yale Galanter and Team Sheen is desperate for her to soften her story about what happened on Christmas to help Charlie avoid a prison sentence. Publicly, lawyers are saying the couple wants to work on the marriage, but privately, as RadarOnline.com was first to report, Mueller has already met with a divorce attorney and wants a better prenuptial deal.
“The marriage has been bad since the beginning,” said one source who knows both Charlie and Brooke. “It was just a matter of time before it exploded publicly.”

I think Charlie’s media strategy at this point is to just throw everything they can at Brooke and try to make her look as bad as Charlie. That being said, needing to go to rehab while you’re pregnant is pretty rough. That means Brooke was probably drinking through her first trimester, which is the worst trimester to have even one drink. I had to look up Fetal Alcohol Syndrome to see if there was a correlation between alcohol consumption while pregnant and heart defects, but I don’t think there is one. The biggest problems with FAS is for the brain’s development, not the heart. Although… I’m sure her drinking didn’t help matters. Ugh… all of this is so depressing.

They are co-dependents with lots of blackmail material between them. I shouldn’t say this, but possibly they deserve each other, in some twisted way, so they want to stay together. Don’t blame me, but there are other couples like this. If they get divorced, Charlie will move on to another crazy woman who tolerates his bad behavior. There’s a pattern.
Yeah, there’s a lot of “who would marry Charlie Sheen” out there–but who Charlie marries is also part of the pattern.

I was shocked to read on here the other day, someone had said “They owe it to their two children to work this out” Actually, IMO, they owe it to their children to let some responsible, non-violent, non-addicted ADULTS raise their children until they BOTH can get help and show that they are decent, stable individuals.
Amazing how Charlie and Brooke have made Denise look like a saint in recent weeks. Now I kind of think Denise must have gone through hell with that man!

I’m expecting Gloria Allred to convene a press conference to refute ‘these nasty rumors’ and to call out Mr. Sheen on his own shit. *Eyeroll*

I can’t imagine her pregnancy was an accident, either. She’s an adult–if she knew she had an uncontrollable drinking problem, it was her responsibilty to prevent pregnancy until that problem was under control. Period. If this story is true, she is as disgusting as Rebecca “Smokes with a Bump” Gayheart. This makes me sad for all the responsible, loving women who struggle to concieve.

Because of Charlie’s past history, I always believed Denise, especially with the obvious efforts displayed by his PR people and his buy-my-lies interviews. The man shouldn’t be married or have a long-term (more than one evening) girlfriend.
At least he is providing work for PR-types and supplying trash for the tabloids. He is helping the economy.
Denise Richards now looks like a good mother and a strong woman for getting out and fighting such a bitter custody battle against Charlie…how the hell did THAT happen?
I feel a tiny twinge of guilt for how low my opinion of her was during her divorce…it certainly looks as though Denise was telling the truth about Charlie’s addictions, womanizing, and violence.
The Estivezes are garbage. Uncle Joe Estivez who admits he’s never met Brooke is trashing her and saying Charlie’s a saint.
Charlie’s PR i stupid throwing all this out there like it’s supposed to detract from the fact that he held a knife to her throat? Yahhh I don’t think so, Bud.
Child Protection Services deemed her fit and told him he has to take a hike for a month. I’m thinking it doesn’t matter what he does at this point, everything roasts his own ass.
I love Two and a Half Men, I used to like Charlie, but he is really ruining his career and life. Now I think he is just a jerk. In the end it will be all his children who suffer from his legacy. No wonder they didn’t want him back for Wall Street 2. And Brooke, is a waste, she just wants money.
Ultimately if you are willing to marry well-known misogynist, drug abuser, prostitute user, and all around creep Charlie Sheen, then it’s safe to assume you are far from perfect.
Hence, Brooke Mueller has skeletons in her closet.
Whatever – honestly I think Charlie & his team are leaking this and other negative stories about Brooke because he wants to look more sympathetic. Unfortunately for him, these moves are transparent, and only serve to make both parties look even more crazy. Charlie, why would you and Brooke spend the time in fertility clinics to ensure she became pregnant with boys if you knew she was a raging abusive alcoholic? Maybe she isn’t a drunk, or maybe you were too strung out to realize what was going on.

It is entirely possible that one of the kids will be diagnosed with FAS later on- like when it is failing in school or developmentally slow, like my stepsister. She looks fine, but she will live in group homes all of her life, at best

I hear what Kaiser is saying about not making excuses for women who stay in abusive relationships. On the other hand, when I asked her to go easy on Brooke I had just read through Denise Richards’ entire divorce declaration. The guy threatened to kill Denise multiple times, and he told her he’d hire someone to do it. From the details on TMZ, he did the same thing to Brooke and even held her down with a knife to her throat. Now that his PR people are going for the jugular at the same time that he’s probably telling her he’ll hire someone to kill her – and maybe make it look like an accident – I can see why she would back down and agree to stay initially, at least to the press.

I would have been pissed too. Hurting a woman is bad. Hurting an unborn baby that you chose to let grow in your belly is beyong bad. It’s stupid, irresponsable, insensitive and mean.
CB I can see your point as far as the media is concerned…
But if she has not taken immediate steps to restrain a man who held a knife to her throat then yes, it’s partly her fault if he kills her. (if she stays)
Blame the victim, you say? If the victim knows that she WILL BE a victim if she stays, and quite possibly her freshly born children can become victims as well… Then yes, when he takes a hot knife to one of his own children (to show her) while she’s a screaming drunk in the other room…she is not blameless.

Anything that could/would happen to Brooke now would immediately point the finger at Charlie – it’s great that Brooke spoke up and that Denise’s deposition would back it up as well; he shouldn’t make threats that’ll bounce back on him. He’s completely creepy – (except for that one part in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off where he was creepy but it was funny!)

In all seriousness, if you’re in an abusive relationship and you choose to stay, that’s one thing but to have kids and stick around – unforgiveable and idiotic. The kids should be taken away from them but who would get them – other crazed, abusive relatives? I read somewhere that Martin Sheen was a totally abusive, substance abusing wack job like Charlie until he freaked out on the set of Apololypse Now and had some kind of rehabilitating meltdown. It’s learned behavior.
CB – I agree Charlie is definitely messed up and nobody deserves to be threatened and abused… But Brooke definitely has skeletons. I’m sure she and Charlie have a lot of dirt on each other.
One thing is for sure, this divorce will play itself out in the press much like Charlie’s divorce from Denise, with each party sinking lower and lower trying to win in the court of public opinion. Except, that plan inevitably backfires and they both look terrible.
Denise has grown on me. I was 100% sure she was white trash during the Charlie Sheen divorce drama. But aside from the Richie Sambora drama, I think she has stayed out of the press and is focusing on her girls and really trying to be a good mom. Plus, I saw her show and think her dad is just the nicest man ever.
@ CB & Kaiser: here’s some food for thought–my mother married her second husband when I was 2; he was a raging alcoholic who abused her, broke her bones, denied her (and us) medical treatment, made us live for 4 1/2 years without having hot water among other things. She left him numerous times all my life but ALWAYS went back. I hated him; he finally quit the physical abuse about 15 years ago (never stopped the emotional abuse though) along with the drinking but the damage was done. He had her so completely cowed she wouldn’t have known her own opinion if you showed it to her. He finally died of cancer in 2006 and I’ve celebrated the day of his death every year since. I refused to go to the funeral (didn’t think it would be cool to dance in the aisle) and I’m now ostracized from all of them, mom included!
My second–and last–husband attacked me ONCE. I took my son and we left; had to hide in battered women’s shelters for 2 years until he was caught and jailed for what he did (not just to me but others) but I have never regretted it and would never have gone back.

Charlies PR people are so use to doing what it takes to cover Charlies behind, that this ‘lets tell everyone about bad Brooke’ must have seemed like a good idea, but have they stopped to think it’s more likely to make her mad than co-operative.
Whether or not Charlie goes to prison probably depends on how much of a money grubber she is. She has all the power here I wonder if she can think clearly enough to realize it.
Sadly, congential heart defects ARE a classic symptom of FAS. Also common are developmental delays, poor growth, characteristic facial features, and joint & limb problems.
Diva, I’m with you. Knowing that she is such an extreme alcoholic that while pregnant she was hiding booze bottles in her car….that’s gone way beyond someone who likes to party a little bit. I feel awful for those kids, and I have much more sympathy for her, now, too…
I get the feeling this girl is about as fucked up as Sheen is. If he were laying off the booze and drugs, they wouldn’t have gotten to the point to get married, and vice versa. That poor baby. I hope he is OK and gets the care he needs.
I promise I have never thought about someone going to rehab while pregnant…I’ve been sheltered I guess. It is so sad for these kids to have both parents addicted and one of them violent and abusive. I cannot imagine what it must be like to grow up in a family where Mom & Dad have “sober minders” and apparently drink anyway, disgusting that they chose to bring kids into this.

This may sound terrible but it sounds like they belong together. No other personalities are more perfect for each other. I pity the kids, though.
Nicole Richie had to do the same, didn’t she? Fortunately she had/has a good man at her side. Brooke doesn’t have that. I wish her and the babies the best.

By the time Denise married him, he already had a reputation and her career was fading. She never went to the cops claiming “fear,” but ran to every tabloid and filed a very public divorce document.(that will haunt her kids) She spun herself a reality show. She’s basically a narcissistic opportunist that exploited domestic violence and her kids.
At least this younger woman filed a police report, let’s hope she follows through.
